Whatever you do, don’t make the mistake of going back abroad to engage in crime.
The story of Nairaland’s famous rapist, Oyinbogoju, is still very fresh in the crime section. Japan graciously deported him to Nigeria for money laundering (let’s just say Yahoo) and sexual criminality. Instead of stopping with that, he went to the US and violently raped a 13 year old child. He was duly tried on 12 criminal charges and rewarded with 3 life sentences + 76 years. No deportation, just life long imprisonment at the age of 31.

Don’t be like Oyinbogoju, don’t take deportation for granted. A lot of countries will try you , convict you and incarcerate you based on their own justice systems. Deportation after committing crime is a favor to you, don’t waste the opportunity to repair your life.

No, I didn't ignore. I only refused to keep recycling answers over and over.

We are supposed to be done with this rhubarb already, sir.

I've been reading and responding some people privately, or showing support or detestation by liking or sharing the posts.

You cannot compel me to share or paste some confidential 1200 documents to you just because you want to verify sth. The document already says the rape happened! All we were doing from frontpage was arguing the rapist couldn't have been Bah using evidences provided to refute the claims.

The dissonance isn't what I want to do here again.
Shey oyibo people say action speaks louder than words?

Let's watch as things unfold, boss. We cannot keep recycling the schisms within.

Here is my point. He told me everything you are saying. I read others.

The thing is that it didn't really happen how the court wrote it down.

You are a professional and that's why I also respect your views. I am a professional too...and what he says in line with what you said is spot on...when there is a third ear to understand.

It looks like a lie to sb who is only reading the script.

To sb who is examining, it looks like sth is missing somewhere.

I believe 12 jurors spent the better part of a week hearing evidence during a trial and unanimously -- and quickly -- voted to convict him. A jury conviction is a powerful statement of guilt that requires more than a cursory claim of innocence to ignore. The burden of proof shifts to Bah to prove his innocence after that kind of conviction, and he's not meeting that burden, since everything he's arguing would have been evident to those 12 jurors.

He also has tremendous incentive to lie like hell right now, given what he's facing in prison.

There's no point in arguing half-measures: you can't sort-of-rape a 13-year-old girl, and there's no real provision for leniency in sentencing given the conditions. The only way he ever gets out of prison is by arguing that the state broke its own laws prosecuting him. And, again, he isn't offering sufficient evidence of that, because that's a high hurdle to leap.

Yeah. He did it. I can say that because a jury said it.

Thanks for your input.

Please, when free, try revisit the case again using these facts:

1. As opposed to what you said, there was actually no in-court identification. Yes, it was falsified!

2. The jury never heard the DNA weren't his...he was standing for himself then (story for another day). The judge prevented his DNA expert from testifying!

3. He was deemed guilty even before the court said so.

4. Do you know him in person? You sound like he has done it before and you bailed him!

I do not mean to disrespect you but I wish to provoke your mind! The best way to help is checking two facts! You hate the figure who raped the minor, yes, it's normal! Don't let it becloud simple judgements and human reasoning! People who were set-up also look guilty! How do people set-up prove themselves innocent? Wear those fccking shoes too!

With due respect, if you cannot help, don't add to injury! We summoned you to help...not play the devil. Whoever you are, it's all six feet for us all!

You would reduce your temper to check possible facts if it were your brother in jail! You wouldn't tell him he'll die there because the court facts said so!

Professional journalism is when you discover what the court didn't want others to know! Not being grandiloquent on already known facts with abysmal insults that would weaken one's bone!

Who am I? I am nobody! I'm a crazy lazy dude on the street of Lagos hating on direct insults to injuries! Yes, and that's why you think nobody is nobody to you! I guess you are feeling pained and want to exercise your “connectedness”...that's what it feels to be accused wrongly!

An investigator tries to let the defendant know beyond all reasonable doubts that there are guilty! To help, they proffer solutions if they think the defendant is repentant at least!

You just came in and pronounced judgement like you live in heaven!

Do you even know what he is asking for? He is not asking to be innocent! He only needs the momentum so his case can be revisited and due process followed! That's all he is asking! If he is guilty, wouldn't it end the same way!

Whether Lagos or Maiduguri in Georgia, human government and system is not PERFECT!

I provoke you to read! It seems you only read to rewrite and not read to discover!

I provoke you to wear those shoes!

I provoke you to show the whole world you were the journalist who spoke out for due process!

Yes, I provoke you that you can do better beyond your emotions!

I put it to you....you are going to do the right thing!

I am now done provoking you! Don't bother replying because I am SORRY! cry

Thank you!

My suggestion would be to sympathize with a man living in dangerous conditions in a Georgia prison, but not to accept his self-serving arguments for his innocence. He's guilty.

Here's the thing with DNA evidence: if it's not you, it's usually really obvious. You don't have to prove it with deep statistical analysis. It's just ... not there. What they had was close enough to present to a jury, "inconclusive" only by a narrow technical reading of the law and the science. That's why he tried to get a court to throw it out: as evidence, it's solid enough.

Again: the victim testified. I'm going to read this transcript, and read this testimony. Every new comment in this thread re-victimizes a 13-year-old girl.

I am arguing loudly that most of the people in prison in Georgia should be released right now on humanitarian grounds. I wouldn't make that argument for Bah today, based on what I've seen. He should never be a free man again.

I have looked at the "evidences" you've provided in this thread.

You're full of shit. Straight up.

I mean, I get it. People are getting shanked and murdered all around you in the state prison at Coffee County. The Georgia prison system is falling apart, and prison gangs have effectively taken over state prisons because of the labor shortage with guards. You can get your hands on a cell phone because things are that loose right now. Those prison gangs take a very, very dim view of child rapists. You fear for your life, so you're reaching out any way you can hoping someone will get you out.

You've lied like hell through much of the posts here. You were defended by a public defender, and didn't spend your own money on your defense. You challenged the DNA evidence -- because it was a close enough match to you to overcome the doubts of a judge and jury. The victim identified you in court as the attacker. There is no meaningful doubt about your guilt. Nonetheless, I have a phone call out to the district attorney and a records request to the Douglas County courthouse for the full transcript.

With that kind of evidence, you leaving your phone somewhere else while committing the crime -- your "GPS" evidence -- doesn't matter. Minor questions about whether or not you were able to ditch your clothing don't matter. Nothing you've said overcomes the strength of the evidence presented in court, or demands that I "investigate" any further than this.

You were convicted fairly. You are no longer entitled to a presumption of innocence, particularly on the strength of this evidence.

You think you're going to die in jail, and soon. I sympathize with that fear. You were sentenced to life in prison, not to be garroted by a murderer in a dark corner of a prison hall. But you belong in prison.

Dear Mr George Chidi,

Thank you for stopping by and I am also glad to know that you are investigative journalist and also you do understand the way of criminal justice system.

However even though you claimed to be an investigator it seems to me that the only thing you have investigated so far is the report that was put out by my prosecutor.

As an investigator have you taken a moment to look at the evidences I have provided?

You said they don't matter right?

Yet the GPS is an evidence that people have used to prove their innocence, even after conviction.....but in my case you said it does not matter right?

2, What was the result of your investigation in regards took the phone call and alibi at the same time I was suppose to be assaulting the young girl, could you explain your hypothesis to nairalanders?

3, You claimed my DNA was found at the crime scene, but you failed to read the testimony by GBI that says " We can not conclude that Mr Bah Is the contributor of the DNA found in the vagina"
If it is not Mr. Bah then who?

It seems you have some other result that I have never seen.....you may as well provide the report you read here.

I expect a man of your caliber to dig deeply into provided information before making a conclusion.

Did you even bother to take a look at defense expert testimony where the expert concluded that the profile of the alleles found in the vagina is totally different from allele profile of Mr. Bah and that exclude Mr Bah, that tesimoney was based on GBI data......doesn't that prove to you that the result released by the prosecution was actually FALSE REPORT.

Your conclusion lack basic iota of professionalism ,unless you can prove my evidences otherwise.

The evidences i have provided were part of 1200 pages court record that 1stGenAmerican refered to, maybe you should study the evidences and come back to prove them otherwise One by One.

Thank you

Alright. Enough.

I'm George Chidi. I'm an investigative journalist of Nigerian descent, living in Georgia. I write for The Intercept and appear on local television in Atlanta. I am familiar with Douglas County, criminal justice issues in Georgia and the mechanisms of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab.

Google me. I'm easy to find.

A friend contacted me to take a look at this. The claims of Adedoja Bah do not stand up to cursory examination. He was convicted not as a matter of mistaken identity, but because DNA found at the scene matched his own. He's arguing that the tests were flawed, but a court ruled that they were not: the testing mechanism is the gold standard and the very best available. Here's the ruling: https://www.cybgen.com/information/admissibility/Bah2019.pdf

I would be the first person to advocate for someone convicted out of racial bias in Georgia. It exists. But that's not what happened here, and certainly not in Douglas County, which is not the rural banjo-playing south. It's a relatively affluent suburb of Atlanta that voted 2-to-1 for Joe Biden last year. There are parts of Georgia where justice for a Black person can be immediately questioned. Douglas County isn't one of them. It's the Nigerian equivalent of Ota or Lekki when talking about Lagos. He's trying to make it sound like he was arrested in Maiduguri.

The Georgia prison system is, indeed, terrible. It is unsanitary and dangerous -- and extremely so for people who commit crimes against children. His life is legitimately at risk. And so, I can imagine why he would look for some way to get out of prison.

But he did it. He's guilty of the crime. His protests are self-serving lies by a man with nothing but his life left to lose.

The jury didn't hear his evidence. The judge prevented it. So we need that push to enable his lawyer fight back...and when that push is present from his home country, believe me, this redress will be fruitful.

My advice:

Don’t be quick to start a public campaign.

Try to gain a firm understanding of the facts of this case; including the facts against the defendant. And if possible reach out to his current legal counsel.

A total of 1200+ pages of recorded transcripts and reports...I guess you have only seen a few pages of this case. You don’t have all facts of this case to mount a public campaign.

Remember the public will ask far more difficult questions.

Since he will not be answering, I'll be telling people asking to read from page one, and way they can support the case...of cos, by social media engagements...and that's the only way the legal parties involved can take his case seriously knowing the world is watching.

Thank you, justwise.

It is uncultured to insult people here.

Whether those needing help, those questioning, or the onlookers.

Name-calling is not a common goal.

We have gotten here so far because some people asked questions.

Silent observers too will underscore the fact that standing alone in a court like that wasn't a best option. But what could he have done when his lawyers were demons looking so nice?

I appreciate the questions and constructive criticisms.

Please, calling sb a liar is okay, but it is pretty nice with evidence.

I believe we are not here to make sure he remains confined in prison if he is innocent, no one is. And believe me, 1stGenAmerican is not that hearted.

But you know, when you provoke sb, there will be a cause to react.

Read the whole thing from page one and you'll understand the common mistakes you will discover...not necessarily lies.

Honestly, we are making progress...

If I had followed the facts at my disposal from the internet, I could have thought otherwise...but after studying timestamps and his evidences, I felt otherwise.

And that's because I patiently listened to him, and patiently examined his facts.

We cannot say they are doctored since they are part of the case.

I also studied the parts of his three attorneys! Permit me to say, with due respect, they were racist lawyers.

This was why I urged everyone to be patient.

And yes, the complete evidence will show it the full picture.

However, since the defendant is here, it is worth asking him too, you know. It is also worthy to understand that not everyone understands every legal jargon and terminologies too.

A woman is soft at heart. Let's assume he did it or not, could you be soft at heart, hear him directly first, and we pursue a common course whether or not to push ahead?

The first step is hearing him completely.

chatinent:

Let me explain sth to you.

He was in jail when those lawyers were suggested to him. I mean his lawyers. He wanted a fair trial..and he couldn't go out. He had to work with them. The first three were same White people from Georgia.

After the long run, he wasn't satisfied with their processes...since he was limited. Remember, he is still in jail footing all the bills..some very exorbitant...and it seemed they were only interested in extorting him (my words).

He sacked them and was standing for himself alone. When the judgement was passed, he was standing alone. He couldn't interrupt when the judge was saying all the things to the jury. He was standing alone. The jury never heard his DNA expert results because he would have been acquitted then. Yes, he would. The judge never gave a room for that tho.

The judge got flared up of his incessant legal fightback and translated it to being not remorseful, hence the gory and long sentences!. Who is remorseful about what they didn't do?

The whole world knows Georgia to be a very tight place for Blacks. Those dudes discriminate a lot.

Also it is ideal to note that it was the Police who provided every thing used to label him a criminal. The same police who stopped him and questioned him of his SUV ..which they later didn't talk about again but brought in the rape case. Initially, they questioned him about the SUV..then diverted to the rape case. He didn't want to respond to them because he wanted his lawyer to speak for him since he didn't know what they were up to. They resorted to saying they shall put the whole charges on him (his words).

Think: who rapes sb in the park of all places when he has a lodge he was staying close there with a room?

What he was wearing was different from what the footage showed. Can sb be at two places the same time? They arrested him cos he was closest to the scene.

Why is the police refusing to accept the DNA expert's results...a professional with over 43 years of experience? Is the police hiding sth?

His DNA with that of the results for the vaginal and the cum didn't match! His contained 20, that was 10...and 10 was the rapist! But the police rather termed it inconclusive...and you and I know what being inconclusive meant! Why were they standing on the fence? Science is rather yes or no.

Then this brings another question. What or who is being protected here? Why is this partial? Because he is black? Why is the judge so enveloped with bitterness to serve him such sentence? That meant if humans lived 1000 years, she was ready to give him it to restrict him for life!

This case is since 2017! Do you know what it feels to be behind bars since then...and most painful when you are innocent?

This could happen to anyone.

Been a silent reader on this thread since October, am very glad that the rapist was given the maximum sentence. The bah guy is a madman , my grouse with chatinent is that the dude didn't even do enough research to ascertain the criminal had a chance by First of all going through the 1200page transcript.

If chatinent had gone through the 1200 page transcript I don't think he'd have want to associate himself with such a madman unless maybe he's been paid or just doing it for the sake of publicity to gain attention to himself, cos I see no reason why someone who is in their right frame mind and who has all the facts at their disposal will want to do such.

Chatinent I hope you know the internet never forgets , your blind support of this convicted criminal is an eternal smear on your name on this forum..I hope you are able to wash yourself clean.

In conclusion I pray God heals the 13year old child, it's quite unfortunate what happened , I hope Mr Bah spends eternity in prison never to roam the streets again .

On behalf of that child who does not know either of us, I say “thank you” for the prayer and thanks for adding your voice.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now, I guess now is as good a time as any.

I want to thank every person on this thread that was courageous enough to stand up and speak. Some from the beginning, some others swallowed their pride and later admitted to being wrong. I said it on another thread much earlier in the year, only big men/women can say “I am sorry.”

I don’t want to name names because I’d hate to miss anyone but some people are deserving of special mention.

1stGenAmerican, the amazon that broke the deceit open right from the very beginning. For those that do not know, her username means “first generation American “ so like you and like me, she has Naija blood in her veins.

I also want to mention 404dev, that man’s passion for investigation was particularly impressive. If even a tenth of the NPF had staff like that and had the necessary resources to solve crimes, crime-solving stats would be transformed in Nigeria.

I am also going to mention Allegory because her insight, from her first reading, was outstanding. I know how much time I spent before putting the whole story together so I knew right off that this was a particularly sharp mind.

Salutation to Daddytime because this thread became an avenue to share his story once again. You see, people, the crime is not the end. There is the concept of “closure.” Victims of crime will tell you that genuine repentance from the criminal goes a long way to help in their healing and even criminals have testified about the lifted burden when they repent.

In the end, there is a young girl whose innocent view of this world was violently taken from her on that summer day in 2017. For those of you rape apologists and their crime-cuddling associates, spare a thought for her and say a prayer for her.. . . . . . and for yourself

Thanks to everyone who was able to keep up with this thread, I know it wasn’t easy. My prayer is that none of us will ever have front row seating in a heinous crime like this or any other for that matter. That we not have to deal with what this child and her family went through and probably still going through. When you hear “rape” let your first thought be about the victim and the life changing effects that he/she may or may not survive.

Good night and God bless smiley
