hustla: Nawa. Plenty wahala for this Waka No wahala there o. If they don't ask, don't mention until late stage or offer even. While it may be disappointing for you if they then refuse, interview experiences are needed to hone your skills for future interviews, so it isn't a complete waste of time. |

mimilyrics: Really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I changed jobs 3ce last year within the NHS with the 1st job starting in January and the 4th one in December - the 1st 3 were with the same Trust and department at 3 different bands while the 4th was with a different one at 1 band lower. Got 2 other offers and about 9 interview invites within the same week that I got the offer from the new Trust.
My manager at the new Trust told me that she didn't see me in the role after the 1st year because she felt that with my skills, I'd either be aiming higher or getting headhunted for other roles. By March this year (3 months at the new Trust), I had an unconditional offer 2 bands up from my previous Trust. At the same time, I also had another offer from my current Trust but in a different department. My current manager and I have discussed my prospects for other roles and I'm currently exploring training and 7.5-14-hour secondment opportunities in different departments with my manager's approval.
Once you know what you want, map out a plan for it. My manager knew all about my moves and was quite supportive but not all managers will be like that so you need to weigh your options on keeping or not keeping your manager in the loop. You don't need an excuse to leave a job but ensure that you don't burn your bridges as you might need to drive over them again. I'd also say that you need to weigh your options vis-a-vis work visa sponsorship. If you go for a work-visa sponsorship, you might not be able to change jobs as many times as you want except you go for a scale-up visa. I'm liking this. This is a strategy I recently decided to adopt - I mean the job changing. I am naturally very "loyal" and also not necessarily motivated by money, I have taken pay cuts to be in a role that I prefered... If I enjoy my work and I like the culture and I'm respected, then I can stay put for a long while in one company. Recently I got a new manager at work and the dude who at the point knew little about the work/product started questioning my work and made some very unjustified disparaging remarks...I was quite shocked. I always put in my best and never in my whole life has my output been unsatisfactory. I just imagined that this human can wake up and give me a bad performance review and I'll be asked to leave., this is how they will stain my white .. That weekend, I edited my CV (and kept updating/tweaking it almost weekly ) and started some courses I had been procrastinating. Within a month I had a number of interviews scheduled and accepted an offer (Lesson here for me is that once you have that UK experience you lacked initially, you will become more appealing in the market, so for those saying sponsorship limits you to one employer...I say only if you let it) Also I quietly quit - I never take my laptop home again....I used to come in up to 30mins before official time and stay late to finish up sometimes....now I walk in like other ppl by 9 or 9.15 sef and 4.50pm I pack my bag...no time I have never called in sick...I plan to be sick next week or upper, afterall everyone is coughing amd sneezing I realised that I achieved a lot in 6 weeks because I was angry, now I want that to be my default status - always "angry" and looking for the next best thing and putting needs first. If I may ask, why did you move to a lower band? |

hustla: How? Someone on student visa has few few options though
I doubt it would make sense to finish the interview process and then get rejected at the end when it comes up Nope. You should make them want you enough to then agree to sponsor. And you can only get that opportunity during interview. |

I'm interested in reading your serial job change story.
I'd like to think I'm a serial job changer as well. An employer once saw my CV and called me "a rolling stone" during the interview. He said he knew I'd leave them soon. Three months down the line I left.
Exploring new territories and roles is always exciting. 3 months!! Baba! So will you put that short stint on your CV? |

Zimzee: Good people, I am currently on a student visa, my visa is expiring in Jan. I got a job with a care home that promised to sponsor when I finished school. I finished school in September and informed them, they told me they applied for more COS allocation from home office as they have exhausted what they had but haven't heard back from them, one week ran into 10weeks, they feedback was still the same ....they haven't heard back from home office.
Then, I got a mail last week from the home to send in all my details so they can apply for my COS, as home office has responded that the application will be considered on case by case basis. It's been 9 days since I forwarded my details( passport number, full name, status of current visa, date of birth).
1) Please does it look like I will have COS soon? 2) Do you know how long it takes home office to issue cos? 3) Should I relax because I am really worried? What do you guys make of this story? My advise is; pretend you don't have an offer and keep hunting for other jobs. There are lots of other/better opportunities out there, so keep trying while waiting. |

so tired abeg Don't let it discourage you, it is the same for most ppl initially, it just takes one positive response to change the entire story. So keep going at it, there are many employers who will sponsor without issues. |

Happyfellow147: Hello everyone,
Is there a deadline to when one can apply for pswp? If dependant got sponsorship that was later withdrawn, can main applicant still go back to apply for pswp? Deadline is the day your student visa expires. So if it has already expired, you can't apply again. |

I have read through the conditions and this isn't expressly stated or forbidden... |

June232022: hi guys
my wife finished her program from Northumbria in September but they've not sent her the link to apply for the post-study visa
what can we do please
visa is expiring in january You shouldn't be in a hurry to apply for PSW. You should be hustling right now to get a sponsored role. PSW should be the last option if no job materialises and you can apply very close to your student visa expiry. Actually now is a good time for job seekers as companies plan and start recruiting for the new year.. |

Crawley (and maybe Haywards heath) looking promising .. |

Anyone in (or know about) Brighton and Hove area? I'm considering taking an offer there. Which are the best commuter towns close the area? I feel like Brighton is touristy and being by the sea will likely be crowded and expensive... It's a hybrid role so not particularly worried about distance, but looking at keeping it under 30 to 45mins drive. I'm looking for calm residential areas with good schools and good links for transportation, leisure and shopping, etc. (And fair rental prices ) Any insight or tips will be appreciated |

rayralph: Should be 45k minimum.
Since sponsorship is priority, Take it but be on the look out for better offers(with sponsorship) and switch sponsors. Nope, he should negotiate first and get their best offer before settling. Always push the bar, that is one thing I learnt years back. If you don't ask, you don't get. If he gets in like that and his peers are paid more, it will be demoralising. At worst, they will say it is firm and he will accept it like that. |

Mamatukwas: Nope. They still have 5 years to go before ILR. This is BRP with a permanent job (non medical/shortage list). So Visa fee per person was £1,423 before you add IHS for 5 years. Multiply by 4. Na wa! I hope they won't have to pay IHS again if they need to switch sponsor.. |

Amarathripple0: So they require you have the practical knowledge of it, not necessarily the certification. However, the Scrum Master certification would go a long way. Just learn about all the Artifacts and buzz words of Agile and what they entail. You can also get the free Jira plan to practice with as a lot of tech companies use Jira and Azure DevOps. Also, to streamline your knowledge of Agile and to reduce too many questions during the interview, just tell them that the organisation you worked with tailored the Agile methodology to suit their process and then list a few of the Agile buzz words and how it was tailored. Also if you haven’t worked in Software development, it’s a bit unrealistic for them to expect you to know about core Agile. Finally, at the end of the day, whichever company you join, it’ll take some time to adjust into their process regardless of the methodologies they use on their projects.
Regarding the Global talent Visa, that’s also my target. Because that PSW no be am. Also curious to know if anyone applied and successfully got an endorsement. Got it, thanks |

Amarathripple0: I like ILX, although I got a discount for mine. https://www.ilxgroup.com/uk/individual/training/prince2-agile/foundation-practitioner-with-exam/online?gclid=CjwKCAjw7eSZBhB8EiwA60kCW2fcy9W30n5jTYbxrW9DDK2Y9mEgTfro1X23LhYQEi34uzcB2ohx-xoCOL0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Why Prince2 Agile though? To be honest, I don’t see a lot of companies requiring one to have a Prince2 Agile certification as they are a lot more bothered about you having practical knowledge of the Agile methodology (Even though some of them don’t know really practice it, they just throw the word Agile around a lot) they would rather you have either one of these certifications: Prince 2 Foundation or Practitioner, PMP, Scrum Master, CAPM or CPM, Lean Six Sigma or ITIL for the tech companies. But please don’t quote me, as Prince 2 Agile might be good enough. So do what’s best for you.
Also, this is unsolicited but if you can, join a profession body like PMI (Project Management Institute) or APM (Association for Project Management). Not necessary but it can be advantageous as some companies also require this and you get access to various beneficial materials and networking events. Thanks for the recommendation. Part of my challenge is also deciding on agile or not, though I have seen that some companies especially tech require agile, the majority do not like you rightly observed. Bring on all the "unsolicited" pls..I think that suggestion is a good point. On another note, has anyone successfully (or not) applied for a global talent visa? I've been contacted time and again by recruiters but mainly for contract roles with very good pay and I'm really looking to get out of the Tier 2 restrictions .. |
