CowHard: Like a common criminal, Helen, a nursing female police officer was kicked, beaten and dragged along the dusty road at Orthopedic Junction Enugu, and later detained allegedly on the orders of a power-drunk superior, ACP Okenla Oluseyi.
The incident which happened on February 11, 2022, around 6:pm, according to eyewitness, was as a result of the female officer, Helen Onoja wanting to answer the call of a nature, an act that didn’t go well with her police boss and his orderly.
According to Sahara Reporters, a policeman who witnessed the incident told SaharaReporters that the female sergeant was beaten publicly by Okenla and his orderly, identified as Emma Oji in front of the area command office.
Helen’s pictures obtained by SaharaReporters showed scars from the manhandling by the police officers.
“He is known for always intimidating junior officers because he is a senior officer. The lady in question wasn’t even working under him. She works in another division,” an officer said.
The Area Commander and his orderly, Sergeant Emma Oji battered, kicked, punched and dragged her on the dusty roadside of Orthopedic junction, Abakiliki expressway here in Enugu as if she was a criminal.
“Sadly, this woman was wearing police uniform when an officer who should maintain the law was physically abusing her in public.”
On what transpired between the duo, the officer serving directly under Okenla said, “As I said earlier, she’s not working with us here but I heard she was posted from her division to Orthopedic junction as a traffic controller. After some hours on duty and there was no more traffic congestion, she felt she needed to use the ladies.
“As she was going into our office which is the Area Command to answer the call of nature, our ‘Oga’ (boss), ACP Okenla saw her and ordered her to go back to her traffic point despite the officer explaining to him that she wanted to use the toilet.
“I was there, the woman immediately obeyed him and returned to the junction without using the toilet. While back on her duty post, ACP Okenla sent Cpl Daniel Onyia to go and call her for him.
“On her way back to our office, ACP Okenla blocked her with his orderly at the gate and started brutalising her; we were shocked. They started kicking this woman I learnt is a nursing mother with shoes. She was really beaten and dragged on the dusty side of the road like a common criminal in a police uniform in public for no justifiable reason.
“She was subsequently bundled inside a police cell with injuries. The Area Commander threatened that he would treat her like a common criminal and nothing would happen. I’m not surprised by his statement though because he is known for assaulting those of us working directly under him.
“The woman was detained overnight and released around 10 am the following day. And as if that was not enough for a nursing mother, this man who doesn’t have the fear of God at all followed the lady up with disciplinary action. I heard him vowing to ruin her career.
“He said and I quote: ‘I will deal with you whether you like it or not, I think you want to become an Inspector, let me see how you will wear the rank’. This is a mother of four children I learnt has been using her little salary to take care of her family.
“Till now, we don’t know what this policewoman did to ACP Okenla. Age-wise, they aren’t mates. In terms of ranks, the difference is clear, so why would he just punish an innocent officer for an unknown reason? The police authorities should look at this injustice, even those of us working under Okenla are afraid of what will happen to us soon.”
Helen, however, declined to speak with SaharaReporters when contacted.
“Where did you get my number from? I don’t have anything to say on the issue. As a police officer, there is protocol and I’m not ready to breach that,” she said

maestroferddi: Ridiculous thread.
We are waiting for the Supreme Court to contradict itself having given express ruling on similar matters in the recent past.
Let someone step up to prove at the Supreme Court that votes cast for the PDP with which Umahi was declared the winner of the Ebonyi guber elections in 2019 were a pre-election matter.
It goes beyond blind arguments propelled by slavish devotion to a political party.
If there is no interference and this case gets tested on the juridical crucible, Umahi and deputy are no-hopers.
The PDP did their homework. No mind them jare! Allow them to keep on quoting the wrong sections of the law. kahal29: https://www.nairaland.com/7030490/defection-why-umahi-deputy-may
In response to the above thread, i strongly believe that Umahi and Deputy will WIN and TRIUMPH at the appeal court. This is because you cannot build something on nothing and expect it to stand.
The case of Amaechi vs Omehia as cited by Sagay does not arise in this instance because that was a Pre-election matter and in this case we neither dealing with a Pre-election matter handled by ordinary courts nor Post-election matter handled by the election tribunals.
Second, the issue before the supreme court in the case of Amaechi vs Omehia was to determine who was the lawful and rightful candidate of the PDP in the said election and the supreme court said it was Amaechi because in the eyes of the law he was never substituted.
However in this case the question is not about who is the candidate in an election but rather what happens to a candidate who participated in an election, won the election, sworn in and later changed party by way of defection of which the Nigerian Constitution is silent on such matters.
Thus, the judgement by Justice Inyang Ekwo cannot stand at the appellate court because like i said earlier you cannot build something on nothing and expect it to stand.
Which defection law in our constitution did justice Inyang base his judgement on?
The judge simply embarked on judicial voyage and activism to create a new law which does not exist and the Supreme court in plethora of cases frowns at such adventure. In the case of Attorney General of the Federation V. Abubakar (2007) 10 NWLR (part 1041) 1. At page 124 of the report, Justice Onnoghen set down the position thus:
It is the constitutional responsibility of the legislature to make or amend the laws including the constitution, where the need arises, while that of the judiciary remains to interpret and apply the laws so made or amended. The courts can therefore not add or subtract from the law as enacted by the legislature under the guise of judicial interpretation of the constitution or statute…”
The judgement also erroneously relied on Section 221 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as well as the judgment of the Supreme Court in Faleke v. INEC. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court decision in Faleke v. INEC does not relate to the consequence of the defection of a governor from one political party to the other.
A more apt instance will be the Atiku Abubakar scenario wherein Atiku Abubakar as Vice President, elected under the PDP, defected to the then Action Congress.
The position of the Supreme Court was clearly stated in Attorney General of the Federation V. Abubakar (2007) 10 NWLR (part 1041) 1 where Justice Onnoghen held thus:
“There is nowhere in the 1999 Constitution where it is stated that the President or Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be removed or is removable from that office if he defects from the political party on whose platform he was elected to that office and joins another political party.”
There is also the question of Jurisdiction i.e whether a civil or criminal proceedings can be brought in the case of a sitting Governor covered by immunity clause of the Nigerian constitution.
My humble submission others are free to add theirs Let me ask you a very simple and elementary question, 1. The certificate of return issued to Devil Umahi by the INEC bears which party name, PDP or APC 2. Without INEC certificate of return, what else has Umahi to lay claim to the governor's seat of Ebonyi State?? 3. Assuming the PDP's only arguments before the Court is hinged on the threshold of the fact, the certificate of ruturned issued by INEC was to one David Umahi of PDP as it is rightly written on the said certificate, and never to David Umahi of the APC , don't you think the game is up for Umahi Go and read the judgment of the Court in the case that involved the late Abubakar Audu in Kogi State and the PDP in 2012. Maybe you will be enlightened because for now you are sounding emotional and emotions has no bases in law. |

*One gunman escapes, as security personnel capture one, neutralise and burn the other at Miracle Junction, Ifite, Awka.*
Luck has ran out of two heavily armed gunmen today at the Unizik Permanent Site, Ifite, Awka.
Two out of the three gunmen who were said to have operated with a motorcycle met their Waterloo when they engaged the security personnel in a gun battle in the late hours of the morning, leaving students, commuters and other residents scamper for safety.
It was reported that the gunmen succeeded in killing one of the security operatives before he was captured and set ablaze.
The other was lucky to have fled the scene with their motorcycle, while the third person was whisked away by the security operatives.
Meanwhile, the security personnel are on the hunt for the escapee. And as at the time of this report, it has not been ascertained whether or not he has been captured.
One of the eye witnesses said, "the guy was very stupid to have confronted the security personnel who's numbers obviously surpassed their. That's why they had to burn him alive." Everyone involved in this barbaric act of burning the suspect, should be arrested and made to face the law immediately. Two wrongs can't make a right. |

Politics › Re: Malami Makes A U-turn, Says No Evidence Kyari Laundered Money by Minime10(m): 11:39am On Mar 13, 2022 |
ogododo: There are strong indications that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, may be plotting to save a former Commander of the Police Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari, from facing criminal prosecution for alleged money laundering.
Weeks after directing the police to probe him for allegedly receiving 33 proceeds of crime, stating that a case of money laundering had been established against Kyari, the justice minister in a new legal advice said there was no evidence to show that money was laundered by the senior police officer.
Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, who is wanted in the United States for alleged involvement in a $1.1m scam carried out by a notorious Internet scammer, Ramon Abass, aka Hushpuppi, was suspended by the police last July.
He is also facing eight counts of conspiracy, obstruction and dealing in cocaine, and other related offences at the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The other defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022 are four members of the IRT, Sunday Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba and John Nuhu.
Two other suspects arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne, were also listed as defendants.
Sequel to the report of the Special Investigation Panel which probed Kyari’s alleged links to Hushpuppi, the AGF affirmed in January that investigations carried out by the police indicted the former IRT commander for money laundering.
Malami, in a legal advice, therefore, directed the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, to carry out further investigations, noting that a prima facie case of money laundering had been established against the DCP.
He also said the force should intensify investigation into 33 crime proceeds received by the ex-IRT commander.
Our correspondent had exclusively reported that police investigations revealed how the international scammers led by Hushpuppi paid N235,120,000 to Kyari’s younger brother.
The police report also said Kyari equally funnelled N44mn into his sibling’s bank account in multiple transactions.
The AGF’s legal advice read in part, “That there exists prima facie case of conspiracy, collaboration, receipt, conversion, transfer and/or retention of proceeds of unlawful activities contrary to the provision of sections 15, 17 & 18 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2004 and Section 17 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, Cap E, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, against DCP Abba Kyari and other suspects in view of the overwhelming evidence showing the nature of his disguised financial transactions and activities with Abbas Hushpuppi, Efe Martins, Usman Ibrahim Waziri, Sikiru Adekoya, Hussaini Ala and Sharon Festus, who are all confirmed members of an international Internet fraud network.
“Although the facts and circumstances of this case as contained in the case file are suggestive to money laundering offences against DCP Abba Kyari and his accomplices namely: Abbas Hushpuppi, Efe Martins, Usman Ibrahim Waziri, Sikiru Adekoya, Hussaini Ala and Sharon Festus; to successfully prosecute them, there is a need for a more thorough dissecting and tracing of the suspected 33 proceeds of crime received by DCP Abba Kyari directly or indirectly through the said accomplices.”
However, Malami, in his latest advice contradicted his January directive that Kyari should be probed for money laundering and for receiving 33 proceeds of crime.
In a letter dated February 4, 2022, with reference number, DPPA/LA/814/21, the AGF sought to exonerate the embattled senior officer, saying there was no link between Kyari and the Hushpuppi gang.
According to the letter written on behalf of the AGF by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Abubakar, the evidence contained in the case diary “was not sufficient to indicate or show that the said monies (N279mn) were laundered directly or indirectly by Kyari to disguise their origin.”
The new position of the attorney-general was contained in a letter titled, ‘Re: Forwarding of the investigation report of the Nigeria Police Force Special Investigation Team and request for legal advice with regards to allegations of criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting Internet fraud, wire fraud, identity theft and money laundering against DCP Abba Kyari’.
The letter addressed to the IG, read in part, “I am directed to inform you that after a careful study of the said response wherein you stated that ‘the monies have been traced to Zenith Bank account no. 2255416115 belonging to Usman Ibrahim Waziri; Guaranty Trust Bank account no. 0130665392 belonging to Adekoya Sikiru; Zenith Bank account no. 2080537566 belonging to Hussein Ala and other funds went to Sharon Festus. The monies were withdrawn and utilised by the aforementioned account holders and the lady.
“It is our view that the above response has not linked the suspect, DCP Abba Kyari, to the offence of money laundering as the evidence contained in the case diary is not sufficient to indicate or show that the said monies were laundered directly or indirectly by Kyari to disguise their origin, more so that the aforementioned recipients or receivers exonerated him in their statements as having nothing to do with the monies.”
The justice minister said the police might wish to explore their internal disciplinary measures against Kyari through the Police Service Commission for breaching the code of conduct for law enforcement officers by hobnobbing with suspected fraudsters and people of questionable means in his capacity as a senior officer and head of the IRT.
Malami also said Kyari could be sanctioned for violating the social media policy of the police by responding to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s indictment on Facebook; breaching the Police Code of Professional Ethics by accepting complaints and acting on such without recourse to established protocol and detaining a suspect, Vincent Chibuzor, for over a month without a valid court order and regards to his fundamental human rights.
DPP blames police for not probing gaps in report
But the DPP said the AGF’s new position was based on the police report, noting that the police failed to probe the gaps identified in their investigation by the ministry.
Abubakar insisted that the ministry did not say there was no evidence of money laundering against Kyari.
The DPP stated, “We said in the absence of the evidence, further investigation is needed and they should go ahead to try him on the administrative offences they have identified. We said they (police) should establish linkages – the money trail.
“Instead of them to go and investigate further the gaps we identified, they didn’t. They just wrote back to say ‘check paragraphs so and so’. We are saying no, those paragraphs did not sufficiently establish the things we say you should establish.”
Meanwhile, the police have yet to submit a fresh report on Kyari as directed by the PSC.
The commission had rejected the police investigation on Kyari carried out by the SIP led by DIG Joseph Egbunike. It ordered a fresh one, which should have been submitted on February 25.
Despite establishing the fact that a total of N279.120mn flowed to the younger Kyari’s bank account at various times from the cyber scam syndicate members, the panel failed to invite or interrogate him.

okrote4real: STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE PRESIDENT BUHARI ASKS FOR ORDER IN APC President Muhammadu Buhari warns the leaders (and membership) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to desist from name-calling and backstabbing ahead of the oncoming March 26 Convention, remain steadfast and maintain its unity if the party is to continue in the path of victory and its dominance at all levels throughout the country. President Buhari asks the members to look at the once-powerful, ''main opposition'' Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now enfeebled and adrift and learn lessons in disunity, mismanagement and corruption. ''They failed in 16 years in power and a failure as opposition. ''Yes, we are entitled to our own share of dissent and intra-party discord. These are common in all parties, left and right all over the world. ''But parties splintered by competing egos destine themselves to the worst possible fate,'' the President warned. ''As the country prepares for the long run up to the 2023 presidential election, we all expect a robust debate on the issues that matter and what is going in the APC should be a reflection of this, not the infighting we are seeing. There must be no more distractions ahead of the convention to choose new leaders.'' He recalled that the APC started out with a confidence of victory and the party today enjoys that confidence in nearly two-thirds of our 36 states. Yet, he noted, this is a party that has been in existence barely for eight years, becoming the dominant party because it has thrown open its doors to defectors from other parties, big and small. This alone, addition to the fact ''we didn’t start on the note of arrogance of power, nor see government as a vehicle for self-aggrandizement, to be held at all costs, but a vehicle to bring development to all without discrimination-political, ethnic or regional to our dear country made this success possible.'' The party, he went on to note, is proud of the fact that in its short period of existence, it has won two general elections decisively and despite losing a few states in 2019, it steadfastly expanded its pan-Nigerian outlook with significant defections of the opposition Governors and parliamentarians into its fold. ''Given all that is at a stake, we can expect contests into offices as we are now faced with to be heated although candidates and their promoters for party offices are not so much debating policy differences but differences of management, personality, character, and suitability for the most important leadership roles in our country and therefore the continent.'' It is equally clear that over the last week or so, the internal management affairs of the APC have been afforded generous media coverage – over and above its importance to the voters of Nigeria. It is important to ask what benefits the poor are getting during the period of intense negative coverage. When precisely the party’s convention is held and who is the party’s chairman is hardly a matter for the average voter: vastly more important is who convention delegates will elect as the party’s flagbearer in the coming weeks to take forward the party’s platform to the people in the general election in February next year. It is therefore important for the media to put such matters into perspective. No one is debating policy differences here. That is for the general election. None of the declared aspirants and any of those that may step forward will change because of who may be in the party in the chairman’s seat. It is essentially the same party. Of course the media are welcome to comment on the content of the character of the potential APC candidates; discuss their suitability for leadership; scrutinize their offer to the membership. But to focus on the routine internal divisions and magnify them into what they have become today is a waste of everyone’s time, amounting to no more than a discussion over seating arrangements. This is not what Nigerians talk of in their communities. They have an inclination only for things that matter. Garba Shehu Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity) March 12, 2022 U pipu could not even read in between the lines as the lifeless doged the power tussle between Mai bala Buni and Abubakar Sani Bello I was expecting him to say categorically that Buni is still the chairman CCECPC, or to reprimand Mr. Sani Bello for causing unnecessary tension, if himself was not in the know of what is playing out. Politics › Re: How Gov. Sani Bello, Abdullahi Adamu And Others Plot For Tinubu Presidency! by Minime10(m): 11:58am On Mar 12, 2022 |
Bifam30: As the 2023 general election beckons, some hidden facts have emerged about how some notable Nigerian politicians, particularly in the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), are intensifying their political permutations, calculations, manipulations and arrangements to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerges the next Nigerian President even at the detriment of other party members and electorates in general.
Recall that just some days ago, Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, after presiding over a meeting of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, declared himself as the Acting National Chairman of APC, and added that he has the backing of President Muhammadu Buhari and other party members to do so.
However, a reliable source within the party revealed that Governor Sani Bello is being positioned purposely to ensure that presidential ambition of the former Lagos State governor and APC chieftain is fulfilled by all means in 2023.
Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello
According to the information gathered, Governor Sani's first assignment is to make sure that the former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, emerges the National Chairman of the APC in the March 26 national convention of the party, even against the wish of the majority including other notable aspirants.
It would be recalled that initially top aspirants for the national chairmanship position have been Tanko Al'Makura, George Akume, Ali Modu Sheriff, Isa Yugudu, Mohammed Sani-Musa, Kashim Shettima, Danjuma Goje, Abdulaziz Yari, Mohammed Saidu-Etsu and others. However, the source revealed that it is envisaged most of these aspirants will not be totally loyal and devoted to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's presidential aspiration, particularly as it concerns securing the party’s ticket.
Therefore, Senator Adamu who currently represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has been chosen as the right machinery to making Asiwaju gets automatic ticket of the party, and this is why Governor Sani has been allegedly mandated to manipulate the system and ensure that Adamu becomes the party national chairman.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu
Furthermore, the source disclosed that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised to make Governor Sani his running mate once the former is able to secure presidential ticket of the APC based on the arrangement on ground. If these allegations are true, then many will be disappointed in Governor Sani Bello of Niger State - someone many have described as a selfless leader who is ever driven by the will of the masses.
Also, it will mean that even in this century, Nigeria still has a very long way to go in leadership, politics and governance. It is quite unfortunate that while other countries keep advancing, we keep lagging behind. When are we are going to stop being governed by the "Arrangee Government" in our country? Like the late Fela Anikulapo had sung, "...Arrangee Government we dey o egba mi o, na padipadi government we dey ooo..." Apc zombee and bug shifting are like 5&6 Where were u when media report had it that Sinator Adamu is the preferred choice of your lifeless sai baba Not as if I care whatever becomes of the demonic apc party, but I hate when idiots begins to misdirect their frustrations to the main source because of cowardish |

The Russian Defence Ministry on Thursday announced that the US-funded biological labs located in Ukraine were conducting experiments with bat coronavirus samples.
"According to the documents, the American side planned to conduct work on pathogens of birds, bats, and reptiles in Ukraine in 2022, with a further transition to studying the possibility of carrying African swine fever and anthrax", chief spokesman for the Ministry of Defence Major General Igor Konashenkov said.
In addition, the facilities were studying the possible spread of pathogens via wild birds, migrating between Russia, Ukraine, and other countries in the region.
"The purpose of this - and other Pentagon-funded biological research in Ukraine, was to create a mechanism for the covert spread of deadly pathogens", he added.
The Russian Defence Ministry will soon publish the documents received from staff at the Ukrainian biolaboratories, as well as the results of their examination, Konashenkov said.
