Politics“IF I WIN, You All Will Leave America” Donald Trump Tells Nigerians. by mohince(op): 1:41pm On Jan 17, 2016
A merican Billionaire and Republican Presidential Front-
runner, Donald Trump, has shot a subtle warning to the
Nigerian Community in the United States, after he said all
Nigerians would be made to leave the country “when he
becomes President”.
He made the “threat” during a rally at Wichita, Kansas.
According to Donald Trump, Nigerians ad Mexicans have
taken all the jobs meant for honest hard working Americans.
“To Make America great again, we need to rid of the Muslims, Mexicans and the Africans, especially the Nigerians. They take all our jobs, jobs meant for honest hard working Americans, and when we don’t give them the jobs, the Muslims blow us up” , Trump said.

“We need to get the Africans out. Not the blacks, the Africans. Especially the Nigerians. They’re everywhere. I went for a rally in Alaska and met just one African in the entire state. Where was he from? Nigeria! He’s in Alaska taking our jobs. They’re in Houston taking our jobs. Why can’t they stay in their own country? Why? I’ll tell you why. Because they are corrupt. Their Governments are so corrupt, they rob the people blind and bring it all here to spend. And their people run away and come down here and take our jobs! We can’t have that! If I become president, we’ll send them all home. We’ll build a wall at the Atlantic Shore. Then maybe we’ll re-colonize them because obviously they did not learn a damn thing from the British!”

His speech was met with raucous applause by the 10,000
strong predominantly Caucasian audience. What this
portends for Nigeria in the event of the Trump victory is still
unclear, but the Nigerian Ambassador to the US has so far
allayed fears of all Nigerians living in the USA, although we
gather he has secretly packed his bags and is set to move
to Mexico or Canada if Trump becomes President.

Writing lines is a long and boring method of punishment, but
one six-year-old girl devised a way to end it quicker.
Isabella Collier, 6, was told to write the line ‘I will make
better choices’ a number of times as punishment for getting
in trouble at school.

According to the Huffington Post , Isabella’s mother, Victoria
Collier, had been hoping to teach her a lesson.
Isabella obviously took the line she was told to write to
heart, making the best possible choice she could make in
her situation.

After writing the line out properly four times, she decided a
shortcut was the better choice and drew several vertical
lines straight down the page.
Then she continued the punishment by just adding the
necessary dashes, shapes, and extra letters to complete the
sentences.

The word ‘choices’ seemingly became warped into ‘choies’
but perhaps Isabella meant to combine the letters ‘c’ and ‘e’
to save her even more time.

A friend of Ms Collier’s posted a picture of the sheet on
Reddit and image-sharing site Imgur, where impressed
users viewed it over 1.7 million times.
Noe Arellano posted the picture with the caption: “My
friend’s kid is going places.”

Ms Collier told the Huffington Post she was more than
impressed with her daughter’s ingenuity and efficiency.
“Efficiency is a value I admire and this was truly her way of
getting it done,” she said.

Ms Collier said Isabella’s “free spirit” and inquisitive nature
means their home is “never boring”.

PoliticsI Promise To End Corruption In Nigeria If I Serve Again – Jonathan by mohince(op): 9:51pm On Jan 15, 2016
President Goodluck Jonathan said on Monday that his successor would not have any difficulty fighting corruption because of the technology his administration is putting in place to fight the menace.

Addressing party supporters at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign rally in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Mr. Jonathan, who is the presidential candidate of the party, promised to end corruption in Nigeria, if given the mandate to run the country for another four years.
“I promise you if you vote for me and I come back and serve this country in the next four years, the next persons that will become the president of this country will not talk about corruption because we are working on technology and we will use technology to block all these areas through which people are corruptly enriching themselves,” he said.

Mr. Jonathan, who has severally accused of condoning corruption, added: “Today we are talking about IT. We are no longer in the analogue generation. So we want to deploy IT to solve problems and I tell you in the next five years nobody will harass the next president for not fighting corruption because I will solve the problem of corruption in this country.”
The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, had promised during one of his campaign rallies last week that he would jail corrupt leaders.
However, Mr. Jonathan, who assured of his commitment to stamp out corruption, said he would not do so by sending corrupt Nigerians to jail.
He said his administration has prosecuted more people than any past administration in the country.

He said, “But let me assure Nigerians about my commitment and my method of solving the problem of corruption or fighting is not the number of people I tried and jailed.

“In terms of people I tried and jailed, maybe I will give you the statistics on my subsequent outing because I have asked them to give me the comprehensive statistics.

“We have tried more Nigerians. More Nigerians have been jailed within this period, but we followed due process. But I used to tell people that even if I tried 10 million Nigerians and jailed five million Nigerians for corruption, I have not solved the corruption problem.
“For you to stop corruption, you must use modern technology to prevent people from stealing. And that is what we are working on. The oil industry is a good area. We are working very hard. I don’t just want to say certain things. All these people have so much money that they will do everything to stop us.”

Mr. Jonathan criticised Mr. Buhari for promising to abolish the office of the First lady if he was elected.
The president said he would not do so because the office and other women associations are used as a channel to empower the country’s women.
He said, “They said they are going to ban the office of the first lady, they are going to ban the office of the governors’ wives, they are going to ban the office of local government chairman, they are going to ban the Defence officers wives, army officers wives association, naval officers wives association, police officers wives association.

“But me, having served as deputy governor, governor, vice president and president, I can tell you that these offices are helping us to mobilize our women. And these offices are encouraged to set up NGOs. They money they spend does not come from government budget. They run NGOs.
“Nigeria had a lot of philanthropists. They want spend money and they use some of these channels to empower our women. You don’t have to turn them to baby factory alone.

“I promise the Nigeria that if we open international magazines parading women I want to see Nigerian women in those magazines. The Nigerian women on their own have struggled to reach the highest positions in their country. I am making deliberate effort to try to put you on the international limelight. That is what I am doing. I don’t believe that you are designed to pound yam for me.
“I don’t think your duty is merely to procreate. But you cannot be a baby factory manufacturing children and doing nothing because my conviction is that as a biologist, the brain God gave men and women equally. Physically men are more endowed but both men and women and equally endowed in brain.

Mr. Jonathan said he had always believed that “any human population that does not give equal opportunity to women you are not exploiting 50% of their brains.”

He added, “For me we must exploit 50% of their brains for the purpose of developing this country. That is why you see so many women holding top offices in my cabinet and we will encourage them the more. I don’t believe women should not be given top positions. If that is the belief of others so be it. A vote in 2015 is a vote to liberate them or imprisoned them to the kitchen.”
Mr. Jonathan paid tribute to some Yoruba leaders, including the first Premier of Western Region, Obafemi Awolowo, the late Chairman of the defunct National Party of Nigeria, NPN, Adisa Akinloye, a former governor of Oyo State, Lam Adesina, a former Minister of Justice, Richard Akinjide and the late Lamidi Adedibu, all of who he described as “great men who have led the country and are still leading.”

He added that “We want to model our leadership after them because they achieved greatness.”
Mr. Jonathan described Ibadan as the political headquarters of the South West just as he paid tribute to the people of the region.
According to him, it was the people of the region that encouraged him to convoke the 2014 National conference.
“Ibadan is a leading light to all parts of this country. South West has played great in education. The south west encouraged me to start the National Dialogue. I have to give that accolade to the South West. You donated one of yours who was the pioneer to set the agenda,” the president said.

One Simple Honest Request By Buhari

If he Buhari was a man of integrity, all he would have done was write to senate and say "we found too many errors in the budget we presented. I take responsibility for this. In view of that finding as well as more suggestions and ideas since its presentation, and knowing only Allah is without mistakes, I hereby humbly request that ypu disregard the budget before you. I shall be presenting a much better budget to the house in a shortwhile. Again, i take full responsibility and regret the inconvenience. Yours sincerely, Muhammed Buhari, President.

But since he lacks honesty and integrity, this clandestine withdrawals and denials are his modus operandi.

Ibrahim Magu, the chairman of the Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC), says he is ready to die fighting
corruption in Nigeria.
Magu said he was lucky to be the one, out of more than 170
million Nigerians, with the chance to lead EFCC, meaning if
the fight against corruption required going with it, he was
ready and determined to.
“There is too much talk about corruption fighting back, of
course corruption would fight back, you don’t expect to fight
somebody all the time without him fighting back,” Magu
said during a visit to Channels Television.
“But we are resolved, we are determined to win this fight
and Nigeria has about one hundred and something, over 170
million Nigerians. If I am opportune to drive this thing and in
the process I happen to go with it, so be it. I am, we are
ready. We are determined to fight this fight to finish.
“There are series of allegations. For instance, the case of
NIMASA of N2 billion initially, we took him to court and later
on, we realised that he had another matter that he siphoned
out of public funds, about N34 billion.”
The EFCC boss said the commission carries out thorough
investigations, which often takes months, before proceeding
to make invitations or arrest.
“We carry out background investigation, preliminary
investigation very thoroughly. We might be on you and you
would not know. It may be six months, sometimes 10
months.
“For instance, this NIMASA case, we’ve been on it for more
than 10 months, before we began to invite people.”
Magu has been accused of running a selective EFCC ,
prosecuting members of the opposition party, while men of
the ruling party walk free.
In his response to the allegations, Magu said the EFCC
works with petitions received and he is also very eager to
get a petition on members of the ruling All Progressives
Congress (APC).

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) collected a total of N903 billion in 2015 out of a target of N954 billion, comptroller-general of the Service Col. Hameed Ali Rtd, has said.

Ali who stated this while fielding questions from journalists after the decoration of newly promoted senior officers of the Service in Abuja, noted that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) policy on the importation of 41 items denied the Customs revenue collection to the tune of N240 billion in 2015.

The CGC yesterday decorated six newly promoted Deputy Comptrollers General and eight Assistant Comptrollers General.

He said, “If we had added that to what we have generated it would have surpassed what we have, so that is the down side of why we were not able to meet the target in 2015.”

Ali who expressed the hope that the Service will surpass its target for 2016 in view of the tools already put in place by the management, added, “I hope also that government will once again look at those policies and see how they can be fine-tuned.”

As part of efforts to meeting the 2016 target, the CGC said he has gone round the various Commands where he urged officers to work harder as well as help the agency clear the correct the bad impression the public has about it.

The newly decorated officers include DCGs Suleiman Ibrahim Idris, Grace Adeyemo, Dan Ugo, Paul Ukaigwe, Abubakar Umar and Austen Warikoru. The ACGs include Sanusi Umar, Aremu Olatunji, Chidi Augustine, Azarema Abdulkadir among others.

While congratulating the officers, he underscored the fact that their promotion did not come by way of lobby or compromise but based purely on merit from available records.

Charging the officers, Ali said, “I expect nothing less than the best. I expect from you henceforth hard work, commitment and drive for the best. My mission in the NCS is to make it the best of Service not only within Nigeria but across the nations.

“My mission is to make sure we clean ourselves of all the bad impression that we carry along, my mission is to ensure that we meet all the mandate set for us by the government and I believe that all of you will have no other mission than to fall in with that and make sure that 2016 is put on the record as one of the best years of the NCS.”

BusinessOil Prices Rise After Saudi Arabia Cuts Ties With Iran by mohince(op): 5:34pm On Jan 04, 2016
Oil prices rose Monday on Middle East supply risks after
Saudi Arabia cut diplomatic ties with Iran.
At about 1230 GMT, US benchmark West Texas
Intermediate for delivery in February climbed 30 cents to $
37.34 a barrel.
Brent North Sea crude for February won 59 cents to stand at
$37.87 a barrel compared with Thursday’s close.
Mike van Dulken, head of research at Accendo Markets,
noted that “geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are
adding to existing volatility in the price of oil”.
Tensions between major crude producer Iran and its Sunni
Arab neighbours reached new heights Monday as the
world’s biggest pumper of oil Saudi Arabia and Gulf allies
cut or downgraded diplomatic ties with Tehran in a row over
the execution of a Shiite cleric.
Angry exchanges following Saudi Arabia’s execution
Saturday of prominent Shiite cleric and activist Sheikh Nimr
al-Nimr erupted into a full-blown diplomatic crisis as Riyadh
and then ally Bahrain severed their relations with Tehran.
“Oil started the new year on the mend, as… markets reacted
to fears that geopolitical tensions in the Middle East may
threaten the supply of oil,” said Bernard Aw, market
strategist at IG Markets in Singapore.
Despite the rise, Aw said the persistent global crude
oversupply would continue to weigh on prices over the
longer term.
“Unless we see a convincing drop in oil output from these
two nations, and the broader oil-producing community, the
supply glut issue will persist, which means oil prices would
remain under pressure for a longer period,” he told AFP.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries,
whose 13 members include Saudi and Iran, decided last
month against cutting output levels despite a plunge in oil
prices — in a bid to maintain market share faced with
competition from North American shale oil output.
