Pidzo: Canal+ joins Multichoice to broadcast in Ghana
France's Canalsat has teamed up with African pay-TV operator Multichoice to broadcast over 100 television channels in Ghana, in a deal which will bring football from Europe's biggest leagues to subscribers.
The move is reportedly the start of expansion plans by the French broadcaster into Anglophone Africa. Canal+ already has a strong presence in the French-speaking countries on the continent.
"For over 20 years Canal+ has been providing pay-TV services in Africa. We are passionate about over coverage because we want television viewers to see the world in a different view," said John Timothee, director of sales, partnership and development, Canal+ Africa.
Five premium channels with box office films, sports programming, original series, documentaries and family entertainment form Les Chaines Canal+, while over 90 French and international channels covering all genres are also now on offer to Ghanaians. Canal+ also carries about 30 state and private channels fromAfrica on the service, which is to be provided by the Multichoice platform DStv.
"Multichoice Ghana will provide Canal+ channels' service to the Ghanaian public the same way it renders the DStv subscriptions. It will come as fully installed service," said Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, general manager, Multichoice Ghana.
Football fans will have access via Canal+ to matches from France's Ligue 1, the English Premier League, Spain's La Liga, Italian Serie A, as well as the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League competitions.
The initial full package will cost GH¢230.00, and then subscribers can choose which bouquet to subscribe to monthly, Sunkwa-Mills said during the Canal+ launch in Accra. OPPRESSORS AT WORK AGAIN! |

Pidzo: RRsat increases distribution to and from Africa
Content management and distribution services provider RRsat Global Communications Network has signed several contracts with TV and radio channels for distribution to and from Africa, via AMOS-5, the satellite launched in December 2011 by Spacecom.
RRsat's platforms on the AMOS-5 satellite feature two steerable Ku-band beams, Ku-1 and Ku-3, covering Africa with connectivity to Europe and the Middle East and supporting multiple transponders.
Lior Rival, VP sales and marketing of RRsat, said: "We see a growing demand for direct-to-home (DTH) solutions to Africa, which is a diverse and vibrant market for DTH providers, representing both a great opportunity and a great challenge for us. We are providing leading TV and radio channels with the opportunity to reach this continent with a huge population. RRsat has expanded its sales force for this region, and we see good opportunities for continuing growth."

badaru1: @All There is this misconception that some of the members here including myself are not longer here because we have moved to the dark side. For the benefit of doubt i use to check this thread atleast twice a day. I only contribute when the need arise. Personally I think almost all the areas that we need to discuss about satellite has been treated extensively. Also note that been satellite enthusiasts does not stop at fta alone,it include scramble and ta. If you look at the title of the child board it is satellite technology and not fta. What i do not always accept here is discussion on how to hack dstv because it is our national pay tv,that is the practice world wide.
I have involve in satellite work directly or indirectly since 1998,then it was Arab sat and astra analogue even before the advent of digital satellite technology. Also i have been watching scramble channels since 2000 beginning from sabc to hispasat, nilesat and hotbird,so I can not deny that. Restricting one self to fta alone is a personal choice,I feel been satellite enthusiasts encompass both fta and scrambled channels,it is a worldwide phenomenon.
I have given my dues to this forum and i will continue to offer assistance if am call upon or when the need arise. So enough of the so called gurus have left the forum to the dark side,am not a guru i still learn. I am not on the dark side,I started using the cardsharing facility even the advent of nairaland Pls can i av ur email for personal contact sake |
