A Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) member identified as @Villageparrot on Twitter, took to the platform to call out the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye over the controversial tithing issue.

According to the Twitter user, Pastor Adeboye is a fraud.
He further stated that spiritual leader, Guru Maharaji will make heaven ahead of some of the acclaimed annointed pastors.

Only thing Pastor Adeboye knows how to do is stand on that pulpit to ask people to donate billions of Naira to build more church branches. Please, how is this any different from a business model?

Six members of a family in Gitata, Nasarawa State have been paralysed by a strange disease, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), learnt.

The six are the children of the late Danladi Bawa and usually suffer the affliction after turning 18 years, the eldest male in the family, Mr Danlami Danladi, said.

Danladi told NAN in the family compound in Gitata on Saturday that their father died in 1990, while their mother died in 2017 but not from the disease.

“My name is Danlami Danladi, I am 38 years old; as you can see, our parents are late.

“My father died in 1990 after a brief illness and our mother died in 2017 from malaria and typhoid attack.

“Our parents did not die of this disease. They gave birth to eight of us and six of us have been paralysed by a mysterious ailment.

“When we grow up and reach the age of 18, we find ourselves paralysed. We don’t know what happens and this kind of disease.

“When my father died in 1990, it was our mother that usually provided us with our needs. Her death affected us more as we find it difficult to eat and take care of our medical treatment.

“I am the second born of our parents and I was paralysed in 2006. And let me tell you what disturbs us is that, six of us were paralysed when we were above the age of 18.

“It was after we grew up and we don’t know what is happening to our family.

“All of us went to Federal Medical Centre, Keffi and Godiya Clinic, Jabba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, after various tests, they told us that nothing was discovered.

“We pray that we will be healed of this mysterious disease one day,” he said.

Danladi appealed to the federal and state governments as well as well-meaning Nigerians to come to their assistance through the provision of foodstuffs as well as medical needs.

He said that because of their conditions they could not fend for themselves.

“I was repairing handsets before but now I cannot do the job because I have been paralysed and I pray that God will heal me and my brothers and sisters from this kind of mysterious disease,” he added.

Other members of the family are Asabe, married and has five children, Pius, Maikasuwa, Danjuma and Cecelia, all paralysed.

Their siblings, Hanatu and Joshua are the ones free of the disease, being the youngest members of the family.

Mr Shuaibu Ahmadu, a resident and hunter in the area, said the people were shocked by the affliction and prayed God to heal them.

“This disease will only paralyse them when they grow up, we wonder why.

“We pray God to heal them and protect the remaining two children of the family from the disease,” Ahmadu said. (NAN)

Second Republic lawmaker and politician, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has warned that there would be no peace in the country for the next for years if President Muhammadu Buhari contests and win the 2019 Presidential election

He said: “There are a number of scenarios. One scenario is possibly that he may not contest the election. If he’s selected as the anointed presidential candidate of his party and he didn’t win the election, it would be rigged in his favour – and if that happens, I want to assure you that from the day they announced the election results, until the end of the four years, there would be no peace in this country. If the APC government went ahead to rig 2019 elections, there would be trouble. I cannot tell you the nature of the trouble.”

He also added that there is no basis for Buhari to win the 2019 general election

“I challenge Buhari to tell me one thing he has done for this country. If he got re-elected, it might be because of tribal sentiments or geopolitical sentiments,” he pointed out.

According to Mohammed, Buhari is a glorified President under the control of a group of people and whose anti-corruption war is designed to make his relatives and friends rich.

“I will describe him as thoroughly incompetent. He has (always) been clueless. He is out of touch with reality. This President cannot do anything without the power of the group that has a stranglehold on him. He doesn’t have any strength intellectually.

The people he surrounds himself with are only looking after themselves. We’re in very serious trouble because of a man who is timid – a glorified President who cannot explain himself well,” the former lawmaker claimed.

Last night, Nollywood film New Money premiered at the IMAX Cinemas in Lekki.

The star-studded movie was directed by Tope Oshin and stars Jemima Osunde, Kate Henshaw, Osas Ighodaro, Dakore Egbuson Akande and Adeolu Adefarasin, who were all spotted at the premiere alongside Blossom Chukwujekwu, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Lota Chukwu and Ufuoma McDermott.

Set in Lagos, Nigeria, New Money was written by Chinaza Onuzo and follows the life of Toun Odumosu, a young aspiring designer whose life changes following the death of an absentee tycoon father who left her to fill his shoes.

The comedy drama follows her coming to terms with her newfound riches and takes the audience through her journey as she tries to successfully merge her newfound wealth with her old life.

Former Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, visited former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at her home.

According to the US-based pastor, the visit afforded both the opportunity to exchange copies of their books.

Omokri, who posted photos from the visit via his verified Twitter handle, expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon get to a stage where ethnic and gender bias would become a thing of the past, paving the way for a woman like Okonjo-Iweala to become the country’s president.

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has lashed out at Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State after herdsmen murdered 25 people on Thursday.

Fani-Kayode, writing on his Twitter page, said he hoped Bello who is a “staunch supporter of Buhari, is clapping for himself”.

He tweeted: “Fulani herdsmen killed 25 innocent people in Kogi state today and abducted 2 WAEC officials in Oyo state.
“I sincerely hope that the Governor of Kogi state, who is a staunch supporter of Buhari, is clapping for himself.

“Those who ride on a tiger’s back usually end up in its stomach.”

The herdsmen were said to have attacked two communities in Dekina local government area namely Oganienugwu and Ikende and also Abejukolo in Omala local government area, all in the Eastern Senatorial district of the state.

Villagers were reportedly moving out of Obakume, Idirisu and Oji Apata to escape the rampaging Fulani herdsmen.

The African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL), has called on the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, to urgently intervene and void the sack of a lecturer, Mr Joseph Akeju, whose appointment was terminated by the governing council of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Lagos, for exposing corrupt practices at the institution.

Mr. Akeju, a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy at Yabatech was dismissed for seven years for using his position then, as bursar, to expose corrupt practices at the College.

Although he was recalled in 2016 after the Minister of Education gave the directive for his immediate reinstatement, Akeju who has worked for 31 years at Yabatech may be denied his entitlements due to the recent termination of his appointment by the college’s governing council, just a few days to his retirement.

In a letter signed by its Coordinator, Chido Onumah, AFRICMIL, a civil society organisation committed to creating awareness and advancing the safety of whistleblowers, said it was imperative for the Minister of Education to look into the case of Mr. Akeju as any step taken to deny him his entitlements as a patriotic and upright retiring public servant will spell doom for the fight against corruption.

AFRICMIL expressed sadness over Mr. Akeju’s predicament and urged the Minister of Education to protect the interest of the lecturer who had blown the whistle against corruption.

According to AFRICMIL, Akeju’s recent dismissal by the management of Yabatech was pure vendetta to prevent him from getting his entitlements.

“Mr. Akeju is due for retirement from public service on 20th of March, 2018, but the chairman of the governing council, in a glaring act of desperation, perfected a scheme to deny him a dignified and honourable exit with the purported dismissal,” the letter noted.

AFRICMIL described the dismissal of Mr. Akeju as “vengeful, malicious and unjust,” noting that the action of the governing council of Yabatech was unmistakably a retaliation for Mr. Akeju’s outspokenness on the mismanagement and lack of openness and accountability perpetrated by the current governing council.

AFRICMIL said the continuous intimidation of Nigerians who have chosen to expose corruption will not only be a setback for the anti-corruption fight, but will also make it difficult for anyone to blow the whistle.

The Federal Government has congratulated Mo Abudu, Chimamanda Adichie and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, over the honours recently bestowed on them on the global stage, calling them great ambassadors of Nigeria.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the three honorees are iconic women in the Creative Industry who have brought great honour not only to themselves, their families and their industry, but also to the country.

He described as well deserved the listing of Mo Abudu, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EbonyLife TV, and Nollywood star Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde among the top 50 women ”who are doing extraordinary things on the worldwide stage” by Variety magazine, a weekly American entertainment magazine.

Alhaji Mohammed also said the already well-adorned cap of Chimamanda Adichie has been further festooned after her novel, Americanah, was listed in the New York Times’ list of 15 remarkable books by women that are ”shaping the way we read and write fiction in the 21st century”.

He said the women are role models whose achievements will inspire a generation of young Nigerians to also do extraordinary things.

”Of more importance is the fact that these women’s achievements have transcended gender, nationality or race, placing them on the rarefied class of global, timeless achievers,” the Minister said.

He said the great honours bestowed on the women will further focus world attention on the nation’s burgeoning Creative Industry, thus placing it on the right pedestal to take the world by storm.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that he has not been informed of President Muhammadu Buhari’s proposed visit to the state.

He said if the visit is aimed at reviving the fortunes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) it will not work because the party is dead in the state.

Flagging off the reconstruction of Egbelu Street and construction of link roads in East-West in Rumuodara, Obio Akpor Local Government Area on Thursday, Governor Wike said that the Federal Government has not informed him on the President’s visit and the reason behind his visit.

He said: “I hear they say that the President is coming to our state. I have not been told the President is coming and why he is coming. He has the right to come to any state.

“Maybe the President is coming to make sure that he will improve the fortunes of the APC that is dead in Rivers State.

“Apart from Jesus Christ, we don’t know of anyone who has risen a dead thing. APC is a dead party in Rivers State. No matter how you fast and pray, it will never wake up”.

Governor Wike charged Rivers people not to be bothered the politics or otherwise of the visit, because the state is very peaceful.

“Let nobody bother him or herself that the President is coming for security reasons. We don’t have security challenges in the state.

“We have never had herdsmen killings or crisis in the state, except when some criminals tried to disrupt the peace and they were checked. We resolved that challenge. ”

He stated that there is no state in this country where kidnappers and armed robbers are not operating. He said if President Muhammadu Buhari is visiting because of Kidnappers and Armed Robbers, then he should visit all the 36 states.

He, however, noted that as the state’s that produces the wealth that supports the country, President is welcome to visit the wealth producers of the nation.

According to him: “Since the administration has abandoned Rivers State for three years, this visit may be a blessing in disguise. The President may use the visit to complete the Port Harcourt International Airport, the neglected East West road, the neglected sea ports and the rejected Port Harcourt-Aba road”.

Speaking on the road, Governor Wike said the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Jaja drew his attention to the challenges faced by residents of the populated surburb.

He urged the people to cooperate with the contractors to ensure scheduled completion of the road.

Commissioner of Works, Dum Dekor said the seven roads will be completed in six months, while the project will offer employment to 230 youths.

The Works Commissioner noted that the road construction will also resolve the environmental challenges facing the residents.

Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area Caretaker Committee, Prince Noble Amadi praised the governor for key projects across the area, assuring him of total support in 2019.

According to Variety, a weekly American entertainment trade magazine, the 50 women on the list are “doing extraordinary things on the worldwide stage” with special focus on the entertainment industry.

Abudu’s profile on the magazine’s website; Variety.com read: “Abudu used her star-making springboard as the face of daytime talkie ‘Moments With Mo’ to launch the EbonyLife empire.

“With a film production unit and upscale lifestyle TV network; she’s been dubbed the Oprah of Africa.

“‘As a woman in a male-dominated industry, I’ve had to be strong, focused and relentless and work twice as hard as the men around me,’ she says.

“Although she says that, “at heart, I think I am an activist first.

“Her next step is developing a film village in the former slave port of Badagry, where she wants young Nigerians to hone their filmmaking skills while learning about “our rights and future as Africans,” they said.

Reacting to the news, Abudu excitedly shared a post on Thursday on her instagram page @moabudu, writing:
