Politics / Gov. Ortom Dumps APC by minke: 4:07pm On Jul 16, 2018
Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom at the banquet hall of the Government House in Makurdi on Monday announced that he is no longer with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ortom stated this while swearing in the newly appointed Special Adviser on Local Government and Cheftaincy Affairs, Jerome Torshimbe, disclosing that the APC had given him ‘red card’ to quit party.

Confirming the development to DAILYPOST on Monday, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, quoted the governor as saying that, “As for party, I’ve been given the red card and I’m now outside the pitch. So, if I have been given the red card and I’m standing outside, that means I’m a free man.”

DAILY POST recalls that Gov. Otom was considering dumping the APC.

The Governor is yet to disclose his new found political party, but has, however, noted that as soon as he makes up his mind in that regard, he would make it known to the Benue people.

“I don’t know what will happen next, but I’m waiting. If others approach me, then I will tell the Benue people that I’m joining another football club.”
He, therefore, called on the people of the state to remain united and not to allow party or ethnicity cause diversion among them, stressing that God who helped him to win in 2015 is well able to see him through in the coming general elections.

“Let party or ethnicity not divide us. I’m a child of destiny and it’s only God that will decide what I will be. These challenges that we see today, we shall see them no more. All that we are required to do is not to begin to be wayward in our conduct but to move to the righteous side of God. Once we do that, things will work out for our good.”

Awesome. Looks like some my learned colleagues have done the right thing again

Sadly, these are thhe set of people that will feel the backlash of these laws

So would you expect them to agree to a law that lets them pay more and stress more

The poor don't care cos they are busy arranging their rent for Mr Land lord (Last day of the month again)

So they cant even afford a their monthly rent not to talk of 1/8 plot of land.

In the end, it is this same poor that will bear the burden of this law. The landlord will simply add the extra charges to the rent.

I attended a state university in the south east. Even though I graduated with a modest grade, I must say the learning conditions were terrible back then.

A lot of things were wrong with the system and looking back, I can't help but wonder how I even made it.

Having my child attend that school is a capital NO for me.

Let's bare our minds and find out just how many people love their Alma mata.

Crime / Suspend Anti-grazing Law - IGP Idris Allegedly Tells Senate by minke: 6:51pm On Feb 02, 2018
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris during his meeting with a Senate committee on Friday, suggested that states with anti-grazing law be ordered to suspend the law until ranches can be provided for herdsmen.

Idris reportedly blamed the clashes between herdsmen and farmers on the anti-grazing law when he appeared in front of the senate on Friday.

A source of The Cable, who attended the meeting said the IGP claimed that 100 people have been arrested in connection with the killings in Benue state and suspects have been charged to court.

The source said: “He (IGP) said the anti-grazing law is the issue and that it should be stopped temporarily but brought back after the ranches have been put in place by the federal government.

Education / Re: Is It Legal To Take Two Undergraduate Courses Simultaneously? by minke: 7:52am On Jan 26, 2018
Although it may not be clearly stated in any of the rules for students in any Nigerian university, it is practically impossible for the following reasons:

1. Some schools require up to 80% attendance in class before you can take examinations in any course. if that is the case, how do you intend to garner 80% attendance in all the courses in the two programs you're running concurrently if they are both regular programs?

2. If you run the programs in the same university, examinations will definitely clash. If not in the same school, the movement from one school to another will definitely take it's toll on you.

The idea can only work if one of the programs is a part-time or weekend program.

Religion / Re: What Preachers Don't Tell You About Tithe And Offering by minke: 9:39am On Nov 12, 2017
mikejj:
will a man rob God?so sir who is a priest in our world today?

When the Old Testament was written, the new priesthood had not been established. The Jews were still under the priesthood of Aaron.
Religion / What Preachers Don't Tell You About Tithe And Offering by minke: 9:08am On Nov 12, 2017
CONCERNING TITHE:

1. The Levites were instructed to take tithe from the Israelites as their inheritance and we're not supposed to have any other inheritance (source of income) other the tithe they get. (numbers 18:24)

2. They were asked to pay their tithe to the priest from the tithe they collect from the Israelites. (numbers 18:26)

3. The Israelites gave tithe over a seven-year circle from the first to the sixth year. They did not tithe on the seventh year because they were not allowed to farm on the seventh year. (Exodus 23:10-11, Deuteronomy 14:22).

4. Because they used agricultural products as tithe, the never gave tithe on the Sabbath year (seventh year). Leviticus 25:3-4

5. The levitical tithe or first tithe is given yearly to the levites (Deuteronomy 14:22).

6. the tithe of feast to be eaten at a place chosen by God was done on the third and sixth year of the seven-year circle. This tithe was given to the strangers, the widows, the fatherless and the Levites to eat and be satisfied (Deuteronomy 14:28-29).

CONCERNING MALACHI 3:10

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Malachi 3:10

This scripture actually refers to priests not christians. the levites were instructed to pay tithe from the tithe they get to the priest who should be a descendant of Aaron (Numbers 18:25-29, Nehemiah 10:38). The priest will then take the tithe of tithe into the storehouse of God. But because the priests of those days were not taking the tithe to the storehouse of God, God was angry with them.

The warning actually started in Malachi 2:1
"And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you." - Malachi 2:1

and came down to the whole of Malachi 3.

Bring ye all the tithe into the storehouse refers to the priests because it is their duty to take the tithe into the storehouse of God (Nehemiah 10:38).

CONCERNING OFFERINGS:

The only offering acceptable To God is that which comes from a pure heart (Malachi 3:2-5).
In other words, sin makes your offering unpleasant to God.

Crime / 12 Helpful Hacks That May End Up Saving Your Life One Day by minke: 9:05am On Sep 29, 2017
As much as we love adventure and doing things that are out of our comfort zone, we always want to be safe. Regardless of how “risky” you are or if you love doing things that are dangerous, safety always comes first.

There are those who aren’t the biggest risk takers, and just love being in control of situations. These people want to do risky stuff but are just too scared of danger. Totally understandable. Some may call them boring others call it smart.

But whether you are out on vacation or lazying around the house, you always want to make sure that you’re safe. Here are 13 hacks that could probably save your life one day!

1. Always follow your instinct. That may seem like an obvious one, but let’s be real here, a lot of the times we don’t do this.

When something feels wrong, your body is telling you that danger is not too far. A lot of the time, people fail to follow their instincts.

2. If a stranger ever gets into your car and tells you to drive, there’s one thing that you can do. Drive your car into a post.

That way you’ll not only be able to go anywhere, you draw attention to the situation and the person will want to get away pretty fast.

3. Knowing a bit of self-defence, in general, is always helpful. But for those of us who don’t know much about fighting, there’s one trick that always works if attacked.

Go straight for the attacker’s groin area. This will stop them right away and will give you a bit of time to get out and run to get help.

4. Generally, people feel pretty safe driving in a cab. But of course, there’s always that possibility that something can go wrong.

If you find that your driver is acting a little strange, quickly make a call to someone telling them your location. That way the driver knows you have a phone and people know your whereabouts.

5. Never walk downstairs with your hands in your pockets. It sounds a little paranoid but if you trip, you need your hands to save yourself from getting hurt.

6. If you’re staying in a hotel room, it’s a good idea to put rolled up tissue over the toilet. No matter how clean it looks to you.

7. Swimming in the ocean can generally be dangerous, especially if you’re swimming in a riptide. Swim parallel to the shore if this happens. It’s the most efficient way to get back to shore.

8. If you ever find yourself trapped in a burning building, don’t run out. Get down to the floor and start crawling. According to MensXP, there’s more oxygen down there and you won’t pass out.

9. If you’re going to a parking lot alone at night, walk with your keys in your hands. That way you can get into the vehicle quickly and drive off.

10. More and more of us are walking and texting at the same time. Don’t do this when you’re walking in the street. You become an easy target.

11. If you decide to go for a hike or something, there’s a chance you could get lost. If this happens, first find water and shelter. Those are two important things for survival.

12. Keeping your keys by your bedside table is smart. If someone were to ever break into your home, just press the panic button to set off your alarm in the car.

of course the US won't endorse such a rash and irrational decision of the Nigerian government because the US is known for respect for Human Rights.

While I'm not an advocate of secession, it is within the rights of the people to call for independence. it is not right to tag them terrorists because they no longer wish to be Nigerians.

It's the reason the southeast will never get anything from the government through the legislative process. the system is highly skewed in favour of the North.

The northwest has twenty one senators while the south east has fifteen. It's the same reason the northeast development commission bill went through while the one for the southeast didn't see the light of the day.

We need to restructure this country.
