The head of Catholic churches worldwide, Pope Francis was walking towards the alter in Poland, when he took a huge tumble and fell on the ground.

A group of other priests raced to help the Pope back to his feet just before the service began. Pope Francis was arriving to celebrate a mass at the Southern Black Madonna shrine of Częstochowa to mark the 1,050th anniversary of the Baptism of Poland.

Despite the fall, the 79-year-old Pontiff got back to his feet and continued taking mass in front of thousands of people at the venue and millions more watching on live streams around the world.

A man was reported to have apologized to his girlfriend in grand style by buying her a G-Wagon with a note that said “I’m Sorry, I love you”



It turns out though that this was not the case and it was actually the other way round.

According to the Instagram account of “aaaawwwhh”, a company that delivers surprises and presents, it was actually a woman that got it for her man with the note.



They stopped short of revealing the identity of the woman as that would be deemed unprofessional, but it was revealed that the woman is loaded.

In Nigeria today, there is a new definition of hip-hop with the efforts of young, talented music artistes. And of course, it takes a lot of hard work to stay relevant in the music industry. Among the numbers of these artistes, here is a list of the 'special ones' as far as rap is concerned.

1. Olamide: Olamide Adedeji, known by his stage name Olamide but popularly called Olamide Baddo, is one of the awesome rappers in Nigerian music industry. He is one of the most hard-working Nigerian Musicians with 5 successful albums in 5 years. He broke into the Nigerian music industry with his hit track ‘Eni duro’. With his local fast-paced rap style, Olamide is known for his versatility in making music. He is able to easily blend different tunes and beats. He is a king at making ‘razz’ cool. His 'street-lifestyle' makes people identify with him, making his name a household name.


2. Skales: Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, who performs under the mononym Skales.He is both a performer and a lyricist. Skales signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment after meeting Banky W. in 2009. In May 2014, Skales established his own record label, OHK music. The label is home to producer Drey Beatz, and has affiliations with other music personnel within Nigeria. He has recorded more than 200 songs.

3. Lynxxx: Chukie Edozien, better known by his stage name Lynxxx, is a recording artist and entrepreneur. His debut album was released in 2009 with the release of his first official single, "Change your Parade". In December 2010 Lynxxx released his debut album This Is Lynxxx. Besides, Lynxxx was first Nigerian to be endorsed by Pepsi brand. It’s possible to say, his music's a combination of various genres, such as hip hop, R&B, and funky house. Before to become a musician, he’s managed to build several successful businesses (among which there are media companies and a recording studio).

4. Naeto C: Naetochukwu Chikwe, is not only one of the best African rappers, he’s a producer and Afrobeat artist as well. He’s gained much experience. He was the producer of several artists, who then received awards for their albums. He has about 50 of his own compositions recorded.

5. Eva Alordiah: Eva Alordiah, better known as 'Eva' is one of the best female rappers in Nigeria. Eva is also an entertainer, entrepreneur, make-up artist, and fashion designer. She has received numerous awards, among which there are Nigeria Entertainment, Eloy, and YEM awards. She released her debut mixtape in November 2011. As for the first album, it appeared in January 2015.

6. Reminisce: Remilekun Abdulkalid Safaru is rapper and a songwriter. A native of Ogun state, he blends his rap with his native language, yoruba. His first album was released in March 2012 (although the recording started in 2010). The following year there came his second one. He is one of Nigeria's outstanding rappers.

7. Mode 9: Babatunde Olusegun Adewale, popularly known by his stage name Mode 9.He is a seven time winner of The Headies Lyricist on the Roll, making him the most decorated artist by the magazine. In the year 2006, he clinched on to three HipHop World Awards and three Channel O Music Video Awards. The majority of rappers knows and respects his lyrics. That’s why he is often called a legendary lyricist. Moreover, he is thought to be a builder of Nigerian modern music industry .

8. Phyno: In 2003, Azubuike Chibuzo Nelson, better known by his stage name Phyno started as a record producer, but by 2013 he gained much fame. What is peculiar about his is that he performs in the language of Igbo. In 2014, he released debut album. He has his inspiration from the indigenous yoruba rapper, Olamide. Phyno’s most prominent achievement is the influence in Igbo rapping. It helped people of that tribe to start doing their own things.

9. M.I.: Jude Abaga, known professionally as M.I or M.I Abaga is one of the best-known artists in Africa. He’s won numerous awards including MTV Africa Music Award in 2009, and internationally recongnized. In 2012, he was appointed United Nations Goodwill Ambassador. Besides, he’s a vanguard of Afrobeat movement. He has been featured by a host of nigerian singers and rappers.

10. Ice Prince: Panshak Zamani, better known by his stage name Ice Prince, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist and actor. He rose to fame after releasing "Oleku", one of Nigeria's most remixed songs of all time. His debut was in 2011, when the first album was released. Nowadays he is an ambassador to many reputable brands. He’s collaborated with several international artists, which has made him famous worldwide. In 2015, he launched his own record label, but he didn’t give up rapping. What is also important for Nigeria, he has raised Afro-Pop to another level.

11. Illbliss: Tobechukwu Melvin Ejiofor, popularly known by his stage name IllBliss is considered to be a viper in the music industry. He won sound City Music and Video Awards in 2008 and 2009, and also the NMWA Best Hip Hop Video in 2012.

12. Falz – Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz is one of the top notch rappers in Nigeria. He began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called "The School Boys" with his friend before his professional career as a music artiste began in 2009. Falz also blends his music arttistry life with Comedy. On January 2, 2014, Falz was listed in tooXclusive's "Aristes To Watch in 2014". On 30 May 2014, Falz released his debut studio album titled Wazup Guy which was received to critical acclaim among music critics. In 2016, Falz won "Best Actor in a Comedy Movie/Series" at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for his role as Segun in Funke Akindele’s TV series Jenifa's Diary. In June of 2016, Falz was voted the winner of the "Viewer's Choice Best New International Act" category at the 2016 BET Awards.

13. Yung6ix: Onome Onokohwomo, better known by his stage name Yung6ix prides himself as the king of the South. He hails from warri, and came into the music scene in 2010 when he remixed Oleku. Yung6ix has an album and several singles including 'Blessing' where he featured Ortitsefemi. In 2013, he won the National Act of the Year at Abuja Music and Meritorious Awards.

14. Vector: Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, better known by his stage name Vector tha Viper. Vector has released two studio albums, his debut album State of Surprise (SOS) and The Second Coming. He is the voice behind the Sprite commercial that has aired on most radio stations across Nigeria since 2009. He has won several awards and nominated for several acts. Some of his awards include: The Headies 2015 - Lyricist On The Roll; Nigerian Music Video Awards (NMVA) 2012 – Best Afro Hip-Hop Video; The Headies 2012 – Lyricist On The Roll; The Headies 2012 – Best Rap Single; Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA) 2012 – Best Rap Act among others.

15. Jesse Jagz: Jesse Garba Abaga, popularly known as Jesse Jagz, is one of Nigeria's rap best. In April 2015, he re-signed with Chocolate City after leaving the label in May 2012 to establish his own imprint known as Jagz Nation. He has won Best Producer of the Year – Splurge Magazine Best Rap Single 2008; Producer of the Year – The Future Awards 2010; Lyricist on the roll - Hip Hop World Awards (Headies), 2014.

The representatives of Texas A & M University in America, under the leadership of Mr Ben Furret paid a visit to the Governor of Kano state, Umar Ganduje . The visit was to discuss the establishment of an impermeable (fluid resistant) lab coats factory in Kano State ( the first in Africa).

According to the statement, the Director-General of the council, Mrs Dupe Atoki, named the wife of the president consumer ambassador while inaugurating sensitisation campaign for women groups in Abuja.

Atoki said the Council’s initiative to ensure Nigerian women know their rights could find no better personality to identify with its cause than Aisha Buhari.

She said Mrs Buhari’s commitment to the plight of the Internally Displaced Persons, who were predominantly women and children, was exemplary.

Atoki said such commitment would safeguard Nigerian women from malpractices of unscrupulous businesses.

She commended Buhari for agreeing to be Nigerian Consumer Ambassador and expressed the belief that the president’s wife would assist in taking consumer protection to another level.

Atoki also said that council was partnering the National Council for Women Societies to deepen consumer awareness at the grassroots to check consumers’ abuse at the level.

“The CPC at the weekend inaugurated its nationwide grassroots consumer awareness programme with the country’s womenfolk as part of the council’s strategies at stemming consumer abuses in Nigeria,’’ she said.

According to her, women constitute the largest consumer block in the economy by virtue of their ability and God-given role of making purchase decisions.

She said women played an important role in catering for the needs of their family but suffered the most abuse as consumers.

Atoki added that the council identified NCWS because it represented the entire strata of Nigerian women, particularly at the grassroots.

Following reliable information about movement of remnants of suspected Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 118 Task Force Battalion, 7 Brigade, laid an ambush for the terrorists today morning.

The troops laid the ambush about 3 kilometres away from Goneri town, South West of Kukawa Local Government Area, where they encountered the unsuspecting terrorists in 2 gun trucks and on motorcycles and engaged them.

An unconfirmed number of the terrorists escaped with gun shot wounds abandoning 1 Buffalo Land Cruiser gun truck mounted with an Anti-Aircraft gun, 1,600 rounds of 12.7mm Armour Piercing Incendiary (API) ammunitions, 563 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition for General Purpose Machine Guns and 57 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

The troops further recovered 1 motorcycle, 7 jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO), a pair of Nigerien Army uniform, 2 Cameroonian telecommunication service providers SIM cards, as well as a pair of the Boko Haram terrorists Special Forces uniform.

They also recovered 1 Samsung Galaxy Tablet and assorted drugs and such as Climax Oxytocin, Tetracyclic HC1 Ointment, Drips and Springe, amongst others.

Consolidating on this success, the troops are further exploiting the situation while troops of 157 Task Force Battalion are blocking likely escape routes of remnants of the terrorists in Mile 90, Yoyo, Barwati and Kekeno villages.

The attention of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to media reports of a laughable impeachment plot by some Senators on President Muhammadu Buhari during Tuesday’s July 12, 2016 closed session of the Senate.

This is a huge joke taken too far.

The Party advises the Senators in question to stop this huge joke and concentrate on their primary constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking and discharging of their legislative mandates to their constituents at the National Assembly. The Party reiterates that the Senators in question do not to allow political shenanigans becloud overall national interest.The Party will not to join issues on the Senate forgery suit and other court cases concerning some members of the 8th Senate because it will be sub judice. We advice the Senators in question to tow the same line and allow judicial processes run it normal and legitimate course.Repeated allegations that the court cases are politically-motivated by the President and the APC are baseless. The President Muhammadu Buhari administration strictly respects the principle of the Rule of Law and also adheres to the constitutional provisions of Separation of Power between the three arms of government.

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has again appealed to striking workers in the state to suspend the one-month-old industrial action, calling on their leaders to meet with government representatives to share the available fund in the state’s coffers.

The governor, who invoked the spirit of peace and dialogue, made the appeal in an interview with journalists shortly after observing prayers at the Eid ground on the occasion of the Eid El-Fitr, in Ibadan, on Wednesday.

The governor stressed the need for labour to show understanding by coming to a roundtable to discuss the way forward on how the outstanding salaries of workers could be paid as well as the new education initiative of the state government.

Ajimobi said “"I am using this opportunity to call on labour and all stakeholders in the state, including teachers, workers, students, traders even the thugs and brigands to come together and join hands with me to improve Oyo State.

“Let us live peacefully among ourselves. We don’t want anything else, but peace. Where there is peace, there will be progress. Democracy is about dialogue, not about fighting.

“We must come to the roundtable. So I am appealing to labour to imbibe peace and dialogue. We will pay outstanding salaries when we have the fund. But let them come so that we can sit together to discuss how to allocate the little money that we have now."

The governor admonished Muslim faithful across the country to imbibe the lesson of the Holy month of Ramadan in their daily affairs, urging them to guard against returning to some of the sinful acts they dropped during the fasting.

Ajimobi said, "We should not live differently from the way we lived during Ramadan. We must obey the tenets of Islam and its principles: to be nice to others, to be accommodating, have the fear of God, tell the truths at all times and avoid evil machinations and thuggery."

In his message, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abubaker Agbotomokekere, similarly called on all Muslims not to go back to their sins which they left during the month of Ramadan.

Harping on Islam as a religion of peace, the cleric urged Muslim adherents to live peacefully with brethren from other faiths and avoid utterances and actions capable of stoking the ember of religious crisis in any part of the state.

Agbotomokekere prayed for the sustenance of peace, progress and development of the state.
