Beyond Borders, Beyond Books: Senator Kalu Applauds China as 5th Batch of Scholars Begin International Journey

In a strong affirmation of China’s commitment to global education and human capital development , former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial zone, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has applauded President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China

He said the growing number of Nigerian students in China and Nigerian’s engagement in international capacity-building programs sponsored by Chinese government is a vote of confidence by Chinese government on Nigerians

Reacting during appreciation visit by selected members of his constituency who came to appreciate him for the academic and social skills opportunities in China extended to members of his constituents and beyond, Kalu said his partnerships with the Chinese government has helped him to give Nigerians an opportunity to build stronger capacity for brighter future.

He thanked the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai for his efforts in deepening the Nigeria-China relationship and promoting win-win situation for both countries.

Politics › Orji Uzor Kalu: A Man Misunderstood by MightyCJ(op): 3:06pm On Sep 16, 2025
"Orji Uzor Kalu: — A Man Misunderstood"

As a Nigerian who has followed our nation’s political evolution for decades, I find it troubling how easily we turn against those who have consistently shown leadership, vision, and commitment to national development. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is one of those rare figures — a man who, despite the noise, has remained a steadfast example of what political service should look like.

Recently, a video surfaced online showing a beautiful mansion in the United States, with claims that he acquired it through political influence. The allegations, in my view, are not just baseless — they are deeply unfair. And frankly, they are an insult to the legacy and integrity of a man who has contributed more to Nigeria’s growth than many of his critics combined.

I’ve watched Senator Kalu for years — from his time as Governor of Abia State to his current role in the Senate — and what stands out most to me is his consistent focus on human capital development. He has empowered thousands across the country through scholarships, job creation, and community investments that go far beyond political obligation. He’s not just a politician; he’s a builder — of people, of infrastructure, of hope.

What people forget is that long before politics, Kalu was already a successful businessman. He didn’t enter public service to enrich himself; he brought his experience and resources into governance to uplift others. That, to me, is the mark of a true leader.

It’s easy to throw stones in today’s climate of social media outrage, but we must ask ourselves: what kind of country do we want to build? One where every accomplished figure is dragged down by unverified rumors? Or one where we celebrate those who have risen from hard work and given back in equal measure?

Senator Kalu has made it clear that he has nothing to hide. He has consistently stated that his assets are fully declared and above board. If we truly care about justice, then let’s not be quick to judge without proof. Let’s not allow politics to blind us to character.

In my eyes, Orji Uzor Kalu remains a beacon — not just of politics, but of purpose-driven leadership. He deserves not condemnation, but commendation.

Politics › Bourdex: The Kind Of David Not Needed In Abia by MightyCJ(op): 2:55pm On Sep 16, 2025
Bourdex, the kind of David not needed in Abia.

I read a piece over three weeks ago titled 'Let Otti breath!' credited to Chief David Ogba Onuoha. I had waited for a disclaimer not sure that Bourdex could allow such base writing but non came. It is a shameless delivery and from all indications written by a hatchet writer as Chief Ogba has not been noted for great penning skills in the past.

As a budding politician and telecommunications giant, no matter how desparate he is for the votes of Abia North, or even wishing to burnish his image, he would have started with his good sides and not blackmailing other successful former governors, other PDP giants with proven and consolidated vote magnets like Ouk, Ochendo and Okezie Ikpeazu who are not in any political race now. Without being told, Insulting past govs cannot send him to the Senate.

Now David Ogba, you have a good education, national honors and potently ran a pioneer telecommunications practice that employed millions of Nigerians directly and otherwise. Further more, there are humanitarian and philanthropic deeds traceable to you. Instead of threading these paved way, you chose the dark street strategy of mudslinging and rotten egg pelting that should by all standards be your last option if necessary.

Very funny is your descent into an unwanted praisesinger to a man who was in his political nappies when you were a valued PDP stakeholder and donor extraordinaire. Many opinion holders and keen watchers of Abia North politics see your ploy as a cheap and escapist strategy to launch you into the senatorial ticket. I wish you luck as it is your constitutional right but if I should advise you, you need to strategize as it is a thorny road with OUK, The former governor of Abia State, a ruthless political marshal already entrenched and highly experienced in political theatrics of Abia North.
If you doubt this, ask Senator Ohuabunwa.

Based on the historical, only a few have made it to the Senate from the LGA status, your highest political attainment recently. It is even a surprise that despite your towering CV of being an investor, employer and telecom giant, you condescended to serving as LGA chairman even as it was christened mayor to make it sound big. The truth remains that only a few in this country have vaunted to the senatorial from the lowly LGA except seen from the Shakespearean dictum 'that loneliness is young ambitions ladder. `

Very worrisome too is that many have wondered how in all your efforts and secret donations, that all good seen in you is to be appointed a mayor in a non mayoral constitution, a mere political mess of porridge that had made many see you as nothing but a loud, buffonic mouth.

Bourdex, who the hell do you think you are? Be careful how you babble and splash unguarded statements! You may choose this style imitating some who have nothing to lose which certainly may not be in your own interest, especially against those who have been nice to you like senator T A Orji who corralled you to a PDP upward trail. Against your insinuations, has OUK and Ochendo in anyway challenged Otti? In truth, Otti publicly avowed that he is using Ouks templates, so who is stopping Otti from breathing if not you and your sycophancy?

The political climate in Abia North is potent and cannot be easily read accurately by your yapping type. As nature abhores vacuum, younger Turks are emerging, talk about Rocks Ukwu, Uko Nkole, Ben Kalu and Ude Oko, former Deputy Gov and many more. I remember vividly seeing you beside Ochendo in Okpara Auditorium in 2013 and now you are yapping as if prodded from the anus as the Igbos say.
Obviously, you are not the kind of David to tell the truth no matter whose ox is gored in Abia.

From the cultural and traditional perspectives of Ndi Igbo, 'my son should be greater than me.' That's the angle of the former governors and predecessors. Please look at your size, more is expected. Otti doesn't believe in nuisance values as you presntly portend. As a former banker he goes for solid values..

A Call for Hope, Vision, and Effective Representation, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Ph.D, Come 2027

The Ohafia Youth Forum, a progressive political youth movement in Ohafia, wishes to make a passionate and sincere appeal to Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Ph.D, a proven leader, seasoned legislator, and son of the soil,to officially declare his intention to contest for the Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives come 2027.

Our representation has dwindled into obscurity, and the hopes of young men and women across our communities have been left behind, neglected, and unaddressed.

At this crucial time, we need a man of capacity, character, and competence. We need a builder of people and institutions, someone whose track record speaks louder than empty promises. Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Ph.D, stands tall as a beacon of hope for the youth and the entire constituency.

As former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, his legislative acumen, leadership depth, and developmental strides have continued to inspire many. Abia North: '.Why Orji Kalu's Legislative Experience Must Be Sustained Come 2027' — Cleric

Reverend Kalu Ukpai Ota, a respected cleric from Abia State, has thrown his weight behind the return of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to the Senate in 2027, stating that the people of Abia North are eager to see him continue his legislative service.

Speaking to journalists at the weekend, Rev Ota described Senator Kalu as a man of peace, with a strong track record in the National Assembly and a consistent commitment to human development across Abia State and Nigeria at large.

"Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has the experience, the reach, and the results to show. His tenure in the Senate has brought visible benefits to Abia North. The people are asking for his return because they know his worth,” Rev Ota said.

The cleric also praised Kalu’s statesmanship, noting that he has refused to engage in political conflicts with other elected officials in the state.

"He is not fighting with anyone. He is focused on development and unity, which is what Abia needs at this time.”

Rev Ota, however, cautioned against supporting any Senate aspirant who may turn around to challenge and destabilise the progress of the state.

“It is better to have Kalu. He will not fight or work against the progress of the state. We must be careful not to empower someone who will emerge and use that platform to create division and tension. Abia needs peace and stability,” he advised.

He called on all well-meaning Abians to support Senator Kalu for the sake of continuity, experience, and effective representation at the federal level.

Leadership as Legacy: Dr. Henry Isiguzo's Enduring Philosophy

In an arena often enamored with fleeting success and momentary applause, Dr. Henry Isiguzo walks a different path,,, a path not paved in vanity, but in vision. To him, leadership is not a title to be worn, it is a torch to be carried. It is not about rising above others, but about lifting others with you. In every word he speaks, in every decision he makes, in every life he touches, he echoes a singular, soul-deep belief: true leadership must outlive the leader.

Dr. Isiguzo’s philosophy is rooted in legacy, not the kind engraved in marble or cast in gold, but the kind etched in human hearts. The kind that reshapes communities, inspires generations, and alters destinies. His leadership is aninheritance of integrity, vision, and service, passed on not through speeches, but through example.

He leads with a rare kind of courage, the courage to listen deeply, to serve quietly, and to stand firmly for what is right even when no one is watching. His strength lies not in commanding authority, but in cultivating it in others.

Interestingly, to encounter Dr. Henry Isiguzo is to witness leadership redefined, as a sacred responsibility, as a moral compass, as a quiet force that shapes the future long after the applause has faded.

Indeed, legacy, in his hands, is never a conclusion. It is a continuation. A living philosophy that breathes through the people he empowers, and the culture of excellence he embodies.

Undoubtedly, this is the truest measure of leadership.

"Orji Uzor Kalu: The Power Broker Before the Power – A Legacy Forged Beyond Politics"

OUK was not made after he became governor from 1998. It's on record that OUK was a major political player even before the third republic. During the formation of new political parties that eventually took over power from the military, OUK provided his palatial home at no 1 Adeleke victoria island lagos as venue from where he sponsored most of the groups( the west , the north and east gathered there day and night) that metamorphosed into PDP.

He was already a major player in maritime industry owing many commercial ships, owned banks that played major roles in nigeria and in most west African states,of course not a few people knew his strength in the Aviation industry with his commanding dominance of his slok Airline, Dr Uzor Orji Kalu was of course the founder and owner of Slok group that had( or has) manufacturing industries at Kalakuta st Apapa, ABA, Igbere and other parts of west African countries where he had presence.
And it's important to state here that OUK was the only governor apart from president Bola Ahmed Tinubu( his colleague then as lagos state) who after his tenure in Abia in 2007 had the capacity to start his own political party PPA that won two states in the south East in 2007 (Abia and Imo)!!! these are living historical facts.

I therefore say, that for some people to indulge in any mischief that suggests that OUK may have bought the above talked about America house probably because he was a governor, to say the least is unfortunate , fallacious and an insult to the economic stature of Dr Orji uzo kalu.
OUK has been around and can be counted as one of Nigeria's old money men for over three decades and half.!

No matter whatever his political opponents may say , this man has made his mark in this country. He is an accomplished achiever in every ramification.!

Politics › As Hon. Uchendu Cautions Communities Against Supporting Failed Political Actors by MightyCJ(op): 4:26pm On Sep 07, 2025
Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Uchendu Cautions Communities Against Supporting Non Performing Present and Former Office Holders.

Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu, Ph.D, a seasoned legislator and respected voice in Nigerian politics, has issued a powerful advisory to communities, particularly within Abia North, urging them to decisively reject all non-performing political office holders, whether present or former.

In his statement, Dr. Uchendu emphasized that leadership is not a title, but a responsibility with measurable outcomes. Any individual who has occupied public office, whether in the past or currently, and failed to positively impact the lives of the people, does not deserve another opportunity,he declared. The days of political recycling must come to an end. We cannot reward incompetence with renewed mandates.

He further stated that communities must assess candidates not by what they promise, but by what they have done. A man who held power and brought nothing to his people will not suddenly become effective if given another chance. Leadership is about performance, not mere presence.

Dr. Uchendu proudly cited Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as an exception,an example of what genuine representation looks like. Senator Kalu’s signature projects are visible across almost every community in Abia North, roads, schools, water. These are not promises, they are results.

He urged the people to take this advice seriously, stressing that political sentiment must be replaced with critical evaluation. Let us no longer be deceived by sweet words and empty gestures. Whether past or present, if a leader did not perform, he is not fit to return.

In conclusion, Dr. Uchendu warned,The future belongs to the wise. Let us not mortgage it to those who have already proven they cannot deliver.

Kalu's Concrete Evidence Of Stewardship

Communities in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State are celebrating improved access and economic relief following the completion of the newly constructed Obichie Road in Obayi Ovim, a project facilitated by the Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu.

The road, which was previously in a deplorable condition, has now been fully reconstructed with asphalt surfacing and integrated drainage systems. Local residents and business owners have described the development as a “turning point” for the area, which had long suffered from poor road infrastructure.

Speaking at the official commissioning of the road, community leaders expressed gratitude to Senator Kalu for what they called “a timely and people-centered intervention.”

“Before now, this road was a nightmare. It was almost impossible to pass, especially during the rainy season,” said Mr. Chijioke Ogbuka, a trader in the area. “Now, movement is smooth, and we can finally connect with other parts of the LGA without stress.”

The Obichie Road project is one of several infrastructure initiatives attributed to Senator Kalu in recent years. As part of his senatorial constituency development efforts, he has facilitated road construction, school rehabilitation, hospital upgrades, solar-powered street lighting, borehole projects, and educational scholarships across the five local government areas in Abia North.

During a media briefing, Senator Kalu emphasized that his goal remains the sustainable development of rural and semi-urban communities in the district.

“Development is not a favour—it is a right,” the Senator said. “My commitment is to ensure that no part of Abia North is left behind. Whether it’s roads, schools, healthcare, or access to clean water, I will continue to push for progress.”

The newly completed road is already improving economic activity in the area, with small businesses reporting increased foot traffic and better access to markets.

According to the Senator’s office, additional projects are currently underway in other parts of the district, including classroom blocks, health centers, and youth empowerment programs.

Senator Kalu, who served as Governor of Abia State from 1999 to 2007, is widely credited with pioneering free education in the state and laying the foundation for infrastructure growth. His return to public service as a Senator has been marked by a continuity of development-focused initiatives.

For many in Abia North, projects like the Obichie Road stand as concrete evidence of that commitment.

“We don’t need to be told who is working,” said Mrs. U.O, a school teacher in Ovim. “The evidence is right in front of us.”

As the 2025 legislative session progresses, residents say they are hopeful that more interventions will reach underserved communities in the zone.

Why My Ideology Prioritizes Credible Leadership, Accountability, and Human Capital Development

I subscribe to the view that true progress begins with credible leadership,,, leaders who inspire trust, act with integrity, sagacity and put people before power.

Exquisitely, within this bracket lies "Accountability" which equally ensures that every action serves the public good, not personal gain. And human capital development is the foundation of lasting transformation.

When we selflessly invest in people, through education, skills, and meaningful empowerment, we unlock the full potential of our communities and our nation by extension.

My ideology is simple: build people, build systems, build the future.

Interestingly, the implementation of the aforementioned, is the pathway towards actualizing an "Ideal Society"...

An Ideal Society Is Feasible,,, Yes It Is.

"You Are Not From Abia, Take Your Hopelessness To Your Root, "Cross River" -- APC Chieftain Blasts Top Sycophant Iroegbu Emenike

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Ejike Ikwuagwu, has issued a stern warning to self-acclaimed blogger, Iroegbu Emenike, asking him to desist from interfering in the political affairs of Abia State.

Chief Ikwuagwu reminded Emenike of his Cross River roots, insisting that his attempts to meddle in Abia politics are misleading and unacceptable.

“Iroegbu Emenike should refrain from interfering in Abia politics. He is a Biakpan man from Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State. His father is from Cross River, not Abia, and that fact cannot be changed,” Ikwuagwu declared.

The APC chieftain further stated that as a Biakpan indigene, Emenike’s political identity lies in Cross River South Senatorial District, not Abia North.

“Let me remind him that his senatorial district is Cross River South Senatorial District and his federal constituency is Biase/Akamkpa Federal Constituency. He should face his people and stop causing unnecessary distraction in Abia,” he said.

Chief Ikwuagwu cautioned Emenike against attempting to cause disunity in Abia, stressing that the people of Abia North Senatorial District are capable of speaking for themselves.

“Abia North has responsible, credible, and educated people. Iroegbu Emenike is not, and can never be, the spokesperson of Abia North. He should not set Abia State on fire with careless and divisive comments,” Ikwuagwu warned.

He concluded with a firm call on the blogger to stay within his lane:
“If he wants relevance, let him go back to Cross River and contest election there. He cannot use Abia politics to look for attention. Abia belongs to Abians, not outsiders.”

Abia North 2027: Eminent Businessman, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu Blasts Emenike Iroegbu, Labels Him "Cash-and-Carry Blogger"

Prominent Abia-born businessman, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, has come down heavily on the Publisher of All Facts Newspaper, Emenike Iroegbu, over his recent call on Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to abandon his 2027 senatorial ambition.

In a statement issued in Umuahia, Chief Ukaegbu dismissed Iroegbu as a “cash-and-carry blogger” and accused him of making himself a willing tool for desperate politicians plotting against the former Abia State Governor.

According to Ukaegbu, Iroegbu’s anger towards Senator Kalu is not borne out of principle but because the lawmaker has consistently refused to give him money or patronise his blog.

"Emenike is not a journalist but a political errand boy. He survives by attaching himself to politicians and hawking his pen to the highest bidder. Can he deny that he was collecting money from Ikpeazu’s administration and the office of Chinedu Orji? Can he deny that he was on the Labour Party payroll in 2023 working against Senator Kalu? Can he deny that today he is collecting from a serial contestant from Ohafia LGA and another desperate politician from Bende LGA who are eyeing the Senate seat? Everybody in Abia knows this truth,” Ukaegbu declared.

The businessman further noted that Iroegbu had in the past praised Orji Uzor Kalu’s outstanding performance, but suddenly turned against him after being denied patronage.

“Like a dog, let him continue to bark. Orji Uzor Kalu will not give him one kobo today, tomorrow or ever,” he fumed.

On the issue of zoning, Ukaegbu said Abia North is not for sale, adding that “even if it were, Orji Uzor Kalu has the capacity to buy it ten times over.”

He insisted that no politician, whether from Ohafia, Bende, or Iroegbu Emenike who is also backed by “a Lagos-based lawyer,” can stop Kalu in 2027.

“OUK fears no politician, no party, and no conspiracy. In 2027, he will defeat all of them put together, because he remains the face of APC in Abia State and the most formidable political figure from Abia North,” he added.

Chief Ukaegbu also accused Iroegbu of hypocrisy, asking why he never raised objections when other lawmakers spent even longer years in the National Assembly.

“Where was his voice when Enyinnaya Abaribe has been in the Senate since 2007? Where was he when Nkeiruka Onyejeocha spent 16 years in the House of Representatives? What about the late Uche Chukwumerije, from his own federal constituency, who spent 12 years in the Senate? His cash-and-carry conscience never complained then,” he said.

He stressed that Senator Kalu’s record in bills, motions, constituency projects, and interventions speaks for itself, pointing out that the lawmaker even facilitated projects in Iroegbu’s own Umuasua community, including roads and solar lights.

“What have his sponsors from Ohafia and Bende done for his people? Absolutely nothing,” he said.

He concluded by insisting that the people of Abia North will re-elect Senator Kalu in 2027, describing Iroegbu as “a frustrated, merchandise blogger intimidated by Kalu’s towering achievements and fearful that his sponsors will fail again.”

“Every right-thinking Abian knows Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is performing. That is why Abia North will return him in 2027. No amount of blackmail from a cash-and-carry blogger and his paymasters will change that reality,” Ukaegbu declared.

OUK Beyond Politics: The Entrepreneurial Legacy Of Orji Kalu, Unveiling The Slok Group's Impact

-- Ik Ogbonna, anipr, fcai

Orji Uzor Kalu, a prominent Nigerian politician, has had a storied career spanning decades. However, his private sector achievements, particularly through the Slok Group, a business conglomerate he founded, have often been overshadowed by his political life. This article explores Kalu's entrepreneurial journey, the Slok Group's history, its contributions to the Nigerian economy, and its global footprint.

The Origin of His Business
Orji Uzor Kalu was born on April 21, 1960, to Johnson Uzor Nsiegbe Kalu and Chief Mrs. Eunice Kalu. He attended Christ the King School, Aba, and Government College, Umuahia, before enrolling at Barewa College, Zaria. Later, he studied political science at the University of Maiduguri, where he became a student activist. Kalu participated in the “Ali Must Go” riots protesting education policies, which led to his suspension from the university. While his peers challenged the suspension in court, Kalu chose to leave academia to pursue entrepreneurship.
With just $35 borrowed from his mother, Kalu began trading palm oil, purchasing it from Nigeria’s eastern regions and selling it in the northern regions. He later expanded into buying and reselling furniture on a large scale. Recognizing a demand for quality furniture in the north, which was often imported, Kalu sourced furniture from Aba in the east and sold it in Maiduguri. This venture proved successful, prompting him to shift his focus entirely to furniture trading, abandoning palm oil.

As his business grew, Kalu ventured into furniture manufacturing. During this period, the University of Maiduguri lifted his suspension, but Kalu rejected the amnesty, citing that not all student activists involved in the riots were pardoned. He stated:
“All of us in the students’ union leadership collectively agreed to demonstrate against the university authorities. When the crisis escalated, the university senate rusticated all of us. Some students contested the rustication in court, but I chose to start trading while awaiting a general reprieve. When the authorities pardoned some of us who didn’t go to court, leaving others out, I found it unacceptable. Accepting the offer would have betrayed my colleagues in the students’ leadership, so I rejected it on principle.”
Kalu later earned a degree from Abia State University, a Certificate in Business Administration from Harvard University, and honorary doctorates from the University of Maiduguri and Abia State University.

The Slok Conglomerate
Kalu’s principled stance and entrepreneurial spirit laid the foundation for the Slok Group, a diversified conglomerate established before his entry into politics. The group has interests in:
Banking and Finance: Slok Holding Company Limited holds significant stakes in the financial sector, including First International Bank Limited in Banjul, The Gambia.

Telecommunications: The group has investments in Nigeria’s growing telecommunications industry.

Real Estate: Slok contributes to Nigeria’s housing and infrastructure through substantial real estate investments.

Energy: The conglomerate supports Nigeria’s economic growth with investments in the energy sector.

Publishing: Slok owns Sun Publishing Ltd. and Adamawa Publishers, which publish Daily Sun and New Telegraph newspapers.

Shipping: Slok Nigeria Ltd. has been involved in acquiring vessels, as reported in 2025.

Aviation: Slok Airlines operates as part of the conglomerate especially in Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Central America etc.

Manufacturing: Key entities include SLOK Nigeria Limited, Ojialex Furniture Company, SLOK Vegetable Oil, and SLOK Paper Factory.

International Presence: The Slok Group operates globally through entities such as Slok United States Incorporated, Slok United Kingdom Limited, and operations in Ghana, Togo, Benin, Guinea, South Africa, Liberia, Botswana, and South Korea.

Federal Government and Global Recognition
At age 26, Kalu became the youngest Nigerian to receive the National Merit Award from President Ibrahim Babangida in 1986. He was also named the Nigerian Chamber of Commerce’s Industrialist of the Year and received the Humanitarian Award from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka’s Humanitarian Club, the Volunteer Award from the International Association of Volunteers, the World Bank Leon Sullivan Award. In 1996, the Slok Group was honored with the Brussels Award for Management, Quality, and Innovation in the European market.

Economic Contributions and Statistics
The Slok Group has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s economy:
Job Creation: Employing over 5,000 people, the Slok Group is a major employer in Nigeria.
GDP Growth: The conglomerate’s investments have contributed immensely to Nigeria’s GDP since its inception.
Tax Revenue: The group generates Billions in annual tax revenue for the Nigerian government.

Net worth.
As at 2015, Forbes listed Orji Kalu among Africa’s 50 Richest, with an estimated net worth of $330 million (https://www.forbes.com/profile/orji-uzor-kalu/) but currently worth over $1 billion.

Conclusion
Orji Kalu’s entrepreneurial legacy through the Slok Group reflects his business acumen and commitment to economic development. While his political career has often taken center stage, his contributions to Nigeria’s private sector are equally significant. The Slok Group’s impact on job creation, GDP growth, and global expansion underscores Kalu’s role as a visionary entrepreneur. By recognizing his achievements, we gain a deeper understanding of his influence on Nigeria’s economy and development.

ABIA 2O27: As Disgruntled Political Vultures Regroup, Brandish Clannishness As Shield For Irrelevance In Abia

-- Mighty CJ

As the sun sets on the era of political opportunism and failed governance in Abia State, the political ghosts of Okezie Ikpeazu, Paul Ikonne, ACB Agbazuere, Erondu Jnr, Ebisike and Acho Nwakanma, have clannishly begun to crawl out from the shadows of public disgrace.

Like vultures circling a carcass, these discredited men, incapable of hiding their monumental failures, have chosen the cheap weapon of clannish sentiment in a desperate bid to resurrect their expired political lives ahead of 2027.

Their frustrations, shrouded in clannish sentiments, occasioned by the recent 2027 re-election endorsement of Governor Alex Chioma Otti by Hon. Mascot Alex Ikwechegh, popularly known as (Onye Ocha Na Aba) has conspicuously heightened, thus, creating an irresistible avenue for a proper response as no individual has the monopoly of harassment, tantrums and unhealthy rivalry in a political milieu.

Let’s call them what they are: architects of decay, patrons of mediocrity, and champions of underdevelopment. Their collective record in office is a woeful catalogue of unfulfilled promises, looted opportunities, and the deliberate strangulation of Aba—the very city that gave them political relevance.

Okezie Ikpeazu, whose 8 years as governor turned Abia into a subject for national ridicule and embarrassment, should be the last to show his face in any political discussion. Under his watch, roads collapsed, investors fled, funds were misappropriated, salaries and pensions were heavily owed and Aba, the city he swore to uplift was reduced to a glorified ghetto. What moral ground does he stand on to surreptitiously sponsor clannish attacks?

Paul Ikonne, the eternal errand boy of Abuja politics, should first explain his long list of federal nothingness before joining any political conversation. Where is your scorecard, sir? Aside the 7-months horrendous road you claimed to have constructed, currently awaiting intervention by our performing Governor Alex Otti.

ACB Agbazuere, who mistook governance for sycophancy, intimidation and even turned press conferences into comedy shows, now wishes to be taken seriously? The man who waved white handkerchiefs instead of commissioning projects? Little wonder he was unanimously, disgraced, rejected and retired by his people in the last election.

Erondu Jnr., a classic political featherweight, contributed nothing beyond recycled slogans, merciless looting and empty gestures. And Acho Nwakanma, who has become a permanent fixture of “also-ran” politics in Abia, now speaks like an elder statesman—forgetting that history remembers silence and failure more than noise and revisionism.

Together, they now rally behind ethnic chauvinism, pretending to defend a clan they abandoned during their reigns of misrule. But the people of Aba are not fools. They know the difference between those who talk politics and those who deliver politics.

Look no further than Hon. Mascot Alex Ikwechegh—a man who has, within just two years, done what these expired clannish sadists couldn’t achieve in two decades. While they watched Ohazu Road rot into a swamp of shame, Hon. Ikwechegh brought federal presence and attention to fix it. Who truly loves the people? Who truly serves the city? Why not wait until the 2025 budget funding commences and watch the agency transform the road you heartlessly abandoned for decades.

Lugubriously, their sudden, incoherent outbursts and juvenile tantrums are nothing but the scream of displaced hooligans who have seen their influence irreversibly crushed by results-driven leadership. Their insult against Mascot Alex Ikwechegh is a testament to their political impotence—nothing more. Abi no be so??

Instead of sponsoring faceless online miscreants, why not field a candidate and meet us on the battlefield of ideas in 2027? Or are they too scared to confront reality? Or simply being incurably docile??

Let it be established that we do not engage in social media theatrics. We do not trade in noise. We deliver results. We play "REAL POLITIK" . Our projects are on ground, our people are being empowered in line with our blueprint, and our vision is clear. The renovation of numerous schools (River Side Primary School) Et Al, Distribution Of Over Fifteen Transformers for improved power supply, Installation of solar powered lights across Aba North And South, Human Capital Development through Skill Acquisition And Empowerment Exercise, Free Transport Scheme, Agricultural revolution through distribution of fertilizers to farmers, Allocation of Desktop Computers To Boys Technical College Aba aimed at augmenting knowledge acquisition, not forgetting other unmatched political responsiveness and promptness on issues of strategic importance are testaments to our collective resolve towards changing the narrative.

To the good people of Enyimba City: disregard the baseless vituperations of disgruntled amorphous elements. They are bitter because they are irrelevant. They scream because they are forgotten. And they cry clannishness because development has no tribe, no clan, no cabal—only results.

Interestingly, as 2027 approaches, We dare the chauvinists: present your candidate, if you’re man enough. No more shadows. No more proxies. Let’s face each other—one-on-one—in the arena of political ideas and delivery.

Until then, let the vultures wail. The eagle has landed.

Why Kalu Won Re-election Despite Labour Party Surge in Abia North

Abuja, August 28 2025 —

The re-election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the 2023 National Assembly elections came as a surprise to many observers, especially given the widespread popularity of the Labour Party and the Obidient movement in Abia State and the South-east region. However, residents of Abia North Senatorial Zone say their vote reflected deep appreciation for Kalu’s track record and dedication to the development of the area.

For the first time in the history of Abia North, Kalu’s tenure as a senator saw unprecedented infrastructural projects, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, installation of solar-powered street lights, scholarship programs, and the revitalization of schools. These initiatives built on his previous eight-year tenure as Governor of Abia State from 1999 to 2007, during which he undertook significant development works.

One young influencer from Abia North, initially critical of Kalu’s legacy, changed her perspective after a detailed discussion and confirmation from community leaders. She initially believed that Kalu had failed as governor, accusing him of neglect and corruption. But after learning about key projects such as the construction of roads to her hometown, free healthcare programs, and educational reforms, she acknowledged his impactful leadership.

“Kalu’s administration built the only road leading to my community,” she admitted after consulting with elders and community leaders. She also mistakenly thought Kalu was related to his successor, Chief Theodore Orji, before confirming they were not related, debunking common misconceptions in the area.

Kalu’s achievements as governor include the construction of the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, significant road networks in Aba and Umuahia, and major educational reforms that improved access to free education and upgraded school facilities across the state. His administration also delivered major infrastructure such as the Okpara Auditorium, Aguiyi-Ironsi Conference Centre, and multiple housing estates.

As a senator, Kalu has continued his focus on development, facilitating the construction of over 70 rural roads, installing solar street lights in more than 150 communities, and supporting educational scholarships, particularly in medicine. Notably, Kalu’s approach to governance emphasized sustainable development and responsive representation, contrasting with the typical patronage-driven politics common in the place.

Observers say Kalu’s success demonstrates the power of tangible achievements and sustained community engagement in securing electoral support, even against the backdrop of rising youth-driven political movements like the Obidient wave.

Political analysts suggest that Kalu’s model of leadership—marked by infrastructural regeneration, education investment, and healthcare improvements—offers a replicable blueprint for other leaders seeking to build lasting legacies.

Politics › EXPERIENCE OVER EXPERIMENT: Why Arochukwu-ohafia Needs Ifeanyi Uchendu by MightyCJ(op): 6:08pm On Aug 27, 2025
EXPERIENCE OVER EXPERIMENT: Why Arochukwu-Ohafia Needs Ifeanyi Uchendu

-- Mighty CJ

In the ever-evolving landscape of Nigerian politics, the clamour for youthful representation and fresh faces is louder than ever. While innovation and new perspectives are critical, there's a thin line between meaningful change and risky experimentation. For the people of Arochukwu-Ohafia Federal Constituency, the 2027 elections are not just about choosing a representative — they are about securing a future rooted in proven leadership. In this pivotal moment, Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu emerges not as just another politician, but as the experienced leader the constituency cannot afford to gamble away.

A Legacy of Service:

Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu’s political journey is not a story of privilege but one of deep grassroots connection, strategic leadership, and consistent performance. As a former Deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and a two-time member representing Ohafia South State Constituency, Uchendu has demonstrated time and again that leadership is not about occupying office, but about delivering results.

From facilitating infrastructural projects to sponsoring bills that directly impact his constituents, Uchendu has shown that he understands both the legislative and developmental needs of the people. His record is one of visible progress — not promises.

Arochukwu-Ohafia: A Constituency in Need of Stability:

The Arochukwu-Ohafia Federal Constituency is at a crossroads. The region faces real and pressing challenges ranging from Human Capital deficits, youth unemployment, underfunded education and healthcare systems, not forgetting security concerns and unresolved rural conflicts. These issues require not just passion, but a strategic cum experienced hand that knows how to navigate the corridors of power at both state and federal levels.

This is not the time for political experimentation. The stakes are too high, and the people deserve a leader who can hit the ground running on day one. Ifeanyi Uchendu’s track record offers assurance — he has done it before and is well-positioned to do it again, this time on a broader, federal platform.

Bridging the Gap Between Government and the People:

One of Uchendu’s most commendable traits is his accessibility. In a political milieu characterized by excruciating Socio-Political And Economic lacuna, arising from social strata, he remains closely connected to the people. Whether it's through constituency meetings, youth empowerment programs, or quick responses to emergencies, Uchendu has consistently bridged the gap between elected officials and the electorate.

Unarguably, his approachability is not just a personal trait — it’s a governance style. It signals a commitment to participatory democracy, where constituents are not only heard but also factored into key decisions. That is the kind of leadership Arochukwu-Ohafia needs now more than ever.

Experience Is Not the Enemy of Progress:

Some may argue that new voices bring new ideas — and rightly so. But newness without substance leads to stagnation masked as change. In Ifeanyi Uchendu, the constituency gets the best of both worlds: a leader with deep institutional knowledge and an openness to innovation. He has mentored young leaders, encouraged youth involvement in governance, and understands that experience and innovation are not mutually exclusive.

At a time when Nigeria’s democratic institutions are under pressure to perform and deliver results, sending an untested candidate to Abuja is a risk the constituency can ill afford. Uchendu’s understanding of legislative processes, policy development, and stakeholder negotiation makes him a ready asset in national conversations.

A Vote for Capacity, Not Guesswork:

2027 is not just another election year; it is a turning point. For Arochukwu-Ohafia, the choice must be clear: experience over experiment. Hon. Ifeanyi Uchendu is not asking to be tried — he is asking to be trusted, based on a record that speaks for itself.

The future of the constituency should not be left in the hands of inexperienced political infants cum neophytes. Instead, it should be entrusted to a leader who has walked the path, faced the fire, and delivered tangible results.

Therefore, Arochukwu-Ohafia doesn’t need another political experiment. It needs Ifeanyi Uchendu — a credible hand, capable of delivering, the much needed democratic dividends for the overall advancement of the Socio-Political And Economic prestige of the good people of Arochukwu-Ohafia Federal Constituency come 2027 and beyond.

Politics › Kalu: The Man Who Didn't Forget Us. -- As Politically Exposed Abian, Writes..... by MightyCJ(op): 2:40pm On Aug 27, 2025
*Kalu: The Man Who Didn’t Forget Us*

It started with a road.

Not a big highway or a flashy bridge — just a narrow, dusty road that connected two villages in Umunneochi. For years, it had been nothing but potholes and broken promises. Farmers carried produce on their heads. Pregnant women were carried on bikes to clinics far away. Children walked hours to get to school.

And then one morning, the rumble of bulldozers filled the air.

The people thought it was a dream.

But it wasn’t.

It was Senator Orji Uzor Kalu — and that was just the beginning.

“He Came Back For Us”

In Abia North, politicians often forget the people once the elections are over. But OUK was different.

“Some of us voted for him because of what he did as Governor,” says Mama Nnenna, a 68-year-old widow in Ohafia. “But we didn’t know he would still remember us in our small village.”

He did more than remember.

He showed up.

With boreholes.
With transformers.
With textbooks.
With startup grants for young girls who dreamed of starting sewing businesses.

“I Got My First Job Because of Him”

For Kelechi, a 24-year-old graduate from Bende, life after NYSC was bleak.

“No job. No connection. Nothing.”

But then he attended one of Senator Kalu’s ICT training programs. He learned graphic design and got a laptop through a youth empowerment scheme.

“Today, I make money online and train others too. I’ve even started my own business.”

OUK didn’t give him fish — he taught him how to fish.

*The Senator Who Listens*

What makes Orji Uzor Kalu stand out isn’t just the projects — it’s the man himself.

When Adaora, a teacher from Isuikwuato, couldn’t afford to pay her daughter’s WAEC fees, she reached out to OUK’s constituency office. Two weeks later, the fee was paid — along with 30 other students from her school.

“He listens,” she said. “He may be big in Abuja, but he still has time for people like us.”

*From Power to People*

OUK doesn’t just chase power. He uses power to help people.

He fought for more security presence in border towns threatened by criminal attacks. He made sure community vigilantes had motorcycles and communication gadgets. He visited health centers that were falling apart — and brought funds to rebuild them.

While others hold town hall meetings in air-conditioned hotels, he sits under mango trees with elders and youth leaders — taking notes, asking questions, and giving feedback.

“We’re Not Just Voting — We’re Standing With Him”

In Arochukwu, a woman named Ngozi stands up during a community meeting.

She speaks with fire in her voice.

“OUK is not perfect, but he is the first politician I’ve seen who does more than talk. I don’t care about party anymore. I care about who is working for us.”

The crowd nods.

From rural electrification to youth scholarships, from market development to legislative bills, the people have seen what continuity looks like — and they want more.

*The Story Isn’t Over*

There are still projects on the ground. Bridges that need finishing. Schools that need expansion. Health programs that are just beginning.

The people know that.

They know that leadership is not about slogans — it’s about staying the course.

They’ve had others come with flowery promises.

But OUK gave them something rare in Nigerian politics: Results.

*The Road Home*

Back in that village where it all began, the narrow road is now tarred.

The children no longer walk miles to school.
The market women now move their goods easily to town.

There’s light in the evenings. There’s water from the borehole. There’s peace.

And when people talk about the upcoming 2027 elections, they don’t speak in confusion.

They speak with confidence.

Because they know one thing for sure: The man who didn’t forget them deserves to finish what he started.

This isn’t just a campaign. It’s a story of trust, loyalty, and visible change.

And it’s still being written — one road, one scholarship, one act of service at a time.

Abia’s Security Gains Under Orji Uzor Kalu: A Legacy Worth Remembering

By Prof. Okey Nwabuko

In Africa where insecurity has become the defining crisis of governance, it is important to look back at leaders who not only understood the problem but decisively tackled it. One such leader is Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Governor of Abia State. His approach to security during his time in office (1999–2007) remains one of the most remarkable case studies of governance in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic.

When Kalu assumed office in 1999, Abia State was overwhelmed by violent crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping, and cult-related killings. Markets were unsafe, roads were deadly at night, and ordinary citizens lived in constant fear. It was against this backdrop that Kalu introduced the now-famous Bakassi Boys, a vigilante security outfit that completely altered the trajectory of crime-fighting in Abia.

Unlike conventional policing, the Bakassi Boys were embedded in communities, driven by intelligence gathering and grassroots support. Traders, motorists, and residents who had suffered endless harassment by criminals suddenly found relief. Within months, the fearsome crime lords of Abia either fled the state or met their end. The likes of Osisikankwu, and many other dreaded kidnappers fled from Abia State. Their operations collapsed under Kalu’s zero-tolerance policy.

This singular move made Kalu a darling of the masses. He took bold risks where others dithered, and he restored dignity to a society that had been under siege.

Kalu was not merely a governor who sat in Government House. He was a hands-on leader who patrolled at night, checked on commissioners, and demanded accountability from local government chairmen. This unusual approach kept the machinery of government on its toes. One cannot forget the calibre of men and women he surrounded himself with competent and eminent personalities like Professor Chibuzor Ogbuagu, Chief Onyekwere Ogba, Ezebunwa Ubani, Moses Agu, Lambert Nmecha, Solomon Akuma SAN, Chris Uche SAN, Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa, Awa Kalu SAN, Dr. Ori Obasi, and Rt. Hon. Arua Arunsi, amongst others.

They were professionals of integrity who dared to speak truth to power. In a political culture dominated by sycophancy, this was revolutionary. Kalu also understood boundaries. When the Bakassi Boys once attempted to settle a marital dispute, he dismissed their leader immediately, emphasising that their role was security and nothing more. That clarity of vision ensured discipline within the system.

What happened after Kalu left office tells its own story. Almost immediately, the state relapsed into insecurity. Kidnapping became rampant, armed robbery returned, and many who had once fled crime began to desert Abia again. I, too, had to leave the state and later Nigeria because of insecurity.

The contrast between the Kalu years and what followed is stark proof that leadership makes all the difference. This is why I often ask: would the present insecurity ravaging the South East; unknown gunmen, killings, kidnappings have persisted if someone with Kalu’s willpower and ruthlessness against crime were at the helm? My answer is a resounding no.

Kalu’s governance was not merely about physical security. Corruption was drastically curtailed under his watch. Even church leaders, such as Bishop Lucius Ugorji, acknowledged this fact at the time. His later arrest and trial by the EFCC, in my view, was politically motivated. An attempt to stop his rising national profile and possible presidential ambition. History will judge this period more fairly than politics did.

Good governance is not just about building roads or commissioning projects. It is about building a safe, stable society where people can live and work without fear. Kalu understood this, and he executed it. As Nigeria battles today’s insecurity from Boko Haram in the North East, banditry in the North West, to separatist-linked violence in the South East, leaders at every level must remember that crime is not fought with half-measures. It takes vision, political will, and the courage to be unpopular with criminal elements.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose bold economic reforms I commend, must surround himself with competent, courageous, and principled people. Just as Tinubu once honoured Kalu at Enugwu Ukwu and Igbere, he should engage formidable Nigerians of goodwill after his reelection to consolidate on his achievements.

History will eventually vindicate Orji Uzor Kalu. He secured Abia in record time, restored the confidence of the masses, and built a model of governance rooted in courage and integrity.

The tragedy of Nigeria is that men like Kalu are often vilified instead of celebrated. But time, as always, will tell.
