Constituents Hails Senator Kalu's Rural Road Revolution, Says Performance Remains APC's Selling Point In South East

A wave of appreciation has swept across Abia North Senatorial District as constituents from various communities continue to laud Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for facilitating the construction of rural roads that have opened up their communities and enhanced local development.

Residents of Ihechiowa, Ndi Orieke Ohafia, Okai Item, and Alayi—among others—commended the senator for fulfilling his campaign promises by attracting vital infrastructure projects that had long been neglected.

In Ndi Orieke Ohafia, Chief Emmanuel Kalu, a community elder, praised the senator for his commitment to grassroots development. “For over two decades, we cried for this road. Governments came and went, but nothing was done. Today, thanks to Senator Kalu, our children no longer trek for hours to school and our farmers can move freely,” he said.

In Okai Item, youth leader Mr. Uche Nwankwo described the development as transformative. “Before now, we were completely cut off during the rainy season. Today, thanks to Senator Kalu, farmers can now take their produce to the markets without fear of being stranded. He has done more than just build roads—he has built hope.”

Women in Abia Ohafia also joined in the commendation, with Mrs. Ngozi Agwu, a trader, noting that the road has drastically reduced transportation costs. “We used to pay exorbitant fares because of the bad road. Now, prices have dropped. Senator Kalu is not just working; he is making life easier for us.”

In Alayi, Mr. Chidiebere Okonkwo, a teacher, described the senator’s performance as a rare example of political sincerity. “This is not about politics—it is about impact. Senator Kalu is one of the few who have actually delivered, and that is why even people who don’t support APC are acknowledging his efforts.”

Mrs. Adaeze Mbah, a women leader in the area, added: “People may have their political leanings, but when a man does well, it must be acknowledged. Senator Kalu’s performance is the APC’s strongest selling point in our zone.”

Many residents agreed that the former Abia State Governor’s developmental strides have elevated the image of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East, a region where the party has historically struggled for support.

Senator Orji Kalu Begins Additional 2KM Umuzomgbo —Okpo Ihechiowa Road After 2.4KM Project

Residents of Umuzomgbo Ihechiowa in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State are set to experience much-needed relief, as Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has commenced the construction of a new 2-kilometre road in the community.

During a visit to the area by our correspondent, it was observed that construction works had already commenced. It was also gathered that Senator Kalu had earlier delivered a 2.4-kilometre road project in the same area before embarking on the new initiative.

The fresh intervention has sparked excitement among residents, who expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for his commitment to easing the transportation challenges faced by the people.

Speaking to our correspondent, a resident, Mr Agwu Okoro, described Senator Kalu as “a miracle worker” whose projects have transformed previously neglected communities.

“Senator Kalu is a miracle worker. What we thought was impossible, he has made possible. This road will change our lives,” Mr Okoro said.

Mrs Mary Kalu, a farmer from the community also praised the Senator’s efforts, saying: “We are grateful to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for remembering Umuzomgbo Ihechiowa. His intervention has brought hope and development to our people.”

Similarly, a youth from the community, Prince Okorie Awa, commended the Senator for prioritising rural development, stating: “This road is moving towards Okpo-Ihechiowa, and it will give us access to neighbouring communities, and this will open up economic opportunities for us. We sincerely thank Senator Kalu.”

The ongoing construction of the 2KM Umuzomgbo Ihechiowa Road is expected to improve connectivity within the area and contribute to the overall development of Arochukwu Local Government Area.

Since then, he has remained focused on his business and personal commitments, refusing to be dragged into the murky waters of petty, stomach-infrastructure driven politics.

It is shameful that a village gossip, desperate for relevance, would attempt to smear Dr. Ogah’s name just to feed his hunger for attention and political crumbs. If you have lost your influence and your so-called “customers,” do not foolishly imagine that using Uche Ogah’s reputable name will help you revive your failed political career.

Dr. Ogah is too focused on higher goals to pay attention to idle talk from political jobbers. The people of Abia North are wiser and know the real contributors to their progress.

We advise those trading in cheap blackmail to find another target — Uche Ogah is simply not available for your gutter politics.

Easter: Senator Kalu Congratulates Christians, Urges Love, Sacrifice, and Unity

Former Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Christian faithful, urging them to reflect on the values of love, sacrifice, and unity that define the Easter season.

In a message released to mark the 2025 Easter celebration, Kalu noted that Easter is a period of sober reflection and spiritual renewal, and it offers a unique opportunity for Christians to re-dedicate themselves to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

“Easter is not just a celebration; it is a deep reminder of the victory of light over darkness, hope over despair, and love over hate. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith as Christians, and it teaches us that even in the face of trials and tribulations, there is hope for a better tomorrow,” Senator Kalu stated.

Chief Paul O. Uche, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress from the southeast, has tasked APC members in Abia state on unity ahead of the 2027 elections in the country.

Uche, stated that APC needed manpower to secure majority seats in the national and state houses of assembly in the forthcoming election in Abia, reminding members that it can be achieved if they eschew politics of bitterness and go into the polls as a united family.

He stated this on Friday following ongoing peace moves by the national leadership of the party in Abia state.

Uche lauded the unwavering commitments of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the APC National welfare secretary, Hon Donatus Nwankpa and other notable leaders to the rebuilding of the party in Abia for future electoral success.

With a heavy heart, I write today as a son of the soil, burdened by the reality that what I earnestly wished and worked for—true progress and transformation for our dear Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency—has not yet come to pass.

I weep not for myself, but for the dreams deferred, for the voices unheard, and for the many potentials yet untapped in our land. I had hoped to see a constituency rising with dignity, development, and unity—a place where our people thrive, not merely survive.

Sadly, we are still plagued by the shadows of underdevelopment, struggling where we ought to be soaring. It pains me deeply that despite the efforts, sacrifices, and hopes of many, our constituency remains far from where it deserves to be.

Orji Uzor Kalu: A Legacy of Roads, Sacrifice, and Grassroots Development

When history is written about impactful leadership in the Southeast, one name that will never be omitted is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. His charisma, accessibility, and unwavering love for his people have made him not just a political figure, but a household name synonymous with development, particularly in rural infrastructure.

One cannot talk about road development in the Southeast without highlighting Kalu’s unprecedented strides. In fact, among all southeastern leaders, only Dr. Chris Ngige comes close in terms of rural road construction. Yet, Kalu’s imprint remains arguably the most extensive. From his days as Governor of Abia State to his current position in the Senate, he has consistently demonstrated a passion for connecting forgotten communities to the broader economic and social landscape.

Many of the roads that remain functional and are being maintained by successive administrations in Abia State were originally built during his tenure as governor. He ventured into terrains that others overlooked, bringing life and access to communities that were on the brink of being excommunicated from state relevance due to poor or nonexistent infrastructure, Itumbauzo, Ndioreke amongst other such communities would have remained impossible to access if not for Dr. Orji Kalus intervention so many other road interventions which includes the construction of 1 kilometer and 500 meters Apaanu item road, in Bende LGA, 500meters, 600meters and 1 kilometre Akanukwu road in Ohafia LGA, 2 kilometres, 1 kilometre and 500meters Isiugwu road in Ohafia LGA, 2 kilometres Obinkita road from slaughter in Aro town Arochukwu LGA, 2 kilometres Amaiyi Amaigbo road in in Isuikwuato LGA and 2 kilometres phase 1, and 2 kilometres phase 2, Itumbauzo road in Bende LGA many of these amongst other road infrastructure interventions are ongoing in many communities in Abia North.

But his commitment didn’t end when he left the governor’s office. As a senator, Orji Uzor Kalu has continued this legacy with even more vigor. He currently holds the enviable record of attracting and executing the highest number of road projects among lawmakers in the Southeast. This is not just a testament to his political influence, but to his deep understanding of the needs of his constituents.

What sets Kalu apart is not just the volume of projects he undertakes, but the personal touch he brings to governance. In a recent video making the rounds, the senator revealed how he often supplements federal allocations with personal funds to ensure the completion of road projects. This act speaks volumes—of love, of passion, and of sacrifice.

Reverend Elekwa highlighted several other communities that have benefited from Kalu’s leadership, including Atan Abam, Alayi, Ezeukwu, Ndi Inya Abam, Isu, Umuzomgbo, Itumbauzo, Okoko Item, Nneato, Akanu Ohafia, and Abia Ohafia.

“Kalu is not only building roads, he is building hope, restoring pride, and empowering generations. We must acknowledge and protect this legacy,” he added.

Taking a firm stand against those criticizing the senator, the cleric described detractors as “political jobbers and sponsored nonentities.”

“Those attacking Senator Kalu are jobless noise-makers who have never brought a single block to their communities. They are threatened by his success and are trying to distract him. But they will fail,” he stated.

Reverend Elekwa urged the people of Abia North and the entire South East to rally behind Senator Kalu, describing him as a beacon of leadership, vision, and grassroots development.

“The South East needs leaders like Kalu—bold, generous, and development-driven. I urge our people to stand with him and ignore those who only know how to criticize without results,” he concluded.

This afternoon I welcomed the second Batch beneficiaries of the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation Education and Skill Acquisition Programme who just returned from Beijing , the People’s Republic of China after undergoing a two week intensive training on Carbon Emission Reduction and Clean Energy Project.

Let me state that I am pleased with their level of competence following the knowledge acquired. The programme organized in collaboration with the Chinese government is poised towards exposing our youths to the 21st century development of advanced countries and deepening their quest for a better Nigeria.

The unfortunate incident involved a terrible collision between an Okada rider, a pupil on his way to school and a lorry from a construction company.
