Dancing senator and Davido's uncle, loses his seat in the senate

Dancing senator and uncle of popular singer Davido, Ademola Adeleke, has lost his seat in the senate. In a keenly contested election last Saturday, APC's Engr Lere Oriolowo, won the Osun West Senatorial District election.



Adeleke was not on the ballot box because he contested in the last governorship election in the state.



According to INEC, Engr Oriolowo polled a total of 102,147 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Lere Oyewumi who scored 97,294 votes. Prince Dotun Babayemi of the African Democratic Party (ADP), came third with 42,915.

Former Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, has lost his senatorial bid.

Uduaghan who was the governor of Delta state from 2007 to 2015, contested for the Delta South Senatorial district but he however lost to the incumbent Senator, James Manager.

According to the INEC returning officer, Professor Oladipupo Adesina, who announced the result, said Manager polled 258,812 votes to win Uduaghan who garnered 125,776 votes.

James Manager will be going to the Senate for the 5th time. He was elected senator in 2003 and has won every election since then making him one of the longest serving senator in the coming Senate.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Oluwashinaayomi Peller, the winner of the Iseyin/ Itesiwaju/ Iwajowa and Kajola Federal Constituency seat in Oyo State.

INEC’s returning officer, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun, who declared the result, said Peller polled a total of 44,088 votes to beat PDP’s Najeemdeen Oyedeji, who polled 31,336.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate and federal lawmaker, Olasupo Abiodun, who was elected in 2015 on the platform of the APC, came third in the contest with 12,309 votes. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that there was wild jubilation at the collation centre after the returning officer announced Peller as the winner. NAN also reports that Peller is the son of the late popular magician, Prof. Peller and also the boss of Club Quilox. (NAN)

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to immediately announce results as delivered from the polling units and declare it’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the winner of the February 23 Presidential election.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary And Director, Media & Publicity PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP also alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, are plotting to alter the election results as they strickle in.

According to the party, “Our position is predicated on clear and verifiable results across the nation, showing that Atiku Abubakar is in clear lead both in spread and total number of votes cast. Intelligence available to us is that INEC is delaying the announcement of results following directives by the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC), which are bent on altering the figures from the polling centers and allocate fictitious figures for President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly in northern states.

Curiously, INEC server is now shut down, results are no more being transmitted and the reason is to enable the APC to inflate figures from six designated states. We call on international observers and election monitors to insist on a transparent process of transmission of results and the monitoring thereof. We already have reports of how APC governors in the northern states have been making desperate effort to tamper with the results of the elections in their respective states with the view to award conjured votes to President Buhari.

In Kogi state, Governor Yahaya Bello has been making frantic moves to change results to suit APC’s intent and purposes as against the wishes of the people, expressly delivered at the polls. Nigerians already know how the Minister of Transportation and the Director-General of the Buhari Campaign, Rotimi Amaechi, used the military to hold an INEC official in River state, Mrs. Mary Efeturi, hostage and insisted that she will not be released until she alters the results in favour of President Buhari The PDP calls on INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to note that in this age of Information Communication Technology, Nigerians already have the results as delivered at the polling centers and any attempt to alter any figure will be faced with vehement resistance. In delaying the announcement of the results, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu is allowing the APC to turn him into a villain and directly pitching him against the people.

He should therefore extricate himself from the rejected APC and be on the side of the people, by immediately announcing the results as already delivered at the polling units and declare, the people’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the winner. Anything short of this is not acceptable to Nigerians, who had already expressed their wishes and aspiration at the polls.”

Vice president Yemi Osinbajo lost his polling unit in Victoria Garden City to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP. In the result announced minutes 00.20 am on Sunday, the PDP won in the two voting points of the Polling Unit 033.

For the presidential election, the PDP polled 425 votes while the APC had 229.

The PDP had 414 votes in the senatorial election, while the APC had 261.

For the House of Representatives election, the PDP had 268 while the APC came third with 190 votes. Musician-turned politician, Olubankole Wellington, Banky W came second at the unit with 212 votes. Elections started in the polling unit at 10:30 a.m. and the last voter cast his vote at exactly 7 p.m.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, defeated President Muhammadu Buhari at the polling center of the Presidential Villa, Abuja

There are two polling units in the presidential villa including PU 021 and PU 022.

The PDP scored a total of 1,030 in the two units at the center while the APC got a total of 1,013 at the units. The breakdown of the results shows that for PU 021, the PDP garnered 505 while the APC got 548, whereas, for PU 022, the PDP polled 525 against APC’s 465. Recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan as a sitting President lost elections at the State House Polling Units.

APC wins at Dambazau’s polling unit in Kano.Also the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has won the elections at the polling unit of Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen Abdurrahman Dambazau. Dambazau’s polling unit 066 is located at Race Course Primary School, Alu Avenue in Nasarawa local government area. Announcing the results of the 066 polling unit, the Assistant presiding Officer I of the unit, Malam Kabiru Musa, said the Presidential Candidate of APC scored 180 votes to defeat PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who got 41 votes. Similarly he said, the Senatorial candidate of the APC for Kano Central, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, scored 136 votes to defeat the PDP Senatorial candidate for the zone, Aliyu Sani Madawakin gini who secured 69 votes. According to the electoral officer, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had also defeated the PDP candidate for the House of Representatives, Nasarawa Federal constituency with 123 votes against 61 votes. As at the time of filling this reports, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was leading at most of the polling units that have so far announced the results in Kano metropolis.

President Muhammadu Buhari has defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party at his polling unit.

Wild jubilation broke out following the announcement that Mr Buhari scored 186 votes to defeat Mr Abubakar. Mr Abubakar’s loyalists were quick to play up the figure as a remarkable showing for their candidate, despite its closeness, saying the unit has been historically won by Mr Buhari, who has stood in every presidential election since 2003.

The results from Mr Abubakar’s polling unit are amongst some of the early returns trickling in from across the country in today’s presidential and federal parliamentary elections.

In ward G, Olowora, Koshofe Lga, Ketu, Lagos state, while APC poll 78 votes, PDP polled 59 votes. In Abia senatorial polls, for Abia north, while PDP polled 15 votes, APC polled- 154 votes.
In Plateau state, at PU 023, Janta Adamu ward, Hill Station Junction, Jos north LGA, while APC polled 7 votes, PDP polled 34 votes.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu has warned Biafrans against voting for the All Progressives Congress, APC, at today’s presidential election.

A father and his seven-month-old daughter were shot and killed in their bed in a suspected hit murder in South Africa on Wednesday.

Siyabulela Vena, 40, was shot multiple times and his daughter Asesakhe was shot more than twice, while they were lying in bed in their Soweto-on-Sea, Zwide, home.

Little Asesakhe was lying between Vena and his 32-year-old girlfriend, who managed to escape unscathed.

While the motive for the brutal murders remains unclear, police have confirmed that it was most likely a targeted hit. Vena’s girlfriend is not being named by police for her protection.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said the attack happened at about 10.20pm on Wednesday, when the couple had just got into bed.

“According to the girlfriend, they were lying in bed when a lone gunman kicked open the front door and just started shooting. He (Vena) was shot in the upper body while lying on the bed and their young child was also killed. At the time, and in a panic, the girlfriend said she pulled the blanket over her head. Sometime during the shooting a second man entered the room and it is unclear if he was also shooting,” Beetge said.

“The two men then ran out of the house. Nothing appears to have been stolen during the incident.”

Beetge said the motive for the killings had not yet been established.

“At this stage, we simply do not know what the motive is. The detectives are questioning everyone in the hope of establishing a motive,” he said.

Police were alerted shortly after the shooting. Forensic experts spent several hours canvassing the area for clues and retrieving spent bullet casings found inside the house.

On Thursday morning, Motherwell cluster commander General-Dawie Rabie personally went to the house to oversee the police investigations at the crime scene.
Rabie condemned the callous killings, while pleading with residents to come forward with any information.

“We need residents or anyone with information to come forward," Rabie said.
"We need to see these culprits stopped and put behind bars. A young child has died because of these killers and we need to find them. The community needs to come forward so that our detectives can pursue all avenues of motives.”

Rabie said the case was being investigated by members of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigation Unit – who were also looking into the other hit murders.

On Sunday, Akhona Josah, 26, was shot dead inside his house in Cambridge Road, Veeplaas. Three men barged into the house demanding to talk to Josah after knocking on the door. Josah was then shot multiple times inside the house before the suspects fled on foot.

Nine others are Vuyani Ndike, 40, Themba Makalima, 25, Sabelo Ngquphe, 30, Baba Ningi, 48, Nkululeko Gcakasi, 44, Pamela Ngamlana, 27, Marina Ntamo, 37, Ludwe Papu, 42, and James Pietersen, 42.

Osmond Eweka, a member of the Benin royal family who was in 2018 arrested with his co-defendant, Kamel McKay for scamming 250 job seekers and raking in thousands of dollars from their unsuspecting victims has been served with a no-jail sentence.



The 31-year-old appeared at the Manhattan Supreme Court where he was given a no-jail sentence, known in legal parlance as a conditional discharge.



According to NY Post, he previously copped to two counts of scheme to defraud and paid $50,000 in restitution as part of the sweetheart plea deal struck in December with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.



“Mr. Eweka chose to do what was best for his family and his newborn son,” said his lawyer, Thomas Kenniff. “He is pleased with the court’s decision to sentence him without jail time and now looks forward to resuming a law-abiding life.”



His co-defendant, Kamel McKay, pleaded guilty to the same charges in exchange for one year in jail.



The defendants allegedly targeted job seekers on indeed.com, promising to find them work, including as front-desk receptionists and hotel housekeepers, in exchange for a fee of between $300 and $700, court records show.



After interviewing the victims and collecting their fee, the alleged fraudsters would send them to work sites, where they were turned away by employers who weren’t expecting them. The confused job seekers were then unable to get in touch with Eweka, McKay or their bogus employment agencies.



The duo pocketed $54,000 in fees and didn’t provide a single job, according to prosecutors.

Eweka, who married an attorney in 2016 in an elaborate wedding ceremony in Nigeria, allegedly operated the bogus employment agency scam out of an Empire State Building office under the alias Sean Jackson.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is considering a postponement of this year’s entrance examination into higher institutions.

The board also announced a postponement of the mock examination earlier scheduled for February 23.

The postponement of the mock examination is due to the presidential and parliamentary elections which will hold the same day. The elections were postponed from February 16. State elections were also postponed from March 2 to 9.

No new date has been fixed for the mock examination.

Also on the official jamb registration portal for 2019 exams the closing date for registration has been shifted from today Thursday 21st February to Monday 25th February. All those who haven't registered but want to sit for the exams should do so before 25th February or wait to next year.
