If he accepts the role, he will need competent assistants including a game reader, because his biggest flaw has always been his subs.

His reaction to a draw or when the team is losing has always left much to be desired.

His assistants has always assisted him in that regard.

I assure you on behalf of my client (Chelle) that he will get the job done.

All of you on this thread, I've conveyed your fears to my client. He has vowed to prove naysayers like Jobie and Goke7 wrong. Time will tell.

As for those who believe, go and start getting reading for Mundial next year. If Nigeria does not go, another African country will go. Your faith and your money will not waste. Amen

I also found the sack of Eric Chelle ridiculous. I think the FA were just trying to exonerate themselves for the failure. They just had to support the coach to keep trying and I believe with time he would have built a fierce team.
very very ridiculous oo🤦🏼

Not an ambitious appointment. Does not mean something good can't come out of it. When Guardiola was signed to take over Barcelona FC, it was not an ambitious appointment but it turned out a masterstroke.

I am hoping Eric Chelle gets us playing in a bright offensive-possessive fashion. I believe with the right selection and balance, our team can do well under him.

I am supporting him fully. Does not mean I won't see lapses in our management recruitment structure of the Super Eagles.
thats why i asked gan gan for that word “Ambitious”and i see you explained it as “one establishing a file of plan and execution of long term tactics” i dont know if my altered explanation, quotes you well.
But i feel all this while we were waiting for announcements of Chelle, long term plans and ambitious coaching analysis must have been discussed behind closed door.
Anyways sir goodjoe, let me respect your opinion, as for my own opinion, i see this appointment as technical decision to save Nigeria’s face from elimination and possible continuity as SE tactician.

No. It does not. It starts from having a broad bird's eye view of where you are going. Having a big goal (ambition) then, finding a manager that can fit into that big goal. Before breaking it into steps and then climbing a step at a time. The steps are not the ambition but the pathway.
sir every coach must and will surely have that broad view na if given that privilege….thats the mistake the Malians made…these guy is fitting perfectly into their system, just one die mins loss and some unfavorable result in world cup qualifiers, you sack him…why not establish him and give him chance to present and ambitious broad bird eye view

When Domenec Torrent applied for the Super Eagles job, he already prepared (if I am remember right) a 120-page dossier on how he intends to build our team and improve the way we play. I am talking of us doing big things and not having qualifying as World Cup as ambition. That is too limited.
sir trust me all join oooo…
Qualifying to the world cup is an added advantage…continuity and his tactical philosophy will be drafted into the team gradually…Nigeria just want to be happy…and an ambition of qualifying for the world cup and continuing his master class…all join oo…

grin grin

Qualifying for World Cup is not what someone will tag ambition. Building a World Class coherent team like our Atlanta 96 team that could face the best of the best in World football is ambition. You can't tag such a team to qualify for World Cup. They were squaring it with the best players in World football like Crespo, Claudio Lopez, Rivaldo, Ronaldo de Lima, Ortega, Roberto Carlos, Juninho etc.
it start from qualifying to the world cup na…if Chelle qualifies us to the world cup, ambitious 101 kicks in…na to give am 10years contract na😊😀🙌🏻

Dominic Torrent himself will see it as a huge gamble than an ambition himself…shey u think say himself no go feel say we wan gamble am? but in the real sense we ourselves are ambitious and aiming to qualify na

Personally, I think Eric Chelle's appointment is an unambitious one. Unfortunately, the NFF are cash strapped and we have to make do with whatever decision they make

Eric Chelle is actually a coach I liked from his AFCON performance, played bright free-flowing football that entertained me. I think I made a comment about him when Mali got knocked out.

I also feel Samson Siasia is more deserving, since Amunike is now working on an interesting project at Heartland FC, I would want to see what becomes of it in the next 3-4 years.

I don't think Chelle is more of a tactician than Samson Siasia and Siasia would have easily been able to put a sound team together.

Either way, we have Eric Chelle as our coach and we need to throw our full weight behind him and hope he succeeds.

I pray he does well with the Super Eagles and have us playing breath-taking football.
sir pls no vex, plss explain this more 🙌🏻…that un-ambitious part gan gan

Maybe NFF couldn't secure sponsorship deal to pay foreign coach as anticipated and they believe Chelle is better and more experienced than our indigenous coaches, and affordable. His record with Mali not bad, some players protested his sack, even Mali government asked him to return back but he refused, as reported.
He may turn out to be good gamble, remember, Hervé Renard had a bad record before Zambia gambled on him and the result was good. I wish him good luck
asin eehnn the rush at which they sacked him eehn you will think mali has been winning afcon and chelle came and failed them
2013 Mali(semifinal)
2015 Mali jah for group stage same group with CIV😅
2017 Mali jah for group stage
2019 Mali jah for round 16 beaten by CIV😅
2021 Mali jah for round 16
2023 Mali reach the quarterfinals and lost to CIV.
meaning for the first time in 10yrs they reach quarterfinals after 5afcon tournaments..instead of you to continue with him you carry am sack am….God abeg let this man favour us oo…SE plss lets turn up for this man biko

The way I see it, the only confidence anyone can have of WC qualification is if a coach says he has Harry Potter's wand to wave and things will go according to plan.

starting from Rwanda..bro if we take a leap to win that game…then fire has been ignited in that group..
SA and Benin also are having tough games in March…i will still have 80% belief if we beat rwanda

I don't even need to do my research. If I actually do, I would find at least 3. But even at the home front Chelle is not better than Egu.
i really wish you will search oo,
as for AE, he is a coach i love from his 2006 days till this moment.. i will agree with you that AE is better…but comparing Chelle coaching progress at an extended afcon tournament of 24, then i will tell you Chelle has almost same winning progress ratio…

AE coached at an afcon tournament of 16 teams topped the group and qualified straight to quarterfinals, won the quarterfinal and straight to semifinals and lost.

Now same AE came back for a 24team afcon topped the group qualified to round 16 and got knocked out

Chelle played a 24 nation afcon, topped the group qualified for round 16, won and qualified for quarterfinal and lost…meaning if it were the former 16nation he would have easily breezed into the semifinals 😊🙌🏻

Again, I reiterated that the Mali team I watched at the Afcon were very good.

My money was on Burkina Faso vs Mali at the round of 16, I expected the Burkina babes to overrun the Malians easily but the result was different. The Malians totally outplayed the Fasos... Neat, tidy, beautiful football. I lost money but I was very impressed...

Against CIV, they played better than we did CIV. They even lost a PK to consolidate things while leading 1-0. It was after the subtitutions around 80 minutes mark CIV and the crowd turned things around. Same CIV also turned things around against us in the final.

I'm throwing my weight behind Mr Eric Chelle. I woke up and saw the news and I gave a thumbs up.

Yesterday we wanted a young coach. We got one.
He is charismatic and will win over y'all skeptics very soon.

All in all, I see us improving so much...
omo i join you to throw my weight behind him oo…🙌🏻

Fierce Tunisia? How did Tunisia fare besides Mali at the AFCON?
Let's also note that SA lost their first game. They probably got better after then.

Tunisia on their day are a fierce north african team…A team that has same world cup appearance as us

football is not all this 1+1 stats we are using to analyze…because Ghana 🇬🇭 was poor at afcon, u think Ghana cannot rise to beat CIV tomorrow…you cant predict all these african giants..
teams like B/faso, Mali,Guinea, Tunisia,Gabon,Rwanda,Angola,Zambia are teams that can beat themselves any day any time…its not as if Mali is one Cameroon that you ppl are expecting Chelle to maintain that giant pedigree…He steered mali the way mali should be steered…Keshi also had the same poor outing with Mali, was he a bad coach?
