Jobs/Vacancies / Why Was I Not Picked For This Job? by Mode4: 3:31pm On Aug 20, 2021 |
Please I need a candid explanation for this, if you have any. I will try to be brief as much as possible. So last two months I was invited for an interview in a new school that is about to begin by septamber, apparently a branch of one of the top missionary secondary schools in Nigeria. We were 22 in number that appeared for interview on that fateful day. The interview was for TWO subject teacher positions. I was interviewed for one of the subjects. We all wrote a written test for one hour. At the end, according to them; Six persons emerged highest scorers. I was among the six persons. I.e, Three persons for EACH of the two subjects. We were then subjected to an oral interview and micro teaching which lasted for about 20mins for each person. Well, I was the first. answered most of the questions that were thrown at me. I left feeling very satisfied. Just like you would write an exam and leave the hall feeling very good because you know you wrote well, that was how I felt that day. Well, after the interview we exchanged contacts and I and the other guys have been communicating ever since. Till now no news from the HR team that interviewed us. And it's 2months already. Well, the HR number was in the mail he sent to me for interview, So today I decided to call the HR. I was shocked to hear that the position we were interviewed for has been filled. I am wondering? What really happened? Why didn't they pick from amongst the six of us Just why? I'm just being curious! 13 Likes 3 Shares |
Education / Why Are Most Phd Researches In Nigeria Not Solving Any Real Life Problem? by Mode4: 8:55pm On Aug 19, 2021 |
If your PhD didn't solve a real life problem, It's nothing but another fancy degree added to the ones you previously acquired. But to be honest that is what a PhD is supposed to do—solve a real life problem. A PhD research is supposed to be a groundbreaking research. Something that will provide answers to a key societal problem. Scholars, especially, shouldn't only spend years of doing research just to publish it in a random academic journal and then earn the title that comes with it. Research should be novel and highly valuable, contributing immensely to the needs of humanity. In Nigeria, we seem to have our way around everything. I mean we cut corners even at PhD level—the highest level of education, quite sad. PhD students cheat in exam, manipulate their research result; Gather data from already published sources and bribe their way through the system. A friend told me today about a woman, a top politician who was only told to take a bow and walk away when it was time to defend her thesis. She didn't defend her thesis as stipulated all because she has the money and power to maneuver her way. Nigeria which way 1 Like |

abumeinben: In biology, we make use of sampling technigues to determine the population of living things. Sampling technigues make counting or population studies easier because we can we can take a representative fraction "sample" within a square meter then do an extrapolation of the entire surface area. Education / A Nigerian Becomes The First Black Female President Of Harvard by Mode4: 7:43am On Jun 29, 2021 |
Meet an Akwa Ibom Daughter who becomes the First Black Woman President of Harvard. The prestigious Harvard Law Review has elected its first black woman president in its 130-year history. Ime Ime Umanah, 24, from Abak Local Government is a daughter of Late Dr. Ime Sampson Umanah, a Nigerian immigrant. She grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She's a joint degree candidate at Harvard Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Umana was chosen by the Harvard Law Review's 92 student editors in what is widely considered the highest-ranked position that a student can have at the cut-throat law school. She is the first African-American woman to lead a journal that has the largest reach of any law journal in the world. The difficult election process required a thorough dissection of her work and application, and a 12-hour long deliberation of her portfolio. The first black man to be elected president was Barack Obama 27 years ago, while it has been 41 years since the first woman, Susan Estrich, was elected. Women can do better Congratulations! #ChooseToChallenge https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/27/us/after-130-years-harvard-law-review-elects-a-black-woman-president.amp.html&ved=2ahUKEwi9iuGun7zxAhVP3IUKHQD9BXIQFjAKegQIGRAC&usg=AOvVaw1QzoGBW2x_yDMPXJJWMYAL&cf=1 4 Likes 1 Share
