I think you are correct, looking at this table 37,701+12, 570= 50,271 which is the salary threshold for 5-year settlement:
hyzich:
Your taxable income is all your gross income earned.

But they don't have to pay through their nose, right?

ReesheesuKnack:
15 Years.

Don’t ask me whether after 15 years, the new Nigerian Citizen has all the rights and privileges of a Nigerian INDIGENE.

True but the 2006 changes also followed a consultation and debates and votes in both houses of parliament. It sounds like the govt is tracking a similar path.
The consultation period will allow them put flesh on the bones of the settlement proposal such as establishing the criteria for fast track settlement.
'Under a new framework to be rolled out high-skilled, high-contributing individuals who play by the rules and contribute to the economy and society would be fast-tracked, such as nurses, doctors, engineers and AI leaders.'

Be warned, it is 82 pages long, full of political bluster, and incredibly boring, you may need to read it thoroughly to find answers to your questions.
I am not sure what they mean by this, will some people qualify earlier than 10 years?

"Through the expansion of the Point-Based System, individuals will also
have the opportunity to reduce the qualifying period based on Points-Based
contributions to the UK economy and society. We will consult on these
changes later this year." Pg 69.

Imagine using the Ukraine route, by people from Gaza..... 😂🇺🇦
The full reading of the judgement reveals that a family of six had sought permission to live with a British relative who was able to financially support them - and part of their case had been that they were political opponents of Hamas, which is banned in the UK under terrorism laws.

Their initial application had been incorrectly made using a form reserved to help Ukrainian families reunite - but they eventually won permission to stay from a judge under entirely separate general human rights considerations that allow families to reunite, particularly where they are at risk of harm.

This should be dependent on the value of the property, not just for those earning 100k.

I got a mortgage as a sole earner on a salary less than 100k from Barclays also on a skilled worker visa and 10% deposit.

Dont rely on what the bank brokers tell you, get a broker from the open market, they are more resourceful and effective at getting mortgages for people.
Barclays is more lenient with visa holders. We also got from them. 100K was also a requirement for someone I know who applied with Halifax.

100k per annum is their criteria ?
Yes, only applies to Halifax for visa holders.

Good afternoon everyone, am about to start my mortgage process so I reached out to my bank Lloyd bank and they insist their mortgage criteria is ILR and I’m just 2years here. Can I be advised how to go about this please, I am heartbroken.
Go to Barclays OR Halifax (If you (+ your partner) earn up to 100k a year)

Have not said students are not resident, there is an option on that same website, that’s give students option of an international driving permit.
I dont get your point BUT that thingy we call IDP in Nigeria is considered fake here. Well, you must have original and valid Nigerian License to obtain IDP in the first place, it expires once your license expire.

You’ve sha passed now. Congratulations and safe driving.
Lol, we both saw it o. I argued with him after the test, his excuse was that we pressed the break at the same time. The funny thing is I drove over 45 mins after the incident.

Thanks for the congratulations grin

Time to switch to automatic......... Save your left leg, from unnecessary stress......... 🤣😂
I've loved manual cars since moving to the UK o (maybe because there is no traffic), the pleasure of pressing clutch gives innner peace grin but auto is definitely the way to go later...

I'd advise anyone without UK license ( or original Nigerian license within 12 Months in the UK) not to drive as you've always hammered. My friend was caught driving after a year in the UK before he got his license, he was slammed 9 points on his new license plus almost 1k fine.

I sha passed my driving test today at 3rd attempt even though I had a perfect score in my theory, it's a different ball game driving with a stranger with eyes on you(failed the last one 30 seconds into the test which was really unfair, guess the examiner was having a bad day).

Wish all going through this phase well deserved favour!

I heard about someone who got a job as a BA and quit in a few months because they couldn’t cope. They said that all the meetings they attended sounded like jargons to them. There are too many so called experts selling short courses and bootcamps that is not a true picture of the real world setting. They are just selling theoretical templates and not practical work which takes a while to master.
Unless one is super smart, it will be very difficult to cope in a fast paced environment using knowledge gained from those BA/PM/DA short courses. I'd advise such people to look for job in the Civil Service first, gain some experince before moving to the private sector.

Good afternoon my people, please can anyone recommend a cheaper car insurance company for holders of international driving license?

The price I'm getting from this comparison websites is killing. The cheapest is charging me 320quids a month ( go girl)
How big is your car engine? How many litres?

Cars of 1-1.4litres shouldn't be up to that, even on international license

I never thought I would say this but I can’t wait to retire and move to Nigeria. I never had that mentality until I visited and thought wow we are slaving here in the UK. If you have your money, you have a property in Nigeria then am pretty sure you are better off after slaving here working for many years, my pension years would be spent in Nigeria in Jesus name!
You know not what you say.

May you never 'witness' Nigeria in Jesus name.

Write them a letter by post and email, with your tenancy agreement to show that there’s no business activity going on at least the best they can do is to reduce the vat from 20% to 5%. Tell them you are disputing the bill, that way you can’t incur any additional charges. Is the council tax business rate as well?

Thank you so much for your advice, I dragged the so-called energy supplier to ombudsman as advised.
I stopped calling and started writing!!!...
I received a backdated/updated bill today, reducing my energy bills from over £1,000 to about £200

They were indirectly begging me and facilitated by exit to a domestic supplier, giving an option to be with them till 18th April while placing me on the lowest tariff possible, cheaper than domestic energy suppliers sef, lol.

Thank you again!

You should check Insurance and Road Tax for any car you are buying too. Old cars tend to have higher premiums I suppose.

Once you head down the writing route, they act more with sense .........

Because they know if it ends up in court/mediation, you would have enough evidence to present...........

Aside writing, also take photos and videos (where necessary)....... wink
This seems to be working o... fingers crossed!

Elders,

I got a new apartment, moved in on January 7th this year (Band C, 2bed). The apartment was previously a business property before it was bought and renovated by my Landlord but still reads a business address on Royal Mail, I contacted RM for an update and they referred me to the address and numbering dept at the local council for the update which is being worked on. My Landlord equally said he has made all documentation to effect the change.

I called the gas and energy (OPUS - they provide energy for only for businesses) provider immediately I moved in to inform them the address is now a residential address and no more commercial property so I can move to another provider, they promised to do the update anytime I called which made me feel at peace.

The problem came in today... I got the gas and energy bill for about 20 days and it is over 600 pounds!

I contacted the energy company and they said I have been billed as a commercial property because they could not update my address due to the fact that Royal Mail still states the address as a commercial property.

The meter readings are accurate.

I carried my Landlord along all through.

What can I do? Ki ni kin se?

Thank you.
