It's not just common with your baby. Some other babies also have closer gaps in their fontanelles. A wider gap makes it easier for the fontanelle to pulsate, and u'd feel it when u touch the fontanelle. A closer gap won't give a significant pulse, since the bones of the skull are closer. But then, it's quite normal. There's nothing to worry about.

Well, the fontanelle is an anatomical feature on the skull of an infant. It's a membranous gap that allows the skull to flex or stretch. The essence of the fontanelle is to facilitate the head of the fetus to pass thru the cervix easily during birth. Later on, the gaps begin to close in and sucture. In the case of ur baby, though u neva specified her age, i think her fontanelle has almost closed up. It's nothing to worry about though. How old is she?

she's just two weeks 5 days old....and I've not for once seen it pulsate....I googled it up and saw something called Craniosynostosis...I hope dis is not d case for my baby?

Hello drs , good morning pls advice a worried first time mother, all my life the babies I've seen av soft spots ( fontanel) that throb/ pulsate, but the reverse is the case for my baby , I only feel it pulsating a little when I touch it.....but I can't see it at all....Pls wats d cause?

MY BIRTH STORY....
On Sun, Nov 8th 2015, I woke up with severe stomach pain, I visited the loo, emptied my bladder and wiped off with tissue, lo and behold I saw mucus tinged with blood, I told myself now is the time after waiting for more Dan 41 weeks, I began to prepare myself physically, mentally, spiritually for the activities ahead of me cos it was my first time....
Fast forward to after church's service, I told DH 2 allow my go to the hospital, as I already started having mild contractions, DH asked me to wait for a yle until contractions gets stronger, not satisfied with him , I decided to call his friend whc happens to be the Dr who took my delivery, he spoke wt him and asked me to head straight down as it was my first experience...
Few mins later, I got to d hospital, at 4:00pm,and was checked, my cervix was still closed, @ about 6:00pm mad, severe contraction began and I began to sing songs of worship instead of groaning or crying, it went like that until some few mins later when one of the nurses came to break my water,
Proceeding to 6:00 am on Monday, I was still madly in labour, Dr said my b.p was high and was loosing strength cos I vomitted at a point in time, I was given drip and It continued like DAT until 7:54 when I began to feel great pressure on the front of my Vjay, and at that time I became silent and was enduring the pains inwardly, the contractions came again and I began to push unknowingly to me, It was Dh who saw the baby's head and then screamed for the attention of the nurses, she came pushed her head bk and took me to the delivery room, she episiotomized me ooooo, (imagine my baby isn't big ooo, just 3.0kg) am sure if I had pushed on my own wouldn't av had tears......
To cut D story short, after the cuts, in just one push, my bundle of joy cried out
''YES I MADE IT'''..... ...

Yesterday Sunday,8th Nov 2015 was our wedding anniversary,
Today Monday, 9th Nov 2015, its the arrival of our Bundle of Joy, A
beautiful, Bouncing, Baby Girl @ 41wks+ 5 days, weighing 3.1kg, although it was with tears but thank God it ended with praise.....And Truly The Lord has been Good to
Us Always........Birth story later, but I just hope I remember all that happened....

As I talk to U I'm presently in Cynthiajay's shoes.....I was scheduled for an induction process on Wednesday( 41 wks old) but I decided not to go, and will be chilling till i'm 42 weeks , if I've got no sign still then I can go ahead with it......
Lest I forget, A nurse suggested that I shld take castor oil, but having read the side effects , I decided to dump the idea....but really I'm worried as per FTM.

I have stopped kpekusing, I have stopped pineappleing, I have stopped walking! I just sit at home all day with my earpiece plugged in and shutting everyone out!!
My mums and hubby are now very concerned for me they fear I might harm myself but I am okay just having coldfeet I guess

@Firstymum- others on October list are Nov mamas Wey dey eye October (except for missope which I'm nt sure of). These October mamas are da bomb!!!! As dem plenty reach they no port.

I'm kuku one of the October mothers.....cos using my LMP , edd should have been Oct 28, First scan (Dating) gave me Oct 31, later scans gave me different dates like Oct 16, Oct 22 et al, I'm beginning to get worried cos I've up till now not seen any show except for occasional mild contractions......
I've done d pineapple thingy, nipple Stimulation, frequent sex and exercise but none of those seem to work...
I"m praying and hoping for the best though.

N.B I just noticed this burning sensation around my vagina, it itches and thus making me uncomfortable although it isn't accompanied with any thick or smelly discharge, pls wat medication can I use to curtail this?

So my BS....since I yamm unlike some ppl who hold BS till forever

I had 3 EDDs.....25th(from LMP), 27th( fro week 18 scan) and 29th( from week 38 scan). I had faith in the 25th cos it fell on a weekend and it was nearest.
I had a previous CS and my Drs wanted me to have a repeat. I was hoping and praying for a VBAC( Vaginal Birth After Ceasarean) cos I just wanted to experience the whole water breaking....phases/ stages of labour, mucus plug removal, pushing ....etc.
I watched Videos on YouTube tire.
I was counselled to have a repeat CS by the Dr at 38 weeks but I turned it down. They all said my baby was big at 3.4kg +/-400g. I insisted on VBAC and they let me be.
But there was a condition....I couldnt go beyond 40 weeks.
On 23rd, I was having mild contractions, on and off. .painless so I wanted to augment with castor oil since it was surer than pineapple therapy buh on reading up, I found out that if your cervix was not ripe and ready...it would fail. So I rushed to a neighbourhood nurse to check me and she was like I was not dilating and my cervix was still closed. That was on 23rd o....I was so crestfallen that I didnt eat or play around that night. I was so sober. The nurse discouraged me from using castor oil or inducing myself cos my cervix was not ready at all.
I woke up on 24th by 4.30 with painful contractions! I timed it....10 minutes apart...lasting 30 seconds... regular.... yippee! I was in labour....
By 2.30pm...the pain was getting more intense...so I told husby to drive me down to the hospital. I was checked and told I was just 2cm...after 10hrs of contraction o....
By now I was disappointed....no mucus plug....no water breaking . Only pains.

Watch out for Part2 drama....Dr and nurses wan die for my hand.... + God showed just how awesome and miraculous He truly is
