hi guys

my wife finished her program from Northumbria in September but they've not sent her the link to apply for the post-study visa

what can we do please

visa is expiring in january
You shouldn't be in a hurry to apply for PSW. You should be hustling right now to get a sponsored role. PSW should be the last option if no job materialises and you can apply very close to your student visa expiry.
Actually now is a good time for job seekers as companies plan and start recruiting for the new year..

Best place will be Lewes, Worthing, Haywards Heath or Crawley. You can get direct train or bus from those places to Brighton and is less than 45mins driving.
Thanks. Any idea/favourites for good infant and primary schools among all of these?

Hove, Burgess Hill or even Preston Park is really calm when compared to Brighton. Brighton, having 2 Universities has made the axis quite expensive. However you may end up coming into Brighton for activities.
Thanks, I was hoping not to go down south too much..looking for halfway between London and Brighton.... Crawley (and maybe Haywards heath) looking promising ..

Anyone in (or know about) Brighton and Hove area? I'm considering taking an offer there.
Which are the best commuter towns close the area? I feel like Brighton is touristy and being by the sea will likely be crowded and expensive...
It's a hybrid role so not particularly worried about distance, but looking at keeping it under 30 to 45mins drive.
I'm looking for calm residential areas with good schools and good links for transportation, leisure and shopping, etc. (And fair rental prices lipsrsealed grin)

Any insight or tips will be appreciated smiley

Should be 45k minimum.

Since sponsorship is priority, Take it but be on the look out for better offers(with sponsorship) and switch sponsors.
Nope, he should negotiate first and get their best offer before settling. Always push the bar, that is one thing I learnt years back. If you don't ask, you don't get.
If he gets in like that and his peers are paid more, it will be demoralising.
At worst, they will say it is firm and he will accept it like that.

My Surname is Consistent in all documents. I guess I would go ahead with the application then.
Get a "one and the same person" affidavit as well and within the affidavit state the correct order of the names.

Nope. They still have 5 years to go before ILR. This is BRP with a permanent job (non medical/shortage list). So Visa fee per person was £1,423 before you add IHS for 5 years. Multiply by 4.

Na wa! I hope they won't have to pay IHS again if they need to switch sponsor..

Removing PSW after many arrived here hoping to get one? This is exactly what they did in 2012 and a lot of students missed out.

This is going to be an unfair treatment.
I would expect the law will apply to new intakes..everyone already in should still be entitled.

No, I am not speaking from a privileged position. Na who I be kwa?
Anyways, enough said. If you have all the money in this world to pay for your 1 or 2 years’ rent upfront, please do you.
Seems a lot of folks are in this shoe and are mortified to hear someone speak of their concerns in such ways and not pat them on the back

You are not talking from priviledge but rather from ignorance

Such individuals are only feeding their greedy appetite when they pay such money.
The individual was not properly advised or just acting like a ‘money-miss-Road’. No insult intended please.
In some areas, that’s mortgage deposit faa!!

You are talking from your secure housing...wait until you are in that position where you are homeless in foreign, cold (literally) and unfriendly land and have no other hope of getting approved to rent any place including one room..

They do/will.
The idea is a bit uncomfortable but I believe it is doable. What you need to confirm is the cut off age, I didn't know a 3yr old can travel unaccompanied...

So they require you have the practical knowledge of it, not necessarily the certification. However, the Scrum Master certification would go a long way. Just learn about all the Artifacts and buzz words of Agile and what they entail. You can also get the free Jira plan to practice with as a lot of tech companies use Jira and Azure DevOps. Also, to streamline your knowledge of Agile and to reduce too many questions during the interview, just tell them that the organisation you worked with tailored the Agile methodology to suit their process and then list a few of the Agile buzz words and how it was tailored. Also if you haven’t worked in Software development, it’s a bit unrealistic for them to expect you to know about core Agile. Finally, at the end of the day, whichever company you join, it’ll take some time to adjust into their process regardless of the methodologies they use on their projects.

Regarding the Global talent Visa, that’s also my target. Because that PSW no be am. Also curious to know if anyone applied and successfully got an endorsement.

Got it, thanks

I like ILX, although I got a discount for mine.
https://www.ilxgroup.com/uk/individual/training/prince2-agile/foundation-practitioner-with-exam/online?gclid=CjwKCAjw7eSZBhB8EiwA60kCW2fcy9W30n5jTYbxrW9DDK2Y9mEgTfro1X23LhYQEi34uzcB2ohx-xoCOL0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Why Prince2 Agile though? To be honest, I don’t see a lot of companies requiring one to have a Prince2 Agile certification as they are a lot more bothered about you having practical knowledge of the Agile methodology (Even though some of them don’t know really practice it, they just throw the word Agile around a lot) they would rather you have either one of these certifications: Prince 2 Foundation or Practitioner, PMP, Scrum Master, CAPM or CPM, Lean Six Sigma or ITIL for the tech companies. But please don’t quote me, as Prince 2 Agile might be good enough. So do what’s best for you.

Also, this is unsolicited but if you can, join a profession body like PMI (Project Management Institute) or APM (Association for Project Management). Not necessary but it can be advantageous as some companies also require this and you get access to various beneficial materials and networking events.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Part of my challenge is also deciding on agile or not, though I have seen that some companies especially tech require agile, the majority do not like you rightly observed.

Bring on all the "unsolicited" pls..I think that suggestion is a good point.

On another note, has anyone successfully (or not) applied for a global talent visa?
I've been contacted time and again by recruiters but mainly for contract roles with very good pay and I'm really looking to get out of the Tier 2 restrictions .. undecided

Guys please I have a question...

I was just looking through the scale up visa rules on gov.uk and I saw where it said you can leave your employer after the first six months and you can renew without a sponsor for a further 3 Yr period...

It wasn't clear to me if you can leave to any category of employer or if it must be another scale up company..someone pls share more informed insight pls and thanks

Omo I’m emotionally downcast, even to find an instructor in my town is an extreme sport. Thanks a lot, I’ll do some research on the release date for appointments.
Release date is Monday mornings about 6am or so. Book an instructor then speak to him about getting closer dates, they sometimes are able to help.
There is a website too that sells test dates in different locations , but they don't hv a lot of variety/choices and you hv to keep checking for updates. driving test slots dot com

Those 5 years rules for adult not children ... once both parents get settled status, you can apply and the child or children get settled status as well even if the child never had visa but child must be under 18 if never had visa

I know one of two people that had kids in UK and to save cost never put their child on a visa until after ILR
Got it, thanks.

When it time to apply for indefinite, for the adult they would count number of days stayed and should be 5 years for working visa and no more than 180 days away ...however for kids all you need is just do their visa. They don't even need to be in UK for less say 5 years. Once the parent get they get ....

Quote from home office guidelines

Dependant children are not subject to limits on absences
While dependent children are not subject to the rule on absence, can they get ILR if they have only had their visa for less than 5 years?

Hello everyone, I have a pending application at the home office since May, however, my passport got expired before I could get a decision. I have applied for a new passport. Please, does anyone know how I can contact the home office within UK to update them of the issue?
They will probably contact you during processing to submit current passport details.

Hello Everyone,

I saw an advert for a flat on Facebook Market place.
I sent a msg through Facebook market place and the person replied that I should send a mail.

I forwarded a mail and the response was that I can't view the apartment until I have completed a booking and payment with Airbnb who he said would take charge of the Rental process on his behalf.

I just want to know if anyone had gone through this process and hope I am not being scammed.

Thanks for your response.
