ogawisdom: Tinubu is ready to snatch it, kill if needed and run with it, winning is all that matters to him and for him he will do anything to retain power.
The odds are heavily on his side and he has all it takes.
What is the international community doing about the daily killing of school children and teachers in Nigeria?
Obi is like a student who thinks he is intelligent because he came first in a village school of dull students. Again Obi can't defend his votes even if he wins but rigged out, he is too gentle, so it's pointless. Interesting! ....so it takes being a failure, crooked, corrupt, lawless and dubious to win elections in Nigeria! May sound strange, but that could be reality! |

Valthegreat: If you are in a contest with an opponent and you know your opponent's weakest point you won't accept to release your solutions for your opponent to copy. I think that's why both Peter Obi and Atiku will find it hard to release their solutions. Also, since some Nigerians can vote for Tinubu just for saying 'bala blu' and all sort of planned gibirish in 2023, it simply means it is no longer an intellectual contest. The weakest point of these Lagos band of kleptomaniacs is that Lagos has enough to resources that can go round the politicians and you will still have enough funds for visible work via more tax or even borrowing. Moreover, a lot of infrastructure are already in place in Lagos and most of the businesses in Nigeria are headquartered in Lagos yielding tax revenue to Lagos so it is easy to make money in Lagos. So applying the same strategy that has seemed excellent for Lagos so far to Nigeria as a whole is the reason for the monumental failure. Nigeria has meagre resources so if you want to loot and still do some projects it will only result in massive borrowing which is what we are witnessing. Anybody that lived his whole life in Lagos can not understand Nigeria not to talk of leading the country effectively. I that came from the south and have lived in the north each time I buy fuel at #1,300 per liter or gas at #1,700 per Kg what usually comes to my is 'how are people in the north surviving'?
As an Economist I have been supporting total deregulation since Jonathan's days but borrowing Nigeria's present and future upon deregulation just to share to politicians instead of investing same in projects with capacity to repay the debts in the future is total economic rape that will hunt this country for decades to come. You are absolutely right about the misuse and looting of the resources. However, "Total Deregulation" is an invitation to total disaster in a inefficient environment or market for a product that has inelastic demand. It does not help any developing country. What is required is supervised deregulation, with the govt still supervising some aspects of the pricing regime for petroleum products e.g. fees, taxes, margins etc you up |

But the issue is, Tinubu himself was not civil when he was in opposition criticizing past govts. He called a sitting president a "drunken fisherman" which is an apparent reference to Jonathan and his kindmen, who were mostly fishermen by tradition. |

Swift implementation of the State Police and true financial autonomy for LGAs would help greatly as a lasting solution. I hope so, and you are perfectly right, theoretically speaking, But when I remember how we Nigerians ABUSE virtually every system and innovation, I begin to shudder! Some particular State may unleash its State Policemen unto the roads to start collecting/ enforcing things like motor vehicle license fees, Road worthiness, solar installation fees etc. all in a bid to extort revenue from residents. Local Govt. Autonomy: will the LGAs be able to handle and pay the salaries, gratuity and pension of all LG employees? I doubt! |

What alternative do you or your presidential candidate propose? The 'I will increase electricity by 10,000MW but cantt tell you how' mantra?
Your submission would make sense to me if you are supporting Sowore and his AAC for President,as that is a real paradigm shift, but if it is Atiku, Obi, Amaechi and Kwankwaso, then you are just a big hypocrite as these leading candidates have the same policies and none of them will birth any new Nigeria. I am even glad Tinubu has the cojones to follow through. I am unsure the others wouldnt have chickened out- a worse scenario.
I dont like Tinubu or his brand of politics. I am highly critical of this government on many fronts. I have no dog in this fight and consider all 'leading candidates' the same, but I credit this govt and the CBN for the reforms that is bringing sanity to the business environment and has seen the stock market boom. This is about the only thing I am currently benefiting from Nigeria and I dont want any clueless candidate to come to office and mortgage that on the platform of cheap populism. The stock market has been booming long before Tinubu became president, partly because of better investor education, enlightenment etc. and the devaluation of the naira over the years has also influenced more people to find a way to invest their money in stocks, bonds etc. instead of keeping it inside the bank with little or no interest, to hedge against inflation etc. The market will still boom after Tinubu is no longer the president because there is huge potential. By the way, every 1000 you make in the NGX right now is the equivalent v=worth of about N200 a few years ago! Prices have increased, so your N1000 of today may not even buy what N200 used to buy. I was shocked when I heard that a bottle of groundnut is now N1,800-N2000. Something that was N300-N350 just a few years ago |

ghm: Oga, the simple thing we are asking is this: we have seen what Tinubu has done and has not done so far. Now, we are asking anyone who wants to come in to replace him to tell us what they will do differently in the next four years, and how. That way, we can choose between them and Tinubu. Otherwise, they should wait till 2031 – we don't want to enter one chance again. Your questions is misguided? What you should ask first, is this: Has the person in govt now fulfilled the promises he made to you? If not, the one in govt right now is the ''one chance'' i.e. the deception. Learn to put more pressure on your govt, so that those who want to come in future would take you very serious and some would voluntarily withdraw from the race because they know the people would be very hard on them when they come to power. But you want to leave the people in govt, alone and have a free pass to keep mismanaging the country |

Oasisblue: Wow. So NELFUND hasnt helped indigent students? The boom we experienced on the NGX before the recent slump was due to these bold economic reforms. Are you saying the masses dont have cause ti travel on the parts of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road completed so far?
Any government that took the bold economic and infrastrural development steps earlier listed cant be said to be 'doing nothing'. Lets be sincere to our conscience. While majority of these steps may not have translated into bettter life for the citizens, lets consider the scenario if we have continued with the Buharinomics- borrowing to pay fuel subsidies(an amount surpassing annual budget for health and education), using 97% of revenues to service debts, CBN printing currencies and practically runnign a parallel govt in a govt and having a dual-exchange rate that turned loafers with connections to overnight billionaires via financial round -tripping. We were on the verge of national bankrupcy a la Argentina, Greece and Ghana. People like you are the reason some useless govts still beat their chest that they are performing? Anybody that uses the so called ''boom'' in the stock market as an achievement is totally clueless! How many people are in the capital market, out of the 200m population? Do you know some players in the market are foreigners and only play in our market because of higher capital gains, and eventually move their investments outside the country in foreign currency, also causing more pressure on the naira? A govt that wants credit for 'bold economic reforms'' but cannot tell you the tangible positive results and impact on the economy and wellbeing of the people, must be very clueless. For your information, no govt is elected to carry out ''bold economic reforms'', as you call it. Because poor, reckless economic decisions can also be labeled as ''bold reforms'' to deceive the people. A govt is elected to improve on two fundamental things: the well-being and security of lives and property. So all the so-called 'bold reforms'' would be considered useless if they cannot guarantee and improve the security and well-being of the people. It is like a student telling his parents that he worked very hard and read a lot, but he failed all his exams and scored F9 parallel, but he wants his parents to appreciate that the ''9'' in F9, is a higher and bigger number than the ''1'' in A1. Because he thinks that the parents are illiterates or fools who know nothing and are ignorant! |

ghm: Sir, don't miss the main point, the main point is this: anyone contesting against Tinubu must tell us what they'll do differently and how. That's the standard. Nigerians have tolerated too much BS from politicians, including Tinubu – it's time to demand answers.
We don't want a repeat of the 2015 saga. APC didn't do that in 2015 – they took power, and everything went south. We don't want to be fooled again. Obi, Atiku, and whoever the PDP candidate is need to tell us what they will do differently and how. Please don't ask me questions that would irritate me! What did PBAT tell you in 2023 that he would do differently before you voted for him in 2023? And after he got the opportunity to become president, what has he done differently or to improve the SECURITY and WELFARE of citizens? It is sickening when you people attempt to make or promote PBAT as a ''standard''! He is nothing better than the rest contenders! The only way to improve governance in this country is to kick out anyone who has worsened the security and welfare condition of the people. If another person comes in and he too messes up, we vote and kick him out as well. We must set the bar very high for public office holders and hold them accountable. You don't reward poor performance with re-appointment or re-election |

ghm: There is a difference between 2023 and 2027. The truth is that Tinubu has raised the bar, and we are now talking about his second term. We have seen what he did and is doing in his first term, and honestly, we like quite a lot of it:
- Subsidy removal - Liberalisation of forex - Tax reform - Capital market rebound (investor confidence) - Nigeria rated B+ – two steps higher than 2023 - Seven banks rated B+ – two steps higher than 2023 - Companies making huge profits after paying staff well - Airline issues resolution - Oil and gas sector reforms (Shell's new $20 billion investment) - NELFUND - LG Autonomy - Lagos–Sokoto Highway - Lagos–Calabar Highway - MMIA reconstruction - Regional commissions in all geopolitical zones - Electricity devolution and decentralisation bill - MREIF 20‑year mortgage scheme with single‑digit interest - Power: estimated billing removal (more stable power in progress) - State Police
Anyone who wants to ask him not to continue must be ready to tell us what they will do differently from what Tinubu is doing (and will hopefully continue). For example: Are you bringing subsidy back? Are you cancelling NELFUND or stopping the two highways? If you can't tell us, then don't come out.
I am sure we will see a landslide even greater than the Ekiti elections in the 2027 presidential election. My brother: why not talk about the increase in the incidence and rate of poverty and hunger in Nigeria between May 2023 and now? About insecurity: the FUNDAMENTAL DUTY of any govt. is to ensure the SECURITY and WELLBEING OF LIVES AND PROPERTY! The president has FAILED WOEFULLY in that regard? What else you want to say? |

BlackViper: Summary
A Dutch 15-year-old girl who identified as a trans boy, and later as a dog, has stabbed her parents to death.
She took pictures of their bodies covered in blood and sent to her school class WhatsApp group.
Classmates said the troubled teen had been wrestling with her identity for years.
One classmate revealed: “She wore a tail, dog ears and gloves. She’d crawl around on all fours and bark while running through the school corridors.”
Neighbours said they had seen her strange behaviour for years, but that it was getting worse.
They spotted the girl sprinting hard through the streets at night, perching silently on garden fences and shed roofs and hiding in bushes.
One local told reporters: “She was always strange and kept herself to herself.
“But seeing her running like that in the dark… it was creepy” These things are spiritual, but the world does not want to believe. When you hear some confessions/testimonies in some churches, this is just an example. |
