TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by mizGene(f): 1:01pm On Oct 24, 2023
TMJO:
I got into Houston on the 4th of august and I declared I was here to have my baby even though I wasn’t asked purpose of visiting. I was asked how I’d be paying for the birth of my baby, where I’ll be staying and how much money I had on me.
There were no questions about change of intent letter or anything close. Although I had tried to send a change of intent a couple of times prior to my trip but never got a response.
Hi,

Pls can you share the email address you used? 😇..

The best way to go although I will suggest three years. You only have to pay the extra IHS for one year. The visa fee is same
It gives you an extra one year to plan well and just two years before you are eligible for ILR.
Yes, you are right. 3yrs makes the most sense

Thank you Viruses.
Sponsorship is priority. However, I would balk at committing to a company for 5 years because I believe there will be better opportunities and also considering the financial visa app implications.

I would ask comp A to reduce COS to 2 years and give financial burden as reason, I think any reasonable employer should allow this. That way you get on the ILR journey asap without having to spend so much, and you can move companies later without feeling like you have wasted funds.

I don't understand what you mean by carehome and how it's relevant in this topic? My argument is that flogging and beating a child is not the definition of disciplining. There is a whole lot to parenting and training a child than just beating, and there are more productive way to discipline a child.

Teenagers don't join gang because their parents didn't discipline them. One major factor that influence this is the socio-economic background, even neighborhood with high gang related crimes are low-income neighborhood, the same is also true in Nigeria. If you go to urban slums in Nigeria or any poor neighborhood, the rate of teenage crime is unprecedented both children of pastors that grew up under constant beating/flogging they will simply outgrow the beating and show you shege.

I don't have the data about how unruly teenagers in UK are, but I have seen 1st hand how teenagers in Nigeria can be unquestionably corrupt and evil. You might not have witnessed it if you live or grow in middle-income neighborhood.

I so much would've love to use myself as an example, but I still be nobody. one day when I'm finally successful and accomplish, I will write a book about the darkness I lived through. How I grew up habouring a princely inner darkness. Bought my 1st gun (a Russian mini Beretta 2.5mm) at the age of 16, almost got convicted by age 24 despite growing up in a very religious home under strict upbringing.
"princely inner darkness".... Omo!
I'm rooting for you to write that book, we need to know what made you that way and what made you change. Maybe it will help others out there.

I’m sorry this is wrong info, you can do your dropbox here. My family friend got hers done here in March and it was granted, her first American visa was in given in Nigeria.
For B1/B2? Interesting.. I was deemed ineligible for that reason when I tried back in Feb.

I guess so... You can only do Dropbox in the country you had previous visa issued in.

Please does anyone know how to go about renewing a US B1/B2 visa in the UK via drop box? Thank you
If you got your last visa in Nija, you can't "Dropbox" here. You will need to go through the interview process again.

Well they will only send msgs to whatever email you used for your application. So if you got a msg via that mail, it is the same one you have definitely used to apply and you can try to use it to recover your details, abi I'm missing somethinghuh

It depends on how much time you still have on your visa and also the mood of the Border Agent you meet on arrival. They may not let you in If you have less than 2 months.
I really don't think anyone will stop one from coming in with a visa that is still valid.

Good day sirs/mas

Please I need your assistance.

I have UK Global talent visa and I have collected my BRP card which is still valid until 2026. But I have stayed 8months on a stretch outside the UK. Will I still be allowed to enter the UK?

I'm aware I cannot count the year towards ILR application in the future. I just want to know if I will be allowed to enter the UK and not denied at the port of entry

Kindly assist.

Thank you
Yes you will be allowed. Also you may still be able to apply for ILR with it depending on if the 8 months absence overlaps two years. The year count starts from the month you got the visa (not January to Dec) from what I understand of the guidelines I saw recently.
@All, Can anyone with lived experience confirm this?

@Aphrodite007, @Lagosismyhome, @heroshark.

Thank you for bringing up this convo about PSV and everything you said is valid. However, there are many layers to it and I have questions
@aphrodite007 - are these people getting good jobs, but not with sponsorship or they are not getting jobs at all?  I asked because there were so many jobs and not enough people to do it as of January and that dwindled as the fin year ended.  If they had a "good enough" job, and performing why would any sensible HR let them go knowing they would spend more to backfill the role?

As an aside, on the issue of "big boys" in Nigeria - sometimes 'big boy' can make things clumsy. I saw the CV of two of my husband's friends - I wouldn't interview them with that CV tbh. They had loads of experience and had everything on their CVs. I got a headache from reading the 4 pages CV. CV got revamped, one got a job 2 weeks after and the other has been getting calls and now interviewing.'

@heroshark raised some valid points about upskilling, preparedness etc. There are lot of students around me and many of them got sponsorship whilst my brother is in a care job. A lady whom I accommodated interviewed with a lot of big firms but didn't pass their interviews. We all know there is a lot to interviews beyond skills. From day one, she knew what she wanted and went for it - it was a matter of time. She eventually got sponsored by NHS.

Whilst I am helping other people rewrite cvs, prep for interviews, upskill and motivate them, I have never seen my brother's cv or heard him say he has an interview somewhere. Even though he studied a lucrative course - add a bit of Excel proficiency, and SQL for beginners, the guy will be hotcake but I have realised not everyone is driven.

I told a guy to send me his cv and portfolio so I can refer him to recruiters especially the ones interested in black/minorities. The guy hasn't come back till date.

I have met people who got sponsored jobs before they finished uni. I can go on and on.

There is luck/grace and whatnot but there is something the 5% are doing that the 95% are not doing. I have seen it over and over again. It takes dedication and grit and not everyone has it. I may be wrong - happy to learn because the tuition fee my brother paid still dey pepper me.
Wish I could give your post a thousand likes... I really get that part where someone close is just blind to their potential and available people/resources to leverage. Very frustrating....

The applicant is current on vacation in UK, and he is planning to apply online and do the biometrics in UK. He is not due back until July 2023.

How to answer this question correctly?

Question: What is your current country/territory of residence? If you are presently in Canada, you should select Canada?

What will the answer be? Nigeria or UK
Nigeria

You're right, the talks of rent being (almost) the same as mortgage payment was before. Now the difference is clear.

But if it's affordable, mortgage is good.
Aren't the landlords passing on the cost to tenants?

You are correct in this regard, but when you claim you don’t know anyone in the country and you’re only visiting for 7 days but have two big bags full of clothes, that might call for a secondary check. You might be lucky to pass through without any issue, but this not a good thing to do.

This is one of the reasons most of our people are being turned back at London's Heathrow airport.
I hope you realise you pass through immigration and border control first without your luggage?
Your luggage will only be pulled in if you already are picked for secondary inspection.
