Politics / PHOTOS: Borno Idps Begin Mass Production Of Soap, Detergents, Pomade, Bags by metroblogger: 6:13pm On Feb 01, 2017
Some Intern‎ally Displaced Persons from Gwoza local government area of Borno State have began large scale production and packaging of various household products that include solid and liquid soap, detergents, pomade, hand bags courtesy of loan allocated to them by the Borno Renaissance Micro Finance Bank, set up by Governor Kashim Shettima to promote entrepreneurship in the State.

In 2016, Governor Shettima had after examining their proposal, directed the Micro Finance Bank to release the sum of N5m to a group of Ninety one (91) male and female citizens displaced from Gwoza local government area who were living within some camps in Maiduguri. After preliminary meeting with Governor Shettima, the group had registered with the State as Gwoza Soap Makers Association, a cooperative desired to go into mass production of household items. The Governor had before facilitating the release of the funds, promised to make them grow in capacity if they start on a good footing.

In fulfillment of their pledge, after days of hard work, representatives of the IDP'S led Borno State Commissioner for Higher Education, Usman Jaha, who hails from Gwoza, ‎were at the Government House, Maiduguri today (Wednesday) with samples of household products produced and packaged by the IDP's. They named all their products, 'G.Z. Hijira'. The 'G.Z' represent Gwoza (their town) with Hijira meaning 'temporary relocation' which in their case represent Internal displacement. The IDP'S told Governor Shettima that they want their locally produced products to capture the memory of their displacement and relocation to Maiduguri as a result of attacks on their communities in Gwoza by Boko Haram insurgents in 2014.

"For a start , we have used part of the funds and produced 118 cartons of solid laundry soap; 86 cartons of small size pomades, 96 cartons of large size of pomade; 200 jeriryans of large and small packs of liquid soap; 1,972 kitchen sized packs of liquid soap, disinfectants and 127 numbers of women and unisex hand bags. We will be going into bigger scale production but we came to show you what we have started doing since you created this opportunity for us by encouraging us and getting us the money" Musa Ali Gwoza, leader of the IDP'S told Shettima.

Impressed by what he saw, Governor ‎Shettima immediately said that after their products are certified by control agencies, their products will become major features in public hospitals, schools and other Government establishments so as to increase their capacity and the economy of the State and to encourage other IDP'S and residents to become productive.

"You have just made my day. This is the kind of progress I love to see. You are all internally displaced persons but rather than fold your arms and wait for aide, you chose to be productive using your talents. I encouraged you because you deserved it. I don't know of you have gotten products certificates but I can see you are already packaging. By the grace of God, after agencies like AAFDAC and the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON), certify your products, we will arrange for a public presentation of your products, I will lead the launching and the Borno State Government will make you primary suppliers of soap, detergents and disinfectants in most of our hospitals, schools and other Government establishment including this Government House so that you create jobs for others that will market and sell your products. I will take some of your products like these detergents and test for sanitation purpose in my office. We will try to get you some machineries that will make you produce faster and in higher numbers. I believe you are using crude methods now. You deserve encouragement. I want to mainly make you serve as role models to other citizens whether displaced or not" Shettima said.

The Governor directed the State Commissioners for Education and Health to commence preliminary discussions with the IDP's for needs assessments of their products taking into cognizance the priority of supporting them to produce more and create jobs for other citizens they will engage in marketing, whole and retail sales as well as accounting.

Politics / Power Supply Improves At 3,528MW Generation by metroblogger: 2:03pm On Feb 01, 2017
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says that the nation’s power generation improved slightly to 3,528.90 megawatts on Feb. 1 from 2,662 megawatts on Jan. 22.

This figure was disclosed on the website of the Nigerian Electricity System Operator (SO), a sub-agency of the TCN, in its daily forecast on power generation in Lagos on Wednesday.

“The slight increase in generation is due to slightly increased gas supply to some Generating Companies (GENCOs) to boost operations.

“The total output of 3,528.90 megawatts from all the GENCOs on Wednesday has been transferred to the 11 distribution companies across the country,’’ the TCN sub-agency website said.

The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) operational report said the power sector dropped to 2,662.20 megawatt on Jan. 22 because of low water levels and challenge of accessing gas by GENCOs.

The report said the sector recorded highest system frequency of 51.50Hz and lowest system frequency of 48.80 Hz, while the highest and the lowest voltage recorded on Wednesday were 372KV and 300KV, respectively.

A reliable TCN official, who preferred anonymity, confirmed to NAN that the gas supply to generating companies had increased slightly, thereby, boosting operations.

The source said that the GENCOs inability to pay up the debts they owed the gas company also contributed to the drop in power generation on Jan. 22.

“Government’s intervention helped the gas company to allocate some gas to generating companies.’’

Another top official of Egbin Power Station, who also preferred to remain anonymous, said due to the slight increase in gas supply, the station now generates 400 megawatts as against the previous 150 megawatts.

The station, however, has a capacity to generate 1, 320 megawatts.

The official appealed for more gas supply to the station, so that it could fire all its five units.

According to the official, the GENCOs were equally being owed a huge amount of money by the Federal Government, which posed serious challenge to their operations.

“Gas to Power should not be politicised. Government should take issues of power very serious and find lasting solution to the lingering issues.

“The 400 megawatts Egbin generated was wheeled out to the national grid at 6.00 am on Wednesday,’’ he said.

Politics / Nigeria Customs Release Statement Over Guns Intercepted In Lagos by metroblogger: 11:55am On Jan 31, 2017
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has explained how it intercepted and seized a massive weapons haul of 661 brand new pump-action rifles in Lagos state.

In a press statement delivered by the Comptroller-General of NCS Hameed Ali at a briefing in Lagos on Monday, January 30, the outfit said the guns were intercepted on Sunday, January 22.

The statement read: "On Sunday 22nd January 2017, the Roving Team of the NCS Federal Operations Unit while on information patrol intercepted a Mack truck with registration number BDG 265 XG conveying a 1x40ft Container with Number: PONU/825914/3along Mile 2 Apapa road.

"The truck was immediately taken to the premises of FOU Zone A,Ikeja where Physical examination revealed 49 boxes containing a total number of 661 pieces of pump action rifles concealed with steal doors and other merchandize goods."

The Customs clarified that the actions of the importer contravened the provisions of the Nigerian laws and it is even more so given the fragile level of security in the country at the moment.

It added: "These Rifles are under absolute prohibition; therefore its importation is illegal. Such deadly contravention of the law is even more unacceptable considering the fragile security situation in some parts of the country."

The Customs confirmed the arrest of three people in connection with the importation of the large arms. They suspects' names were given as: Oscan Okafor (Importer) age 51, Mahmud Hassan (Clearing Agent) age 56 and Sadique Mustapha (who accompanied the consignment to its destination) age 28.

Hameed Ali says more arrests could still be made as an investigation has been opened into the matter.

He said: "Investigation has already commenced and I have directed that the drag net should be wide enough to fish out all persons involved in the importation and clearing of the consignment. Already, the Officers involved in the clearance of this container are with the Comptroller FOU Zone ‘A’Ikeja."

Politics / Nigerians Blast Prof. Akindele Adetoye For Calling Him An Illiterate by metroblogger: 11:42am On Jan 31, 2017
The Professor who took to his Facebook page to lash out on Nigeria’s Music Legend, Mr. Innocent Idibia popularly know as TuBaba for expressing his desire to join the February 5th National Protest has come under a severe attack on Social Media.

Professor Akindele Adetoye, a Professor at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, posted on his Facebook time line that Tuface cannot lead a protest because he is an illiterate, that he does not have the moral right to do so, because he gave birth to multiple children with different women which he did not marry.

The professor’s comment reads:
“You are a bloody illiterate. You had sex with all manners of girls without using condoms. You impregnated them and made babies all over the place. You now want to lead protest against the government because of lack of governance! Have you governed your own personal life? Charity, they say begins at home. Nonsense!”

His Facebook comment went viral with massive knocks from Nigerians, people took to social media to call the Prof all sort of names with rain of insults.
A Facebook user questions the genuiness of his PhD certificate, that a man who claimed to be a Professor should understand what is happening in the country better, that the people needs a revolution against the bad governance that has put Nigerians at a disadvantage position, which Mr Akindele is trying to blackmail the organizers and its intending participants.

Politics / Buhari May Live Longer Than Those Peddling His Death Rumour —oshiomhole by metroblogger: 2:59pm On Jan 29, 2017
Erstwhile governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has described the rumoured death of President Muhammadu Buhari as mischievous, saying the rumour is an indication of a longer life for the President.

Oshiomhole, who spoke during the bye-election conducted in Etsako Federal constituency, yesterday, said he had been holidaying in his village at Iyamho, which, according to him, will afford him the opportunity to contribute his quota to the upliftment of his community.

The former governor cautioned those spreading the rumour about the alleged death of Buhari to remember what happened to those who initiated the rumour about the death of Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, a former ceremonial president of Nigeria.

He recalled that all those in the burial committee for Azikiwe later died while the former politician was alive.

“If Nigeria medical doctors find cause for you to go and do routine medical check, why would anybody make it an issue that any Nigeria including our President should be denied the right for a medical check? Why would that be an issue and we like to speculate the worst? It is an unnecessary controversy” Oshiomhole said.

“He is entitled to his vacation and we have seen US President going to Camp David to have a rest. We saw Cameron photograph wearing bikini with his wife in Spain on vacation. If you journalists don’t go on vacation, it is because you have not fought for your right to take out time from your work.”

On how he has been spending his time outside office, Oshiomhole said he has been enjoying good rest just as he said his life in office will be detailed in his memoir.

Politics / I Have Not Visited Buhari In London – Idris, IGP by metroblogger: 9:38pm On Jan 25, 2017
The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has debunked the media report that said he led “a high powered delegation to visit President Muhammadu Buhari in London.

President Muhammadu Buhari is on a two week vacation in London and doubts have been raised about his true state of health.

Idris, in a statement signed by Don Awunah, Force Public Relations Officer said contrary to media report, he was in London on an official visit to London on the invitation of SO15, the London Metropolitan Police Service.

The SO15 is part of the Metropolitan Police Service Counter Terrorism Command that works for the protection of London and the United Kingdom, against threats of terrorism.

“Contrary to the compelling objectives of the planned visit, however, some sections of the Nigerian online and print media are disseminating invented and incorrect stories, and misrepresenting facts regarding the official visit of the IGP to the United Kingdom.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the IGP did not lead “a high powered delegation” to visit President Mohammadu Buhari, who is on vacation in London. The visit of IGP to London while the President is on vacation is merely coincidental. The statement read

Politics / EFCC Seeks Permanent Forfeiture Of Diezani’s N9.08bn by metroblogger: 8:18am On Jan 25, 2017
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to order the forfeiture of N9.billion allegedly laundered for former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Allison-Madueke.

The former minister who is currently in London in a recent statement that she did not steal any funds belonging to the government.

Justice Muslim Hassan had on January 6 ordered the forfeiture of N23,446,300,000 and $5milion (about N1.5billion) said to be stashed in banks.

Rotimi Oyedepo, EFCC counsel urged the court on Tuesday to order the permanent forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government.

Oyedepo said the Advance Fee Fraud and other Related Offences Act makes a property that is reasonably suspected by EFCC to be proceeds of unlawful act forfeitable to the Federal Government.

“Can it be said that from the facts and circumstances of this case, that the N9,080,000,000.00, which is the naira equivalent of $40million cannot be reasonably suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activity?” Oyedepo asked.

Charles Adeogun, lawyer to Executive Director of First Bank Plc, Dauda Lawal, asked the court to order a refund, stating that the funds were siezed by the EFCC through coercion.

Adeogun argued that his client admitted having received $25 million on Mrs. Alison-Madueke’s behalf, but was coerced by the commission to further admit receiving $65 million.

Oyedepo however said there was a conspiration between Adeogun and some NNPC officials to launder the money.

“My lord, paragraph 4 of our reply affidavit shows a meeting of the minds of one Gbenga Komolafe, former Group Managing Director, Crude Oil Marketing Division of NNPC, Prince Haruna Momoh, former Group Managing Director, Petroleum Product Marketing company, Umar Farouk Ahmed, and Group Managing Director, Nigerian Product Marketing Company, Stanley Lawson, Babajide Sonoiki and the second respondent, Executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria.

“The evidence shows their agreement to retain and launder funds on behalf of the former Petroleum Minister Diezanni Alison-Madueke.

“It’ll amount to contesting the obvious to argue that the second respondent did not have knowledge of the source of the money,” Oyedepo said.

The lawyer denied that EFCC detained Lawal without a court order, adding that his statement was lawfully and voluntarily obtained.

He said Lawal admitted that the $40million was in his possession.

Oyedepo added: “I submit that the proper order your Lordship should make is the final forfeiture of the N9.08billion to the Federal Government being sum found in proceed of unlawful activity.

“I urge my Lord to hold that the second respondent (Lawal) has not shown good cause why the said sum should not be forfeited. The funds were recovered from him. The funds we’re seeking to attach is in possession of the second respondent.

“Having advertised to the whole world pursuant to the order of my lord and no one else came to claim the money except the second respondent, it’ll be appropriate to order the forfeiture of the N9.08billion.

“For the other respondents, in view of their failure to react to the case, they are deemed to have admitted the facts contained in our application.

“Since no one has shown cause in relation to N23,446,300,000 and the sum of $5milion, I, therefore, urge your lordship to order the forfeiture of the sums to the Federal Government finally.”

Justice Hassan adjourned until February 16 for judgment.

Politics / Rivers, Akwa Ibom Lose 200m Euros by metroblogger: 1:09pm On Jan 21, 2017
The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has urged Rivers and Akwa Ibom state governments to pay their 30 per cent required counterpart funding for the European Union (EU) water project.

The Minister, The Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani made the call in an interview with our correspondents in Abuja on Saturday.

He explained that the two states risk losing over 200 million euros grant by the end of January, If they fail to pay the required counterpart funding for the water project.

He said that five states were captured in the current phase of water and sanitation intervention development by the European Union (EU).

”Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, states have paid their 30 per cent counterpart fund of N350 million each, while Rivers and Akwa Ibom are yet to pay.

The Minister, however, said grace for extension of time has been used up by the two states.

According to him, such grace has been explored thrice between 2012 and 2015, hence, no such grace is available in accordance with EU rules.

“The ministry would physically meet with the defaulting Governors to ensure that the states fulfil their part of the agreement.”

Usani disclosed that the Delta, Edo and Bayelsa State governments had shown interest in providing more counterpart funds than stipulated in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to widen the scope of the projects in their respective states.

The minister said the payment would benefit the states even more because of the present devaluation of the Naira as against the Euro, which makes the cost in Euros for the project less than expected at the time of the design.

”Edo and Delta States are even ready to increase their share of the available 12 million euros by increasing further their counterpart funds,” he said

Usani said that the EU delegation to the Ministry was willing to ensure the sustainability of the Niger Delta Support Programme (NDSP) components programme.

He added that the ministry would create a budget line for the EU-Water Support Programme in the 2017 budget proposal.

He also requested for an extension of NDSP technical assistance for effective monitoring and the training of MNDA staff for sustenance of the EU projects in the region.

He, however, requested for EU’s direct engagement with the Ministry in the future, especially on 11 European Development Fund (EDF)

“I requested for an engagement with EU on the National Indicative Programme in the realisation of its mandate towards the nine oil producing states in the region.

“Other areas are Sustainable Energy and Access to Electricity, Rule of Law, Governance and Democracy, he added.

Recall that the NDSP has four components comprising employment opportunities and social services, public finance management, water and sanitation and micro-projects.

The objective is to mitigate the conflicts in the region by addressing the main causes of unrest and violence.

The water and sanitation components of this programme was mainly to enhance access to safe, adequate and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services.

Governor Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna State has promised to provide additional land for building of Methodists church in Kafanchan, Southern Kaduna

The governor who made the promise when he received the prelate of the Methodist Church Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche in his office also urged the Church not relocate from their present location.

He said: “I visited your church in Kafanchan after the violence. We are willing to give you another plot of land in Kafanchan, but please consider using it to build an additional church.

“We request that you do not abandon or relocate the church from your present site. Let us not succumb to the agents of blackmail and division.

“Your neighbors in Kafanchan must accept the right of that church to remain there. The current church should be rebuilt and maintained as a symbol of the right to worship freely.”

Malam El-Rufai said that the government is committed to securing the area and promoting a return to normalcy.

He disclosed that 10 mobile police squadrons are now deployed to the affected local governments, along with two battalions of the army.

He further requested that the religious leaders should discourage the tendency to allow criminals to hide behind religion.

“When individuals have problems or disputes, they should not be allowed to mobilize emotions by escalating their differences into an ethnic or religious conflict.”

Malam El-Rufai thanked the Methodists for showing solidarity with the people and government of Kaduna State in this trying moment.

Earlier in his remarks, the prelate of the Methodist Church Dr. Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu Uche urged Governor El-Rufai not to relent in his quest to restore peace and security in southern Kaduna.

Dr. Uche, who was speaking when he visited Malam El-Rufai in Kaduna, told the governor that he should take the blames flying around as the price of leadership.

“We note that you are being blamed over the violence in southern Kaduna. Please take that as the price of leadership. We know that the issue has been happening before your government. I remember the 1987 events vividly.

“We call on the people of Kaduna State to accept each other, to be tolerant, and to say no to violence. I have served in Kano. I do not see why we should fight each other. Nobody can Christianise or Islamise Nigeria. Let us learn to live together in peace. Religion should preserve lives. Anybody who kills is a criminal. Those who sponsor killings should be arrested.”

Dr. Uche, who was accompanied by the Methodist Bishops of Kaduna and Kano, said he came in solidarity with the people of Kaduna State. He informed Malam El-Rufai that the MedtodistChurch in Kafanchan was vandalized during the 19th December 2016 riot in Kafanchan. He requested for a new plot of land so that they can relocate the church.

“My church is affected by the violence in Kafanchan. We want your assistance with land to relocate the church and to rebuild it. We thank you for the plots of land you allocated to the Methodist Church in Abuja. I have seen your signature on the certificates of occupancy, and I know that you have nothing against the Church.”

Politics / PHOTO: Premium Times’ Publisher Dapo Olorunyomi, Reporter Freed by metroblogger: 7:45am On Jan 20, 2017
Reports have it that the Nigerian Police have released the Premium Times publisher, Dapo Olorunyomi and his judicial correspondent, Evelyn Okakwu, who were arrested early Thursday evening.

The two were released on bail and instructed to report at the FCT Police Command Headquarters by 8:00 a.m. Friday morning.

But a highly-placed police source said the invitation could be a ploy to detain the journalists for an extended period.

The police source said there are chances that the two could be taken before a Magistrate’s Court.

“From what I understand, if they report tomorrow morning, they will be taken to a Magistrate’s Court and arraigned before a judge that will readily comply with the police arrangement and grant order for them to be detained. That way, they can then claim to be detaining them legally,” the source said.

The development has sparked widespread condemnation, with the Amnesty International promising to launch an investigation into the motive behind it.

The journalists were arrested after several plain-clothed officers raided PREMIUM TIMES office.

The newspaper’s managing editor, Idris Akinbajo, hailed the “overwhelming” support from Nigerians and readers around the world.

He said the paper would release a full statement after the journalists meet the police Friday morning.

Politics / Buhari Was Deliberately Shut Out Of Trump’s Inauguration - Fayose by metroblogger: 9:06pm On Jan 19, 2017
Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has described the non-extension of invitation to President Muhammadu Buhari to attend United States of America President-Elect, Donald Trump's inauguration as a clear signal that Buhari does not enjoy international relevance any more.

The governor, who said the 10 days vacation announced by the president could be to cover up the embarrassment, after all efforts to secure invitation to the inauguration failed, added that the development was a very clear signal that Buhari's government will not enjoy tangible support from the new US government, adding that.

According to a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, Fayose said "there is no doubt that Buhari is not in the good books of the incoming US government," arguing that Buhari's frequent visit to US during Obama administration and the romance was due to the tacit support given to Buhari by Obama to win the 2015 election with deception.

He said; "with Obama's role in the emergence of President Buhari, it can be said that he (Obama) is a member of the APC in the diaspora."

Fayose continued; "There is more to it that in an important event like the inauguration of a new US President, our president will be missing in action."

The governor wondered why the same Buhari, who was a regular visitor to the US under Obama, is today not part of the historic inauguration of a new administration.

"No doubt, something is fundamentally wrong because if there is hope of a future relationship between President Buhari and the new US President, they would have been celebrating his inauguration and would not have allowed Nigerians to hear any other news apart from Buhari going to America.

"Obviously, Buhari's junketing to US that gulped $1 million per trip, has come to an inglorious end," he said.

The governor, who congratulated Trump for winning against all odds, like he (Fayose) won his own election in Ekiti in 2014, appealed to the new American president to do everything humanly possible to save Nigeria from the wanton killings and horrid human rights abuses of the Buhari administration.

He enjoined Trump to use his good offices to look into the daily killings in Nigeria particularly in Southern Kaduna where over 1,000 people were slaughtered like goats and buried in mass graves.

Fayose reiterated; "The Southern Kaduna killings is a clear case of genocide that must be thoroughly investigated and unraveled.

"To make matters worse was the bombing of the Internally Displaced Persons camp by the military in apparent desperation to cover up the corruption and mismanagement of affairs in the camp.

"We appeal to Trump to ensure that the voice of the opposition is not silenced in this country."

Describing the emergence of Trump as the will of God despite human gang up, Fayose said that the opposition in Nigeria will work with the new American government.

Fayose also cited the reckless disobedience to court orders; the deliberate efforts to kill opposition and turn Nigeria into a one-party state; the intolerance of this administration which is second to none, victimization and hacking of opposition leaders' telephone conversations under the guise of anti-corruption war; the bastardization of institutions of state such as the armed forces, INEC, Police, Department of State Security, compromising of a section of the Judiciary, and turning them all into jellies doing the bidding of the ruling party at the snapping of fingers are other possible reasons why Buhari was not invited to Trump's inauguration.

He implored the new American president to put international pressure on the Buhari administration to restore true democracy to Nigeria.

"We however appreciate the non invitation of Buhari because that will give him the much needed opportunity to face the problems he inflicted on Nigeria, especially the IDP bombing, which left over 100 hapless Nigerians dead," he said.

Celebrities / 'there's Crisis In Tonto Dikeh's Marriage' - Sources by metroblogger: 9:00pm On Jan 12, 2017
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh is in the news again and for her sake we hope it's false. Word got out that her 17-month old marriage to hubby and philanthropist Oladunni Churchill is in trouble.

There were reports online today that there was allegedly another woman in the mix...but many didn't take the report seriously until Tonto removed her husband’s name, Churchill from her IG handle, fueling speculations that their marriage is indeed is in crisis.

METRONAIJA reached out to one of Churchill's aide who spoke to us on the condition of anonymity saying, 'haba, there's no issues at all, why do people like making issues out of nothing. The fact that she changed her name on social media does not imply crisis, what if it's for a business purpose'.

However, another source in Tonto Dikeh's camp told us that, 'they had a small issue but honestly it's nothing am sure they are fine'.

A week ago, the actress shared a cryptic post on Instagram which partly reads, 'If that guy doesn't call you for two weeks, he doesn't like you as much as you like him. If that important meeting keeps on getting rescheduled, it means it is not that important to the other party. Remember your happiness starts with you. Not with your relationship. Not with your friends. Not with your job. But with you. Things outside of you won't fix problems on the inside. Love yourself properly and people will love you'.

At the moment, It's still a developing story as there's no official statement from the couple.

Tonto Dikeh held her traditional wedding ceremony on August 29, 2015 at her hometown Rumukani in Rumukwuta, Obiokpor L.G.A Rivers State.

A statement from Army spokesman Brigadier General Sani Usman said the story title: “EXCLUSIVE: Nigeria raises troops for Gambia, ready to remove Yahya Jammeh,” is not true.

He said the Nigerian Army wishes to disassociate itself from such false information that exists only in the figment of the imagination of the medium.

Usman noted that there was no time or place Nigerian Army disclosed such information to the medium. If there is any, we challenge them to name the officer or soldier that gave them such information and when.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Nigerian Army is not planning to attack any country,” he added.

He said such reckless and unprofessional conduct is not expected of any reputable and responsible news medium as it is inimical to national security.

He added that the publication apart from being false in its entirety, it is unethical and capable of endangering the lives of Nigerians in diaspora.

He demanded that the medium always clarify such matters affecting national security and diplomatic issues that may endanger the safety and security of Nigerians abroad to avoid such misleading and embarrassing publication.
