tartarus:People talk about gender equality / female empowerment as if they are talking about a commodity that you can purchase or discard at will!! It's first a mind soul conditioning before all other indices can fall in place... Some people have been convulsing about senators paying lip service to equality while the widows of their late relatives were chased out of their late husband's houses with their daughters simply because " Tradition" forbids female inheritance"... If a man & a woman meet in an organization that frowns at married couples in the same work environment, fall in love with each other & then decide to get married, the question of who resigns doesn't even come up, it's a foregone conclusion that it's the woman otherwise adjectives like "greedy", "insensitive" "disrespectful" etc will come into fray. ... So many tomato paste importers played dead while loans & venture capital was going into setting up this plant. We sha nor wan hear the govt is planning to kill us when we see an outright ban of tomato paste importation... cos any sane business person won't like a situation where imports will make breaking even on investments impossible...The factory didn't come on line in 2days, only Dangote & Erisco (Ric-Giko is nice BTW) put the resources for local manufacturing in place, others prefer the easy way of import, take the profit & repeat the cycle....... Progressive01, I have been "accused" of being a muslim , ( which to me is neither a crime nor an insult cos i'm Yoruba & have lots of relatives & friends who are, so no one cares) cos of the wholehearted support one gives to PMB & the confidence displayed in order to show people the errors in their faulty thinking & crazy antics.. Yinusa & Ese eloped (if Ese later changed her mind is a different matter entirely) , because unless one is being mischievous or plain dumb, one should question oneself, cos it is very strange that Yinusa was able to get Ese all the way to Kano from Bayelsa ( about 1,000km journey) & she never put up any resistance, or did Yinusa own his own private army & transportation which in turn aided a stealth movement As for the Ebonyi Rapists, as long as they are not muslims, the bigots are ok..... Senators shot down the gender bill, these people didn't know that the Enugu HOA did months before now & started convulsing till it was thrown into their hypocritical & intolerant faces.... I have a deeply ethno religious bigoted acquintance (he is manageable in other ways) who used to run his mouth about Yoruba men impregnating multiple women out of wedlock & how it never happens in Igbo Land.... Since Flavour started his 2baba 2.0 adventure, he has changed the narrative to entertainers are not human beings & should be discounted....I asked, "what about the women Flavour put in the family way, he claimed thay are loose & don't have home training".. It boggles the mind how much the historical illiterates always find a way to tribalise everything especially in a "throwing stones from a glass house" scenario..., However, I never expected the bill to see the light of day cos; 1.Nigeria is openly patriarchal 2. A large number of the men are covertly misogynistic 3.Women are more economically disadvantaged in comparison to men.... & 4. Most germane is the point that the legislathieves are not there to serve anything else but personal interest, they know their actions & inactions won't attract repercussions. The SCR is a very Noble & commendable idea but did the electoral laws make provision for it? If you feel i don't understand how the law works, we won't argue...... however.. I believe what is good for Ambode/ Yari is good for Ikpeazu/Wike... it's not even just about fairness & justice, it's about uniformity... I do not like Wike, scratch that, all the souls he "sent" out of the world will rob him of sleep, but Law is the Law.. dazall!! As for the Rep/Dem impasse, it's a whole different ball game........
