The story as narrated by Minority Report NG. At around 8am yesterday August 31st, 5 indigenes of Tanti in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State, comprising of 3 men and two women set out to Mai Katako market in Bokkos. One of the women had her 3 month old baby with her.

The group was attacked before they got to the market. The gunmen shot the 5 adults and the baby and hacked the faces of the adults with machetes. According to him, the baby survived and is currently receiving proper medical attention in a hospital. See photos of those slaughtered after the cut..

This has been the story of Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsdat Orubebe, in the past few days.

After the initial attack, rebuttal and counter attack, it is now the turn of Oshiomhole to issue the rebuttal of the counter attack.

Oshiomhole, in his latest offering, described Orubebe as a thug, with a low thinking faculty, who is making noise for the sake of his next meal ticket.

The governor called Orubebe an illiterate, who is shameless, unruly and thuggish.

Oshiomhole released his latest swipe through his Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhira, on Thursday.

He said:

“Reading Godsday Orubebe’s infantile outburst saying that the governor of Edo State is a “garage boy,” easily exposes the boondocks orientation and lowly mind of someone, who almost plunged the country into political anarchy in the last general election.

“But for the maturity and sound leadership orientation of Professor Atahiru Jega, Nigeria would still have been reeking in utter anarchy and political protestations. With such indecorous conduct coming from a man who ostensibly is an “Elder’ of a Church, calls to question the whole essence of his character, personality, upbringing and spirituality.

It easily underscores one of the reasons why the Goodluck Jonathan administration failed abysmally to understand the nexus between promise and performance, between problems and solutions, and above all between prosperity and poverty.”

“Orubebe is no more than a common tout and political thug, too illiterate to know the difference between a “garage” and a “motor park,” recruited by his paymasters as Deputy Director-General of the 2015 Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation, and agent provocateur to truncate the last elections.

That singular conduct of his at the election is a living symphony of his egregious blunder, absurdities, incongruities and oddities, all of which are attributes of touts always desirous to make their voices heard.

“It is due to his amnesia that he forgot to understand that as a Nigerian and Governor of a State, Oshiomhole has statutory right to go in and out of the Presidential Villa to discuss issues that affect Edo State.

Former President Jonathan was President of Nigeria and not President of his party, the PDP. He was under obligation to attend to all parties and persons irrespective of their political affiliation.

“The real problem of former President Jonathan was having people like Orubebe, who pigeon-holed him as president of the Ijaw nation and prevented him from appreciating the enormity of the challenges facing the Nigerian nation.

To further compound the challenges was the dénouement of his unruly and thuggish imputation during the elections, such tendentious character index that is now synonymous with this Niger-Deltan.” that notorious script; such a shameless role by a shameless father who was supposed to be a role model for good parenting.”

Lagos Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has disclosed that the state consumes about N300 billion worth of rice annually, out of which the state produces little.



The governor, who received the Irish Ambassador Sean Hoy on Wednesday at the Lagos House, Alausa, Lagos, Soutwest Nigeria, hinted on plans by his government to boost food production.



“We cannot claim that we are self sufficient right now, but we have a plan to be able to let us feed ourselves at some point in time. It’s quite unfortunate right now that the state consumes almost like N300 billion worth of rice annually and what we have in terms of production is maybe like five percent.



“We are looking at a situation where we would expand the potentials of our farmers and cross into other states and be able to produce staple products for the people of Lagos. So if we have any partnership that can assist us in securing the future of our people in terms of agro-business, it would be highly welcomed,” he said.



He stated that his administration was looking to expand the agricultural sector and increase the production capacity of its farmers in the nearest future.



“One area that Lagos is really interested in is in the agro-business. I am very interested in the food security of this state. We have a population that is over 20 million and we should be able to plan properly the food security of the state,” he said.



Ambode who also met with a team of investors from the United Arab Emirates, led by Professor Pat Utomi, restated the commitment of his administration to evolve policies and initiatives that would transform the city state into a destination for investors across the globe.



He said in less than 100 days of his administration, efforts had been made to create an atmosphere for investors to look towards the direction of the state and for existing businesses to thrive.



“We’ve already created an Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment to directly deal with issues that relate to investors coming into Lagos.



“We are committed to a situation where we would create a new city where Africans and especially Nigerians in diaspora can be proud of and then we also can be proud of,” he said.



The governor said that the state’s commercial strength with a population predominantly youths, made it unarguably the home of the future of investment in Nigeria.



He assured the investors of his administration’s support in the areas they intend to partner with the government.



“We are happy to be associated with you. I want to give you our government’s commitment today that we are committed to the project that is being done by Smart City Dubai and other investors. We are also committed to giving government support in areas that would make investments easy.



“I want to let you know Professor Pat Utomi is somebody that has had endless passion to make this kind of investment happen in Lagos state. He’s been a major promoter of investment in Lagos and one is so excited. I want to commend you for being part of this initiative,” he said.



Ambode also restated his commitment to the rule of law as well as judicial and security sector reforms, saying the efforts are geared towards ensuring that business transactions are done transparently.



“We would give credence to integrity of this government to make sure that whatever is being done will protect Lagos as well as investors. That’s what we are committed to. Wherever it is that we can be of help to accelerate the delivery of the project, we would do it.



“I have no doubt that wherever Professor Utomi is involved, it comes with a huge sense of integrity and that’s why we would ensure that every aspect of making sure that this project is expanded, because I understand that whatever it is that you have done, you need government commitment also,” he stated.



Speaking, Utomi said the group of investors from the UAE is aspiring to play a role that will significantly change the business climate in the state, revealing that they are looking to invest as much as $10 billion in the state within a period of time.



“Smart City Dubai has a track record of transforming a desert village in one generation to the world’s business hub. My hope and my expectation is that this initiative will make that happen for Lagos and be part of the inspiration along with other projects that you are driving, Eko Atlantic and a host of others, to make this a hub for the economic emancipation of the black man,” he said.

As part of efforts to boost economic and trade relations between the two countries, President Boni Yayi of Republic of Benin has offered to build a Railway line all the way from Cotonou to Madakali, a border town with Kebbi State in Nigeria to boost economic relations.

A statement issued on Tuesday, August 18, in Birnin Kebbi, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Atiku Bagudu, Abubakar Muazu Dakingari, after the governors recent official visit to Benin Republic, following the directives by President Muhammadu Buhari to represent him, quoted President Yayi saying that, a similar railway to connect neighbouring countries of Niger Republic , Burkina Faso and Togo would also be constructed, in addition to that proposal to link Benin Republic with Kebbi State.

“President Yayi also proposed a flight-links between Cotonou Airport and Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi. He suggested the development of hydropower electricity plants on either side that can serve the two communities using the water resources on their common border,” the statement read.

The President also believed that the relations with Nigeria , considering the strategic position of Nigerian businessmen, especially Kano traders in international business would serve as Benin Republic window to the world.

While conducting the governor and his delegation round the sea-port of Cotonou, Yayi also stated that, Benin Republic will assist Nigeria most especialy Kebbi State in its strive for economic excellence. He encouraged the setting up of two bilateral committees between Kebbi State and Benin to immediately work on some of these proposals.
