I'm not Yoruba, but I love the Yorubas. My friend from Kwara insists that he's a Yoruba and not a northerner. He's more interested in being yoruba than being associated with northern Nigeria where our military regime placed them without any recourse to their cultural identity. If Nigeria is restructured properly based on cultural affinity, Akwa Ibom /Cross River /Ogoni zone together, Igbos (SE, Ikwerre, Anioma, Opobo, Ndoni, Emohua) together;, Ijaw, Okirika, etc together ; Itsekiri, Edo together , Yoruba together, Isoko, Urhobo together. |
brize:Incidentally, Yorubas are genetically the closest kins to Igbos in Nigeria. |
Everyday you see in Nairaland - Igbo this and that, Ikwerre is Igbo or not Igbo, Anioma is Igbo or not Igbo. It is PURE MADNESS. Truth be told - Igbo people are a group of people sharing similar languages (or rather dialects), culture and tradition. The truth is that Ikwerres, Aniomas, Opobo and SE States citizens are all Igbos . But another fact is that you cannot force them to accept their origin . I can decide today to disown my family , change my name , swear affidavit in a court . It is all my business !! One argument people some people make is that they don't speak exactly like Igbos. Truth is that what we generally speak and call Igbo is not particularly anybody's language. My mother's village is less than 10km from mine, no river separation, yet there are deep differences if we speak our dialects. I have Anioma friends that rejected their Igboness and also have Anioma friends that are proudly Igbo. I do understand Anioma, Ndoni, Etche, Opobo dialects fluently without ever living with them, understand Ikwerre to some extent. This made me conclude that we are all one people. This identity crisis is seen mainly outside SE states. But I don't see any reason why we should quarrel about this. I do believe that Igbos in SE should consolidate themselves very strongly and stop courting those with halfheartedness . When time comes for proper restructuring of Nigeria, referendum could be called for Igbo communities in Niger Delta. Their voices will be heard if they truly want to join their kins in SE or remain elsewhere. I have friends across all ethnicity in Nigeria. Everybody considers these ND Igbos as Igbos. ( leave nairaland bashing, it all ends in nairaland). LET STOP THESE ARGUMENTS , DENIALS ETC. IT IS NOT HELPFUL. I RECOMMEND SUCH THREADS SHOULD BE BANNED ON NAIRALAND... |
How are these transport companies get licences ? Peace Mass Transit should be suspended from operations! It's high time we regulate our road transport sector. |
Again does it mean he never made an electronic copy of his certificates (stored online, eg email) all these years he's been contesting and failing? Buhari must present his certificate |
If our senators get their acts together, they will impeach buhari in less than 3 months. Unfortunately, most of them if not all have soiled their hands in financial corruption. Simply ask buhari to request for his results from Cambridge if he can't find the originals again. I'm sure Cambridge has already prepared their response. |
Please let's free the man. We all know what happened. He registered for Cambridge WASC, took mock exams, joined military with a testimonial from his principal without coming back to take the main exam. But guys, this is really embarrassing. What's difficult in presenting a certificate even if it is lost If l lose my WASC or degree certificates, I know what to do. Cambridge University that sets WASC as at that time has been around for 800years. They will have at least 300 years of exam records if not 800! Being a president, it will take them less than one week to reprint at least his statement of result if requested. Buhari should come clean and resign. Charity begins at home. If Cameron he praised can step down for a flimsy reason, how about result forgery? |
Free the girl and stop this bu11sh1t. |
Buhari over to you. Arrest Soyinka now for Dasukigate. |
How do we prevent Buhari from traveling in the face of economic hardship in the country? No power, roads, jobs etc. He should stay put and fix the country. |
I grew up in Nigeria believing that lack of electricity power, good roads, pipe borne water, etc were normal. Making ends meet was a luxury in my house. My parents who were civil servants placed a lot of premium on education and good grades. I passed through rigors of job market - aptitude tests, interviews etc and finally secured a job with a multinational company. I had opportunities of traveling outside the country for on the job training etc. On my first trip, I was shocked at how things are done differently abroad. One striking thing I noticed, an average white man is helpful, even if he doesn't like you. They take out their time to help you. One thing I noticed in Nigeria, we hate one another, we are wicked. Oyibo man won't keep you waiting if he doesn't need to. Visit someone's office in Nigeria, unless you are a VIP, you will be treated like sh1t. We Africans are born with a high level of deception , wickedness, selfishness and silliness. In business dealings, oyibo people are very straightforward. We rip each other here in Nigeria. We can't be trusted. Everyone is involved. A majority of our medical doctors perform surgeries they don't need to in order to make money. We don't have power, good roads, emergency services and other social amenities just because we are desperately wicked. Don't get confused, whitemen still launder money. However, they always fulfill primary objectives first. I never saw power cuts, bad roads, etc. Some eastern European countries don't even have as much as we do yet they have constant power and good roads. We are very wicked. I got scammed while buying stuff in Onitsha, an Akwa Ibom guy took my money without rendering services he was meant to render. Another yoruba mechanic also did same. An hausa /fulani man stole my sister's gold. No tribe is innocent here. We need to renew our thinking. Gej, Buhari etc, are all same. We need to retrain our children. There's no gain in looting public funds, there's no gain in scamming others. Let's all come together and build each other. That's the only way we can progress. Daily, I get inundated with Nigeria news. To be frank, it is tiring and seem hopeless. I don't know if any other person see what I see. If we can all cease these silly support for either the ruling government or the previous one. Let's think inwards, start making little changes. |
Game of thrones, Nigerian version. |
otokx:You mentioned four states with different ethnic nationalities. Each ethnic nationality have their say. You can only speak for yourself and to some extent your ethnic identity. Only a referendum will bare people's minds. If you are fifty in your village and 26 vote for exit, you have no option except to relocate to Daura if you are not pleased with the results . It's a free world, not by force |
Seun, Your view on secession is quite archaic and has lost touch with the modern world. You can't force people to associate with those that they don't want to associate with. |
Of what profit is drilling oil in SE? Let the oil be, it'll come handy later |
Are these people cursed? Why is Africa so wicked to themselves?? |
Buhari has shown us his true colors. Cameron knew all these when he said that Nigeria is "fantastically corrupt". He knew that the acclaimed only saint in Nigeria is in fact an illegality. Nigeria is fantastically corrupt ![]() |
How about sms for failed transactions and the reversals? Failed transactions and the reversals are no fault of the customer. |
Lordjiggs09:Zombie spotted. Whatever the administration does is OK. Floating is OK, obviously you don't know why. If Buhari suspends it, you'll also be first to praise the move |
This government will self destroy itself. They will finally make a caricature of themselves at the end. APC is a disaster waiting to happen. |
Crime is expected to increase due to hardship, job losses etc. Buhari administration said it would soon get better. How soon is your soon? What plans do they have except trial and error? It's unfortunate. |
OROSUNBOLB:the hatred is real. On whose side are you - unsuspecting communities or terrorists? |
When politicians are arming these ediots for elections, what do you expect? Violence in Rivers state is taking lives every day. My pity is for victims of stray bullets. I care less if these hoodlums decimate themselves. At least one less armed robber, kidnapper and rapist. Wike being king of cultists doesn't care. He that lives by the sword dies by the sword. You reap what you sow. |
Pathetic. And we call Nigeria a country. The old man sent a legion of airforce, navy and military to catch elusive avengers while hundreds die from marauding herdsmen Absolutely nothing is being done!!! Benue becomes North during elections and irrelevant afterwards?? Benue, borrow a leaf from SE!! Form your own bakkassi and flush the ediots out! |
Over inflated contracts in oil companies and fraud is also adding to these costs. |
Buhari's corruption fight is a facade. He himself has issues surrounding him - no WASC certificate, he is surrounded by known political thieves, etc. He's done more to divide Nigeria further. He's Nigeria's problem, not the solution. |
He goats, that's why they can't make a single intelligent law. Ediots parading themselves as law makers. With what I'm seeing in Africa, except God helps, their's no hope. |
Our people are not into needless killings. Sights of the horrible atrocities is making these ones mad. To them it's unbelievable that such evil can perpetrated by man against his fellow. Christians are taught to love, shun revenge and pray for blessing of their perceived enemies. Islam encourages revenge. |
Religion of pieces makes healthy people sick and sick ones even sicker. See how demons played on his sick mind. |
She should apply for N-Power job ASAP! |
HassanTewogbade:I di nma imere ebere. Choo uzo inyere onwe gi aka. |
