Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has urged the people of Gombe State to assist him with prayers in his effort to choose people that would help him deliver his mandate. Dankwambo made the plea when he visited two traditional rulers in the state, the Mai Tangale and the Mai Kaltungo. He said litigations over his election for a second term were over and that he is now working hard to choose the right people to work with. In the past two weeks, Dankwambo has come under criticism from various quarters over his inability to appoint commissioners, advisers and other political appointees, almost nine months after he was sworn-in. He said the prayers become necessary because, choosing the wrong people will harm the government. The Mai Kaltungo, Engr. Saleh Mohammed and Mai Tangale, Dr Buba Maisheru, separately pledged their continued loyalty and prayers to the government and thanked the governor for his effort to cushion the hardship being experienced by the people. www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/politics/pray-for-me-to-select-good-commissioners-dankwambo/135813.html

Please let me explain to those of us who don't understand Economic terms. Dollar has not increased since Buhari became president 1. Dollar is not our currency so dollar should not be our business 2. Our problem is not d government but our problem is our importers and consumers 3. Naira has remained at 197 naira to 1 dollar since Buhari became president 4. Buhari has promised not to devalue the Naira and he has maintained that promise 5. Both at CBN and at interbank rates, dollar has remained 197 6. However because we are too lazy to produce what we use in Nigeria we import even toothpicks and matches 7. Buhari does not like d importation of luxury goods because luxury goods is d reason for most corruption, that is why he banned 41 products from having access to forex 8. However when Nigerian importers insisted on importing those 41 products, FG asked them to find their dollar at d BDCs parallel market also known as black market 9. And to discourage the pressure Nigerians are mounting on the Naira just to get dollars for importation, CBN banned DMBs from selling dollars to BDCs 10. To survive the pressure of excess dollar demands, BDCs resorted to sourcing for dollars from neighbouring countries through illicit money laundering routes 11. Because of the risks faced by BDCs to source for dollars, and because of the increase in demand for dollars by importers because China just resumed from their business holidays, BDCs keep increasing the price at which they exchange dollars to naira and now it is 400 naira to 1 dollars 12. However that does not mean that govt has changed the exchange rate because if our genuine importers go to CBN and fill Form M to import raw materials for local production, they will get dollars at 197 naira each 13. So the problem is that we love to consume luxury foreign products yet we are too lazy to manufacture them here. 14. For example u will see a dull girl using iPhone 5 without even knowing simple physics and computer engineering part of how that phone was produced 15. I want Buhari to ban every foreign product from Nigeria until Nigerians learn to produce and use Made in Nigeria products 16. Let us stop complaining about dollar as if dollar has become Nigeria's currency 17. It is even bad enough that most of those complaining about the high exchange rate of dollar do not have 1 single dollar in their purse. |

A spokesperson for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin
Okupe, says the choice of a former governor of Borno State,
Modu Sheriff, as the acting national chairman of the Peoples
Democratic Party is wrong. Okupe said it was unfortunate that the PDP was in the habit of making grave errors in its choice of leadership. He said with the emergence of Sheriff as the national chairman of the PDP, the opposition party risked total disintegration. In an article published on his officialFacebook page on Wednesday, he said although Sheriff was his long-standing political associate, the former Governor lacked the capability to hold the party together.? Okupe said, “Some of us have vowed not to leave the party (PDP). We still will not leave the party. We will continue to engage all who care to listen and seek help from everyone ready to revive this severely challenged sickened giant. “For a morose political party, thanks to the overwhelming and effective propaganda machinery of the party in power, this may yet be the mortal wound that may cause the eventual depletion of its long perplexed following. “But if it is the divine will of God that our present masters must kill the PDP, then by the grace of God, we shall yet tarry at the graveside to bid it farewell.” He lamented that making wrong judgments had become a trait of the party. “The capability of our party, the PDP, and its leadership to make grave errors in judgment is legendary. What is intriguing is that even when the party is out of power, that tendency seems not to reduce. “Alhaji Sheriff is a long-standing political associate of mine and a very astute politician of, perhaps, a sublime class. But for the post of the national chairman of the PDP, he is a wrong candidate and (he is) also coming in at a wrong time,” he said. Okupe said with the crisis rocking the PDP, the emergence of Sheriff might deplete the membership base of the opposition party. The former presidential spokesperson listed impunity, presumptive reasoning, restrictive consultative process as the ‘diseases’ killing the PDP. Okupe said the PDP leaders who supported the emergence of Sheriff hinged their argument on the fact that, being a wealthy politician, he (Sheriff) would be favourably disposed to fund the activities of the party. He, however, said other leaders within the party felt that Sheriff would compound the problems of the party and bring ‘a crushing weight of burden capable of fatally destroying the few strands of moral fibres in the party’. www.abusidiqu.com/well-be-at-pdps-graveside-to-bid-it-farewell-okupe/ |
