Why would you say tax excuses?
It is a fact known globally that taxes lead to increase in costs and could drive some items from the reach of the common man.

See how Tinubu is settling several decades long crisis, from settling $7billion Fx backlog, NNPC legacy debts, IMF loan, resolving Ogoni crisis, resolving Southern Kaduna marginalization, creating regional development commissions, etc. Others like constitutional amendments, LG autonomy, state police ( to be concluded as soon as possible).
Other legacy debts such as payment of 4 trillion naira GenCos debt, 185 billion to Gas Suppliers, (Already been approved and funds expected for release as soon as possible).

I pity wailers and Bitter Obidients, they will cry for 50 more years.
What matters most is the economic welfare and security of life and property of the citizens. Tinubu has failed in the most critical areas of governance

However, I am still wondering why you are not putting this your knowledge and expertise into use in other jurisdictions where we have the sophistication and instruments you are looking for, the global stock market, crypto , volatility index and the likes.

Family › Re: Help, How Should I Handle This Family Secret? by mikeapollo: 7:46am On Dec 26, 2025
Kcash200:
Hi guys,

I have a problem i have been dealing with since i was 12. I am from a large family and when i was 12, my mum told me my Dad is not my biological father and for me to make it a secret. I did not know what to do with such an information at that age but i knew it was wrong but i couldnt talk so i am not the one who destroys the family. Everyone lives in peace but i always wonder what will happen if only they know the truth. My biological father has other children and some of them know me that i am outside. He was involved in my life financially from 12years as far as i am aware of. He sent me money then and i kept quiet too and also supported me financially a couple of times though we have no personal relationship asides 2-3mins phone calls here and there and it is been like that for years.

I know my biological father and we kept in touch while i was in secondary school. Now that i am an adult now, i feel really sad about the whole thing and sometimes i even cry on my bed. I have been living in secret and a double life and fearing i might be outed one day. Some people in my mother's family are aware which is very strange and i find it shameful as a man now but i did not choose my fate. I have always tried to forget it and just leave my life but it is always just there especially when i think about starting my own family. I am striving hard for it not to define the way i see marriage and life as i am trying to write a different story for myself.

I grew up with my father who is not my biological father and i have been a good son to him as well and still taking care of him but it bothers that my whole life is a lie and it is hard knowing what i know and i can't say anything as that will scatter the family. I met some girls from a very good home who i can marry but i am scared if i tell her or other girls, that her parent will not let me marry her with that secret.

I am scared of getting married publicly as someone can take the news to my biological father as i do not intend to invite him as my biological father but i always feel heavy anytime i think about it. I want to start a new life for myself but i don't know how to handle this. I do not plan to tell my father as he is getting old and this can kill him at his old age as he has been through a lot in life. He is finally enjoying and i am taking care of him very well and he prays for me all the time.

I am building a good life for myself as a professional and have a lot of girls around me but i don't know what to do. Should i keep quiet and tell the girl i marry after marriage ? Isn't that me building my marriage on deceit. It is a shameful thing to talk about if you look at it.

Sometimes, i feel like they caused me trauma putting me in this position but i am an adult now and will bear responsibility for how i live my life and cant continue to blame any trauma or anyone. I am the one who has to keep quiet for peace to reign in the family.

I don't want to wait too long just incase it is a dealbreaker for someone but i also don't want to be disclosing to anyone.

Aside from marriage, i still do not know what to do with that information.
Keep your secrets from a woman, especially your girlfriend and her family. If you tell her, you are destroyed instantly! You are warned.
And don't tell anybody. A time will come when both fathers would die and you will be a free man.

In some other cases, they claimed they started "Detty December" and Nigerians highjacked it from them. It's better they get new way to trend but unfortunately, I doubt if it can run head to head with the one in Lagos. If Nigerian government really serious, they should promote this more and even make it better and be more creative about it while spreading it to other states to reduce Lagos tension. In the next 5 years, no one will want to visit Ghana again.
Detty December actually originated from Ghana several years ago. Nigeria only started in 2024.
The Nigerian govt should promote it more and make it better? But not to knowledge that the term"Detty December" was coined from another country (Ghana)? That is stealing an idea and it is not honourable. There is no big deal in using a term or idea that someone else originated but the right thing is to acknowledge the first person that brought the idea. If you don't do that it means you are copying or stealing people's idea .
It is Christmas day now and all over several places in Lagos and other states there is no light. Total darkness. And you want to deceive yourself about Detty December. Nonsense!

Is it a normal thing to bomb during peace deal? However, Israel still bombs Gaza daily
Israel is bombing threats that have refused to disarm. The peace deal requires Hamas to disarm at this time. If Hamas terrorists pose a threat to IDF troops anywhere, the terrorists will be gunned down. The peace deal was to save Hamas from total destruction by Israel..

You think seplat is struggling to get buyers? Do you know how much of their production is already pledged to Exxon?

You tell monopoly story in a context where it matters? what's the business of a company whose future productions are already sold with whether another player enjoys monopoly.

If you're a refinery with 20m of crude in inventory, a $10 fall in crude prices will eatly badly into your already slim margins, may even push you to a loss for the quarter.

Your perspectives are valid though, you can make your investment decisions based on them
Don't get me wrong. I only added a few perspectives based on the possible SEPLAT $50 and DR $10 margins you mentioned..
The price of crude oil would affect DR and SEPLAT differently because; it is an input (raw material) for DR, and final (finished) product for SEPLAT, hence a fall in its price would benefit DR more, and an increase would benefit SEPLAT more, all things being equal.

While SEPLAT has ready buyers, DR has market monopoly which it can always exploit to achieve its target, that is my point.

Anyway, let's hope both companies do very well so we all can benefit.
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 1:52pm On Dec 23, 2025
awesomeJ:
not likely.

one has a slim margin, the other has a bigger margin which has just gotten even bigger now.

SEPLAT can make close to $50 gross earnings per barrel, the refinery? maybe less than $10.

There are other dynamics like refinery making money whether the oil market is bullish or bearish (if they manage their inventory well)
You forgot that one enjoys almost a monopoly status in Nigeria and the whole of west Africa. A fall in global oil price may affect SEPLAT, while DR can always adjust its prices to make required margins and stay afloat. What may affect DR is that the IPO may lead to a large OS, which would affect performance metrics per share, and hence valuation(prices etc.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has declared that the National Identification Number issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has now automatically become a Tax ID for individual Nigerians.

The Service announced this in a public awareness campaign on the new tax laws posted on X on Monday.

For registered businesses, the FIRS said their RC number issued by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) automatically becomes their tax ID under the new tax system.

This declaration comes amidst concerns over a provision of the tax laws mandating Tax ID for bank account ownership

FreeStuffsNG:
You just lifted a remark out from the conspiracy theorists playbook.

Russia is not pre-1948 Palestine that was naive enough to let the west import and plant Europeans in their backyard and today have been systematically annihilated and crushed.

Russia and Putin is not naive. Is it not same demand by Putin that Russia will not permit Ukraine to join NATO so that NATO will not build a another 'terror-project' in its backyard that Trump is today offering Putin?

So who is now right? Even Trump said it was a stupid idea to insist that Ukraine join NATO when Russia is vehemently opposed to it.
The world and its history did not start in 1945 or 1946 or 1948! Is 1945 the farthest your history and knowledge of the land of Israel can go? What about 300 BC? What about during the reign of Kings of the land of Israel, Judea and Samaria e.g. King David, Solomon, Hezekiah, etc

You just like to keep deceiving yourself on this so called ''Palestine'' fallacy!
There is no country, indigenous people, tribe or ethnic group called ''Palestine'' in history. What you people call Palestine today is an invented identity
The land of Israel had been in existence for thousands of years before the Romans conquered, occupied it and gave the fictitious name ''Palestinian'' which means wrestler/adversary because of the Jewish rebellion and uprising.

It wasn’t until the 1960s (roughly) that the term ''Palestinians'' was adopted by the Arab people of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. This was a propaganda appeal to reclaim the entire region under its occupied name under the Ottoman Arabs and by calling themselves ''Palestinians'', they wanted people to believe they had an indigenous claim on the land. When they shout, “free Palestine!” They’re referring to the regional name. It’s a cry to delegitimize the nation of Israel, eradicate the Jewish people, and give the entire region back to the Arabs, specifically, to the Gazans and people in West Bank.
