In my days, we never practiced that. The only time I saw the ash on someone's head was about twelve years ago in a place in Nasarawa state. I went to see the monarch and he was telling me, incidentally, it was a Wednesday, being a Catholic, he asked if 8had taken tha ash. I said no, my ministry does not do such thing. He was shocked and jokingly said, all these new churches are not correct.
As a youth, I was not a church person. The uncle I lived with did not allow us to attend church. The wife would take her children to church, we would laugh at them. I joined church in higher institution. I Don't know of now if any school fellowship do that. In my own time, more than thirty years now. Our fellowship did not do such and I became very active.
