Glory to God.
Have you accepted the salvation of Christ? If no, then you should. I wont prescribe any prayer to you. Just believe that he saves and has saved you. Believe that he took the blame for your shortcomings, suffered and died for you to be justified.
Then proceed to know more about your new found love by studying God's word. You can start with any book of the bible. Though I'll suggest Colossians in the New testament.
God uphold you brother. It's gonna be a nice ride, I promise. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Oh! Christian, Are You Saying God Forsake Jesus? by MizyB(f): 5:28pm On Apr 04, 2016 |
Its Long but only for inquiring minds! "Nashatani" AND NOT "sabachthani", is the Aramaic word for Hebrew's "azabtani", which in Psalms 22:1 is the translated English word "forsaken" For whose benefit there, did Jesus, in Aramaic utter those words? Who were listening, who there could have understood the language He uttered and who there was the message in that utterance for? Jesus doesnt speak impetuously, like David did, with "forsaken me" in Psalms 22:1 It just isnt at all part of any of Jesus' m.o - previous post end - I asked the above questions, because no matter how much any dying person has talked in life, the final words of most dying persons in life seems to command that little extra respect, as listeners pay special attention to the last words of a dying person, Most people' last words are very profound, and Jesus' is no exception to this. Jesus as a dying man hung on a cross, uttered the below famous seven dying last words 1) Luke 23:34 - Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do. 2) Luke 23:43 - Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise. 3) John 19:26–27 - Woman, behold your son. Son Behold your mother. 4) Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34 - My God, My God, (this bit is blanked out, to be revealed later) 5) John 19:28 - I thirst. 6) John 19:30 - It is finished (or "It is accomplished'') 7) Luke 23:46 - Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. After reading Matthew 27:46 or Matthew 27:50 and then reading Mark 15:34 or Mark 15:37 would ask: "What were those Jesus' last words on the cross not explicitly mentioned in Matthew 27:50 and Mark 15:37?" Well of courtesy of John 19:30 and Luke 23:46, we know what the last words, which were not explicitly mentioned in Matthew 27:50 and Mark 15:37 are Syncan, if you keep, "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani", (i.e. Matthew 27:46 and Matthew 27:50) in the mind, and also keep "it is finished" or "it is accomplished" together with "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" in mind too (i.e. Matthew 27:50 or Mark 15:37 with John 19:30 and Luke 23:46) then there is a good chance of understanding what Jesus Christ actually said with "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani" (i.e. My God, My God, (the continuing bit here is blanked out, to be revealed later)) and also know what He was saying and was doing with those last dying words. As previously hinted above "Sabachthani" is a homonym and it apart from meaning "forsaken or abandoned", it also means "to keep or kept", "to allow" or "to permit" The final words of most dying persons are very important, and last words of such dying people, are usually filled with messages for certain people, last wishes, final requests, final blessings, special instructions, cryptic messages (e.g. Jesus switching to Aramaic with "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani'') etcetera The dying last four words of Jesus were: 4) Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34 - My God, My God, (this bit is blanked out, to be revealed later) 5) John 19:28 - I thirst. 6) John 19:30 - It is finished (or "It is accomplished'') 7) Luke 23:46 - Father, into your hands I commit my spirit The first of the last four words were for the benefit of the disciples, which is why it was spoken in Aramaic (e.g. "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani'') The last two words are self explanatory and makes everthing else fall into place once the proper translation of the "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani" is done. "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani" means: "My God, My God, this is why You kept me" or "My God, My God, this is My destiny" or "My God, My God, this is what You permitted" or "My God, My God, this is what You allowed" So we have "My God, My God, this is why You kept me"; "It is finished (or "It is accomplished'') and then "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" Jesus for the benefit of the disciples uttered in Aramaic the purpose (i.e. the reason all those things were happening, the reason why He was created or the reason why He came to exist) He then after declaring that the purpose (i.e. the process for salvation) is finished or accomplished excused Himself with the "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" last word Jesus chose His word very carefully and didnt speak impetuously when He used "Eli, Eli, lama, Sabachthani" He actually was paraphrasing the begining of Psalm 22 (i.e. Psalm 22:1) just like He paraphrased the end of Psalm 22 (i.e Psalm 22:31) There are a bunch of other scriptures and messianic psalms Jesus paraphrases. Paul Peter et al also display this behaviour Jesus deliberating DID NOT quote Psalms 22:1 verbatim or directly but consciously changed or switched language and used the Aramaic "sabachthani"

MuttleyLaff: And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. - 1 Kings 21:23
30Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she put on eye makeup, arranged her hair and looked out of a window. 31As Jehu entered the gate, she asked, “Have you come in peace, you Zimri, you murderer of your master?” 32He looked up at the window and called out, “Who is on my side? Who?” Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. 33“Throw her down!” Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot. 34Jehu went in and ate and drank. “Take care of that cursed woman,” he said, “and bury her, for she was a king’s daughter.” 35But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands. 36They went back and told Jehu, who said, “This is the word of the Lord that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel’s flesh. 37Jezebel’s body will be like dung on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, ‘This is Jezebel.’ ” 2 Kings 9:30-37
Why didn't or couldn't the dogs eat Jezebel's hands, head and feet? Keeping in mind, this is Calvary/Easter period, what is the spiritual significance and/or spiritual parallel in the Bible? They nailed Christ's hand and feet to the cross too. On his head was a crown made of thorn- my spiritual parallel. Spiritual significance- I don't know sir. |

MuttleyLaff: With all due respects to both of you, IMHO, there is nothing like recharging there however is something akin to ''''staying plugged in'' to the Source'''' ''Staying plugged in'' to the Source, allows the continue flowing of the current of the Holy Spirit from the Source to recipients for infilling
Believers dont recharge, but stay plugged in to the Source, even with full bar on charge displaying
Believers are on 24/7 charging, they ought to never unplug but remain connected ever charging and receiving from the Mains, as much flowing current they are able and capable to receive. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak The Holy Spirit is willing, to give as much as one can handle but it is either faith or the flesh, at times which when weak that holds one back Believers are to fill in the Holy Spirit oversize shoes and suit with the current ever flowing from the Mains they are plugged and connected to
''Quenching the spirit'' happens when the plug is pulled, is another of my IMHO as pulling the plug prevents the Holy Spirit from happening or continuing flowing from Source to fill up recipients
There are certain things we do (e.g. Samson and King Saul to name just two), which pulls the plug and ultimately quenches the Spirit
11Do not banish me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. 12Restore the joy of Your salvation to me, and give me a willing spirit - Psalm 51:11-12
There are at least two ingredients for keeping possession of Holy Spirit, they are: 1) God's presence - Remaining or staying in God's presence 2) Willing spirit - Having a willing spirit
The lack of 1 and 2 undermines the Holy Spirit and causes a total loss of it (i.e. quenches it)
The loss of the Holy Spirit, is clear or obvious to the trained eye, mind or observer and the loss might manifest in two ways: 1) Instant total loss - total loss of Holy Spirit happening or coming immediately 2) Gradual loss - loss taking place slowly with a lingering residual Holy Spirit
Samson in Judges 16:20 and King Saul in 1 Samuel 16:14, are two examples of where, when the plug is pulled, the Spirit effectively is quenched and there is ''Total loss of the Holy Spirit'' Samson and King Saul, are also examples of the active resistance against God's work, and also persistent rebellion/sin getting the Spirit quenched vooks talked about
Gradual loss, where loss of the Holy Spirit can take place slowly with a lingering residual Holy Spirit, occurs in society today among believers, known as yesterday's man
We all know that one of the characteristics of a plugged in and switched on electric iron is heat (i.e. it gets hot or have high temperatures) it also is known that, a just finished used iron, remains hot for a while even though it's being switched off and unplugged from the electic socket.
The Holy Spirit and believers, to a certain degree, are somewhat like the electric current flowing through the cable making a plugged in and switched on electric iron hot. - The Holy Spirit is the electric current flowing through the cable and the believer is the electric iron
Now the reason for this lingering post, is merely to touch on that kind of believer tagged ''yesterday's man'' and the connection with Gradual loss (i.e. loss taking place slowly with a lingering residual Holy Spirit)
The ''Yesterday's man'' believers, are like, a just used iron, switched off and unplugged from the electic socket but remaining hot due to residual heat The Holy Spirit has been quenched and stopped flowing into the ''yesterday's man'' believer but the ''yesterday's man'' believer, to some degrees, even after the switch off and unplugging from the Source, remains still ''hot'' due to the lingering residual ''heat'' Holy Spirit
Most ''yesterday's man'' believer, dont know the Holy Spirit has been quenched because they are still showing the characteristics of the Holy Spirit, as in that lingering residual ''heat'' Holy Spirit
When the lingering residual ''heat'' Holy Spirit is finally and totally lost, then some of the ''yesterday's man'' believers turn to making unholy alliances with dark forces and/or undesirable spiritual entities to save face
The gullible and easily influenced who dont know about the ''yesterday's man'' believer's total loss of the Holy Spirit and the fake one replacing the original are easily deceived by it this would be in context with John 15;1-8? |

vooks: Hi MizyB, interesting question right there. Quenching the Spirit is expressly forbidden in 1 Thess 5:19. Quenching means extinguish, put out. This to me means obstructing or disparaging His work in men like spiritual gifts, or even conviction over sin. Failure to recharge to me does not lead to this, it simply keeps you in the SAME level of faith and experience with God. Recharging moves you higher.
When the disciples recharged, they did not receive additional spiritual gifts or manifestations; they were just emboldened to witness. They received boldness which was hitherto lacking in most. So I would say recharging also helps in confronting new challenges in our walk in Spirit.
What in my opinion causes 'loss of the Spirit' or bankruptcy of authentic Spirit experience in our lives is active resistance against His work, and also persistent rebellion/sin God bless you sir |

Obviously from your reply you have not given any cogent way of knowing that a tongues is gibberish. If you say because someone does not interpret is tongues then he is speaking gibberish then am sorry to say you wrong..
Apostle Paul just encouraged us to avoid speaking in tongues in the church without interpretation cause the Church is not been edifed by it.. Now that been said.. I would like us to know that
1. Baptism of the holy ghost is not 1 plus 1
2. No body can tell me a man is a saying gibberish based on the kind of tongues he speaks except the holy spirit tells you so. And the only evidence my Bible tells me that a man is filled with the holy spirit is speaking in tongues.
3. Everyone's encounter with God is different, So you can't compare how God works with you with how he does with another man
4. That a man does not remember his encounter with God on how he speaks in tongues does not nullify his baptism or make it fake.
5. There are some people who already baptised and because of fear and doubt they have not been able to speak in tongues
6. Every man should read his Bible whatever it tells you and whatever you believe in, do it and it will work for you...
7. If you learnt your tongues go and ask God for forgiveness and ask for the genuine one but if you didn't learn and you got it like some of us did then you are good to go.. make sure you dont quench it..

Please help with the following questions
What is gibberish? Unintelligible talking
What is speaking in tongues? Speaking in intelligible language never learnt by the speaker.
What is praying in the spirit? Praying =Addressing Praying in the Spirit =Addressing the Father by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. Giving up all what's going on in your mind and totally connecting to the Spirit of God.
How do you know it is gibberish they are speaking? Am sorry but I have to reply with a question. If truly its unknown languages they speak, when they find out there's no interpretation why do they keep on speaking, seeing it edifies no one except themselves.

Some people have the gift of helping people connect and get charged easily or with hassles..
Let give you an example, there are people who would lead praise and worship and the whole atmosphere would be electrified and it would be like wow and some would lead and nothing happens.
From my example if you are in the congregation of the first you would see that your connection would be easy and fast in short you would br marvelled at some of the things you will do in services like that..
If you are in the no 2 it wo would take additional effort from you to get to the where you wanna be..
Some have the gift, some grow to that level.
I hope you understand.
If you need further clarification let me know

TheFakeMuyis: We May disagree but Holy Ghost Baptism is not Salvation or Sanctification experience, that only requires us to received by faith and we believing that yes am save, am sanctified by His grace and we keep growing. Holy Ghost Baptism come with power and we cannot hide it [ask Peter or Stephen if am lying ], remember i stated in my earlier post: ...the fruit of the spirit were the true nature of Christ recreated in the life of a Spirit filled Christian. and the Holy Ghost Himself is 3rd Personality in the Godhead, so if you have Him [The Holy GHost] you have Jesus in you as well He is the one that will recreate himself in us. Remember Father, Son, HolySpirit are one, wherever you find one of them all are present, and we cant be carrying God in us and yet we are lacking the nature [of Christ] he desired.
I also believed that we dont develop these fruit one after the other, they come at once with the Holy Ghost Baptism, prior to that our life is already prepared for Him, that is the nature of sin as less to zero influence on us (so we wont be messing around like samson )
At time a once Baptised Christian may have lost it, thats why there fruit will be missing in their live. In my own case [not very far] I soon as I confirm and believed to have received the experience I started praying for fullness of the fruit of the spirit, speaking in tongue was not my top priority, there are better Koinoinia
The only answer i can give to your Question is : The person MUST have it, i cant doudt that, Holy Ghost Baptism is not just for speaking Tongue alone but for us fulfil God's purpose for our life
Luke4v18-19: The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to 1)preach the gospel to the poor; 2)he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, 3)to preach deliverance to the captives, 4)and recovering of sight to the blind, 5)to set at liberty them that are bruised, 7)To preach the acceptable year of the Lord
But if thats is not the case the person need to pray for the fruit of the spirit, God want us to be fruitful, physically n Spiritually
--- The real goodmuyis So glad this topic is being discussed. Most believers speak in gibberish not unknown languages. Gibberish was not what people heard the 120believers speak on the day of Pentecost nor Cornelius and the gentiles in his house. I'd advise we read every verse that record tongue speaking with open-mindedness and not with prior knowledge. Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. You cant utter the Spirit's intercession, how then do we relate tongue speaking with praying in the spirit. I've stopped deceiving myself with gibberish speaking, now I pray in the spirit and I'll opt for the latter any day. God bless us all. |
