i saw on tv the way bankole was laughing in efcc custody ,showing no sign of remorse,and i came to the conclusion that our leaders dont have respect for us at all,they know they can do and undo, they if at worst they are found guilty ,they would go to a jail cell that looks like and hotel room,or they can even feign sickness like our madam ibru,and after they are done,they are celebrated and everything turns normal,they keep the loot and they are still relevant in the society. so i came to the conclusion that perhaps financial crimes and corruption in general should carry a death sentence like in china  since in my opinion,its worse than murder.

for example,a minister of health embezzles money meant to improve our halt sector,Pol end up dying cos of it,that's indirect murder in my books,what do you guys think?

Well,as you have rightly pointed out,our OBJ n bankole being from the SW didnt make us gain anything(and it isnt as if i was expecting anything special cos they are yoruba,because i look at merit,nt ethnicity),

but have the other regions who have had leaders in top positions gained anything at all?are the roads in the north paved in gold,is there 24hrs electricity,are their hospitals world class?you have just decided to be economical with the truth,WHAT EXACTLY DOES DO REGIONS GAIN BY HAVING POSITIONS APART FROM THE JUST MERE NONSENSICAL BRAGGING,

Now at OP,how can we be celebrating the availability of petrol in an oil rich country like nigeria?and the fact that it is only petrol that is available makes it worse,are we daft or something.

Okay,fine petrol dey,wetin happen to kerosine,diesel n cooking gas.just yesterday,i went t6 the filling station to get kerosine,and they were charging 180.now tell me how in a nation where about 40 to 50% live below 2 dollars per day can afford that.diesel was a NO NO too,cos they were charging 150 and it wasnt even readily available.i hope say we no dey craze for this country sha.we seem to think we are niger or chad where dey av nothing under the ground.

I no get light since may 29 and i live in ikorodu near Egbin Power Station,but we no dey get lyk,i nw wonder hw ppl in ketu ,ibafo,mowe live.

The way I see it, it is in our best interest to know who is doing what exactly, where, how much, so we are best able to measure development at the end of the day. If we give credit where credit is not due, we will only be deceiving our own selves at the end of the day. We have money alloted/budgeted for different things each year, and up to this day, we continue to ask where all the money is. Not until we start keeping better account, will we ever be able to get past this corrupt period we have remained in for a while now.

The alumni rebuilding projects can be traced back to the Adopt-a-public-school scheme put in place by the then Oby Ekwesilii, who only served as minister of education for a year. From that program, some schools/alumnis have organized and pooled resources together to help rebuild their alma mater. This particular school happens to be one of the lucky schools with such a program. There have definitely been efforts by companies to rebuild some of our schools(funds coming, in most cases, 100% from the pockets of these companies -- no state involvement), and this is good, but we, as people, should not then blindly give credit for these efforts to our politicians who will definitely gain from such praise. I say this because we do our own selves an injustice when we do so. In this case, I would that we praise the companies, and the alumni associations involved, so more and more people awaken to the part they can play in helping tackle our problems(even as we struggle with getting our politicians to get to working more for us).

Ok so fine, maybe we dont support GEJ being in power (I personally would have wanted Buhari) but the truth of the matter is that he is there. There is nothing we can do about it. He is the president, lets deal with it. I believe we are seeking the good of the nation as a whole and not jus talkin based on personal hate/dislike for a person or party. Now if we are really looking out for the best interest of this nation, then I dont see why praying for the guy is too much to do.

He might not be the person we wanted but we should still pray that God gives him the wisdom to lead this nation aright. day 1:

Me i wont lie,as much as i like fashola,i would also criticise him when needed.

The maintenance of some of these buses has been my worry since last year.i think some of these buses need maintenance especially body work wise(both interior n exterior)e.g some of these buses' handles for standing passengers need replacement n paint job.i dont think i av boarded any brt with engine problems.

I know there is a mechanic plant for BRT,but more work is needed.i have always suggested the goverment employing some of these touts to wash n clean these brt buses on a daily bases and also employ the graduates from the state's youth vocational centres (d mechanics,welders n painters among them) to take care of the BRT buses thereby tackling the maintenance n some of the unemployment issues with one stone.

BUT I WOULD GIVE HIM KUDOS FOR MAINTAINING THE BRT LANES AND BRT BUS STOPS.

Thats is my two cents.

Is Birch Freeman High School a public school?  I know Birch Freeman High School is Fashola's Alma mater and I know the school's alumni has been contributing to refurbishing the school for years( You can find them online and on facebook to learn of how much they have done so far), but I am not aware that the school is a public school as well.

Making this thread about fashola is your only mistake. It should bf addressed to all our leaders but especially the over-hyped one. Fashola issues raise a lot of emotions with battle line drawn branding all his critics as haters, and thereby your one mistake is making this thread about fashola as darinka issues raise a lot of unnecessary emotions on nl. Make it about our leaders generally. Many of them think that development is measured on the glitz and glamour of multibillion dollar projects only. I raised the issue of the UN Indices of development which are close to what you are saying here on another thread but it was dismissed by those who should know better as only for developed countries. Lol. If you can generalise this subject, it may be quite helpful for nl but on the other hand, it might be DOA as it appears that only contentious topics were folks find expression for their tribal supremacism and ventillate their personal and family frustrations thrive most here.
