A man hacked to death a suspected rapist who allegedly tried to rape his pregnant wife.

The husband of the pregnant woman hacked the man with a machete when he entered their residence armed with a panga ( a machete-like tool) and attempted to rape his wife who is 5 months pregnant.

The husband was in one of the bedrooms and rushed to his wife’s aid when he heard her screaming for help on Monday, March 4. When he found the suspect attempting to rape his wife, he grabbed the suspect’s machete and repeatedly hacked him with it.

The suspect stumbled out of the home, bleeding heavily and collapsed outside the residence at Magwaveni – Tongaat in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.

When the Reaction Unit South Africa arrived at the residence after receiving a call from a member of public reporting the incident, they found the suspect lying outside the home bleeding excessively from injuries to his head and arms.

Paramedics from the Provincial Ambulance Service were called to the scene and upon arrival found that the suspect had died from his injuries.

The victim’s husband has been arrested while police investigate further.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has debunked the news report claiming that he stopped the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi from leading campaign for the party’s candidates ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

In a statement titled: “the tree of falsehood grows” and which was signed by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, the APC leader described Ajimobi as “his partner, not rival” and that his intervention in Oyo APC is to engender genuine reconciliation and not to hide or supplant the governor.

Tinubu was reacting to a news report by an online platform alleging that he has banned Ajimobi from campaigning for APC because he (Tinubu) allegedly held discussions with some notable leaders and brought back to the party’s fold, former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.

The former Lagos State Governor described Governor Ajimobi as “an excellent governor and a faithful member of the APC”.


He said Ajimobi has brought progress to the state and in serving two consecutive terms, he has made history; hence he is instrumental to anything the APC can achieve in the state.

“This report goes beyond a lie. It is a vindictive attempt to sow discord because the writer is angered by the APC’s success in the presidential election. Thus, the writer has cast truth aside in his angry desire to inflict some kind of electoral wound on the APC.

“SaharaReporters seems unable to mend its ways. Instead of trying to publish what is fair and accurate, it rather grows its tales from seedlings of untruth and calumny. This online newspaper no longer bothers to offer the pretence of seeking the truth.

“For SaharaReporters, whatever is sensational must be true and whatever is true must be sensational.

“The real truth is that SaharaReporters no longer cares if its reportage is right. SaharaReporters just cares that it is widely read. It dare not allow veracity to hamper its business model. This is a disservice to ethical journalism which honours truthful, accurate reporting,” a part of the statement read.

The statement added that Tinubu does not wield such power to stop a sitting governor who can travel in his state as he pleases.

“Who can dare stop him? We want him in and at the rallies. Asiwaju’s intervention in Oyo was to engender genuine reconciliation. To exclude this good and able governor would have aborted this mission before it started.

“Asiwaju views Governor Ajimobi as highly disciplined and a committed and respected party leader, unlike some others who have no respect for party supremacy. The relationship between them remains solid and loyal. And one hundred false reports by one hundred SaharaReporters cannot change that reality,”

The Nigerian man who was fatally stabbed inside his car in The Bronx on Saturday night drove for Uber, the ride-sharing giant said in a statement Sunday.

The for-hire driver, identified by the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, as Ganiyu Gandonu, 27, from Ogun State, was found bleeding from his neck and torso inside his Toyota Camry around 9:10 p.m. along the Hutchinson River Parkway East in Baychester, cops said.

Investigators have yet to announce a motive or identify a suspect, but, on Sunday night, police released new surveillance video of a person of interest wanted in the fatal stabbing.

Police said the video shows a man dressed in all dark clothing. The suspect ran off from the scene. Ganiyu was found stabbed in the neck and chest in his car. He later died at Jacobi Medical Center.

“I know for sure that he got no problem with anybody. He start this job. He worked. After work, he’s home. He don’t go to parties, met friends, go to clubs, nothing, nothing nothing,” said his widow, Latifat Alimi, said.

Alimi told The Post that before the deceased left for work, he lamented, “I’m tired, but I have to go and make money.”

The couple then talked again by phone shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, but the call was cut short when Ganiyu picked up a fare, she said. “He said, ‘I’ll call you back. I have a customer,’ ” said Alimi, 24. He never called back.

The Nigerian army has announced the arrest of at least eight suspects who allegedly disrupted the 2019 presidential election in Rivers state.



Parading the suspects at the 6 division of the Nigerian army, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, Sagir Musa, army spokesman, said the suspects confessed to be working for Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state.



According to him, they had posed as staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and tampered with electoral materials.



He also said the army has on record phone conversations between the suspects and the governor. The suspects were paraded before journalists at the division headquarters. They were subsequently taken out to where the army said a “car of Rivers state of government which they used” in their operation was parked.



The army also called out the governor for trying to bribe one of its officers describing it as a failed attempt by Governor Wike to compromise the Army.



This was backed up by an audio recording which appears to have the voice of Governor Wike speaking with an officer and which was played on live TV.

The Senate President, Olubukola Saraki who lost his Senatorial re-election bid to Oloriegbe on Saturday 23rd Elections finally speaks, Congratulate winners.

He also promise to keep working with PDP in future.

In his statement, he said:

I wish the candidates that emerged in the Kwara polls all the best in their attempts to serve our people. It is my prayer that the good people of Kwara State will always have the best from any government both at the state and federal levels.

As a product of a family and a political structure that is, from its foundation, devoted to the service and development of our state and its people, it is my wish that our people will always have a good deal at all times.

The new development will even provide the people the opportunity to compare and contrast. After all, the people who have emerged from last Saturday’s election are not my enemies. They are fellow Kwarans.

As we prepare for the March 9th, 2019 Governorship and House of Assembly elections, let me reiterate my position that the candidates of the PDP in the election represent the best materials for our dear State, Kwara.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied reports claiming it had arrested a spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council, Buba Galadima.

It was widely reported yesterday that the PDP spokesperson was picked up by unknown masked men in Wuse 2 area in Abuja.

Recall that the Buhari Campaign Organization had in a statement released by its spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, called for the arrest of Galadima over allegations he was releasing fake presidential results.

The DSS has however denied any involvement in the reported arrest of Galadima.

The PDP alerts all Nigerians and the international community to note how the APC has been killing innocent Nigerians, snatching and burning ballot boxes in today’s Presidential Elections.

The party however says that nothing can break the will of the people in their determination to stand till the end, in voting out the incompetent, corrupt and oppressive APC administration.

The unleashing of violence is the major part of the script by the APC to intimidate Nigerians and disrupt the election, in their bid to enforce the now failed President Buhari’s self-succession plot.

Buhari & the APC leadership must know that they are directly responsible for the killings in Rivers state, the violent snatching of ballot box & burning of electoral materials in Lagos & other states where security agents were used to interfere in electoral process.

In Lagos state, the world watched in amazement as security agents aided APC thugs to invade polling centers, disrupt electoral process, manhandle voters, destroy and burnt electoral materials, including ballot papers and boxes.
