AAinEqGuinea:
Tech hasn't radically changed since the 90s, only the natural course of Moore's law. Microsoft was winning with the desktop market in the 90s and guess what, they're still winning in desktop, steady holding on to a comfortable lead. Microsoft also enjoyed market dominance with PDAs/pocket PCs (also known as "smartphone" which came soon after) and other handhelds in the 90s.

Technology that is "smart" is where many would argue technology has radically changed, but it really hasn't in the last 25 years. Apple was always there to compete as usual.

suggesting that radical changes in (mobile) tech caused Microsoft to drop from near market dominance to less than 1% of mobile market is disingenuous and inexcusable, worsened by the fact Gates is now embracing competition whose device isn't much different than Microsoft's phone. They're not trying anymore, Gates is a confirmed idio.t
A bad market name is a very difficult thing to resurrect from. Internet Explorer became Microsoft Edge but... grin . HMD Global is struggling to live up to Nokia's name, because of the mud it has gotten in the market. Mr. Gates has put his mind to philanthropic causes and is hardly focused on developing technology these days. I think Microsoft is scared that what they did to other companies (IBM, Lotus, e.t.c) will be done to them. So they are focused on that fear.
My take though, is that their branding is weak in a certain sense. Apple's power lies not just in the quality of its products, but in its branding. Hence the tablet score against Microsoft. I can't even begin to imagine what they'd have done if they were the ones who made the Table PC. Samsung works the same formula for their smartphone market. What is the secret behind growing a 'tech cult'? Their answer should lie in there. I agree with you on two things though. They stopped trying and Mr. Gates' announcement was disheartening. But insulting the guy is just... That PlayStore thing sha grin Be like say na true o

LXStudio:
This would be nice. But the problem is budget and ROI. Current gen racing games use a technique called Photogrammetry to map out their tracks and produce the most realistic textures. I'm not sure the collective disposable income in Nigeria is enough to recoup the investment in making such a game, even though it would be cool as hell.
Wow. I've never heard of photogrammetry before. I think placing priority on the ROI would only limit one's creativity and effort. If I meet someone who would do it, I don't mind touring the cities and taking the photographs myself.

GamingThe Fast Growing Ratio Of Cost To Console by Milo30(op): 6:41pm On Sep 28, 2017
Is it just me or the cost of game consoles seems to be relentlessly increasing? My list of games to play when I can buy my own consoles (nobody cares about my fantasies in my house grin) is increasing faster than I'd like to admit. I'd probably be a dad when I can afford them (I plan to marry early). By then 'time' would be more expensive. What's your take house? Why is there an increasing number of potential "daddy/mummy" gamers?

are you his secretary?

Gates is supposed to stick by his product(s) until the very end (which we're not there yet imo), despite winning with PDAs/tablets before anyone heard of iPhone/iPad and Android, despite the fact that much hasnt changed since.

How are they losing??!! I've had Windows Phone since the Titan II (Windows 7) and I STILL remain baffled at how bad Microsoft is losing in mobile. As if theyre so fragmented as a company that they dont know how to leverage gains in desktop (Windows/Office), gaming (Xbox), and cloud (Azure) to game-change in mobile, convince those who remain and convince those who they have abandoned with one lifecycle crappy devices. It is as if they're new to mobile which, as I mentioned above, theyre not. But now this idiot is proud to announce that he's an Android.

There's too much dullardism in this generation, where one is proud to be defeated. I'm sure Microsft'll find some strategy in their growing defeat, looking towards Obama/Android phones as Hope and Change as he has.
No I am not his secretary.

Technology changes, especially in IT. The main market product of 1992 is not the same one today. Android has the largest market share in the smartphone OS market. Windows tried to market both OS and phone and they lost. Nokia Symbian OS was hot stuff at some point, where is it today? That's how tech business works. A personal decision by Mr. Gates should not affect the Windows phone market, if it was good enough. Personally, I think Windows 10 was awesome. The iPhone X used ideas from it and BB OS 10 for its interface (multitasking et al). But they (microsoft mobile) already had a bad name in the market when it was launched. A 1% market share is not what a company would like to stick till the end with. Why do you think HTC sold to Google? However, you are right in some sense. If they had stuck with Windows 10 for long enough, I think it would have caught traction. But then look at the competition, a king of aesthetics (iPhone and iOS) and a king of the market (android) along side the kinsmen of smartphone innovation (Samsung, Sony, Huawei and friends).

All these Indomie Children Sef!!

No one has mentioned 'Koso' (both original and the one we made with Biro Cover and Battery Cap); playing football with bare feet in the rain, rolling each other inside a disused Car Tyre, rolling your bicycle wheel with stick (Janjara), etc.

Those used to be real outdoor fun not the boring indoor games I am reading from the lot of you.We invented our own Toys/games back then and we really enjoyed it.

Your generation has really missed out on all these goodies!!!!
I stopped riding car tire with sticks in JSS 3 grin. I played out door games too, but videogames top the chart.

There's no way I can remember them all.

Water game first
Brickgame
Ending man (family con grin)
Super Mario,
Contra 1, 2, 3, 6
Football (fokoto grin)
Tank
Bomber man
Street Fighter II (Haduken, Shoryuken)

VCD 300
Rainbow Island: (the first time I smashed a controller was when I was playing this game. My sister threatened to report me to my mum grin)
Little Mermaid

Sega Mega Drive 2: I didn't play sega for long though
Contra 4
Bare Knuckle
I hated Mortal Kombat cos I had to fix the pad (controller) every time my siblings played it. It was so annoying
Pacman (inbuilt game)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Batman
I am currently playing MoonWalker on my pc grin. I'll down ISS next, and every God damned game I didn't get the cartridge for. Blade II, Alien III, Golden Axe (that I borrowed briefly)

Although, I never got a Play Station console, my dad got me a desktop PC, so I winded up playing some PS 1 and PS 2 games on it
- Winning Eleven 7: The sound tracks were so captivating
- Mortal Kombat 4: Shinok, Jarex, and the likes
- Spiderman II (This has to be my all time best. I still played it last year)
- Dead to Rights (this was the shiit. The slow mo dive shooting was too awesome. That level where you have to fight with limited oxygen, the final fight (level 15) was a bloody nightmare. That game was overwhelming.
- Kill Switch: COD's elder brother grin. Played it again last year too
- Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. I learnt the horizontal wall run in real life sef grin. I haven't played Two Thrones yet

Lastly, hit like if you still go to apunkagames.net for vintage games grin

Hahaha. I no dey joke with food o. I did that a lot during school days, and the experience wasn't good at all. But having savings is a wise thing to do. The size of the savings however, is my interest. 24k after one year for a one time event that leads to the complex world of job hunting and such, is quite discouraging.
