Politics / Re: Buhari Dropped The Mic With A Bang And Walked Out On Chibok Parents – Yesufu by mescapee: 10:28am On Jan 16, 2016
kITATITA:

They both said same thing. The President seemed upset. He showed no empathy. After speaking he didn't move towards the parents nor look in their direction. He Simply dropped The Microphone and walked away. They expected the typical Nigerian way of comforting those who are grieving and didn't get it.

Oby's was very diplomatic in addressing the situation.

Yesufu tried her best to be diplomatic.

Now I will like to see someone (a concerned parent) who will be factual.

Cos I still need to know the details of what transpired (reason: that's why journalists were asked out of the venue.) grin grin grin

Contrary to counter claims on Friday by #BringBackOurGirls advocate Oby Ezekwesili that President Buhari did not walk out on the parents of the missing Chibok girls, Aisha Yesufu, a leader of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign who was at the said meeting has re-affirmed earlier reports that Buhari indeed walked out of the meeting without paying any attention to the grieving Chibok parents.

Ezekwesili had denied reports that President Buhari walked out on the group after a meeting yesterday, January 14, 2016.

EiE Nigeria, a socio-political advocacy group had tweeted on Thursday how President Buhari snobbed the Chibok parents.

But moments after news of the cold reception gained traction in the media, Ezekwesili took to her Twitter page to issue a counter claim.

Ezekwesili said that the president failed to connect emotionally with the mothers of the Chibok girls who were weeping during the meeting. She said the President didn't walk out on the Chibok parents. "No. President @MBuhari DID NOT walk out on Parents. The Parents just did not FEEL HIM", she tweeted.

But a leader of the #BringBackOurGirls group, Aisha Yesufu in her account of what transpired noted that President Buhari was upset and ended up being defensive instead of being in charge. According to her, the President's reception was so cold that "When PMB @NGRPresident had finished he let go of the mike and it dropped with a small bang on the table. He stood up and strode away. PMB @NGRPresident walked out of the Banquet Hall with no glance at parents shell shocked . No empathy. No connection. Just coldness."

Is that soooooo?

No wonder the Presidency gave journalists marching order to leave the meeting.

Well, that still indicts your PDP particlualry as most of the governors who agitiatied for the sharing of the cash....were in PDP too.

And anyway.....we also failed to remove subsides completely. We also did nothing about the importataion of fuel, and the GEJ govt was making unauthorised withdrawals from the account....which we now see revealed via dasukigate.

But it doesn't matter. Even if GEJ had saved like Scrooge.....we would be in this mess next year. The best we could have done would have reached $100bn.

The real issue is that we have to raise taxes, end corruption and tighten the seatbelts......which the govt has done the first two already (No 3 is not being done....BMW things sadly).Eventually, we are going to have to go the austerity route. If it is any consolation to you....we shouldahve made those choices back in the 1970's....and gone industrial too.

Sorry....but your PDP is partly to blame. Your governors in PDP were part of the sharing. Your government back then was not strong enough to make the hard choices that were needed, as well as to stop the massive leakages in our revenue.Pretending that it is all APC's fault is flawed thinking.

But...beyond politics.....we have to diversify away from oil.

Then keep blaming PDP.

@op, your boss made no sense at all.

As a president who understands farming, before you plant , you need tree deforestation, bush clearing and burning , then you plant and await bountiful harvest.

But if you just start planting on without first removing all those stuffs that will hinder good harvest, no matter how hard you work, your effort won't bring up anything tangible.

You call war against corruption a waste of time. Lol . sounds like a typical Nigerian.

It was predicted; still they didn't care!

It is now happening; they still don't mind!!

How this will all end is still much unknown. But if HISTORY is anything to go by, it will surely REPEAT ITSELF AGAIN.

It will be difficult to accept some naked truths.. .. .. As the saying goes "a man will never accept defeat (except GEJ) until defeat is accepted as reallity" in the face of serious hardship and excruciating pain of the economy, it will be difficult to accept that the current government is not performing to expectations, accruing to the fact that faith was deposited on the current ruler as the messiah, staunchly!

Having said that, anything that negates their believe will be counted as tantamount to destroying their image and present them as being gullible at their choice. In order not to look so, they continue to throw blames on the past, coming up with irrelevant defence just protect their and look right. Just like the chronic and sentimental Arsenal fans whom in spite of not winning trophies for years (which should be the prime factor for competition) they'll come up with defence like "never mind, we are making money for the club"

In summary, it will be difficult to accept the "parable of the employer in order not to exhibit any format of folly of their choice of messiah.

It was predicted; still they didn't care!

It is now happening; they still don't mind!!

How this will all end is still much unknown. But if HISTORY is anything to go by, it will surely REPEAT ITSELF AGAIN.
Politics / Re: What Do You Think About My Boss' Parable? by mescapee: 9:15am On Dec 15, 2015
Gaborone:
So, here we go...

Yesterday at the office, my boss walked up to us -his employees- and gave an impassioned talk about President Buhari's style of governance. He said, while he thought Buhari's attempt at recovering stolen funds were not out of place in itself, he was giving way too much attention to it. According to him, the President's lack of priority in this regard had become counter-productive and had started to prove detrimental to other areas that are in dire need his attention.

To drive home his point, he gave us a parable of an employer who kept N20,000 in his office somewhere, and on coming back to take it, he discovered that one of his Clerks had run off with it. After the discovery, the employer took the keys to the office, locked it up. He ran out with as much fury as he could muster, shouting to the hearing of all who would listen, "Who saw my boy?!!!", "Please, help me find him and get my money!!" All the while this employer was out looking for the stolen money, his shop remained under lock and key, no monies coming out, no monies going in. No customer, no profits in sight; he was making losses with every turn. Yet, ALL that mattered to him remained getting the thief of a boy, and recovering the stolen money.

My boss likened the employer in the above parable to President Buhari. He says our President has practically closed shop -Nigeria- and has decided to channel all his energy into getting stolen funds, forgetting that there is a bigger picture -an economy- that needs urgent attention; forgetting that the country might be going into a recession; forgetting that people are losing their jobs, forgetting that foreign investors are leaving, and more are 'plotting' to close shop and leave Nigeria; forgetting that an economy is not run by stolen funds which are recovered, but that if anything, they are to be regarded as "extras".

The above is how my boss sees things right now, and I agree with him.

I have to agree because, since coming into office, the activities of President Buhari's government has centered around just two things: 1. Foreign trips; and 2. Instigating the prosecution of looters of the past (who I must mention are not pro his government or pro-Apc). While the relevance of the above two can really not be downplayed, the fact remains that attention need to be given to the economy of Nigeria. As my boss said, no country has ever been run on recovered funds. Me thinks he needs to stay home a bit more, and pay attention to the alarms being raised by the World Bank and other bodies about Nigeria's economy. He need to share that attention he is giving the boy who stole the money.

Now, what's your own take about what my boss said?

#As an aside, he needs to stop talking so much about his predecessor -Jonathan. It's only a lazy man that blames his tools all the time.

Your boss is wise. Don't miss any opportunity to learn more.

What I know and think about Kogi Election!

After Audu's death, I knew it wasn't just 'DEATH', he was killed intentionally. But I asked who might it be
Lemme start from here...Audu was actualy nominated as the APC candidate because he gained ground in Kogi state and he was really popular, not because APC of the state eventually wanna make him go for the govnorship election or because he was a very good man, NO!. And in that case, for them (APC) to win, they need someone who will win the election.

Before his death, though the election wasn't concluded yet, am sure APC won.

Now My View about the incident.

Checking from what happened, we cant say Audu was killed by an opposition party but by his own party. Looking closely, I guess their plan is:
If Audu should win the election, since they actually want his deputy as the gov, the best is to kill Audu, make his deputy be the gov then everything goes fine. But it backfired. The election is inconclusive and I don't think if there is a rerun of the voting (which I don't think there will be), APC might lose ground to PDP I Kogi state.

But my question is still...
WHY WILL THEY WANT HIM DEAD? embarassed

Exactly my thoughts

Former United States President Jimmy Carter has described Nigeria’s former president Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as a symbol of democracy on the African continent.
Carter, the 39th US President, said this when he received Jonathan yesterday at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum located at the Carter Centre in Atlanta.
In a statement, the two former presidents held a fruitful meeting at the carter Centre where they held wide-ranging discussion on global issues and shared views on how to promote peace, democracy and good governance in Africa and the world.

Speaking on Jonathan’s time in office, Carter said: “President Jonathan is the symbol of democracy in action. You set an example that other African leaders should follow.”

The former American president further praised Jonathan for organising a transparent election and easily conceded defeat by handing over to the opposition, stressing that by doing so, Jonathan showed his deep democratic commitment.

In his remarks, Jonathan stated that his actions while in office were informed by his belief in a peaceful, transparent and people-oriented governance, adding that Africa can only move forward through democracy and good governance.

Jonathan also commended President Carter for the exemplary manner he led in his post-presidential life, adding that he was inspired by Carter’s commitment to causes which advance the path of humanity.

The statement said Jonathan and Carter shared a common experience as one term presidents and have both retired involuntarily from politics while rededicating their lives towards making the world a better place.
