Please is it okay for my school to mail the sealed transcript to VETASSESS without a verified certificate? On the website it says verified certificate and transcript. But what the school is saying it can send is transcript tunlex01: Check the occupation list to see the occupations you both can nominate. I am not an authorised PR agent so I am unaware of the answer to the question, but I will advise you to check online via the DHA website you should see guides on professions that are needed and the points it gives. Also, check the nairaland thread on Australian Permanent residency, you will surely get better guidance. EngrCGD: Thank you all for your inputs and answers. I really appreciate.
I know I’m going to change to a cheaper school after 1 term at UNSW that’s the plan, I also know that the chances for getting a PR is greater in regional areas.
But my question is if MSC in mechanical engineering is considered for PR or is PR worthy ? |

Hello Engr. To keep it a buck with you, look out for other schools with cheaper tuition and cost of living ie perth and the regional areas if you are going to be paying out of your pocket. The observation is because of the high fees of UNSW (over 35/40k per year for international students @M.Sc level) and the cost of Sydney (East suburbs) where the school is located, some Nigerian students look for alternatives like Torrens University and transfer after 1 term at UNSW. If you are particular about Sydney also investigate Western Sydney Uni. All the best EngrCGD: Hello Presh2021
Thanks for your reply and explanation below. As regards to the question 1, I called my bank's central customer number and they informed me that the officials at the central bank of Nigeria have to first review and approve the transaction and then they my bank will now process the wire transfer. That the cbn must approve first. They suggested I call the numbers at the tradeservice.gov.ng and request for my application to be approved. I called the numbers no one picked.
Currently at the site I’m seeing ADB_REVIEWER, is there a way to speed up this process ?.
My admission is for May intake ( term 2 ). Hopefully I can meet up.
Again I would like to ask. Is Masters in mechanical Engineering PR worthy ? I already got OND, B.Eng here same in mechanical engineering.
School is UNSW |

1. Less than 10k. Payment is via debit card at the venue 2. Yes. But the applicant will not have access to the result. Rather you will know it has been sent. 3. For student VISA, No. Unless you are specifically requested to do it by the VISA officer karryprincess: Hello everyone, please i need help as rwgards the following; * how much is biometric at The Manor, lekki?

The certificate did a little but I don't think it can do much if the items are plenty. This is because they didn't really understand what the certificate is. They took out the items and compared it to the image of some items they had on a screen and they also noted the weighs less than 5kg altogether (both home prepared and commercially packaged items) tunlex01: Glad you did not have your items seized. Did you think the quarantine certificate had anything to do with it? |

I came in with home packaged egusi and crayfish, though it was in small quantities. I also got that certificate from quarantine unit at Ikeja airport. The guys at sydney airport didn't seize it. They will also search all commercially package items you are bringing in and I think they do not allow super large quantities. ladun27: Please can anyone assist with this information so we know what we can travel with. |

Alright. I came in today with home packaged egusi and crayfish. I got the certificate at the quarantine unit at the Ikeja airport. The guys at Sydney airport didn't seize it. I think it's down to what you stated about quantity cos they kept saying it's small and there are no issues. tunlex01: It's still the same process for a few i know that have landed. Buy branded stuff and not in large quantity. Some had their items seized if it was more than 1kg. For example, buy 1kg x 2 Ola ola instead of one 2kg of Ola ola. That certificate is to Nigeria only, it won't do you anything in Australia as countries have different border requirement when it comes to food |

Hello. Can anyone who has travelled in January confirm if this valuable info still holds true with respect to items put in ziplock? Also, will a certificate from Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services at the airport help if one has to bring in stuff with ziplock? Thank you alao1981: Dear All, I arrived Australia yesterday and wanted to quickly provide an update for people travelling after us. Historically, it is allowed to bring some Nigerian food stuffs (e.g garri, crayfish etc) as long as you declare them on the border form. However, the foodstuff requirement has been changed and resulted in most of our foodstuffs being confiscated. There were two other Nigerians on the same flight and they also had similar experience. Apparently, whilst the food stuffs are still acceptable, it must be those purchased from branded companies with proper branded sealed packs. For example, yam flour will be accepted if you bought "Ola-Ola" from a supermarket. However, if you made it yourself and pour into a sack and label it yam flour, it will be seized. So, all of you bringing food stuffs, it is better you buy branded ones from shop rite or spar...not that you buy grounded crayfish from the market and pour into ziplock (this will be seized). The custom officer confirmed that they used to accept the home packaged items before but the rules were changed during CoVid.
Other than the above, the landing experience was seamless and no question was asked or document checked, except to collect our passport and scan. Upon scanning, we were told to pass through to pick our bags. Make sure you fill the Australia Traveler Declaration Form and submit before you head to the airport in Nigeria as you will not be allowed to board from Nigeria unless you provide automatically generated response from Australia Home Office. I do not know the rate barter uses. However, I'll advise you get a dom account and do it yourself. It gives you freedom and has more flexibility than barter, in the sense that you can physically go to the bank to get clarification. In terms of getting dollar, you can use Kaoshi network their rates are a bit better than your typical bdc. As at today, dollar to naira rate via that p2p platform is 560/561 seunfoster: Thank you for this response. Pls do you know the barter Naira to dollar rate for today? I am trying to weigh my options. Hence, you can link it to your PayPal account and use paypal You can also create a virtual dollar card via barter by flutterwave seunfoster: Good evening guys, pls I would like to know how VISA fee payment can be made since the daily limit on Naira cards is now $100. For any decision you take, try to follow the Unsw directive on purchasing the OSHC from their preferred provider - medibank (comprehensive cover), to ensure no stories in your refund https://research.unsw.edu.au/additional-information.For your partner, you may source the cover from a cheaper option. Since refund is just for the student. shams040: Dear All,
Please I want to ask something. I have a scholarship from UNSW for a Ph.D. but I do not have money for couple health insurance as UNSW said they will only refund the health care ( for me alone) when I am in Australia. Now I want to ask is it possible that I buy two single medicare insurance which is around 3068dollars each instead of buying couple? Then when we get to Australia one can get money and buy the couple one later. |

Very correct Sir. So far, the only issue with Australia Visa is the time they make you to wait due to processing. Every other thing is in accordance with their online guidelines which is simple and straight forward Vincentosa: Very correct. In addition, most Australian Universities will make it somewhat compulsory to get an agent to help them do all the document checks such as academic documents, etc. I have never consulted with an agent since applying to UTS, UNSW, and even now UTAS. It is the school most times that will make it mandatory that at a certain point in the process, one must transfer to an agent. You don't even need an agent to apply for your visa. There is nothing hard in it. They are only interested in the processing fee u pay to them. Some of these guys charge you as much as 250k. Visa fees inclusive. In the end, the school will still pay them for recruiting you to them. I have used two Agents before resident in Australia. I can tell you no kobo was asked from me. But our own here is to bill you just to verify your documents. Not that they will help you with proof of fund oh. Very greedy set of agents we have in Nigeria. |

Travel › Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Mike365: 10:06pm On Nov 26, 2021 |
No Sir. It all depends on the school and program. Schools like UNSW, University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT, and many others, you can apply without agent via the school portal, and you can also apply for visa. I think one of the factors boosting the image of Agents with respect to Australia is the limited info about Australian processes when compared to Us, UK or Canada. Also, many schools used to rely on agents because they aren't really familiar with our system. However they now have international offices, and we can apply ourselves. Oviebright: So does that mean one cannot secure admission without agents? |

1. Look at the DHA website: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#HowTo to guide you on the amount of funds needed. 2. If your sponsor has the sufficient funds, you may not need to add your bank statement. Just endeavour to put the necessary documents of your sponsor. However you can also add your own statement to boost your profile 3. You can go first then bring your family when you have settled. However, if you can exercise patience for the visa processing, and have the sufficient funds in you or the sponsors account, then there is no harm including them in the initial application Vincentosa: Good evening everyone. Congratulations to you all who have been granted study visas. May the good God also do for all of us who are yet to receive visa grants. Please I will need your opinion on this. I applied to the University of Tasmania in July this year for the master of Information technology and systems, in less than 5days I was offered admission. However, I was a little busy with work and I didn't have time to respond to further documentation and plus the fact that the border was not seen to be opened previously. I decided to accept my offer a few days ago. Note that my senior brother who leaves in Australia has offered to sponsor the entire program for me, and he forwarded a guarantee/sponsor letter and his bank statement of the sum of 167k+AUD. While filling the GTE form attached, I indicated I was a sponsored student. Then I was prompted to select the category of my sponsor from the list. I selected "others" since it is an individual sponsorship and not from the government and or some organization.
I uploaded the documents in accepting the offer. After a few minutes, I saw on my page that "Payment-Waived". Please see the attached document. I do not understand what they meant by "Payment-Waived". Please if you can kindly help to throw more light. Thank you.
I have a few questions. 1. Will I be required to also submit a personal bank statement? 2. If yes, how much is expected for me to have in the account? 3. I am married with a son. Although I am applying alone for now. The aim is to apply for them once I receive my visa grant. My wife is working with one of the Fed Govt agencies. I have also submitted her employment letter and pension statement as well as mine for evidence of employment. |

At port health they'll give you both the polio drops and the yellow fever vaccine because you need it for Australia application. The yellow card will bear details of both the polio an yellow fever vaccine. In addition with what you're going with, go with a coloured printout of your passport data page, you'll write your name and phone number on the printout. Try and go early like around 10 to 11am, so you can get the card immediately mokikeoj: Thank you.
