TheArchangel:trying to put things in perspective. I do support Igbo self determination, being Igbo myself. However, let's always report things exactly as it is. Warning to 7 governors is a farce. What happens after 72 hours without anything happening to the said states? If Niger Delta Avengers say that they will go after these governors, it's likely they will based on their fulfilled promises in the past. Presently, they haven't threatened any governor. |
Monday, June 13, 2016 PRESS STATEMENT The high command of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) is using this medium to restate that there are no new items to put on the table for dialogue, we only want a genuine attitude and conducive atmosphere that will make us commit to any proposed dialogue and last peace talk. We want the federal government to commit members states of the multi national Oil Corporations to commit independent mediators to this proposed dialogue; we believed that it is only such environment that will engender genuine dialogue that will be aimed at setting up a framework for achieving the short, medium and long term demands of the Niger delta to de-escalating this conflict and bring about a lasting peace. The NDA high command is restating our commitment to attack the interest of oil corporation and international refineries operators that bring in vessels to the Niger delta territory to buy our oil that every successive government have refused to used and reapply the proceeds towards any development in the region since 1958. If they refuse be heed to our advice will result to sinking of two their mother vessel as an examples to others They should not undertake any repair of pipeline, oil and gas facilities that is damaged or attacked by our forces during this period of “Operation Red Economy” until and/or after the dialogue. We are using medium to warn and condemn the activities of all brands of social media agitators being peddled around by some politicians to promote their criminal ways in affairs of the Niger Delta. This genuine spirit behind our struggle for the Niger Delta cannot be derailed on the basis of connivance by politician, traditional rulers, settled ex- agitators and criminals moving around to fill their pockets. The issues of the Niger delta are as old and as new as the days of Pa. Dappa Biriye, Major Jasper Isaac Adaka Boro, to Ken Saro Wiwa and the government of President Musa Yar’ Adua. We are warning this government of President muhammadu Buhari, not to turn the essence of genuine peace talk and dialogue to political jamboree that is prevailing now where all manner of social media agitators and criminals have being sponsored by the job seeking corrupt political class to safe faces before the government of the day. Finally, if need be we may review our earlier stance of not taking lives. We are going to redirect and reactivate all our activities if the government, oil companies and their services firms don’t heed to these modest warnings of not carrying out any repairs works and suspend the buying of crude oil from our region as we await the right atmosphere that will engender genuine dialogue “ We Want a peace with Honour not a Peace of our time” Thanks Brig. Gen Mudoch Agbinibo Spokesperson http://www./2016/06/press-statement.html?m=1

If what others are asking is for handouts, amnesty, pipeline security contracts, then ND doesn't have hope for the next 100 years. Niger Delta Avengers has my respect for maintaining their stand for the good their people. Mind you, amnesty, pipeline security have not translated to any benefit to ordinary niger deltans. It only enriches the hoodlums, their citizens still remain very poor and their land continued to be damaged by oil drilling and production. |
“June 12 will continue to be relevant until Nigerians are given the opportunity to decide their fate in the country and that is when Democracy would have been enthroned,’’ he said. The only northern alies are fast leaving them. The sane people of Southern Nigeria would soon team up to form a true country based on true confederation. If the western Nigeria joins SS and SE, the deal is done. The unholy union of 1914 is fast ending. |
modath:so when Nigeria got independence, all Nigerians abroad and in Britain returned?? Wondering who lacks common sense. |
This beats my imagination! If SE are parasites and contributes criminality to Nigeria state, why on earth are they preventing them from self determination!!!! |
We're practicing a skewed federalism. SE doesn't need to contribute. They will relax and get their statutory allocation monthly. That's what Nigeria wants! If anyone doesn't like it they should allow SE go or on the least practice true federalism. By then, we will know if they are contributing. |
Nigerians don't understand the implication of the system we run in Nigeria. Whether you generate revenue or not, you must share statutory allocation from federal government. What this means is that even the whole niger delta quits oil production, they will still be entitled to monthly allocation except for 13%derivation. It's time to look away from oil. Revenue from innumerable tax returns from Lagos and Ogun, revamped agricultural tax and mineral exploration from North should henceforth contribute 70% of federal government revenue. It's time for niger delta to rest so that they can benefit from other regions as well. I hope and support such a system for next five years. I just hope the northerners and SW will be cool with this arrangement. As for SE , they fend for themselves. If dollar increases, they increase price of their goods. If pump price increases, they add it to their commodities and sell to you. So no losses for them. That's why you don't see them protesting for pump price increase. Just hope we can try zero oil economy. |
Preparing for war. Weeding out potential saboteurs. Buhari government, Bruntai military and Daura DSS will be put to shame. |
I was driving today along East West Rd towards University of Port Harcourt and noticed a number of mad people. The one that caught my attention is one madman stark naked with reddish stuff protruding from his anus. I presume he has pile. The gory sights of these poor souls roaming aimlessly on the road is disheartening. Is there nothing government can do rehabilitate some of these weakest members of the society? I always thought that the health of a nation can only be determined by how they treat the weakest links in the society. Our hearts have grown so cold that we pass these poor souls daily without having a second thought about their welfare. If Rivers or any state set aside like N10M monthly or even less, and use it judiciously without normal embezzlement, most of the so called mad men and women can be rehabilitated. How about our churches? Can't some of our mega churches come together and contribute to help these helpless souls. The whole condition is pathetic. We cannot move forward as a nation if we continue to neglect these little issues. No developed nation I know of neglects it's very poor. |
Expected, they are getting tired of the old man |
Goke7:GEJ government was inclusive, which blinded people's eyes to the reality on ground. Buhari is a sectional. It's better late than never. |
I was recently banned on this forum for mocking federal government's military crackdown in niger delta with war ships, gun boats, jet fighters and foot soldiers. I recognize that Nairaland is a privately owned website, have a right to ban anybody at anytime but setting a bad precedent is not good for both the website operators, Nigeria government and people. Our criticism and mocking of government is geared to put them on their toes. Government officials, politicians, DSS, etc all come to nairaland to gather opinion from common Nigerians and for intelligence gathering as well. They hear our voices, mockings, insults daily from Facebook, Twitter, online forums (eg nairaland) and try to amend their ways. Trying to shut up dissenting voices only embolden us the more. On issue of Niger Delta Avengers, IPOB, it's only Nigerian government that designates these groups as criminal groups . While fulani herdsmen designated as fourth most dangerous terrorist group globally, it is treated with kids gloves by ruling government. Niger Delta Avengers may not be employing the nicest method to achieve their aim but they are constrained on other options. I will explain this further. People have opined that they could have made their requests known peacefully instead of blowing their lands away. MASSOB, IPOB, etc have over the years peacefully asked for secession. What did they get? Military crackdown, extra judicial killing, unlawful detention. It's obvious you cannot get anything peacefully in Nigeria. If they have listened to previous agitators, at least these new guys would show face and not resort to pipeline bombing. Others were of opinion that they should have used our senators, reps, governors. This is not possible. Reason being that by constitution, Nigeria is indivisible and elected officials have sworn to unity of the country. It is a tresonable offense. They will immediately be arrested by DSS if they mention anything about division of the country. It is now left for ordinary people to use international laws to achieve self determination. After military invasion, what did they achieve? Nothing! Pipelines are still going up in flames even after unilateral declaration of ceasefire by Nigerian government. The only solution that will avert total disintegration of Nigeria is amendment of 1999 constitution. Communities and regions need to control their lands and resources and pay tax to the center. This will bring unprecedented development to all regions and end oil dependency once and for all. We could operate as mini nations and leverage on our population. If Ogoni wants a Kingdom of their own , let them have it! I have more details and road map to a successful Nigeria. Where the government refuses to listen to the people, count me out on a united Nigeria. Mods you can ban again till 2020 or delete my account completely. I stand by my opinions. I will continue to criticize and mock government whenever they fail. Cheers |
Failed government |
This is getting serious. Buhari needs to pull back military from niger delta as a sign of peace and call these guys to truly know what their grievances are |
A welcome development if he's not just making empty promises. Abia state is less than 40 nautical miles to the ocean. It's 10X easier to access the ocean than through Aba than Onitsha Inland River (Niger river). |
Sharia reporters have started again, hope they have a tangible evidence. They have been sole witnesses of this administration, ready to pronounce judgment on the media to garner sentiment in support of tyrant Buhari administration. They have been making fool of themselves recently. |
When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. When buhari was playing chess with economy, what does he expect? |
— 31st May 2016 From Tony John, Port Harcourt Niger Delta militant group, Concerned Militant Leaders (CML), has claimed responsibility for yesterday’s attack at Onitsha river, Anambra State, where eight soldiers were feared dead. Spokesman of the group, popularly known as General Ben, revealed this yesterday in the social media. He also claimed the group executed the attack in Nkpor where three persons were killed and the burning of a police patrol van in Onitsha. General Ben, in the statement, said the group’s action was to show the Federal Government and security agencies that they should not underrate the activities of the Niger Delta militants, or limit their operations to the region. The CML group said the members were working in conjunction with the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to cripple the nation’s economy. Ben declared: “My men were responsible for the killing of eight soldiers at Onitsha river. They were killed when my men attacked their military gunboat in Onitsha. We are responsible for the incident in Nkpor near Onitsha. “It may sound doubtful; but we want to tell Nigerians that we are not limited to Niger Delta region. This is a warning to the Nigerian government that no amount of security threat will deter us. More attacks will still take place. “We stand by every ultimatum given to any group or company. We will touch the soul of the economy of this nation. We are not interested in resources but, sovereignty”. General Ben further said it was not their intention to strike yesterday, as it coincided with the anniversary of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB). “We had to execute the operation to teach the military lesson. We have been quiet for a long time, but time for action has come”, he vowed. http://sunnewsonline.com/8-soldiers-feared-dead-as-militants-attack-gunboats-in-onitsha/ |
Buhari is still brimming fire. Sometimes silence saves you a lot of fight. Buhari may put himself in serious trouble fighting avengers, massob, ipob. |
I don't support any further coal mining or Petroleum exploration in South East. We're satisfied the way we are. FG should sort out their issues with ND and remedy their environment. Until we enthrench fiscal federalism and return land and resources to their owners, I don't support further exploitation of our resources. |
magicalx:This is hilarious. It's fantastically impossible. |
Cut off food, they cut off oil. Seems a good deal. The oil seller is on the advantage, they can import as much food they want if they can't produce locally due to vegetation etc. |
If Buhari has a school certificate, then nothing to fear, they wouldn't even need a lawyer. But if he fails to present his credentials, then he should honorably vacate the seat just like Jonathan conceded to defeat. The court should now deliberate on legality of Osinbajo taking over or conducting a fresh election. |
psalmsjob:I wouldn't have replied you because you sounded like a tout, similar to hoodlums that engage in extra judicial killings - breaking of law is caused by system breakdown. In Nigeria roads are bad, no cameras on highways to capture defaulting vehicles, no trusted police you can bribe your way out, no database to track people, elected officials and individuals with police blow one way. The system is messed, so what do you expect? People are no saints. The right thing is to impound defaulting vehicles and fine them as stipulated by law. |
Fearcom:Nigerians are law abiding in foreign countries due to "checks" in the system. In Nigeria roads are bad, no cameras on highways to capture defaulting vehicles, no trusted police you can bribe your way out, no database to track people, elected officials and individuals with police blow one way. The system is messed, so what do you expect? People are no saints. |
Breaking side mirrors, a critical safety equipment is totally wrong and silly. That many people on this forum support this medieval act is a testimonial of how backward we are in Nigeria. |
