Family'how My Naija Husband Saved Me From My Mum' - Kenyan Woman by metroparrot(op): 11:23am On Jan 25, 2016
Found this interesting story on Nairobi News. Read below...

"I am one of those people who say they got pregnant by accident. I got pregnant at 19 just in my second year of university. I didn’t expect to get pregnant because I took the necessary precautions. From the beginning I wasn’t sure in my mind whether I should keep the baby. The father had already denied me.

I didn’t have a father figure in my life so I didn’t know what to do. I thought of how I was going to tell my mom, I didn’t know how she would react, especially being that I am the first and only child. I didn’t even know where to start. I felt I had already let her down.

WORST FEAR
My worst fear became a reality; my mom became harsh with me. It was like a switch in her flipped. She even refused to be associated with me.
She didn’t want a kid who was in my kind of situation; forced to drop out of school in second year. She abused me, verbally and physically.
I had never seen this side of my mother. We only had each other and I thought that would never change. Yet there she was, the one person I thought would always be there for me, turning her back on me.

RAN AWAY

Everything was too much. I ran away. I had to escape because even my own mother wanted me to get rid of the baby. I had already made up my mind that I was going to have it. With some money saved up, I decided to start a small business. I prepared chips and crisps and sold them. I rented a shack and used it as my house, paying Kshs. 1,500 rent every month. I had to survive. I couldn’t let my baby down.

Through a friend I found out my aunt had relocated to Nairobi. I was unsure on how she would react to me being pregnant. She was very close to my mom. I took the risk and went to see her; I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
My aunt decided to secretly help me because she knew I didn’t want my mother getting involved. She used to visit me in my shack, every day until I gave birth.

SAVING GRACE

Giving me advice and checking on how baby and I were doing. She was the saving grace that I badly needed. I had no one. She gave me the love and care that my own mother denied me. When I finally gave birth, I couldn’t imagine that I wanted to get rid of someone so innocent. I imagined how I would have felt if I got an abortion. It made me hate myself for a while. I had to find a way to love myself again. It helped that no one in the area knew my story. They just saw me as a stranger with a baby.

Then I met a man. He always wondered how such a young girl was so stressed. I told him my story, he told me his. I kept on asking myself why anyone would be interested in someone like me. As time went by, we became friends. I didn’t have friends. I had been rejected by everyone and was raising a baby on my own.

NAIJA MAN
He was nice to me and wanted to take care of me. He sort of felt sorry for me. He gave us-my baby and I- an apartment to live in. He also sent me money. Enough money to ensure the baby got everything she needed. I was even able to finish my education.
He took me to Nigeria and gave me money to start my own salon business. When he asked me to marry him, how could I refuse?
He took me and my baby in as his own. He took us from nothing and gave us everything. I knew for once, God remembered that I exist."

PoliticsThose Who Stole From Nigeria Have Newspapers, Radio & TV Stations - Lai Mohammed by metroparrot(op): 10:37am On Jan 25, 2016
The Federal Government says it is aware that those who mismanaged the wealth of the country have been using their influence to frustrate its anti-corruption campaign. Speaking in Lagos on Sunday, The Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed said “Let me remind you, gentlemen, that radicalisation is a key causative factor of terrorism… ‘We know that those who stole us dry are powerful. They have newspapers, radio and television stations and an army of supporters to continuously deride the government’s war against corruption.”
He said the current administration would not be discouraged by the ploy of its opponents, describing as an incentive, the commendation which US secretary of state Mr. John Kerry, gave to President Muhammadu Buhari on his anti-graft fight, Mohammed said the battle must be won for the nation to achieve sustainable growth. At a speech delivered during the just-concluded World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Kerry lauded the current administration. Mohammed said he would soon kick-start a series of town hall meetings across the country to take the sensitisation campaign, which he launched in Abuja last Monday, directly to Nigerians. ”The federal government is delighted that the anti-corruption war being led by President Muhammadu Buhari has been acknowledged and applauded on a global stage,” he said. ”It is particularly gratifying that in that speech, Mr Kerry made the link between corruption and terrorism. We agree that corruption is indeed a radicaliser because it destroys faith in legitimate authority. “Let me remind you, gentlemen, that radicalisation is a key causative factor of terrorism… ‘We know that those who stole us dry are powerful. They have newspapers, radio and television stations and an army of supporters to continuously deride the government’s war against corruption.

“But we are undaunted and will not relent until corruption is also decimated.” Mohammed said corruption was responsible for the endemic poverty in the country, noting that whereas Nigeria’s national budget has increased from just over N900 billion in 1999 to over N6 trillion in 2016, poverty has also increased almost by the same proportion. “The reason is not far-fetched: Appropriated funds have mostly ended up in the pockets of a few looters,” he said.

”When the money meant to construct roads is looted, the end result is that the roads are not built and the people suffer and even die in avoidable road accidents. When the money meant to provide electricity is looted, we all are perpetually sentenced to darkness. When the money meant for healthcare is pocketed by a few, we are unable to reduce maternal and infant mortality. These are the costs of corruption.” He faulted the view that the government was dwelling too much on the war against corruption to the detriment of other areas of governance. “The situation is very grim indeed, as far as corruption is concerned. That is why the federal government is embarking on this sensitisation Campaign,” he said. “Our approach – which is to count the cost of corruption – is not to vilify anyone but to use facts and figures to give Nigerians a sense of what corruption has done to their lives.”

Politics7 Good Reasons Why Court Granted Olisa Metuh N400m Bail by metroparrot(op): 2:15pm On Jan 20, 2016
The Abuja Division of the Federal High Court, yesterday, granted N400 million bail to the embattled National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Olisa Metuh.

Metuh, who is answering to a seven-count criminal charge preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Alongside his firm, Destra Investment Limited, charged before the court with over alleged N400 million fraud involving the Office of the National Security Adviser.

www.metronaija.com prepared 7 good reasons why Justice Abang, in his bench ruling yesterday, said he was favourably disposed to granting bail to the accused person (Olisa Metuh) based on the following:

- His lead counsel, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, who argued the application, yesterday, urged the court to grant his client bail on self recognition.

- That Metuh's offence are ordinarily bailable

- That Olisa Metuh voluntarily submitted himself to the EFCC.

- That Olisa had every opportunity to escape from the country prior to the time he was invited by the anti-graft agency, but refused to do so.

- Metuh's Counsel also drew the attention of the court to the fact that the former NSA, Dasuki, and other persons also facing similar charges by the EFCC have all secured bail from different courts.

- The Court said that the EFCC could not establish its allegation that the accused person destroyed his statement.

- That Olisa Metuh is in the eyes of the law presumed innocent until proved guilty.

However, the court, yesterday, declined Metuh’s prayer for it to restrain the EFCC from re-arresting him upon fulfilment of the conditions.

While adjourning full-blown hearing on the matter till January 25, the judge asked the EFCC to summon its witnesses to be prepared for trial.

CelebritiesMistakes Lovers Make While Using A Condom by metroparrot(op): 1:23pm On Jan 12, 2016
Avoid these mistakes to make sure you stay protected.

1. Not checking for visible damage. Nearly 75% of people never bother looking for tears or holes -- even if they use their teeth to open the packet (don't!) or snag the condom on their jewelry or fingernails.

2. Not checking the expiration date. Yes, that little date printed on the wrapper is news to 61% of users. Condoms last very long - up to 5 years for plain ones, though only 2 years or so for those with a spermicide, which gradually breaks down the latex. If a condom is sticky or brittle, toss it.

3. Putting it on late in the action. About 43% of students in a sex-behavior study donned the condom after penetration had already occurred. Presumably they didn't know that some sperm can be released before the final fireworks, posing pregnancy and STD risks.

4. Not leaving room at the top. It's apparently news to four out of 10 condom users that before putting it on, you need to gently squeeze the tip of the condom to remove any trapped air and leave space for the sperm. Otherwise, the condom's more likely to break.

5. Putting it on wrong. Don't you hate when that happens? About 30% of people put it on inside out and don't realize that an inside-out condom is more likely to slip off. The safest thing to do? Start with a new one. The right way: The condom should look a little like a ski cap with the bottom edges rolled up (not under). The cap should fit over the penis so that the brim unrolls easily down the shaft.

6. Slipping off during sex. To find a good fit, buy a variety of styles and sizes (there really aren't that many choices) and try them at leisure. Remember, natural lambskin sounds nice and can prevent pregnancy, but it doesn't protect against the viruses that cause AIDS, hepatitis, and herpes. Only latex can do that.

7. Taking the condom off too soon. Not a good idea. For the 15% of men who report doing this, losing an erection is a big reason. But erections can come and go during sex; besides, ejaculation can occur without an erection, bringing with it all the risks of pregnancy and STDs.

Lagos State Government yesterday shut down Owonifari market in the Oshodi, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, aimed at addressing the security challenges in the area.

Lagos State Government often arrested hoodlums in Oshodi for various robberies and other petty incidents.Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, lamented that the market has constituted a menace and an eyesore to the locality.

He added that they have relocated affected traders and shop owners to the newly built Isopakodowo market stalls at Bolade area in Oshodi. The government has also started fencing-off of the set-back on Agege Motor Road that stretches from Ilupeju end of Oshodi all the way to the PWD/Ikeja GRA end of the area.

He said that the fencing-off of the long stretch of the set-back is being undertaken to assist the Federal Government and the Nigerian Railway Corporation in particular with a view to beautifying it and safeguard lives along the railway corridor by discouraging street trading and indiscriminate use of the space.

In the statement, Ayorinde added that the Owonifari loop will be transformed into an ultra modern bus terminus with new bus shelters that are befitting of a structured park in a mega city.

He stated further that Oshodi will be sane and safe and a place where both traders and commuters would be pleased to visit and trade.

PoliticsAmaechi Spent N82million To Host Prof Soyinka To A Dinner - Rivers State by metroparrot(op): 6:48pm On Jan 05, 2016
Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Austin- Tam George, has expressed shock that former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi expended N82million to host Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka to a 3 hour dinner at a period he refused to pay salaries .

Addressing Government House, Port Harcourt correspondents on Tuesday, Dr Tam George said that the figures were contained in the hand over note prepared by the former Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information and Communication under the Amaechi administration.

He said : "A government that did not pay salaries, closed the courts , but the administration had the courage to expend N82million to fund a dinner for Prof Wole Soyinka.

"These are facts on ground. The Amaechi administration expended the money under the heading of borrowed funds."

The Information Commissioner : “ There is a massive propaganda machine out there misinforming the people about the policy direction of Governor Wike’s administration. They have to respect the will of the people. Instead, they go about spreading falsehood against the people of the state ".

He charged the news men to emphasize the developmental achievements of Governor Wike with facts because Rivers State is currently dealing with a “ disastrous legacy of abandoned projects” by the Rotimi Amaechi’s administration.

Dr. George who noted that the Wike administration is currently facing a combination of “ 85% information war” and “ political fundamentalism” also said the APC seeking to establish a “ political caliphate” in Rivers State, by installing Dr. Dakuku whose is a fake political candidate of the APC.

The Commissioner also described those who said Wike’ s government is serving only Ikwerre interests as talking “ anthropological nonsense” because he is running an all- inclusive of government of indigenes from the 23 LGAs of Rivers State.

CelebritiesDavido And BabyMama Fight Over Daughter by metroparrot(op): 6:41pm On Dec 30, 2015
Music star, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido and his sister, Miss Ashely Coco Adeleke have been accused of child abduction, www.metronaija.com can authoritatively report.

According to a petition addressed to the director general National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and seen by Naij.com, the pop singer is accused of “attempted child trafficking and abduction of miss aurora Imade Adeleke”.

A copy of the petition the newspaper has also been sent to the President, Vice President, Lagos state governor, the inspector general of police, the director general of the DSS and the managing director of FAAN.

The petitioner, Miss. Sophia Ajibola Momodu claimed she was tricked to visit the house of Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke’s half sister – Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke’s with her baby, Imade Aurora Adeleke on July 11, 2015.

“After getting to the house on Baderinwa Alabi Street, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, our client’s baby was forcefully taken from her and she was thrown out of the premises with the threat that she would be decisively dealt with if she ever bothered to return there. There were armed policemen in the premises and our client’s survival instinct prevailed on her to make her leave her breast suckling baby behind, with so much pain in her heart,” the petition reads in part.

Yesterday, Tuesday, 29 December, Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke reportedly tried to travel to Dubai with the baby but was stopped by Mrs. Modupe Mofikoya, an immigration officer who attended to the Adeleke travelling party.

Ms Sophia said with the help of her family members, including Mr Dele Momodu, she was determinedly resisted the attempt by Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, from taking her baby Aurora Imade Adeleke from Lagos yesterday.

“Our client believes that the pair are trying to take the child to America and thus put her out of the reach of the biological mother. At the moment, Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and our client’s daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke are still in Lagos and two of their respective international passports are in the custody of the airport immigration services.

“Our client’s fear now, is that Ashley Coco may use her Nigerian passport and Aurora Imade’s American passport to travel through other Nigerian or West African airports,” the petition added.

But speaking with our reporter, Kamal Ajiboye, Davido’s manager, denied the allegations raised in the petition.

“The baby was taken away from her due induced drugs found in her (baby) system which she obivioly got through the mother’s breast. David’s family is only helping her and the baby,” he told our reporter over the phone.

“David’s family prevented him (David) from reporting her to the NDLEA and as we speak, the baby was recently treated in Dubai. The baby cannot even breathe properly.

“The family has done everything to take care of the mother and child. We rented an apartment for her and she gets three hundred thousand naira monthly as upkeep. What else will the family do? To be honest, not sane family will take a child away from the mother for no reason,” Kamal explained.

We act as Solicitors for Miss. Sophia Ajibola Momodu, (hereinafter referred to as our client) whose instructions we have to forward this petition to your esteemed Agency.

Our client, a 27 year old, is the biological mother of a baby girl with name, Aurora Imade Adeleke, who was born on the 14th day of May 2015. The baby’s father is Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke (aka Davido). The father and mother are unmarried.

On the 11th July, 2015, our client was tricked to visit the house of Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke’s half sister – Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke’s with her baby, Imade Aurora Adeleke. After getting to the house on Baderinwa Alabi Street, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, our client’s baby was forcefully taken from her and she was thrown out of the premises with the threat that she would be decisively dealt with if she ever bothered to return there. There were armed policemen in the premises and our client’s survival instinct prevailed on her to make her leave her breast suckling baby behind, with so much pain in her heart.

By daybreak on the next day, our client was again at Ashley Coco Adeleke’s house to take her baby, but she was prevented by armed policemen from gaining access into the house. She was again threatened and warned never to return for the child.

Since July 2015, our client, who has now become so disorientated, saddened and confused has been going to family members, including her cousin, Mr Dele Momodu, and other well meaning Nigerians to intervene and allow her get her baby back or at least allow her to be able to have access to and care for her daughter. This was frustrated by Coco Adeleke, David Adeleke and their father, Mr. Adedeji Adeleke. These people boasted to our client and all her family and friends that our client is a nonentity and of little substance in Nigeria. They also claim that they have the financial wherewithal and political and security clout to deal with her and her family anyhow and without any consequence with the aid of their brother and uncle, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, and other friends Mr Deji Adeleke purportedly has in government. In a bid to justify their actions, Mr Deji Adeleke and his daughter, Ashley Coco Adeleke, have been spreading several malicious and unfounded allegations about our client.

While the attempts at finding a peaceful and lasting solution were still ongoing, on Tuesday the 29th December 2015, Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, tried to travel to Dubai with our client’s baby. The baby was meant to be flown out of the country with Nigerian and American passports. Prior to that date, our client and her cousin, Mr Dele Momodu, had gone to alert the immigration services at the Murtala Mohammed, Ikeja International airport of the likelihood of Ashley Coco Adeleke travelling with our client’s baby by pretending to be the Mother. Our client believes that her baby’s American passport was hidden and is now likely to be in possession of Mr Deji Adeleke or Ashley Coco Adeleke. It appears that the assistance of Emirates Airline was sought as the baby’s American passport was not produced in breach of aviation regulations. Neither was a letter of authority from the mother to confirm her consent to the trip produced despite the airline being alerted.

When Mrs. Modupe Mofikoya, the immigration officer who attended to the Adeleke travelling party accosted Ashley Coco Adeleke and asked for the mother of the baby, Ashley Adeleke claimed that she was the mother. Immediately, the immigration officer on duty collected her Nigerian international passport, she quickly absconded from the scene with the baby and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, showed up shortly afterwards to try to clear his daughter’s mess.

Our client with the help of her family members, including Mr Dele Momodu, determinedly resisted the attempt by Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and her father, Mr Deji Adeleke, from taking Aurora Imade Adeleke from Lagos yesterday. Our client believes that the pair are trying to take the child to America and thus put her out of the reach of the biological mother.

At the moment, Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke and our client’s daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke

are still in Lagos and two of their respective international passports are in the custody of the airport immigration services. Our client’s fear now, is that Ashley Coco may use her Nigerian passport and Aurora Imade’s American passport to travel through other Nigerian or West African airports.

We know that the actions of Mr Deji Adeleke and Miss Ashley Coco Adeleke contravene many provisions of the law. One is Section 13 of the Childs Right Law 2007 of Lagos State (as adapted from the Federal Act), which guarantees Aurora Imade Adeleke’s right to parental care and protection. That law also forbids separation of a child from her parents. Another is Section 24 of the same law, which also prohibits abduction of a child from the lawful custody of her parents. Neither Mr Deji Adeleke or Ms Ashley Coco Adeleke has any lawful right to the custody of Aurora Imade Adeleke. Even the unmarried father, Mr David Adedeji Adeleke, only has limited rights to the child and certainly not to the exclusion of our client, the natural mother as the Adeleke’s are trying to do.

We are of the sound view that your Agency is the most viable organisation that can intervene in the plight of our client and save her from the untold trauma that she is going through in the hands of Mr Deji Adeleke and Ashley Coco Adeleke, who has her own child that she keeps with her. We have advised our client about the statutory powers of your Agency to potently investigate and enforce all the provisions of the law that deal with abduction and trafficking in persons.

We urge you to use your good offices to intervene in the case of our client and protect a baby who should still be under her mother’s care from being abducted and smuggled abroad.

We thank you.

Yours faithfully,

O. AJAYI & CO./Gbolaga Ajayi Esq.

PoliticsBuhari Should Hand Over To Osinbajo- Fayose by metroparrot(op): 7:48am On Dec 16, 2015

Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose has called on President Buhari to handover to Vice President Osinbajo if he does not have any clue to solving Nigeria's problems. He said this while signing the N67.04 billion 2016 appropriation bill of the state into law today December 15th

“Enough of these flimsy excuses. President Buhari has to fulfill all his electoral promises to the people. If he has no clues to all these problems, he should hand over to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo or whoever and bow out honourably.
What President Buhari promised us is change but what we have under this government is dwindling economy, low power generation, proposed subsidy removal, high level poverty and naira devaluation. For the president to have told Nigerians to brace up for more hardship in 2016 is the most callous of a man who promised Nigerians change.”
