There are some people that sold their land to pay for this form because of the promise they were made. I don’t think these politicians were thinking of heaven that is why they are ready to kill anybody that stands on their way,” he said.
Still, the vocal priest raised fears that Atiku may not be able to solve the problems of Nigeria if he emerged victorious, as according to him, the problems of the nation were so enormous and challenging.
“If anybody is thinking that if Atiku becomes the President of Nigeria things will get better, ‘who born you’ because for this country to be good it is easier for a carmel to pass through the eye of a needle than this country to be good,” he said, urging that Nigerians must do their part to make Nigeria the nation of their dream.
He predicted defeat for the ruling party in the elections but said that there was still opportunity for change.
“There are no people that will develop this country that are not in Nigeria. We have people who will develop this nation; but our President left the same type of people who don’t have the same type of vision around him and everything they do is in your head.
After you are removed, they will bring people that will flog you because you messed up the opportunities because you didn’t listen to the word of God. You didn’t listen to the man of God you have and you were disobeying him.
The price of disobedience is disgrace,” he declared. He, however, stated that if Atiku had the opportunity that President Buhari has, he would have revamped Nigeria.
In his response, spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organisation, Segun Sowunmi, said the 2019 general elections will be based on issues and as such, will not join issues with Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka.
According to him, “We have taken the position that we will respect the clergy. We will respect all Nigerians, the leaders of the political class and we will even respect President Muhammadu Buhari and his campaign.
Therefore, we plead with all Nigerians that we focus on the issues before the nation and the issues, and agenda before the Nigerian nation is that we need an Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to become in charge of the country as he will be able to bring his private sector discipline into the running of government business such that he can open up the economy to serve and add value to everybody in Nigeria including the clergy.
And in doing that, part of the great care we must take is that the leaders of thought and religious leaders in the society must be encouraged to concentrate on the issues that help us to unite as a country.
We have no other country to call our own than Nigeria. We call on all of them including Father Mbaka to please work with us and the PDP presidential candidate and ask questions where they need clarifications. Please do not allow us to run the country again into those things that would be difficult for us to manage. If there is no evidence as to what ever he meant by Bureau d’ change, it has nothing to do with us.
If he is insinuating about perhaps the innuendos and insinuations flying up and down, we take objections to that. Atiku Abubakar has been in the public space for a while as a senior civil servant, rising and giving a good account while in the Nigerian Customs Service.
He was vice president of Nigeria during former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration and he tried to contribute as much as he could within the limits and what is available as a vice president. The entire nation is aware of the huge contribution that he has made and since he left as vice president, he has continued to engage in political conversation in such a way that the issues that concern Nigerians have also concerned him.
They include issues like restructuring, sustainable development, getting a nation that all Nigerians can feel united, issues of progress and banishing poverty to the barest minimum and issues of reducing the misery of Nigerians to become the fun-loving people that they were, issues of national unity, religious tolerance among religious leaders including Father Mbaka.
We want to say by the grace of God and the help of Nigerians, we would run a campaign that will be issues-based. We must make sure that we refocus this nation to be less acrimonious and begin to enjoy the benefits of a united country.” http://sunnewsonline.com/2019-mbaka-bangs-buhari-atiku/ |
Politics › Reverend Mbaka Blasts Atiku, Calls Him Bureau De Change by midolian(op): 8:34pm On Oct 20, 2018 |
The Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has described former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as bureau de change because of the mindboggling foreign currencies that reportedly exchanged hands at the recently held National Convention of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), before he emerged the party’s presidential candidate.
Regardless, he warned him not to emulate President Muhammadu Buhari if he is elected the president in 2019. He warned that the ruling APC may lose the next election if President Buhari doesn’t change certain things urgently.
“So let the will of God be done in Nigeria. It is like what I have been saying Buhari change or you will be changed”
Mbaka, who had in his new year eve message of 2015, predicted Buhari’s electoral victory over then President Goodluck Jonathan; said the President had all the human and material resources at his disposal to make the country better but rather chose to play ethnic, despotic politics by surrounding himself with people without vision and not inclined to his line of thought.
He noted that the President has wasted a golden opportunity offered him by God and by implication has disobeyed God.
“What will it take you; change the Chief of Staff, change B, change C, change this and change that; even if it will take 20 Igbo men or 20 Yoruba men to change Nigeria; take all of them. Look at what (Chukwuma) Soludo did in the Central Bank; he has assured Nigeria and the whole world that there is nothing like bank collapse again.
“An Igbo man did this, why can’t Buhari take Soludo for the economic revival and revamping of Nigeria’s economy? And you are busy talking about corruption, playing game with the lives of Nigerians from the issue of Fulani herdsmen to Boko Haram to Jos killings. You said somebody stole, what did he steal?
“Someday, they said the government has spent trillions of naira on social investment scheme and I want to know who are the people they were spending the money on; the Vice President said they are giving N10,000 to small scale businesses and I asked, is this how they will transform Nigeria? You give somebody N10,000 for business, what type of business will N10,000 start?” he queried.
Mbaka advised Nigerian politicians to seek God’s wisdom in their dealings, stressing that they struggled for power at all cost because they lack wisdom.
“Somebody will have billions and want to take the one belonging to the public while hunger will be killing his people. Look at the type of money they shared during the primaries to the extent that they brought Bureau de Change. They said Buhari is change, but Atiku is bureau de change. They were sharing the money in dollars and it was going out in millions of dollars in Nigeria where hunger is killing people; where you don’t have food to eat.
“If they spend such monies to get ticket, how do you think that when they get into power they will rule, of course, they will first recover the money they have spent but the worst is that the money was not being shared to the poor,” he lamented.
Mbaka described the cost of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as outrageous; saying that if the leadership of the party had conscience, they would not have collected N24 million from people to obtain the forms. He added that a party with conscience would have returned the money to the aspirants instead of casting aspersions on them. https://www.sunnewsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Mbaka-bangs-Buhari-Atiku.jpghttp://sunnewsonline.com/2019-mbaka-bangs-buhari-atiku/ |

PDP and lies are like Umbrella and rain....
After all they said against the Buhari Government, who would have expected the Supreme Leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu to surface again? It is like a woman seeing her period after menopause.
Atiku has promised even more than "bringing back" Nnamdi Kanu to the leflendum seekers. I don't have a problem with this, what I have a problem with is how these people believe the PDP is the way forward. After peddling lies about how Buhari's instruments killed Kanu on social media just to score cheap political points, the hunch back surfaces again..
1. Could Nnamdi Kanu be the Jesus we have all been waiting for?
2. Should Atiku still be expecting to Get bloc votes from the Kanu region? please share your views |

Politics › Learn From Fayose’s Downfall, Cleric Tells Fayemi by midolian(op): 3:38pm On Oct 18, 2018 |
An Islamic cleric, Alhaji Raheem Arikewuyo Olowoyo, has advised Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to learn from the downfall of his predecessor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, in exercising power given to him by the electorate.
Olowoyo said those who wield the position of power will leave office one day and should always ponder on life after office.
According to him, people in position of power must learn from the fact that Fayose, who still wielded power of life and death just a week ago, is now cooling his heel in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Olowoyo, who is the Awiye Adinni of Ekiti land, said transience of power should motivate those holding positions of leadership to do well and be accountable to people because of the impending day of reckoning.
The cleric spoke on Thursday at the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held at the Government House, Ado-Ekiti as part of activities to mark the coming to power of the Fayemi administration.
The service was attended by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi; wife of the governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; wife of the deputy governor, Mrs. Margaret Egbeyemi; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Adeniran Alagbada; traditional rulers, religious leaders and senior civil servants.
The Awiye Adinni spoke while leading Muslim prayer for the success of the new Fayemi administration.
Anglican Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Christopher Omotunde, prayed that God will not allow Ahithophels to get into government and mislead the governor.
Olowoyo said: “By this time last week, it was whoever Fayose wanted that will be allowed to enter this Government House and whoever he did not want will not be allowed in.
“But where is Fayose today? Where is Fayose today? Fayose is now a former governor, the governor that is there today will be a former governor tomorrow.
“Three days have gone out of four years and that is how the four years will be reducing gradually. People are talking about good things and bad things Fayose did in power.
“Fayemi is a good man and God has given him a wonderful woman as wife and they don’t underrate people. My prayer is that God will not allow evil people to be part of this government.”
Delivering the Muslim sermon, the state Missioner of Ansar-ud-Deen Society, Alhaji Baba Abdul Salam, described position of power as “trial from God.”
Abdul Salam urged leaders in the country to rule with justice and fair play adding that Fayemi has begun well and must be supported with prayers to succeed.
He said: “This is a good beginning, Fayemi is exposed, he has interacted with Presidents and world leaders and he has come to do well in this second term.”
Delivering the Christian sermon, Ekiti Provincial Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Goke Buti, assured that the state will take its pride of place in Nigeria under Fayemi.
Speaking on the topic: “Possess Your Possession,” Buti said God the Fayemi administration should not see any impossibility but must go forth and do exploits for the people
Buti said: “In this administration, we should not see impossibility, it is time for God to make Ekiti great. We can overcome poverty, unemployment and other problems confronting this state.”
Speaking on behalf of the governor who was attending the Governors’ Forum meeting in Abuja, Egbeyemi assured that the new government will not discriminate in making people feel impact of governance.
Egbeyemi said: “Whether you are a member of APC, PDP or any other party, if your children are in public schools, they will enjoy free education because this government is a friend to everybody.
“We will do more than what we did during the first tenure. I moved round with the governor during the campaign and there are projects to show in all towns and villages.
“We have said we are not probing anybody but we want to look into the books because workers want us to pay them, pensioners want us to pay them and we are going to work out how we will pay them.
“An emaciated child cannot be fed to become robust in one day; we will be doing it gradually. We want our spiritual fathers to keep on praying for us to succeed in this task.” http://thenationonlineng.net/learn-from-fayoses-downfall-cleric-tells-fayemi/https://thenationonlineng.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/fAYEMI-PHOTO-776x470.jpgLalasticlala Mynd44 |

Politics › Osun Election: PDP Kicks, As Tribunal Is Disbanded by midolian(op): 3:16pm On Oct 18, 2018 |
Members of the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday stormed the premises of election petition tribunal sitting in Osogbo, the state capital, to protest the sudden disbandment of the panel.
Armed with placards carrying different inscriptions, Barrister Niyi Owolade, a PDP chieftain, who addressed newsmen on behalf of the people expressed dismay over the development.
Owolade explained that the party filed a petition on Tuesday, in which the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the Governor-elect, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress, APC, were joined as respondents.
He further explained that while the first respondent, INEC had been served, Oyetola and his party have declined service, which compelled them to file an application for substituted service.
The former Osun State Attorney General said they were taken aback on Thursday morning when officials of the tribunal informed them that the tribunal has been disbanded without giving any reason for such action and without evidence of constituting another soon.
” While we have been able to serve the first respondent, the second and the third respondents declined service so, we brought an application here yesterday for substituted service.
“The application was to have been heard 9am this morning but we were surprised when we heard that the panel has been disbanded. What is even more surprising is that they disbanded a panel without replacement.
“We all know that election petition matters are sui jeneris, our 180days started counting from 16th October, and section 285, sub-section 6 of the 1999 constitution is clear about that.
“By the 180 days duration, final judgement on this matter is to be delivered on or before April 15, 2019, and time is of essence.
” We are surprised that the President of the Appeal Court, who is saddled with the responsibility of constituting election tribunal has not deemed it fit to have put in place a new panel, ” he said.
Owolade demanded immediate constitution of the panel in order to continue with the process without delay.
He stressed that there must never be any vacuum in the pattern of constituting election panel, adding that the people are seriously yearning for justice.
“We are presently in limbo because time is of essence, we want a new panel to be put in place immediately to continue the process, we are appealing to the president of Appeal Court to do the needful”. http://dailypost.ng/2018/10/18/osun-election-pdp-kicks-tribunal-disbanded/www.nairaland.com/attachments/3846898_pdpumbrellafightcartoon_jpegf8210c028a922372a45132ee7acd6c2aLalasticlala Mynd44 |

Career › Voice Of America Sacks 15 Hausa Employees In A Nigeria Bribery Scandal by midolian(op): 7:49am On Oct 17, 2018 |
US government-funded broadcaster, Voice of America has terminated or proposed to terminate 15 employees from its Hausa language international radio service in Washington, D.C. following allegations of improper conduct, including the acceptance of improper payments from an official in their coverage area.
The employees were reported in Nigerian newspapers to have accepted improper payments in January of around $5,000 from a Nigerian state governor from the country’s northwest on a visit to VOA’s DC offices. The improper payment was said to have to come to light after a whistleblower reported to management. VOA declined to comment on further details of its ongoing investigation in the affair. It is unconfirmed if all the employees involved were journalists.
In an email to staff on Oct. 4, VOA director Amanda Bennett said the agency’s leadership was notified of the allegations “in recent months” and had launched several investigations, including requesting a review by the Office of the Inspector General.
“While privacy laws prevent us from disclosing any specifics, it is following the completion of these investigations that these terminations and proposed terminations are occurring,” she said.
VOA is a US government-funded international broadcast service. Its Hausa service broadcasts to 20 million people weekly, primarily in Nigeria, but also in Niger, Ghana, Chad and Cameroon.
As US federal employees, the VOA Hausa staffers, if true, would have violated a series of federal laws and regulations, particularly those prohibiting government employees from receiving improper gifts, which may be implicated by the alleged conduct in this matter. These include criminal penalties for bribery of public officials, the prohibition on acceptance of gifts given because of an employee’s official position, and the statutory requirement that all federal employees place loyalty to their legal and ethical responsibilities over private gain.
Accepting payments or “brown envelopes,” as it’s known in Nigerian journalism circles, is a common practice in the country. Journalists, operating in a competitive and crowded media landscape, accept the bribes to supplement paltry or unpaid salaries. Nigerian politicians, particularly around elections, often exploit the situation, paying journalists to buy their allegiance and control narratives.
Radio listenership of international broadcasters such as VOA, BBC Hausa, Radio France Hausa and Deutsche Welle are high in Nigeria’s northern regions, ironically in part because they are often seen to be neutral players who are above manipulation by local politicians or governments.
To safeguard its reputation and integrity, VOA has launched a separate investigation to determine if any coverage was improperly influenced. “If any such influence is discovered, we will deal with it promptly and transparently,” Bennett said.
She added: “If any other instances of improper payments are discovered in any service anywhere in VOA, we are committed to investigating them thoroughly and dealing with them promptly as well.”
The incident leaves the service with only 11 permanent government employees and contractors to produce 16 hours of radio and 30 minutes of television every week. Africa division director Negussie Mengesha said assistance from the agency’s extensive network of part-time contributors in Africa will help them maintain their current programming. One of 15 dismissed includes the chief of the Hausa service; VOA’s former Hausa Service chief, Fred Cooper, will serve as acting chief until a permanent one is selected.
VOA declined requests to speak to Amanda Bennett and Negussie Mengesha. https://qz.com/africa/1426869/voice-of-america-fires-15-hausa-service-staff-after-nigeria-bribe/

Since 2001, or thereabout, the United States has kept some suspected terrorists in detention at Guantanamo Bay without trial. That’s about 17 years now without trial!
Here in Nigeria, so-called rule of law advocates are calling President Buhari a dictator for detaining somebody like Sambo Dasuki for just three years without as much as caring for the thousands of people that have been killed and millions that have been made IDPs because of “Boko Haram”, which, apparently, were deliberately allowed to grow and fester. For, they equally labelled the President a dictator for decisively crushing a group called IPOB with their leader, Nnamdi Kanu running away at the mere sight of a python!
With the exception of a very handful number of objective, patriotic critics who really care about the practical application of the rule of law in Nigeria and the world generally, most of those who raised their voices in hypocritical lamentations and attacks over the President’s stance on the matter are those who (1.) just hate the President for who he is, where he comes from and what he stands for, and (2.) hate him for overturning their applecart of looting and sharing bazaar of public funds.
For these two groups, anything the President says or does or initiates or accomplishes, must be attacked, criticised, condemned and made to look worthless even if it is the free feeding of primary school pupils, or the seizure of territory from the hands of “Boko Haram”, or the N-Power programme, or the TraderMonie policy which is now boosting the macro-economic health of the nation, or the construction of several roads across the country, or the revival of our neglected rail lines, or the massive improvement of electricity generation and supply, or the several payments of bailouts to states to clear backlogs of salaries and enhance their local economies, or the steady boost in agriculture to diversify the economy and so on. Their rabid hatred of the President for no justifiable reason is just in tandem with an African proverb that says, even if you dance on water, your enemies will accuse you of raising dust!
The world is replete with countless examples of drastic steps or actions certain nations and their leaders have had to take in the promotion and sustenance of their national interests. There is no person in any sovereign nation that is better informed than the government of the nation, and that’s because of the availability of security and intelligence agencies who feed it with various intelligence information on various plots by locals or foreigners against the well-being of the sovereign state. If the government acts on such credible information, and arrests the plotters, and some lawyers, out of mischief or out of pathetic ignorance, explore and exploit the weaknesses of our laws to have such dangerous persons released, what do you expect the government to do when the nation’s national interest of security is under such severe threat?
Be mindful of the fact and truth that if such dangerous persons are walking free, and they perpetrate their evil plots against the public or against public institutions, it is the very same people making untenable noises about the so called supremacy of the rule of law over national interests that will begin to attack the same government again for “failing to protect citizens”. Yet, they are the ones hiding behind the rule of law to have notorious persons moving about freely! With such persons, you can never win, and the best thing for any reasonable and responsible government to do is to simply listen to them but do what is right in the nation’s interest.
On this matter and in this context, if the United States is right in elevating its national interests over international rule of law, then President Muhammadu Buhari is very right. By Sharon Cham https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/10/between-buhari-and-rule-of-law-activists/Very insightful piece!Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

JUST less than a month ago, the United States of America, USA, categorically said it will not cooperate with the International Criminal Court of Justice, ICC, in any way or any form, and neither will it allow the court to try any American citizen nor that of any of its allies. The US national security adviser, Ambassador John Bolton specifically called the ICC an “illegitimate court” besides threatening the entire judges of the court with sanctions if they dared entertain anything or any matter the US considers a threat to their national interests!
https://www.vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Screen-Shot-2018-10-07-at-13.01.42-e1538914312857.png President Muhammadu Buhari
Here in Nigeria, there was a recent so- called uproar by some so-called rule of law advocates after President Muhammadu Buhari rightly said that national interest supercedes the rule of law which some people use as a convenient cover to seek freedom or protection for persons accused of committing heinous crimes and even rising against the sovereignty of the Nigerian State like Sambo Dasuki, Nnamdi Kanu and others like them! To such people, rule of law reigns when every rogue of their liking is walking about freely without any accountability.
I thought I will see or hear any such deafening outrage from these rule of law “activists” after the US’ pronouncement on the ICC, but, alas, till now there’s dead silence from them! The US has been known as the greatest champion and advocate of democracy and the rule of law, both domestically and internationally, but to hear them rile against an internationally legitimate organ like the ICC that was created and established for the sole purpose of strengthening democracy and the rule of law globally? Well, that was a shocker!
The simple message the US is passing to everyone that cares is this: the national interest of the United States of America supercedes the rule of law just as President Buhari also rightly said Nigeria’s national interest supercedes the so called rule of law! |

Politics › Travel Ban List Didn't Come From Up - Presidency by midolian(op): 6:14am On Oct 15, 2018 |
The Presidency has denied issuing a list of Nigerians affected by a travel ban as it also clarified that the Executive Order No. 6 is not a political weapon against opposition but part of revolutionary efforts to rid Nigeria of corruption.
Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity issued the clarification today after a national newspaper published a list containing 50 names of people cutting across the two main political parties and the military establishment.
“I want to confirm to you that we have not issued any list and we are not doing so”, the presidential aide said.
“These cases are well known and to say this or that name is on it will open the door to further accusations, including trial by media.
“The Immìgration Service and other security agencies have the mandate of the President to carry out enforcement and they will do so giving due respects to individual rights, in line with the constitution,’’he said.
The presidential aide was reacting to a trail of criticisms over the implementation of the EO6 by the federal government.
Shehu dismissed the insinuation in some quarters that the activation of the EO 6 was targeted at some individuals or politicians in the country.
“EO 6 is not only revolutionary to the efforts to rid Nigeria of corruption but a manifestation of systemic changes that are required to make necessary adjustments as we carry on with the war against corruption.
“The very essence of the order is to make for speedy trials and conclusion of graft cases.
“The order is not politics and there is no political gain behind its activation.
“These high profile cases we are talking about have been ongoing for between seven to 10 years with no end in sight. These cases were mostly originated by administrations other than this one.
“What is clear is that the access to these resources by the suspects has enabled them to be in a composition to sometime compromise investigation, prosecution and trial.’’
He further explained that, in most of the cases, the courts were held in a helpless position by legal acrobatics paid for from corrupt enrichment by the suspects.
He, therefore, expressed the hope that the new measures put in place would compel everyone involved to make for a speedy conclusion of these cases.
“If it is your money, you have it back. If it belongs to the public, it goes back to the treasury,’’ he said.
