that is not true. he is not 'resting' he is out, he doesn't train either so he will not be fit. Have you ever used crutches for 4-6 weeks straight? When you come back you will hardly know how to walk never mind playing football to your normal level. We all should start getting accustomed to the possibility of Ndidi not being fit for the first game. For an injury you have the minimum and maximum duration, the minimum as we know is four weeks but for someone who has not been injured all season long his body system may not be able to adjust to the injury within that minimum usually the maximum tends to be the eventual duration. For emphasis when you break your hand the first time the pain will be unbearable and it will take a longer time to heal but if it happens a second time it would be way easier

You cannot achieve that by picking one or two players saying they are special talents and sending special trainers to them. You can only achieve that kind of system by ensuring all your young talents are actively involved in your youth programs. From U17, U20 to U21/23.

I still insist we need a standing U21 team. That is where we can pick from a large pool of players who are to be promoted to the senior team.

first off, Lahm was never a stop gap option at LB, when he went on loan to Stuttgart he was converted to a LB and he became the best LB in the German league easily. played many many games as a LB for Germany as a LB too, and since Sagnol wasn't exactly terrible he was left there. Alves has never played as a true midfielder and the only time he did, I think against Hercules some years ago he failed, when he played as a WF too he failed woefully, versatility isn't his thing at all.

Then for the German team I am sure he has made the semifinal of every major tournament he has played in since making his debut. I am not sure this argument has anything to do with his assists for Messi. At Barca he plays almost as a wingback and Busquets covers perfectly for him. At Bayern though Lahm hasn't had it well enough, they also recruit attack minded LBs like Alaba for example forcing Lahm to always drop into a back three to allow the LB attack and even in Germany he does the same, I am not sure you expect him to be giving assists from there like that.
