honeric01:And who is laughing with you. I thought you don tire? Anyway, you have and are entitled to your own opinion, no matter how wayward some of us find it. If Mr Maurice as you say is coach, or Sia1 is coach, or Maradona con carry Naija coach position, let us stop this nonsense of saying Siasia is not qualified, because he is. |
Ranoscky:Beta Person |
You are correct in saying that Pa Awo outlined a better strategy for the West. But that strategy was one that cared less for Nigeria as a nation. You can't have that philosophy and turn around to chop money with Gowon at the so-called FEDERAL EXEC Council. It's like the Abia governor who today is PPA, then APGA, and currently PDP with possibility of going PPA again. Was Awo a better leader for the West than Akintola or Fajuyi or anyone else? You could make the same argument for Sarduana. Was he really better than Amino Kano? Ironsi's regime was fair and not illegal, as the military toppled the govt before he and millions could count to three. Yet Awo, was one of the beneficiaries of what Ironsi "started". NNDP was not Nigeria's first national party, it was NCNC. (For the record) |
Unfortunately I agree koruji. This latest outburst from Mbu wont change the next election. Balewa was kidnapped and whatever happened under that kidnapping will always be attributed to the kidnappers. Whether or not the coupist did the right thing by ousting him is another story. What about the Sarduana? Maimlari? Akintola? Even Ironsi and Fajuyi nko? Are we to say that they actually died of this and that 40 years later? It would have made more sense to say that the coupist in January and those in July 66 regretted causing alot of confusion and death to Fulani, Igbo, and Yoruba families, and as a result, destroying Naija as a whole. |
Some Nigerians are lazy, others cowards, yet still, others very hard working, brave, and true professionals. The problem with Naija simply is leadership, and the bad and ugly there trickle down into society as a whole. |
honeric01:They channeled their energy in the champions league? That sounds like an England excuse when they fail (Our players are burnt out from the Club competitions eh). Emeteole was sacked because they had a bad season and were entering the Champions League matches. Amodu was sacked in 2002 under the same circumstances in Mali ANC. Those "yeye" quotes must have come from a "yeye" coach abi? |
honeric01:My goodness, Why would he want to upgrade the Heartland players into Super Eagles and forget the remaining 900+ pool of players Naija has? Didnt you see the squad list against Madagascar? Were there not plenty of local players that Eguavoen took? Even the u20/23 players often come from the domestic league. Look, if you were given 300k a month for 3, 4, even 5 months prior to the World Cup, without playing any meaningful friendlies until weeks till the opening match to coach SE or England, wouldn't you? Well, Lagerback and Ericksson both did, and Ivory Coast and Nigeria are the 1s they are chanting in Europe as the mumus. Keshi coached floppy Mali, Chukwu was in Kenya for sometime before taking the Naija job. Where was Amodu coaching before his appointment two years ago? If Sia1 likes, he can coach the Botswana team, which by the way, is leading their ANC group, ahead of Tunisia |
honeric01:My friend shut up jah' Just stop and ask yourself why the "late" appointment of Sia1 in the first place. Heartland just finished 8TH in the league. We are not talking of LAST YEAR, but their current form, which if you follow CURRENT NEWS, wasnt good enough to go far. Their former coach, Emeteole, attributes his sacking as a result of that and management problems in the club( i.e. player bonuses, strikes, etc.) "My players were always demanding because they owe them a lot, the players were always going on strike." Emeteole told BBC Sport. "And they [club management] said that I and my chief coach are the brain behind it, that we instigated it. "But we have been doing a lot to make sure they carry on until money is available," he continued. Mind your sef ![]() |
denitro:At times statistics can be misleading and if "spinned", used as propaganda. The woeful campaign of Heartland began long before Sia1 took over. Also, at the club level you often have a set of players that are on contract, loan, or transfer, unlike national teams (i.e. U20, U-23, etc) where you have a larger and available group to freely choose from. Infact, Sia1 had more national team coaching experience than many who were appointed to take their sides to the last WC, some who never even coached at the U23 level. Why not post his overall record, including his grooming and coaching players that include Osaze, Taiwo, Mikel, and against players that are terrorizing the world (i.e. Messi)? If Sia1 isnt your bet for a coach, then why hire a European that doesnt know, respect, or care about your country (Berti Vogts) and youth instead of a descent indigenous coach. |
1) Are you willing to share your salary 2) Are you willing to play by corrupt NFF rules 3) Are you willing to take bribes from bench-warmer players in UEFA 4) Are you willing to take those players, even if injured, to major tournaments 5) Are you willing to allow players to enter camp 1 day to a match 6) Are you willing to allow indiscipline in your team 7) Are you willing to prefer "Premeirship/shit" players only Are you a O Y I B O? If not, are you willing to be replaced by one if you qualify for the WC?If you answer yes to 7/out of 8, then you're on your way |
GEJ should not have lifted the ban until NFF was CLEARLY and not partially rebranded |
Well done! More grease to your elbows Pastor! |
Nonsense. Some leaders think they are above it all until one crack in the ceiling threatens the whole roof. He's now a God-fearing this and that. Ohakim, Please become a pastor in 2011 and leave government house to serious people. |
koruji:LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please clap for yourself ![]() That so-called thread, "The true Extent of Igboland" I found to be silly, find many Igbo to be silly, just like the current thread on "The Unfinished Greatness of Pa Awo", again the silliest. If you really want to know, I could be Igbo, with a Yoruba mummy, along with a Ijaw half-broda with a Tiv uncle, etc., so that cheap attempt to discredit what I wrote doesn't work. I could care less for Zik, Awo, and Bello. Compared to GREAT men and women in history, all I could ascribe to them is that "they tried", which often isn't good enough to be considered great. Yet, since we are talking about so-called great vision, putting Awo's name in that arena is very questionable. Why some Nigerians like to use the word "take over" is pathetic. Perhaps we all have been militarized eh'. In those days, Zik and co won elections and did not "TAKE OVER" parties, until AWO introduced rigging and tribalism on a large scale. Where and what did Awolowo win? Did he not serve in an illegal regime featuring murders and dictators? Fajuyi was in power long enough to comment on Awo, and I'm glad he never applauded the tribal chief. Same goes if Macaulay was alive in 1968. And please, how can you put Fashola in the AG network in today's Naija? |
Doesnt really change the overall story that much. Coupist struck, and indirectly or directly as a result, Balewa died. |
T9ksy:So far your "facts" are inaccurate, and I'm afraid to see any further ones from you. How can you say NCNC was an Igbo party with "a few Yorubas". If that WAS true, then were those "few Yorubas" idiots? NCNC was formed primarily from the then meeting(s) of Nigerian Union of Students, and became Naija's first political party. Macaulay was elected it's first national president and held the post until he took ill and passed. Among it's chief members and supporters were Council of Ijebu National Societies, Yaba Estate Social Club, Ila Patriotic Union, Akure Federal Union, Council of Ijesha Societies, and Ekiti Parapo Society, so a "few Yorubas" eh? There is no doubt that he had a greater vision and performed immensely for both the area of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole, when compared to a Tribalist and opportunist like AWOLOWO. The same goes for the award winning, disciplined, dedicated, and Pro-Nigerian Fajuyi |
And if UEFA, oops, EU/NATO agree, what will African leaders like Theo Orji do with their own share in their own feudal boundaries? |
Wow, so as most of the road networks in Naija remain the way they were 10, 15, 20 years ago, we actually have "billions" tucked away some where, along with a balance of 450 MILLION left. Na'wah. And it is called Excess Crude Account or so? Does that mean that the money in this account came from "NIGERIA", or just the states like Abia, Rivers, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Cross River, Ondo, etc. Please enlighten us on the so called revenue sharing agreement, and which leader (or former dictator) initiated this? |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt we hear of this same talk in 1983, with NPN suggesting that Ekwueme/Igbo will take the next election? Even in 2003, we heard that Igbo should come "after OBJ", and saw the same Ekwueme and 30 other Igbo candidates side-lined. Then again in 2007 rotation was to come to the Igbo, with numerous alive and now dead "NORTHERN" politicians along with IBB's inlaw from Anioma promising, saying, and gisting that come 2007 it must go East? Now it's 2015, and when another Northerner is elected then, he'll say 2019 abi 2023. By the way folks, when we are saying that Igbo will support the North or a candidate, are we talking about the authentic Igbo votes in Nnewi, Kwale, Ahoada, Abakaliki, Orlu? Or are we talking about the rigged vote or even the vote of so-called Igbo political players (i.e. Ohakim, Iwuanyanwu, Orji Kalu and broda Theo Orji)? |
Och77:Of course it is! U20 and U23, which he coached well and coached against the likes of Messi? What do you guys want from a broda? We hired Bonfrere Jo in the same vein, paying him big bucks and can't try Sia1 for one game? Haba. What was Dunga's record before coaching Brazil, or that of the coaches of Argentina, Korea, and Greece, which all finished ahead of us in the last WC. No team has ever won the World Cup with a foreign coach---not even England, and currently, no foreign coach has won the AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS since at least 2004 (6 years- 3 editions). So we in Africa are really inferior abi, and can pay mediocre Europeans the big bucks as long as they "share salary" with our FA officials sheh'. Or do we feel good just having a OYIBO on the sidelines hoping he knows what he's doing? Yet Africa has not done any better than Cameroon did in 1990 Qfinal berth. ![]() England hired an Italian because his so called CV was long, and were/are paying him 205K a month, For what? Mexico paid indigenous coach Javier Aguirre 333K a month, and Marcelo Bielsa coaching Chile at 70k a month. So lets support our own folks, not for the sake of color, but for once, to really get to to where we need to be. We dont need Queen Eliza ruling us because we accept bad indigenous leadership, and we don't need Lagerback because we choose mediocre Amodu to better indigenous coaches like Sia1 |
ChinenyeN:Indeed, I'll take that into consideration |
Andre Uweh:Your post indirectly is suggesting that you are trying to tell me what to write. I am aware of "forum" rules, which arent being followed on various threads, yet that is another story. The true extent of Igboland can and should include matters happening in and related to that very part of the world. If you want me to bombard this thread with those things that are more relevant than what I am finding here, then sure. Basically people can and should write about whatever makes them feel happy, and name all 500,000 Igbo autonomous communities if they like. For yours truly, I will challenge those writings if I and others find them trivial and indeed, misleading to the "TRUE" extent of Igboland. Has anyone cared to ask why there's no Anioma State today? That is relevant to this topic |
Onovo Onovo, first they said you cant be IG because Goodluck wanted SS man, yet they took SS Igbo (Mike Mba Okiro) Now they say you must go to jail, when Yerima and co are all there eating and drinking |
They check the amount generated by properties, investments and natural resources before giving the state their bill. The whole SE states will not be paying the same amount because the amount they generate varies. Same goes for Lagos and Rivers states that pays almost twice what other qualified states pay.Personally, I think Eboyi state should be exempted like other impoverished states in the North and South west.
Better |
Dede1:I should write my name lol. Well its Dede1. I'm not from Obingwa, and if you were from there, you'll know that the name Emeka, originated chiefly among Anambara dialect groups and not Ngwa ![]() See, presenting "orji" can be learned on Youtube. You could bet I wont write page after page online about the true extent of the kola nut, despite the fact that it's an important symbol for various groups in West Africa, particularly Igbo. Your post just adds to the delusion that Igbo people still continue to have in the scheme of things. Today we are talking the true extent of Igboland, when you can't comfortably get from "Obingwa" to Umuahia without fear of armed robbery. So let's include the serious and relevant with the fantasy and "feel good". |
Violence is what I fear for Naija, violence carried out on the wrong persons |
Why not focus on your problem first. The article did not say other zones are not owing but SE states are owing N13bn. You don't have to wait for other zones to pay up before you pay yours. Also, not all states in Nigeria pay taxes to FG. Ekiti, Jigawa and many Northern states do not pay taxes because they are on life support. So, PAY up playa.
I believe if you re-read my short and simple post, you will agree that the number 1 comes before the number 2, and then 3, 4, etc. Yet, the SE states are part of Naija along with those states on "life support". By the way, who should pay from the SE? The students at FUTO, the traders at Aba? The coal miners in Enugu? |
Re-reading the original article there are two areas that come into play: 1) The message 2) The messenger The message is very plausible. Naija already has enormous problems, and to a large extent, many female youths are now aristos or waiting to be married off to shaddy men in Yankee. Many male youths are in MEND, MASSOB, Islamic militant groups, internet cafe's, political assassins, etc. The remaining youth are in the middle of all the chaos. Yet those who are to show direction (i.e. Yerima) are busy globetrotting, marrying 13 year olds, embezzling, aristo-ing, or having 8 kids in the village that has no light. So at least, the message is plausible and should be taken serious. The messenger, representing the British/British gov't, has played and continues to play a large extent in the destruction of the African people. They wont say or add the full picture, that the British/British Gov't are not naturally superior, but greedy and have 419ed the world siiiiiiiiiiiince! |
Onlytruth:My dear these are traits found among responsible people. Looking at what you posted, I can perhaps generalize the Arabs, Indians, Chinese, and Europeans as having these traits. As for Igbo, maybe before the war. So if you are trying to REMIND Igbo that this is how they once were as a group, or ought to be, then I salute you. |
Yeah, because the Yorubas stayed away and let you guys discuss/plan to eat each other in peace. I guess what woulda happened if this was a Yoruba thread!? See why I take their side now? Do u now see that they dont care about u guys and your inferiority complex?!
I cant agree more. People can post all they want, but lets call a spade a spade. If it takes us 31 pages of round-robin matches to say what is the obvious, in fact things that are already well documented, then yes, Igbo will continue to be regarded as nonentities on the big stage. We are talking about the true extent of Alaigbo in the way school children do. (Hi my name is Emeka and I'm from Obingwa LGA, what about you, Are delta Igbo really Igbo?, Goodluck Johnathan is Igbo because, ) Well, lets say that as of today the true extent of Igboland is a place without any major world class city, international airport, etc. In fairness, it is as a result of marginalization by others, and the lack of solidarity among Igbo. Perhaps this lack of solidarity can be in part a lack of understanding of the "true extent of Igboland", and that Igbo is Igbo, regardless of arbitrary borders (i.e. "Delta" State, Ebonyi State). So, if Igbo people's current dialogue on Nairaland today is about how big and shiny their land is-and that's it- then it's a pity. |
What about the Unfinished greatness of Fajuyi or Herbert Mac? Awo and co are going to remain part and parcel of the multitude of failed African leaders |
