lukaf17:Thank you very much for this. One more thing: Is Idumota on the island or on the mainland? I know a place around Marina/CMS area that they call Eko but I'm not sure whether that area is Idumota because I have also heard people mentioning Eko Idumota. I'm not sure about this part but I think I once saw a signpost of "Idumota" while on the mainland, just before the Red Bus I boarded, climbed the bridge to the island. I'm just being curious because I plan on going there within a month and want to have as much information as possible. |
ajepako:Please, could you describe how to get to Idumota from Oshodi? |
The Nigerian Customs is filled with very stupid, dirty and overzealous creatures. None of those dudes in that vehicle was up to 66, yet they had the effrontery to tell a 66-year-old man to remove a barrier from the road so they could pass. What stopped them from removing the barrier themselves? And if they felt the barrier was obstructing the road, why didn't they just tell the youths to build a speed bump instead? Very dirty and useless creatures. |
jhurney:Nope. I've only been to the one in New York. I heard there is another one at Ojuelegba, maybe you should check that out too. |
jhurney:The one in New York. |
So students are now being issued their own car parks and they mustn't park anywhere else? How will they move between halls, labs and theaters? Or is it not the same Lautech where faculties, departments, lecture halls, theaters and laboratories were built miles apart for no tangible reason? And the road is either dusty or bushy. Even the so called faculties are bungalows, not to talk of the departments. The only high-rise building in that school is the Senate building and one or two other ones located close to 1,500 lecture theater. Osun and Oyo states, spend money on your school, instead of building new universities and polytechnics that will only end up more underfunded than Lautech. That school is an embarrassment and is not even living up to its name. Lautech is supposed to be a great school and the cynosure of all eyes, not this nonsense that the governments of Osun and Oyo states, right from the days of Akala/Oyinola of PDP to that of Aregbesola/Ajimobi of APC have turned it into. Yeye dey smell. |
aristogabby:I saw your PM and quote earlier but didn't reply cos someone here and on Jiji already requested to see the phone. The person here asked first, so I met him first and he bought it. I don't have any more iPhone. Both are sold already. |
Eye service. Have the doctors not been treating other patients? And when doctors go on strike, don't JOHESU attend to other patients? So why is this news? |
Trustisaburden:I saw your call but can't talk where I am presently. I'm very sorry. Can we make it tomorrow? I'll call you when I return home/get to a quiet area. |
I don't know why that man is still the IG. He has disrespected the president and the senate and cannot read a speech. Yet, he is still the IG. Is the presidency watching this at all? Btw, I have iPhone 6s for sale. https://www.nairaland.com/4496506/very-neat-iphone-6s-sale |

emmabest2000:Scam alert your head. I've been a Nairalander since 2009 and my picture is even there on my profile, so what are you saying? Did you contact me regarding the phone? Or have I ever defrauded you or anyone you know? Or has anyone here ever labeled me a scammer? I am not putting my number here because of security reasons. I agree that sellers can scam buyers but buyers can also scam sellers. I need to protect myself as much as the buyer needs to protect himself. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that the seller is not a fraud, the same way it is the responsibility of the seller to ensure that the buyer is not a fraud. Calling me scam because I refused to put my number up here does not cut it. I asked prospective customers to give me a mention or a PM. I will reply and we will negotiate. If we're game, we exchange numbers, meet and seal the deal. If not, each person will go his own way. emmabest2000, I believe you are an intelligent person; please do not prove me otherwise. Accusations like this is enough to destroy one's business and reputation. I will not take unverified accusations and outright insults from you under any guise and for any reason whatsoever. Please be warned! By the way, I already sold one this morning to a customer I found on jiji. One left. Going, going... |
SerialAlpha:You can't be too sure. Courses are usually targeted at officers of a particular rank. The courses they're attending are targeted at Captains/company commanders, so it makes sense that they're attending them. The major question is: How many of them are going/have gone for courses abroad, even as lieutenants? Oversea courses are usually reserved for RC officers since the army wants to keep them for a long time. Meanwhile the remaining RCs and the remaining SSCs have to do with courses inside the country. The RC/SSC disparity in the army is real. The army does not invest much in SSC the same way it does with RC. |
abiodunalasa:I am also hearing it for the first time. It shouldn't happen but I won't be surprised if it is happening. |
SerialAlpha:SSC officers can become Captains but they cannot become Majors unless they convert to RC. |

You're welcome. |
2NDLieutenant:The whole thing has nothing to do with intense training or whatever. Do they mean an officer cannot be trained in nine months? Or if the NDA did not offer degrees, it cannot train officers in nine months? At the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, UK, (which does not offer degrees) officers are trained for 44 weeks, which is ten months. Even the RC at NDA and in other countries only have rigorous military training in their fifth year. The first four years are spent on drills, mild trainings etc but the primary focus is on education (schooling). The cause of the RC/SSC disparity is a deliberate attempt by the Nigerian military. The system has been manipulated to seriously and de-morialisingly favor RC over SSC, the same way it seriously favors officers over enlisted and RC over DSSC. If you check the SSC terms of service, you'll even see that it only favors the military (and the RC officers) and is usually at the detriment of the SSC officer. First, the SSC needs to be at least, 24 to sign up. Then he spends about one and a half years on the 2nd Lt rank, the same one the RC will hang for a few months before he becomes a Lt. The SSC loses his commission on the 6th year (starting for the time of training) unless he renews every year for a maximum of three years. Then he's out, unless he has converted to RC, which I believe would be very difficult. If we research into it, we will realize that it was done by RC officers with the intention of limiting competition (especially at the top) and getting the best appointments. That said, the boldened is rubbish. Officer cadets shouldn't train officer cadets. They can help and guide but not train. And when that happens, those they're guiding should be their juniors and not mates. The boldened is is nothing but an attempt to make the termer 5's and by extension, the RC's feel superior to the SSC. |

Are we really sure that it's false? You know the Nigerian Police issues a lot of false denials and outright lies these days. Well! The truth will soon be revealed. By the way, I have iPhone 6s for sale. https://www.nairaland.com/4496506/very-neat-iphone-6s-sale |
