So, if swaga nonsense don't want consensus arrangement, let them go and register their own party with INEC, though such option is doubtful, because the window for registration of new political party has been closed by INEC, so the best option at the end of the day for swaga and it sponsors is to leave APC in peace and maybe, port to SDP. After all, if the President want consensus at the presidential primaries, there is nothing swaga can do, other than to climb the podium cry and go back home. |

Those thinking APC leaders will commit suicide acceding blindly to what Buhari wants, when sich would destroy the APC, are fools.
For a ruling Party, you must put your best foot forward. Stakeholders won't watch Buhari rubbish their best candidate to replace that person with a candidate who will 100% send APC into political oblivion. Perhaps the same way he was resisted when he foisted a concensus opinion on the party and went ahead to imposed his candidate on them |

Politics › Re: APC: Where’s The Implosion? BY Femi Adesina by Minime10(m): 2:39pm On Mar 26, 2022 |
Bobloco: A lot of auguries have attended the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), which holds a crucial National Convention on Saturday. And most of the prognostications have not been good. Implosion. Explosion. Schism. Scatter, are some of the words often used to describe the fate that would befall the party.
But don’t forget. The APC had never been given a chance to survive in the first place, after its formation in 2014. In fact, our big brother, Dr Doyin Okupe, then Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, had said: “Call me a bastard if APC survives for one year.” He equally vowed to change his name, if the party ever overcame the pangs of childhood.
On Tuesday this week, Dr Okupe turned 70. And as far as I know, he has not changed his name, neither has he become a bastard. And APC continues to rule the country at the center, and in at least 22 States.
Why do the cynics rage, and the scoffers imagine vain things? APC is not only about 8 years old, it continues to wax stronger and stronger. Like every human organization, it has been buffeted and badgered by storms, but it marches on. Steady. Sturdy.
The much older but rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is almost perpetually in the eye of the storm. Nearly all its national chairmen have left office involuntarily since it was formed in 1998. The expectation, therefore, is for the APC to face the same tempest, and in fact to flounder, and eventually collapse.
But there’s a big difference between the two political parties. And that difference is one man. Muhammadu Buhari. He is the centripetal force in APC, a strong unifier, which PDP lacks.
The APC at creation needed a rallying force. Buhari, who became the presidential candidate, and has won elections twice, is that force. Hugely respected, admired and adored, he is the centre that holds the party together. And he has earned the respect he commands, through decades of commitment to integrity, personal example, and accountability. That is who (or what) the PDP lacks. And it’s the fundamental difference between the two parties.
I’ve heard it often said gleefully by the opposition: Buhari won’t be on the APC ticket again in 2023, the automatic 12 million votes won’t be there. Let’s see how the APC wins. Let’s even see how the party survives till then.
After the National Convention on Saturday, the APC would likely disappoint a lot of ill wishers. The party would be together, cohesive, and ready to make further conquests in the general elections next year.
Series of meetings have been held in the past weeks, chaired by President Buhari, in order to ensure that the centre holds. Yes, the party has been seriously rocked. But tell me which human organization that doesn’t have issues. APC has had problems scheduling its Convention, it has had a litany of litigations, there have been fractures, fissures, claims and counter claims to leadership positions, but one man has made the difference.
Muhammadu Buhari. Each time he intervenes, calm is restored, order returns. And that is what the other political parties lack. A central figure, whom they all defer to. No seniority or respect among puppies.
On Wednesday, while suing for peace and unity at a meeting with the Governors elected on the platform of the party, President Buhari said they needed to be careful, maintain a united front, so that a certain party does not “get its dirty hands on Government again, and return us to the Stone Age.” True.
The President went down memory lane, telling the story of how APC emerged from a coalition of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Action Congress of Nigerians (ACN), All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), and part of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). He then declared: “The party that had thought it would rule forever got a rude shock, when we won the free and fair polls of 2015. That party was defeated, and they are still dispersed, and will remain so.”
The President said he was pleased to see all the Governors standing together, “to solve our political problems.”
He gave glory to God that Nigerians re-elected APC in 2019, and expressed the hope that APC would hand over “to an APC government at the centre, and the great majority of States.”
You may say; but the Convention has not even held yet. Why are you jubilations already? Never abuse an alligator till you have safely crossed the river. Well, gut feeling tells me that the APC will suffer no rupture. No schism, implosion or explosion. It will come out of the Convention as right as rain. Millions would rejoice round the country, while some minority would be like King Lear at his worst. *Adesina is Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity https://concise.ng/apc-wheres-the-implosion-by-femi-adesina/ Imposition is as dangerous as implosion. Mintum: APC: The dangerous coronation of Abdullahi Adamu
By Emmanuel Aziken
Today’s expected coronation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC smacks of the kind of arrogance that can only come from a ruling party. Indeed, what came in as a rumour quickly turned into a project as President Muhammadu Buhari’s famous body language translated into action.
At a dinner President Buhari hosted for the national chairmanship aspirants in the Presidential Villa on Wednesday night, he told them that the practise of electing national chairmen had always been by consensus. He reportedly said that Chief Bisi Akande, Chief John Odige-Oyegun, and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; all came by consensus.
According to a source, the president then affirmed that this time around, that it should not be otherwise. The dinner then ended with Buhari telling them that his choice for a consensus candidate was Senator Abdullahi Adamu and that the aspirants should go and work it out.
Such high-stake meetings typically end with millions of naira being doled out to attendees, and this time around, it was no different.
However, the money was not to come from Buhari but from the party which was directed by the president to return the money paid by the aspirants for the form.
While the president gave his narrative of all past chairmen having come by consensus, he, however, omitted the fact that all three past chairmen came with the blessing of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The first two, Akande and Odigie-Oyegun were directly nominated by Tinubu. Oshiomhole was a joint nominee of Tinubu and Buhari.
This time around, Tinubu has been left in the cold without a role in the emergence of the next National Working Committee, NWC. The explanation from those around the president is that it is because Tinubu has opted to move from his role of kingmaker to become king.
The option of consensus being preached by the president and those around him clearly suggests that his insistence on the insertion of the use of consensus in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill (2022) was a deliberate political strategy.
The intrigues that were brought to bear by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila of the House of Representatives in trying to shoot down the proposal also suggest that the pro-Tinubu camp had been mindful of the moves by the cabal.
But as always, the president had his way. If the APC today adopts most of its NWC members by consensus, it would then open the way for the party to also use the same scheme in adopting its candidates for the 2023 election.
That is the fear that the Tinubu Camp had been envisaging. Though consensus had suited the Tinubu camp well in the past, this time around, being at the receiving end of the intrigues and plots of the Buhari Cabal, it is understandably kicking.
It is not as if this kind of arrogance and aversion to internal party democracy is restricted to the APC. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had also shown this knack when it was in power.
Remarkably, the path to the possible emergence of Abdullahi Adamu as national chairman of the APC was one that the PDP followed on its way to the 2015 election loss.
Still bubbling from the 2011 election victory, President Goodluck Jonathan and his handlers were looking forward to freeing the party from the grip of the governors.
For Jonathan, it was particularly instructive that as vice-president, several of the governors disregarded him. It is a sort of irony now that the governor who perhaps regarded him most as vice-president was Rotimi Amaechi, the very man who managed the APC campaign that brought him down.
Perhaps in his bid to clip the wings of the governors, Dr. Jonathan fetched the septuagenarian Second Republic governor of the defunct Gongola State, Dr. Bamanga Tukur as chairman. Despite strong opposition, Jonathan muzzled Tukur in as chairman.
Having been a governor when many of the 2013 set of governors were teenagers, he looked down imperiously at them. A governor was suspended from the party for not replying the phone call of the national chairman. Another governor, Amaechi was bundled out of the party.
Yet another governor, Murtala Nyako was in continuous quarrel with Tukur despite the fact that their children were married to one another.
The rift created by the actions of Tukur inevitably led to the crack that led to the split of the party that saw seven governors and 57 members of the National Assembly leave the party. One of those who left was Senator Adbullahi Adamu.
Frighteningly, that same Adamu fits the mould of the Tukur that cracked the PDP. Adamu became governor, 23 years ago when many of today’s governors were political toddlers, and like Tukur, would not be beholden to them.
It is that fear that has spun rumours of rebellion that Buhari’s order to go and make Adamu chairman may lead to an unprecedented revolt against Buhari at Eagle Square today.
Besides the possible revolt from the governors, the Tinubu tendency in the party is completely perplexed by this move. Some believe that Adamu who as governor was never on the same side with Tinubu has been brought up to silence the Tinubu momentum.
After failing to intimidate Tinubu out of the race, the cabal may have found one man with the grit to stand up to Tinubu. But at what cost?

GreatAxeMan: According to documents obtained by SaharaReporters, Abiodun's jail number was 8600B9436.
SaharaReporters has exclusively obtained the criminal record of how Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun was jailed in 1986 for credit card fraud in Miami Dade Florida, USA.
The governor was said to have used a pseudo name (Shawn Michael Davids) with the aim of concealing his criminal identity.
The record revealed that Dapo Abiodun was jailed for committing criminal offences which bordered on credit card fraud, petty theft and check forgery.
He was arrested on November 7, 1986, for fighting and injuring a police officer in an attempt to resist arrest.
While being processed at the station, his fingerprint was run through the crime database and it was discovered that the Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun being processed for detention was the same as Shawn Michael Davids.
His criminal record and history were thus cemented and he was jailed.
According to documents obtained by SaharaReporters, Abiodun's jail number was 8600B9436.
In 2015, while contesting for the Ogun East Senatorial seat against the late Buruji Kasamu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he applied for the redaction of his criminal records in Miami Dade, Florida.
This act of concealment meant he could lie on his Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) forms that he had no prior criminal records. A perjury offence that could have disqualified him from ever holding an appointive or elective office in Nigeria.
The redaction was granted in August 2015.
The redaction application details are as follows;
CFN.. 20150534571
BOOK...29743
PAGE...1170
DATE...18th August 2015
TIME...04:20:51pm
It was processed by Harvey Euvin, the Miami Dade City Clerk of Court.
A source who spoke to SaharaReporters said they had in 2021 engaged the services of a US criminal attorney (name withheld) through whom they made an application to get the unredacted document and the request was granted.
According to the unredacted documents, the "NOLLE PROSEQUI" indicated in the criminal records was a decision of the police and the District Attorney (DA) not to proceed to trial in exchange for Dapo's cooperation to name his accomplices.
Abiodun's criminal past has made him ineligible to hold public office in line with the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A group under the auspices of Coalition of Ogun State Students (COSS) in a letter dated March 17, 2022, signed by its Convener, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, has, however, given the governor two weeks to respond to the allegations against him as contained in the documents or face legal action.
