Foreign Affairs › Re: Israel Planning Hospital For Jordanian Patients In Joint Cross-border Industrial by mikeapollo: 1:27pm On Dec 05, 2025
Elusive001:
Israel planning hospital for Jordanian patients in joint cross-border industrial zone.

Head of the Israeli side of the Jordan Gateway project tells ToI that it will also be a key node in the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor, piquing interest of US and EU

By Nava Freiberg
3 December 2025, 10:27 pm

Israel is advancing a plan to develop a hospital on its territory to treat Jordanian patients as part of a joint Israeli-Jordanian industrial park along the border of the two countries, the Emek HaMaayanot regional council head revealed to The Times of Israel on Wednesday.

The industrial park, dubbed the “Jordan Gateway,” will enable Israelis and Jordanians to cross the border to work on joint projects. An existing bridge, the Jordan River Crossing, located near the Israeli city of Beit She’an, already connects the two sides of the proposed Jordan Gateway Zone.

Itamar Matiash, who heads the council that will house the Israeli side of the industrial park, told The Times of Israel on Tuesday that one idea for the hospital was for it to function as “a center for cancer treatment, so that people from Jordan or further away could come and receive treatment.”

The industrial park, he said, would both strengthen Israel’s economy and ease the high unemployment rates in Jordan, which stands at roughly 18 percent, compared to around 3% in Israel.

“The Jordanian side suffers from high unemployment,” Matiash explained, “and Jordanian workers will be able to cross and work on both sides. And Israelis will be able to establish factories on the Jordanian side.”

First proposed during the 1994 Israel-Jordan peace talks and approved by the government in 2022, plans for the industrial zone stalled in recent years due to mutual lawsuits between the state, the contractor building the bridge, and the regional council, according to Matiash. Over the past year, however, the regional council led a mediation process together with the state and the contractor, during which “the disagreements came to an end, and the project is now getting pushed forward,” he said.

In the meantime, Matiash said multiple “low-tech factories” aimed at employing Jordanians already exist across the border, and more are being planned. On the Israeli side, he said, the council is focusing on “high-level projects like medical tourism, the potential hospital, academia, innovation hubs, and so on.”

With development back on track on the Israeli side, Matiash said the Finance Ministry was working to budget a new road into the Israeli zone, in cooperation with the Transportation Ministry and the Regional Cooperation Ministry.

He said that the council overseeing Israel’s portion of the Jordan Gateway project was also hoping to form a “joint management team” with the Israel Land Authority, which is expected to soon begin working on issuing a tender for a developer to build up the Israeli area.

This is necessary, he said, “so we can bring in companies and organizations that fit the area and strengthen the regional economy.”

While the main purpose of the bridge and the side-by-side industrial zones is to promote cooperation between Israel and Jordan, it will also serve an additional purpose as it sits on a key node in the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) — the US-backed vision for a rail and shipping corridor linking India with the Middle East, Israel and Europe.

US representatives, including an official from the office of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will be in Israel next week to view the site, a US official told The Times of Israel.

Under the IMEC vision, goods from the east would cross into Israel at Jordan Gateway to be loaded onto trains heading for Haifa Port, and then onward to Europe.

"The European Union and the US are very interested in this area and are coming for visits,” Matiash added. “This is basically a commercial zone sitting exactly on the midpoint of this entire corridor.”

Though the cross-border initiative has been long in the making, there is heightened concern over border security in the wake of the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led invasion of southern Israel that sparked the two-year-long war in Gaza.

The lengthy and porous Jordanian border is not one of Israel’s more dangerous borders, given the decades-long diplomatic ties between Jerusalem and Amman following their peace deal in 1994, but it poses its own unique challenges due to frequent weapon smuggling attempts.

And the border has not always been quiet. In September, a truck driver entering Israel from the Jordanian side to deliver aid to Gaza killed two soldiers at the Allenby Crossing in the West Bank. Before that, in September 2024, three Israeli men were killed in a terrorist shooting, also carried out by a Jordanian truck driver.

To ensure that the Jordan Gateway initiative remains a safe one, Matiash said the council was waiting “for the state to finalize the security and safety arrangements with the security bodies.”

He stressed that the industrial zone would function as an “ex-territorial bubble,” whereby Israelis may cross into the Jordanian industrial area but not into Jordan proper, and Jordanians may cross into the Israeli commercial/medical side but not enter Israel beyond the zone.

Full entry into Israel would still require the nearby Allenby Crossing, he said.

The other bozo I don't know grin grin grin
Fela did not invent Afrobeat and he is not the creator. This lie has been peddled for far too long!
If you care to know, Fela was playing Highlife music. He later travelled and lived in Ghana 1967-69 and joined a band in Accra called Hedzolleh. That is where Fela learnt what is now called ''Afrobeat''. He was later joined in the same band by Hugh Masekela of South Africa. That is why there is some similarity in their instrumentation, rhythms and percussions.
Ghana was like the mecca and hotbed of the best musicians in Africa at that time, coming from the huge influence of Highlife music.
But Fela became the most famous musician partly because of his radicalism, revolutionary message, political activism and controversies.

DyshApp:
Billionaire politician, Ned Nwoko has taken a moment to publicly praise his wife, Laila Nwoko, celebrating her loyalty, patience, and quiet strength amid public attention and controversies.

Taking to his Instagram page, Ned expressed his admiration, love, and gratitude for Laila’s unwavering support, patience, and quiet strength in both private and public life.

“In a world where noise travels faster than truth, I want to speak about the woman I know, the woman I love, and the woman I cherish, my wife, Laila,” he wrote.

Ned went on to highlight her unique qualities, noting that Laila is not someone who seeks attention on social media.

She prefers a private, peaceful life, focusing her energy on what truly matters, her family, her marriage, and the life she shares with him.

“She has always been my rock, my source of calm in the storm, and the reason I remain grounded, praising her unwavering support. Ned added.

He further noted that Laila does not feel the need to defend herself online because she knows her worth is not determined by public opinion.

This heartfelt tribute comes after the marital fallout between Ned and his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, with Laila stepping in to defend her husband amid accusations that she almost affected the marriage negatively.

Ned also acknowledged Laila’s depth of character, her grace in handling challenges, and her ability to inspire through quiet strength.

Many ladies nowadays would not like this but it is the truth: men would always cherish the calm, cool, receptive, intelligent wife. All the ones that do paparazzi and peperempe social media noises do not impress most serious men.

Volatility and inactivity is the price we pay for compound interest.
I only bring NCR, a nano fraction of my portfolio come board today make e motivate people wey still dey the game — no cap, no lamba, no exaggeration, just the real numbers. Ironically, I remember say you (or person wey get similar handle) sell your own for sub-₦30 at the command of your fast fingers because fear catch you that time. Nothing personal, e just dey show say wetin one person call “luck” na another person’s patience and conviction.
My philosophy dey simple: I stay strictly inside my circle of competence and within the cash I fit comot for mouth. I do not borrow to invest.
Once company no dey pay dividend, I no dey average up or down — I just siddon dey look. Time, more than anything, dey always resurrect good business wey dey face temporary headwind.
I no get strength to turn this place to ego-wrestling arena again. Make we allow the thread rest.
You go still see more real, motivating, no-cap, no lamba stories from me in the coming days. If e pain you, you fit mute me — no wahala. But the results no go mute themselves.
Remain blessed.
The bolded is something that a lot of people are yet to appreciate either due to pressure, the lure of other stocks, fear of losing capital, or frustration of not receiving cash dividends in a while.

If you need 20 million units on floor, currently valued at N28 billion. If a big investor tries to buy that quantity on the floor, he might end up pushing the price to N1700 on the floor.

I think the current happenings in the market whereby right offers are more expensive that the market price is deliberate
Exactly
The rights offers being lower than market prices may also be due to current bearish sentiments in the market, otherwise rights offers should be lower than market prices

This post was specicifically targeted at so-called 'big boys' who rush to buy N80Million Benz. And guy, it will take a high level of discipline for an avearge Nigerian to buy an N8M car out of N100million
That discipline should be the real thing. Let's even make it N10m for a car.
The N100m should be planned and invested very well so that it can grow and regenerate into bigger wealth that can sustain the lucky guy for many years into the future. Such opportunity may never come again in a life time.

Some of you will touch N100 million and your first instinct is to go and buy Benz like you’re auditioning for a Lekki reality show. But calm down first. In this Nigeria, peace of mind > packaging.

A smart play?
-Buy a clean Camry or Lexus for N25M.
-Invest N30M into diverse Mutual Funds and you'll receive N500k returns monthly.
-Invest N20M into diverse landed properties in developing locations like Lagos or Abuja outskirts, Ota, Abeokuta, Ifo, Lokoja, Asaba outskirts, Benin outskirts, Ijebu etc
-Use the balance as liquid cash to sort your daily lifestyle

That’s how you build soft life without loud suffering. It’s the kind of financial sense they didn’t teach us in school, but you get it here for free.

READ MORE ON OUR BLOG: https://earnmoney.ng/
You made your first N100m and you spend whole N25m to buy a car? Who do you want to impress? Why don't you get a decent, modest car for around N8-N10m and invest about M60m in mutual funds, bonds, TB etc. to get about N1m returns monthly and invest about N25m in landed properties and use N5m to support other things, businesses etc.
Your daily expenses should come from the monthly income from your investments. You can even use the N1m monthly income to start developing your landed properties gradually.

Shameless hypocrites. It is always the Arabs and the so-called ''Palestinians'' who have vowed to erase Israel from the surface of the earth. That is the mission and objectives of Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas etc.
If Israel wanted to erase them, Israel has nuclear weapons to do so within a few hours!

The buyer of this 'right' should buy from the market instead. I mean, that's what I would do.

I think the rights issues would make sense if the price is reasonably lower than the market price.
The ''market'', in this instance, are the individual owners of the rights, hence they have to sell the ''rights'' to those willing to buy from them.
