10s of thousands of arsenal fans disagree with this your analysis. Funny enough, most of them that insulted and vilified Iwobi were the very ones saying that he would have made a difference cos of his dribbles which Welbeck the heck, couldn't offer. Pls we know that most of the players on the pitch were very tired. only a foolish coach would leave a tired Ronaldo or Messi on the pitch in the name of that they would still make a big chance at winning. Not to talk less of Arsenal players that if Ancellotti were coach, they would see the backdoor out.

Don't tell me here and now that you believe that Iwobi's game is solely for possession cos I won't agree atall with you.
this shows how much you know about coaching. haven't you heard that some players are made for the big moments? if you are losing you dare not sub out your best player na or your main goal scorer rather you complement them, no sane coach would take out Messi or Ronaldo when his team is trailing, heck in 2012 or so against PSG, an injured Messi was subbed in when Barca were losing, guess what? with only one good leg he played a shot which the GK parried and that led to the equaliser and Barca scaled through

Beat your chest and tell me that Welbeck was the better choice for that wing throughout that game. Iwobi have done more than 3players Vs Argentina. he passed thru 5players at once and didn't go down. Against Chelsea too, he passed thru 4players, Cahill and Kante inclusive. So it's now 3rough defenders he won't pass thru or at least get a PK out of themhuh

It's no hype, but we both know who the better dribbler of the ball is in such tight spaces.

Welbeck failed to do his job at that wing and so Monreal had to fill in such role... Stop making Welbeck look like he's one good player. He's average to me. 2goals against Cska is not going to change my view about him anyday.
Iwobi hasn't even scored two goals against Crystal palace and you want to start him over someone who is in form?

do you want me to start giving you instances of when Welbeck beat more than one player? this shows that you didn't watch the Arsenal CSKA game because he did.

Which match against Chelsea did he pass 4 players and what was the outcome?

True but he was deployed wrongly.

ATM was under siege for the better part of the game, move welbeck to the center of the attack with laccasete to play of him, with ur full backs whipping crosses.

That was a good defensive play by ATM.
chances were created so its not as if the game plan wasn't working. Welbeck was out in the flanks and chances were still created, what is the guarantee that if he moves into the middle that the same would remain the case? you don't change your team when they are on top.
like you aptly pointed out, Atletico played their game, and having one of the best GKs in the world helps too

Pls help tell Icon4s.... Wilshere had an average game to me. Ozil still had a better game, even Xhaka had a better game.

Any Midfielder that is experienced and tactically skilled, would know that after that red card, the loophole must be exploited. But unfortunately, Welbeck was on the flank that Arsenal should've exploited. ATM were that scared that every time a pass went to Welbeck, three guys ran straight up to him to close him down. One on such a flank would need speed and dribbles to frustrate such defenders and force their hands to get a PK. Imagine Monreal had to now start playing that role, and oga Welbeck is a poor cover up player too. Iwobi is better.

Diego would be so happy that he didn't even use Costa for Arsenal and yet, they fell like a pack of cards. smh
seems you hardly watch Atleti games, that's how they cover all the time, they weren't scared at all just their normal game.

out of curiosity though are you saying that Iwobi would have been able to dribble all three players at once? I am sure Welbeck is kinda fast too, he showed that against Chelsea in last season's FA cup final and Iwobi is definetly not the fastest guy around either

This Rohr self... Against Algeria last year,he could have played Ebuehi instead of Shehu so we could officially cap him...
Against Serbia,he could have allowed Ebuehi rest and play Aina at RB. it would have given us the opportunity to see how Aina will fare at RB....
I believe this is what people complained about. if I remember correctly the starting line up was released hours before the game and even before the match people started saying that Ebuehi was injured and might not yet be 100% but then the point is if he wasn't 100% then why would the coach play him? what if he said he was ready to play in that case I am not sure that injury should be used as an excuse for him. is he didn't say he was ready to play and yet the coach played him and probably the injury got worse then Rohr is to be blamed if the boy isn't fit enough to go to the world cup.

Impact players. Iwobi may not be a game changer cos he still has a lot to learn, but beat your chest and tell me point blank that he wouldn't have done better on the wing than Welbeck that kept passing back when he had space to dribble thru and do something. The three times he tried to dribble, he was dispossessed and one of such even led to the goal that Griezmann buried. Haba.

Iwobi would dribble that defender and at least due to pressure, can get hacked down in the PK box cos of the rough way those ATM defenders were doing. Pls.

Sometimes, it's not just about the best 11.

We have coaches and managers bringing on players that have just one contribution to a game even if they are bench warmers. we've seen that alot in the UCL.

Iwobi, would have made a breakthrough on that flank than a wasteful, less confident Welbeck any day.
can't you just say that the Atletico fullback was a stalwart on the day? I mean this is a team with one of the best defences in the world, Arsenal created chances, plenty if chances which shows that the team was doing okay, all they needed was a goalscorer, is it Iwobi that would have scored the goals? Welbeck remains a bigger goal threat than Iwobi any day

I know Iheanacho played some freekicks at the U17 and never converted any but Musa Mohammed converted his own, does that make Musa a better freekick specialist? set piece takers are set in Stine, just because Pique pops up one day and scores a wonderful freekick does not mean he will be taking the free kicks the next game.

a fresh consultant actually earns 801k and as a consultant your duty hours are grossly reduced so you can combine like 4 different hospitals at a time, and the other hospitals usually employ a pay-as-you-work salary scheme and you will probably end up gathering close to 400k in a month, that's already 1.2 with sic zeros behind for a consultant who is just a beginner, if you somehow become the chief consultant.... or let's say you make it to the CMD level alone Good Lord.

by the way, new consultants hardly lecture in medical schools, they might be mandated to tutor interns which I am not sure adds a single kobo to them.

Your first line shows you do not even understand the point. I did not and never said Nacho is a dribbler. Nacho does not utilize dribbling to cause damage. I am pointing out that the notion he can not dribble is false.

The statement Iheanacho can not dribble is wrong. The statement that Iheanacho has limited dribbling ability is wrong. He has the ability and can pull them off. He does not rely on them.
Every footballer can dribble. Pique has pulled off some insane dribbles once or twice it isn't special. Iheanacho's dribbling ability is very limited, how is that an argument

That just doesn't resonate with me.

Age is not the qualification for leadership and in the context of football that's even more pronounced.

Yobo was not the oldest when he was made captain. This issue become more absurd because of the issue of football age. For instance Yakubu was considerably younger than Yobo officially.
when did Yobo make his debut and when did Yakubu? You are not understanding me, age here means number of years spent with the team which is clearly related to experience and you know leadership gets better when experience is there

Not the case everywhere, it has more to do with that colleague other respects and believe can lead. I'm talking NT here and not club. Okay, who's the oldest player in the Spanish, German, Brazilian and Portuguese NT?

FYI, Dani Alves is the oldest player for Brazil, yet he's not the captain.

Hazzard is that of Belgium even though Kompany and other older players are there. The list goes on...
you see? you don't know how the thing works. oldest isn't by age but based on the number of years spent in the team. When did Dani Alves start playing for Brazil? I think even Neymar started playing for Brazil before him, he isn't even close.

Belgium's own was because of Kompany's constant injury worries, you can't always have an injured captain and the coach explained that back then.

You are countering your own motion, if Pirlo was fantastic even without been the captains then why not Enyeama, some decision can totally alter the feeling in the squad.

with this argument already is best Rohr invite Aiyenugba and Ejide instead of Enyeama, they are both playing for there respective club and won't even ask or expect the captains band.

We all know Enyeama to be very volatile and outspoken, I wont like this young guys to feel strartle because of his strong personality
And would Ejide or Aiyenugba between the stick truly inspire much confidence? Their last two games for the NT makes one think otherwise.

I am not sure you understood the point behind that reference. Buffon has been the captain for Italy, there was a time he retired and Pirlo was poised to take the armband but hey he came back and Pirlo respectfully gave it back, that's what I mean here. Enyeama was already the captain before the sad event happened and Mikel(just like Pirlo was going to)benefitted from the natural captain's forced retirement, it wouldn't be unwise to point out that Mikel can wait a little longer or even if he never becomes the captain again(assuming Enyeama comes back and stays for 6 more years) then it still isn't bad for his career

Gent Signs Replacement For Newcastle United Target Moses Simon

Belgium top division side Gent have already concluded plans to make up for the almost certain departure of their Nigerian forward Moses Simon in the summer.

Simon is a target of several English Premier League clubs with Newcastle United largely believed to be the front runners for his signature despite interest from fellow Premier League sides Brighton and Burnley.

Gent are resigned to losing the Nigerian forward in the summer, where he is expected to feature for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia, but interested teams are likely to conclude any potential transfer for him before the World Cup for fear of his price going up after the World Cup.
Already Gent have cleared the way for his summer exit by signing a forward from fellow Belgium side Royal Antwerp according to a source close to the former AS Trencin teen wonder.

” Simon is sure to leave Gent this summer. A replacement has been signed by Gent already. A forward from Antwerp will join them in the summer, if my memory serves me right . I think he is of Congolese descent”, he concluded

Doesn't work that way when it comes to the NT. The coach and your colleagues determine who's going to lead them. Nothing like contract here.
it is not voted for, in the national team, 9 times out of 10, the olderst is made the captain, that is normally the case everywhere. And when you have a player coming back to a team, he can say that if he is made the captain then he can come back, that is not factually a contract but since it is a term that he has put down before he can start working, it is called a contract and Zidane did similar

Let's wait for the call up first before talking about captainship or not.

Or what do you think?

You first agree to the terms of a contract before you can start working. The captaincy is something that has to be defined before a call up letter is issued

Naming a captain depends on coach not a player. If Rohr says it's Enyeama fine and if he says remain Mikel no issue but one thing is certain the coming back of Enyeama has nothing to do with captain band.

Keshi came back in 1987 under coach Paul Hamilton and captain by Andrew Uwe.The same Keshi was named captain by Onigbinde at afcon 84 despite the presence of Muda Lawal and Henry Nwosu.

Mikel rejection of vice to Musa during Oliseh as a coach was to just to show loyalty to Enyeama and to douse already heated tension and Siasia naming Mikel was his decision not about seniority.

When Rohr came he said Mikel remain the captain and if he feel otherwise nobody will challenge him but i don't think Rohr will name Enyeama captain when Mikel is available.
Sia1 named Mikel because Musa stepped down and Mikel was the oldest. Thank God you know why Mikel rejected that vice position, not just because of Enyeama's loyalty alone but also because he felt as the oldest he should be getting the armband, same reason was sited for Emenike's retirement.

On a side note though, players contracts are usually not straight, some contracts have terms like 'I must play up to 70% of the available minutes' etc etc. If adding the captain's armband will entice Enyeama then it shouldn't even be an argument, by all means. Besides Pirlo never got to be the captain of Italy, does not make him any less than he is

I don't want to get involved but I remember running into something similar with with the andrew guy. I remember I insulted him first and every moniker was on my tail the very next second and of course I duly apologised(heck I was even planning to apologise even if nobody cautioned me). Then in this case he was insulted first and nobody, I mean nobody(except Mujtahida, problem is that he is too good sometimes that most people think he is just feigning righteousness), that I believe was also a huge factor in this issue. When I had a go at him and people came for my head(I can remember bascon and theGoodJoe specifically) he never replied with an insult, I have forgotten what he told me but it was about him expecting a cordial relationship with me going forward, but in this case nobody cautioned his opposite and he let fly from range which, knowing fully well who he is, was meant to fall in a region well below the belt.

I do not care what people say but if we start a tradition we should maintain it, if the person who insulted him was duly cautioned as I was then I am not sure it would have gotten thus far. Thank you

But on the contrary, I don't know why this other side of the issue should even be an argument. Zidane came back and he was given the armband and nothing happened, except the fact that they got to the final and lost on penalties. I am sure Mikel was the one who rejected the idea of becoming an assistant to Musa because he understands a thing or two about seniority so why shouldn't he be humble enough to step down?

My friend calm down, you dont need such hate speech and insult, now to the festival our "Ofala" was influenced by the IGUA festival, you can investigate on that in your spare time.

for the kingship system, the western Igbo practice very similar one with the benin people, where royal family are recognised, I'm sure you've had about the saying "igbo ewe eze" it means igbo dont have kings but it only apply To the heartland igbo area which include the imo, abia and some part of ebonyi.

You tried translating the names I listed which even made you look more confused OLISAdebe you said means God preserve but you forgot to tell us that OLISA is a benin word for God, we all know what igbo call God, and in imo or abia that name should be CHIdebe or CHUKWUdebe.

Bros onitsha was not the only region greatly influence by the great benin empire, present day rivers, delta, bayelsa, ondo, ekiti and even lagos was influence too.

So lets stop derailing this thread, but if you really wanna talk more about it, we could continue probably via WhatsApp
Not trying to drag this matter but 'Igbo enwe Eze' means another entirely different thing. Of course every Igbo town has it's own King, be it the Onitsha region or Abia region. The term simply implies that we do not have a general Igbo king, if you go to Aro to talk about Obi of Onitsha, who cares? Unlike in the North where Emirs and Sultans are widely revered and even the Yorubas' have theirs

Firstly, you have no right to call anyone myopic, you could not even make a clear point on your argument with a lengthy write up, Umar selection in the Olympic don't prove his the best, every coach can make there choice with alot of factors which are not footballing coming into place.

secondly I never said Umar did bad in the Olympic, the whole team had a good outing with a bronze medal to prove. bringing iheanacho who is way ahead of him is what I don't understand, you said it took a season with goals from the bench before he was regarded as one of the best young stars, abeg they glue Umar ass ads to the bench in Roma? why can't he also go in score just like iheanacho.

Lastly you said Umar is faster than Awoniyi, I will leave that for your conscience to judge you
first of all, if not for Umar we would have defeated Germany in the semifinal as simple as that and the number of chances he missed in the losers final was just baffling. if you are the striker in your team and your team scores five goals in a match without you having a hand in any then you are poor. he had a poor tournament as simple as that.

Umar is faster than Awoniyi. Awoniyi is not fast at all, it was exposed during the U20 when he had to play from the wings and during the Olympics qualifiers when he and Ajayi had to alternate between playing as a winger and a striker and his lack of pace was exposed.

Siasia played Iwobi at the middle.. football is fluid and not rigid, which is why I can usually watch a game and say a certain player would be able to operate in another role.
Iwobi has been seen performing well at the middle during game time than any other position on the field, which was why I asked you the question, have you seen Iwobi make a clever cut, a taken a wonderful cross, or dribbled his way through the flanks while on national duty? answer capital NO. Hence, he is not suited for the wings.. But have u seen him perform creatively from the middle (sprayed passes) and even scored breathtaking goals from that position? YES. That clearly means he is actually more comfortable operating from the middle.
Let me give you another instance here. Ronaldo whilst playing as a 7 usually operates as a 9, some coaches ended up playing him as a 9 but he never performs as a 9, but when he is playing as a 7 he can operate very well through the middle.

There are other examples like this too but I believe you should get my point, he may be best suited as a winger drifting in unmarked, but when you are the AMF, the DMF is always on you and disrupts your flow, that is my point. Besides why try Iwobi there when we have good players we can invite there? Al Hassan has been clocking up minutes in Austria as an AMF, Aluko plays as a psuedo-AMF and probably if we look closer we will see other people. High time we play our players in their positions

The difference. Manu's experience with Iheanacho is in the U17s. Sisia's experience with Iwobi was when he first started out in the Super Eagles. By the way, Iwobi says he is most comfortable playing there.. and we've seen that he is more deadly in SE colors playing from the middle and not the wings. Have u ever seen Iwobi dribble for pull out a beautiful cross from the flanks, or done a tricky cut in for that matter?.. come to think of it.
