Family / Re: What Is The Brutal Truth About Life After Marriage? by MNTS0(m): 12:53am On Nov 27, 2022
CaveAdullam:
1. The chances of achieving your goal become impossible or ultra slim.

2. As a father you will hardly have time for yourself because you are bothered about family bills.

3. Your only joy as a father is that your kids are healthy, intelligent, and becoming responsible.

4. As a father, the love your family has for you is predicated on the magnitude of your food storage and the depth of your pocket.

5. As a father when things go sour, the respect from nuclear and extended family plummets.

6. As a mother, you must serve your husband and children. You don't have time for vacations or rest.

7. As a father you will have at least one child that will behave in such a manner that it is as if he/she hates the family and wants to ruin the family name intentionally.

8. As a father only loyalty to your vows will keep you from infidelity because your wife will become boring by the day. Ditto for the mother.

9. The flames that run the marriage don't burn on their own. To keep the marriage fresh and the union alive the husband and wife must fan the flames.

10. As a father you'll one day be shocked and remain long-standing with mouth wide open, eyes gazing far when you are being asked "what have you done for me that you are using to boast".

11. As a mother you'll be expected to lead and provide even though it is not within your jurisdiction.

Marriage is a dreadful but enjoyable journey and must only be engaged by men and women who will be accountable and deliberate enough to hold to their specific marriage vows. Because marriage is the building block of civilization. The man and woman must be buoyant in the financial, physical, and spiritual angles (not religious) with no emotional baggage.

Thanks.

Business / Re: CBN Restricts Foreign Banks From ‘Banking Businesses’ by MNTS0(m): 9:24am On Oct 14, 2022
Thanks for explaining it this way.

While it sounds like a good move…

Why aren’t they tackling the main issue at hand?

I mean the oil theft, corruption, and several other issues that’s stopping the country from increasing her current USD reserve?

Rather than making life difficult for people trying to play their little part in bringing USD to the country.

It’s like using cellotape to hold a bridge that’s about to collapse!

DeLaRue:

Nigeria doesn't have enough dollars in reserve to allow these payments methods.

For example, if you buy something on Amazon using your naira visa/MasterCard, your bank will have to send equivalent dollars to Amazon through the CBN. Oil thefts & a host of other economic problems have resulted in Nigeria not earning enough dollars for several years.

If CBN allows the type of transactions you listed, Nigeria's dollar reserve will reduce faster. This will cause Naira's value to fall even more. This will also mean CBN interest rates will have to rise from its current 15.5% towards may be 20% or more, thus pushing commercial bank interest rate close to 30%. This will lead to more businesses closing, and more unemployment. More unemployment means more crimes. More crimes means more societal collapse & chaos.

That's why the CBN is banning payments for foreign transactions with naira cards. To preserve our dollar reserve.

Even if you eat sleep, breathe French you cannot go from beginner to the level you need to ace TEF in 6months but you can go very far. If you dedicate your time and yourself, I don’t mean 3 hours or study per day. I mean immersing yourself in the language, listen to French music, listen to podcasts while you go to work, listen to french news. Basically live your life in French. And then do a preparatory Class for TEF You can do it in 8/9 months. That’s what I did. TEF is nothing like DALF, don’t be deceived. It’s more like TCF although I heard TCF if slightly easier. If you want to start, start now.

Wow! See me thinking I can go from A2 to writing the exam by December. cry cry

But this same set of people would quickly call bullshit on discoveries of paleontologists — because it counters their belief.

Thoughts please

MNTS0:
Good morning, my people. Please I need your advice.

So I've paid for WES and ETX, and I'm trying to get my transcript from my school. It's almost ready for the ICT guys to send it.

Here's the issue...

My matric number on my certificate is missing a digit at the end. So instead of something like 12/345678 its 12/34567 on the certificate.

My name is clearly written correctly though.

I asked how to change it and the registry said it typically takes up to 3 months. embarassed I just tire.

So I'm wondering...

1. Would it cause issues with WES since certificate and transcript numbers are slightly different?

2. Would this be a red flag for IRCC?

3. Should I just wait through the 3 months to correct it before starting my evaluation?

4. Should I just proceed since it's just a very tiny mistake? I could get an affidavit if necessary?

Hello everyone, pls I am having a challenge paying for WES with my debit card. Does anyone know how I can go about this. I will appreciate a response. Thanks in advance

There are two options;

1. Use Barter by flutterwave virtual card (the rate is about #505/$)

2. Use a Firstbank virtual card — you can get it from your mobile app. The rate is much more friendly.

If you're having difficulty, I can help you pay at no extra cost.

Hi guys!

Regarding POF, which option do you think is better?

Saving in NGN or USD (dom account)?

I'm asking because I'm currently saving in USD and this is what I noticed when I checked the exchange rate on IRCC website;

POF for a single person = CAD13,213 and following the exchange rate on their website (#329/CAD), its roughly #4,320,000.

But if you're saving in USD, then you'll need to have USD 10,545. If you convert that to NGN, it's a little over #5,000,000.

Maybe actually converting the naira to CAD at that 329 rate when you arrive Canada won't be possible?

Please advise, which one is better?

Thanks!

Hi guys!

So I just wanted to share an easy way that I used to pay for my WES.

I tried the barter by flutter wave option, but the exchange rate I saw was insane!! I think #501/$ or something close.

So I created a virtual card with my First Bank mobile app. It was pretty easy and they charged me #215.

I got a VISA card and it was attached to my account. I proceeded to pay for WES and it went through.

They charged me #75,042 for $230. That's like #326/CAD. I think it's cheaper than Barter.

I'm about to try to pay for CIMA. Hopefully, it works and the exchange rate is friendly.

Literature / Re: Pyrates Confraternity: Soyinka At Nathaniel Oyelola's Burial (Video) by MNTS0(m): 10:04am On May 29, 2021
naptu2:
Confraternity ➜ Youth gang ➜Mafia.

1) Fraternities and Sororities: A confraternity, fraternity or sorority (and in, America, Greek letter organisation) are social clubs in universities in many parts of the world. These associations are very common in American universities and very many Americans, including prominent politicians, businessmen, and entertainment stars are members of the associations. The associations were generally formed to help their members academically and serve as a forum for people to network and connect. Fraternity = brotherhood, sorority = sisterhood. Former president George H. W. Bush was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon at Yale, Bill Clinton is an honorary member of Phi Beta Sigma, and George W. Bush is a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon at Yale like his father. Basketball star, Michael Jordan, is a member of Omega Psi Phi, civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha and comedian and actor Cedric “The Entertainer” is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi.

What Wole Soyinka started was a fraternity that was meant to be like the fraternities in American universities.

2) Youth gangs: A gang is a group or society of associates, friends or members of a family with a defined leadership and internal organization that identifies with or claims control over territory in a community and engages, either individually or collectively, in illegal, and possibly violent, behaviour.

Many youth gangs sprang up in the United States in the period between the 1940s and the 1960s. The most well known are the Bloods and the Crips. These youth gangs control territory through acts of violence and intimidation. They usually have their unique colours and symbols like handshakes, walking styles and dances. They could violently attack and even kill someone for wearing their colour in their territory. They raise funds through illegal means like bullying and intimidation, drug sales, etc.

Many fraternities in Nigerian universities became youth gangs in the 1970s and most especially in the 1980s. They engaged in violent acts like murder and assault, gruesome initiation rituals, etc. In response to this, Professor Wole Soyinka pulled the Pyrates Fraternity, now known as the National Association of Seadogs, out of the universities.

3) Mafia: A mafia is a type of organized crime syndicate whose primary activities are protection racketeering, arbitrating disputes between criminals, and brokering and enforcing illegal agreements and transactions. Mafias often engage in secondary activities such as gambling, loan sharking, drug-trafficking, prostitution, and fraud. Examples of Mafia syndicates include the Cosa Nostra, the Yakuza, the Camorra and the Bratva.

The members of these 1980s and 1990s youth gangs have become older and some of them have moved out of Nigeria. They have established their organisations as criminals syndicates in places like Canada, Italy and the United States. They engage in drug trafficking, pimping prostitutes and other illegal activities and they have formed agreements with or fought wars against the Italian Mafia, the American Mafia and other such illegal organisations.

Some members of these organisations have become government officials and high ranking members of the society in Nigeria.

What Wole Soyinka founded in 1952 was a fraternity, not a youth gang or mafia syndicate.

Thanks! Some people just can't seem to wrap their head around this.
