i don't support the lavish spending the govt is doing, But i have manage to come to terms with the reality that the politicians can never change there ways, if we shout from now till tomorrow it won't deter them

Nigerians dwell and waste tew much time on things they can't stop or change instead of exerting all that energy on things that concerns us directly.

The politicians have taken what they want to take, Lets focus on the broad part of the budget and hold them accountable to it.

Imagine that we gave the same excuse for the presidential yacht, as 5billion is just a small percentage of the budget, what do you think would have happened to the 5billion? If you don’t shout they will get away with everything.

The beauty of democracy is making your leaders accountable not condoning profligacy with an excuse that the money being wasted is a small percentage of the total budget.

If not that you and Peter Obi are just being mischievous why not juxtapose with full analysis of the supplementary budget, obi should give us a full break down if the 2trillion

Lets face reality, every president we had does these reckless spending, even the Buhari we thot was immaterial to us for a ride

Everytime Nigerians love to React & Nagg and our politicians have so much adapted, it won't stop them anyways, instead of wasting our time over 13.5bn why can't we shift focus on the balance which is over 90% and pressurize the govt to use it judiciously.

Nigerians are so predictable, we are so fixated with small pictures that we always miss the big picture ... these politicians easily predict us and that is why they take us for a ride

Why waste your time pressuring the government to account for 90% when 10% of the budget has been overlooked & termed as normal recklessness? Don’t you think 100% accountability is the best for any business/nation?

The people should continue to hammer on the points stated above,.the misuse of national resources and I am so glad it has become a topic of political discourse.

If other political leaders do not speak up and vocally about these matters the waste and profligacy will only get worse.

Remember how the past regime started with a public show Lipton tea and satchet milk for breakfast only to end up giving out multi million dollar foreign exchange round tripping contracts to family and friends that devastated the CBN.

That is what you get with passivity and acquiesce. The issues only get worse. This government ia not even hiding it's profligacy at dawn. So you can imagine what the situation will be when the rats have become accostomed to the kitchen.

Holding government to honesty and to account is a full time job everywhere democracy actually works for the good of the nation that practices it objectively.

Unfortunately some Nigerians think whoever speaks up against such wasteful practice(s) is an enemy of state or a failed politician who has refused to accept defeat. They forget that the profligacy they are supporting today will affect us as a nation in no distant time. The same ACN, ANPP, CPC etc that later became the APC were criticizing the PDP of being wasteful when they were in power. Now they expect opposition parties to applaud them.

Of all the billions budgeted for roads, security, etc how motor-able are most of these roads? How secure are we in this country? Agreed, embezzlement has been going on since but spending 13.5bn recklessly & telling people to tighten their belts in the face of this hardship is the height of insensitivity. Don’t defend it. There is money in this country. If spent judiciously living in this country would have been easier that it is now.

and there are lots of unemployed youths and graduates in the country. What is the plan that the government even have for the youths in this country? They will be budgeting billions of naira on just cars and others unnecessary things, where there are lots of jobless youths all around with no plans for them. At least they should do something for the unemployed gradutes, it can't curb all but it will reduce the population or rate of unemployed gradutes in the country, only few will be left. What are we even benefiting for being a Nigerian?

Their only plan is to make you tighten your belt & be ready to make sacrifices while they live large. The 50 million youths that were promised recruitment into the army are still waiting for their offer letters. Nigerian politicians are of the same mold. I don’t know why our leaders are like this.

Okay but in politics it’s not enough to gather them. Give them offers they can’t refuse. Appointments for them or their nominees if they support you to win, etc. Most of them are just looking for attention with they few people that they have as supporters. It’s their negotiating power. They know they can garner more than a few thousand votes so pleading(emphasis on this) with them to join hands and defeat a common enemy is the way to go

Instead of PDP to join forces with major candidates so they can be sure of victory over Bello & his anointed candidate, they want to make the same mistake they made at the presidential elections. Continue. It’s just that victory isn’t so sure however, it might still happen.
