Travel / Re: A Nairalander First Time On Plane And First Time In Delta by michaelou(m): 9:48am On Apr 16
DenreleDave:
Scenario 1: plane ✈ going up... First I felt weak but I later align. I saw men like ants, I saw mansions like ant colony, I saw the 3rd mainland bridge and the oceans.
I went into the clouds 🌥, I stayed amongst the cloud 🌥, I went above the cloud 🌥. I saw the 5th heavens 😂😂😂. The plane looked slow in my sight but I'm sure it is not what I see it to be. It was as if something were blocking my ears, I had to dip my fingers in my ears.

Scenario 2: They gave us dwarf plastic water and snacks (though I was expecting vegetables and swallow 😂) . As the moment of typing this 8.20am, I am above the clouds.. The cloud 🌥 feel so lonely 😂😂😂. I finished my snacks in 2 minutes (me wey be ebinna 😂).

So it got to point I could not see anything again and the plane was shaking (Lord, hope this is not your call to home 😩). People were just sleeping and snoring, but as for me, Lagos boy, my eyes were wide open 👀👀 (I can't be caught unaware)

Scenario 3: We are preparing for landing 8.36am. E be like say something dey block my ears again 🙄🙄 and it's kinda heavy blocking. We are about landing 8.44am, cabin crew are instructed to sit and prepare for landing. I can see farmlands and scanty houses. Aeroplane wheels touched the ground 8 46 am. We got down from plane at 8.53am

Scenario 4: while I was in the sky, I remembered that iran has been firing bombs. I was praying they don't mistakenly fire one into Nigerian airspace while I am in the sky grin grin grin. I was just watching out from the window

Finally, that was how my flight trip to asaba went. This is my first time in delta state.

My nairaland fans in delta, Oya come and do meet and greet óòo 😂😂😂😂

chewing gum will help you with the ear issue

Op, I don't want u re trying to say. Wether u re saying blackgold is a nice camp or otherwise cos ur write up is contradictory. But I've to correct u on some comments u made. You said u use to fetch water from d main gate which is 110km to d hostel. My friend the location of that camp to the main kaduna city is just 16km. So I don't know how u did ur own calculation. In terms of water supply, it's not as bad as u claimed it to be cos there are taps running in that camp. Except u re 1 of d lazy dudes that's not patient enough to wait on the queue to get to ur turn. You talked abt excess heat, I will say that's true. During my years of serving in that city, I didn't experience any heat. But if u say there's excess cold, den I will agree wit u. In summary, kaduna camp is one of the best camps in Nigeria. That was why foreign students used that camp as their base when abuja camp was still under renovation. It was really a nice experience serving in Kaduna. If not their crises, I really love that city.
noted. u suppose to know the distance thing is an exaggeration. contradictory how? a For your information mr, I don't jump queues and don't u ever use the word "lazy" to describe me or anyone if u don't know them.
NYSC / Gold And Mangoes: A short description of Blackgold Camp Kaduna State. Michaelou by michaelou(m): 8:44am On Aug 26, 2016
My service started when I got to nysc camp in kaduna state. Blackgold as the camp was fondly called is the house of a thousand mango trees with succulent bright yellow colours. One wonders why it's call "Blackgold camp" instead of "yellow mangoes camp". The very first thing I noticed when I got to camp was the statue of a corper outside the gate right in front of the security post in between the entrance and exit gate in a saluting position. History has it that he(the statue) is the truest, longest and long-suffering  serving corper that doesn't receive allowee.
Blackgold camp is about 1000sqm/ft housing various corpers hostel, the soldiers hostel, the multipurpose hall, the kitchen, the mosque, the churches, the clinic, the civilians hostel, the infamous maami market and the parade ground occupying about 15% of the land space.
The second thing that comes to mind in Blackgold was the water. Water is really scarce. I don't know if it's because of the fact that the camp is in the middle of an express or its just a north thing(no offense to the northerner). I heard there is scarcity of water in the North because of the heat, the heat! Omg! I'm still coming to that. The heat probably dried up the surface water I can't tell, the geologists are more than able to do justice to that cause. Another thing is that even the little water is dirty and some yellowish stuff is always on the surface making it look like Mr ibu and mr osuofia "16 puke combined in equal volume and pressure. The heat. I actually don't know the right adjective to describe this phenomenon. You can actually feel the death ray boiling your blood and damaging the integrity of the melanocytes, spilling their content and eventually resulting into the formation of dark spots on the skin. Prolong exposure to this environmental factor can also lead to mutation in the dna.
Unity hall is/was the hall because it's opposite maami market and a stone throw from the parade ground making resources easily accessibly and the distance to the parade ground shorter respectively. Just has everything has its pros and cons so does unity hall. It's was too tight. If I had know I would left for camp on Sunday (camp officially opened the following wednesday) I got there on Tuesday and everyone in the bus that transported I and the remaining prospective corp members to kaduna were in the same room aside the girls. Unity hall looks like the letter "U" and in between is a large circular  brick work and two tanks right in front of the circle. When I was in camp the pumping machine that's was suppose to supply this tanks got damaged and we had to fetch water from the main gate which was about 110km from the hostel. Despite all these travails, we all survived (21 days). And I most say, it was one of the most exciting moment of my life.
This is for the incoming corp members and others.
Ps: errors, pls correct if any.
