Please when did you receive decision mail with priority?

I am thinking of withdrawing my application and reapply to pay for priority service. My standard application to switch from t4 to Skilled Worker Visa is now over 6 months
Actually decision mail was 3 weeks, BRP came in about 3-4 days later

Who used the new ukvi ID app to change their visa status, from student to the skilled worker visa, did you receive your BRP upon successful application, if you did, how long did it take? If not, how can one travel put of UK and back without a physical proof?

Justwise, and anyone with experience.

Lexusgs430
I did, got BRP after 3 weeks even though I paid for priority.. You are instructed not to travel out whilst the application is being processed. Not sure if there is a way around it...

I just checked again at the London center and available dates are from 31 October or is it my network that is causing this?

How did you see the September abeg?

I called them to enquire about Saturdays but they said it's for certain types of visa of which my visa category is not among

Hmm ok, I applied for "longterm visitor". yesterday I tried changing my date, there were many available slots from around 7th Sept. If I were you, if you are travelling solo, it is worth applying for a visit visa which you can then use later.
It won't cost much to do this, you can make a new application tonight. get on booking.com and get a free cancellation accommodation, buy your travel insurance online, gather other supporting docs which they will list for you and you are good to go.

Thanks so much. I already booked the Airfrance round trip ticket to Nigeria before I realized I'd need the transit visa.

The worst aspect is that I contacted the embassy and tried getting a transit visa from them but the available appointment dates are from October 20th but my journey is in first week of October.

If I cancel the flight, I will get tax refunds and not the full fare.

I'm trying to see if I can get a Schengen visa from one of the easiest countries to get one but my fear is that the visa may still not be ready till first week of October.

Na real one chance I enter so embarassed

There are available dates from 1st week of September in the London center, they also do Saturdays I believe. So maybe you can travel down if possible.

Insurance companies have invalidated people’s insurance where they’ve found them to be driving unaccompanied with a provisional license.
The matter seems to be a grey area but it’d seem in most cases the rule is “your provisional, trumps and nullifies your Nigerian license”.
You might want to dig into it, if you haven’t already done so.
Even when the insurance was taken out on the international license?

hmmn, with the lack of dates for testing...what can one do. Provincial license only?
Provisional license with its many conditions will limit you, you can drive anywhere without another experienced driver in the car...
Get an instructor and they may be able to help. Once I felt ready to test, I told mine and he got me a date in about 10 days for 210pounds including the test fee.

Unfortunately there seems to be a racket going on in the background, ppl are cancelling and selling their test dates..etc. The instructors have groups where they communicate and (I suspect dvla staff as well) sell closer dates to willing buyers.
I suspect dvla staff are involved because when I booked my test initially after some weeks, I got a mail saying my date had been changed to an even later date because my driving instructor won't be available for the earlier date I got! I never included any instructor details in my submission. So that makes me believe they are involved and selling both willing and unwilling candidates' dates.

Gosh this is incredible! Thank you so much. This makes a lot of sense

Yes it is! I utilised it well, before taking my test. Got really comfortable on the roads before paying for driving instructor sessions.

Serious enquire here, I’ve heard people say that your Nigerian license is valid for one year counting from the day you enter the UK. I went up on the website and it says we can drive for 1 year and then apply for a license. I’m not sure if I’m reading the information incorrectly. I want to get a car ASAP so I can start getting acquainted with driving on the left hand side and I have till September before my "12 months" is up, that’s if the former is correct. Based on the attached, does it mean that it’s valid for 1 year of you driving or? I don’t even understand.

It means you can drive legally for 1 year from the date of your entry before you are required to have a UK license. So you can go ahead and buy a car now. It will actually help you get familiar on your own terms.
But by September when you clock 1 year, you must acquire a local license in order to drive legally.

You see for you to be in this UK and thrive, you have to grow thick skin. You don't have to cower. Your wife is eligible for the student visa extension to enable her write her exam and get her result. Don't assume things, let her write to her department and faculty that she'd be retaking the module and would be needing a visa extension. Hear what they'd say first and take it up from them. I mean you paid huge amount of money for tuition, don't allow them take you for a ride even though you failed a course, that's the purpose of learning anyways.

As an aside, you(not your wife) can start applying for a course as a plan B. Let this option not be your main focus though.

Very good advice! We are used to letting go and just accepting in Nija, Always stand for your right here! Put things in writing always and have records of any communication.

Also @original poster, I do hope your "hustling", includes aiming at sponsored jobs, January is still a long way off and you can still accomplish this.

Your response is appreciated. I'm an automated tester for a living. I'm looking to spend £150,000 on a home. I'm by myself. I require a residence similar to the one I currently possess. A minimum of a three-bedroom home with a backyard garden.

Since I don't have access to credit in the UK and don't have the patience to wait for one to develop before purchasing, I'm going cash only. Additionally, it will make things easier to handle because I'll still be okay even if I'm unable to find employment in my industry and am forced to accept any position.

I think your first step should be to secure a job, then get a house and not the other way round with post Brexit.
It is the job (or school) that will bring you in first before you even think of accommodation options.

So best focus on getting a sponsored job in your field or outside of it , every other thing will follow naturally.

I'm just curious here why you detest a nation where you have a home, a good job and seemingly at "peace"....you must have had some negative experience(s) to warrant upping and going.

I think that IOM sends people there when they overflow.

I'm not sure you can just walk in there and use it for UK visa purposes

You can book directly just like IOM. The two are the only approved centers and they are separate entities.

For visa purposes, yes.
Nope, there should be a second center in V.I, a private travel clinic set up, but it is usually just as busy as IOM.

Good point.

Scotland is very socialist and I am actually strongly considering moving to Scotland (both I and my wife are remote with only a couple of days in the office) for some better quality of living in a place like Aberdeen, maybe Dundee, the "free" prescriptions, university education and bus transport for children (I've no problem with the higher taxes), but only as long as Nicola is fully aware that her independence talk should be nothing more than "ogboju" to extract more money from the UK government/maintain the amount it already gets. Otherwise Scotland is not financially viable and all the benefits of living there as opposed to England will end overnight if it ever gains independence.
Interesting, what is the criteria for free university education?

Yes you can, but make sure you have a L plate plastered to your car, and someone that has a full UK licence for over 3 years sits next to you when you drive. You can or have to change the Nigerian licence over to a provisional one after some time though.
I don't think these rules apply to the intl license, only to the provisional.

Oh woow… anyone else has any inputs please ?
I believe I quoted you sometime earlier about this. ....
Yes, I travelled to Nigeria this Q2 with a passport that was already expired.( I don't have another passport either). The immigration officer at the airport commented on it, and I responded straightfaced (don't give chance for rubbish) and she asked me to go to another officer who then signed on the passport and asked me to ensure I get a new one.
...... I got a new one issued before I could come back to the UK.
Basically you can go home with an expired passport, but you can't come back out with it.

How much did u pay to get it and how long?

It took 3 weeks.( Don't count on it though,I know someone who has been waiting for 2 months too.)

My point was that you can travel with your current passport which is still valid.

Is renewal fast here in the UK? I have heard of people getting delayed in London and I don't want the renewal to affect my trip in August

I travelled with an already expired passport 2 months back. I just made sure to get a new one before coming back in.

Just a fair assumption made based on the person who posted it, a former CIO at different NHS trusts.

Oh I see.
That was a pretty good temp opportunity advertised by a connection on LinkedIn. There was no Web address info that came with it.

If your first marriage was legally conducted then you need to go for divorce before applying for your current wife and kids . As it stands you are still married to your ex wife and that is what is in your immigration file.

I hope you still have enough time to go through this process and apply for them on time for PSW?

He can proceed without a divorce cert, people are allowed to marry multiple wives, just not in court or church...

If you did not, you are fine. If you did, your way out is going to be tougher...

Does becoming his dependant means I forfeit my Post study Work permit??

Is it a better option for me to switch to being his dependant considering everything?
Yes, you will forfeit it but being his dependent is better because you can get your ILR after 5 years. PSW does not count towards the 5 year route.

Wow, wish I knew this 4 weeks ago..

I am surprised there are no priority services via vfs.

Meanwhile, has anyone been able to get a refund from UKVI for priority service that was not honored?
Reaching them is so difficult, it is frustrating.
