It was recently brought to our attention that a small group of Nigerians, purportedly camouflaging to be "former Exco of NIDO-MY" distributed notices signed by one Johnfrace, including conspicuously at the entrance of the Nigeria High Commission Malaysia, at No 85 Jalan Ampang Hillir, Kuala Lumpur, to notify members that elections were to be held at the high commission on 6th April 2013 at 12 noon, "to vote for those who will represent their fellow Nigerians in meetings with host nation (Malaysia)." We are also reliably informed that the said "election" has taken place and the "elected executives" have been inaugurated at the same embassy, in the presence of some 30 or so Nigerians, an occasion which we learned was greeted by the presence of the Nigeria High Commissioner to Malaysia. For the avoidance of doubt, and to clear the confusion imminent in the circulation of rumor with respect to such notice and activities, I write on behalf of the legitimate executives of NIDOMY to state as follows; 1. We are, and remain the only legitimate representatives of the organization called Nigerians in Diaspora Organization, Malaysia (NIDOMY), registered in Malaysia under the Malaysia Societies act 1966 as a non-Governmental Organization (NGO), with Registration number 0193-11-WKL (a sample copy attached), currently having members running in hundreds. To this effect, the 2013 update of particulars (members list, financial statements, minutes of meetings, logo and headed paper) with Registry of Societies (ROS) Malaysia was recently submitted and approved, in accordance with provisions of the Malaysia law. Similarly, we are the NIDOMY recognized by NIDO worldwide, adequately represented on the recent harmonization dialogues on Diaspora voting right and the use of common Logo & web-site by sister NIDO branches world-wide, and in the preparations for the Diaspora Day 2013. The tentative program of the 2013 Diaspora Day event we helped to develop has already been sent for approval by Hon. Abike Dabiri of the House committee on Diaspora and the Senate committee on Foreign affairs. Therefore, no other organization is legitimately registered or recognized by the Malaysia government or NIDO Worldwide or in Nigeria as "NIDO-MY", and therefore we are convinced that this group of Nigerians is impersonating our organization, to perpetrate illegal activities, in blatant violation of the law. 2. Recognizing this unlawful conduct, our investigations also revealed that this group of few Nigerians is an appendage of the dwarf "NIDO-MY" faction that the former Nigeria High Commissioner Chief Peter J. E. Anegbeh connived in conjunction with Mr Idowu to promote; a group constituting of individuals who are neither legitimately registered with us, nor do some of their members even possess the legal documentation to be resident in Malaysia. Yet, the same group of individuals continues to be promoted, patronized and recognized by Mr I. O Idowu, with the obvious support of the present Nigeria High Commissioner, in spite of a warning letter sent by our lawyers in 2011 to deter this practice. Since Mr Idowu has refused to abide by the last warning, we are left with no alternative but to take the next legal step as was laid down by the Malaysia societies act 1966 (as amended). As at press time, our lawyers have already served letters to prosecute these impersonators, joining the High commissioner and Mr Idowu as co-defendants for promoting illegality. 3. Meanwhile, we want to assure all our members that the so-called election (a gathering of not more than 25 individuals, some of questionable character from which Mr Idowu allotted to 'executive offices' of his selfish choosing) is neither recognized, nor should it be recognized by any right meaning, law abiding Nigerian in Malaysia or anywhere for that matter. The organization "NIDO-MY" is fake, Mr Idowu's selection is hereby declared null and void, as the so-called "elected" individuals are illegitimate, as we would prove legally soon. Meanwhile, we call on Nigerians in Malaysia to ignore these individuals, while urging the Malaysia public to be wary of them. This is as the insistence by Mr Idowu, and indeed the High Commission to have an Exco of NIDO of their choosing is a part of a big fraudulent scheme, which is for the selfish economic gains of Mr Idowu, the High commissioner and a few others in the embassy, at the detriment of Nigeria and Nigerians that they are employed to work for, and represent. 4. We are aware in recent times, of the racketeering of International passport applications at the embassy, in connivance with these "NIDO-MY executives" and how the process has been made very tedious and expensive, sometimes costing legitimate Nigerians between 2-5 times or more the actual costs. This in effect, has led to criminals enjoying the freedom to change their passports at will, to hide their identities to continue their criminality in obvious violation of both Nigeria and Malaysia laws, whereas legitimate Nigerians are subjected to untold hardship in pursuit of an ordinary, routine procedure. This is one of the reasons for the High commission's interest in executives of NIDO, a selfish one. 5. Similarly, we are also aware that the Nigeria High commission in Malaysia has also politicized and monetized the issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) and endorsements for scholarship applications such as Malaysia international scholarship (MIS) and Malaysia Technical Cooperation Partnerships (MTCP), etc. to Nigerians. In each of these cases (as in others too many to mention), the High commission has come up with its own rules, in collaboration with their foot soldiers ("NIDO-MY" to extort money before they make such endorsements or to frustrate the efforts of such Nigerians who refuse to play the game according to their rules. To this effect, many Nigerians are frustrated from enjoying such scholarships or endorsements, except those that are 'well connected' or financially endowed. This is another reason why Mr Idowu is particularly interested to have NIDO executives who have the blessings of the High commission, even when NIDOMY is registered as a non-governmental organization; another selfish reason.6. Most importantly, whereas the few criminally minded Nigerians are patronized and promoted by the officers of the High Commission essentially because they can afford the money that these greedy officers demand, the vast number of law abiding Nigerians like Solomon Okolo (who was mobbed to death in Kuala Lumpur on 28th March 2013 after his friend had an accident with a local on a motor bike) and Mr Onochie Martins Nwanko (also killed in April 2012 by paramilitary People's Volunteer Corps, Rela over a frivolous accusation that he sexually harassed a woman) continue to pay (sometimes with their lives) for the illicit activities of the few criminally-minded Nigerians the Nigeria Embassy is bent on promoting and protecting. When ugly situations like the death of a Nigerian occur in Malaysia due to illegal actions of locals, the Nigeria high commission usually neither responds quickly nor comes out to make professional representation during the hot hours of such incidents when reprisal attacks by Nigerians are imminent. In fact, the High Commissioner was reported in the media on the last occasion to have escaped to neighboring Singapore for fear for his life, while other embassy officials fled to save their lives, whereas the embassy was guarded by Malaysia Police during this period of tension. In effect, the manner by which the Nigeria High commission promotes and protects the few criminal minded Nigerians here is a great threat to the larger community of hard-working, legitimately resident Nigerians, who have been stigmatized by the actions of just a few. I dare to say that officers in the High commission, like Mr Idowu do not care about this, so long as their principal objective of making steady illegal income is not compromised. In effect, all Nigerians here are thus becoming increasing victims of local stereotype and hate, due to illicit activities of a few criminal-Nigerians that the Embassy is protecting, but which the officers do not care about. 7. Lastly, it is easy for corrupt and greedy officers employed into very sensitive positions like the High commission to recruit the services of illegal resident Nigerians in Malaysia, purchase a cheap camera for recording their illegal activities and uploading these on free social media resources available online like Facebook and YouTube, just to deceive the unwary public that they are indeed carrying out legitimate activities. On the other hand, it takes responsible, law abiding Nigerians to understand the legal implications of unlawful gatherings, particularly in a foreign country, and as such to abide by the provisions of the law to register an organization for the purpose of promoting the development of their country in the diaspora and their peaceful co-existence among locals. Whereas Mr Idowu, the High Commission and their fake "NIDO-MY" represent the former, we in NIDOMY represent the later who are in the majority here. We shall not sit back and watch an insignificant few put the lives of the vast majority here to risk. It is for the above reasons therefore, that we in NIDOMY resist any attempt by Mr Idowu and his co-conspirators in the Nigeria high commission from interfering in the affairs of NIDOMY even when our actions compromises their established illegal 'business' and threatens their illegitimate income. We therefore urge all our members to remain patriotic and to distance themselves from the activities of this fake "NIDO-MY", while calling on any Malaysian public or private enterprise that has reason to transact business with NIDOMY to insist on being shown a legitimate Malaysia Societies registration issued by ROS before engaging into any dealings. Anyone who does business with these individuals without this clarification does so at their risk, as we also use this medium to report to the Malaysia law enforcement agencies that we disassociate ourselves from the activities of this illegal organization and cannot be held liable, responsible or accountable for what they do. This is even more true as we have already began the necessary legal actions to challenge this illegality (our lawyer's letter has been served to the embassy as at press time). Thank you President Nigerians in Diaspora Organization, Malaysia (NIDOMY) |
Luckily, the Nobel peace prize nominations are not based on which constituency in Nigeria one comes from, so those with sentimental cob-webs on their eyes and minds are free to take their frustrations to their farms and fertilize their bruised ego, if that would help them. Have we forgotten that it is those who find it worthy to even nominate the two that are the same guys who found it credible to nominate your distant uncle Wole soyinka years ago (by similar yardsticks)?. It is the same people that we are hoping at some point, to also find your nearer uncle, Chinua Achebe worthy in a few years to come. So, if this award is "a joke" or "piss and shit award" as someone liked to call it, just remember that Wole Soyinka's award (and Chinua Achebe's ambition to clinch one, rightly so) are also implied by the same degraded simplifications. And while you are at it condemning nominations of who-so-ever by such foreign International agencies, just remember that these guys also are the ones who rate your level of intelligence (which is low at the moment), who categorize your economic worthiness (very bad) and who, by the same characteristics, would decide if you are fit for investors to come into your country or not (they have remained out, abi?). Or have you forgotten so soon how our President boosted his bravado recently by citing that one of such agencies had shown that Nigeria's corruption index had dropped (laying tribute to his war on corruption as having worked), only to be silenced into subdued embarrassment when the agency confirmed it was a lie, that it never said so? Yea, they are our yardstick for measuring who is credible for nomination or not, because clearly, we lack the intelligence (again by their own measurements) to choose right from wrong. So, whether the 2 clerics nominated win the award or not is immaterial, what matters is for one's efforts to be recognized and appraised by an impartial umpire, completely devoid of regional, religious bias and free from Nigerian political influence. Need I mention, also free from the clout of sentimental cob-webs that is critically threatening to blind the psyche of our younger generation? To me, Onaiyekan making the nominee's list as opposed to Oritsejafor (despite the later's recent laughable, yet hypocritic visit to the US congress) is a clear message to the Nigerian Christians: Change your CAN leadership from the current one to a more qualified, objective and purposeful one, Onaiyekan! If the Christians in Nigeria do not interpret that the international organizations see more attainment of Peace with Onaiyekan and Sultan at the head of the 2 different religions and working together, then the JOKE is on them. Period! Someone said "where is the Peace?" How else can you see Peace in Nigeria when you have a CAN president who "throws bombs" every time he opens his mouth to speak, blaming everything and everyone except himself? If Oritsejafor knows where Boko Haram is and has refused to confide this information to GEJ so that they could be brought under control, then he is not helping his religion (and that is a failure of his fundamental objective as a CAN President). This is because every time BH strikes, Christians as much as Muslims are killed. All Oritsejafor's pronouncements since inception of the BH saga point to the fact that he knows where BH are and probably knows who they are and he is not mentioning names? Is he happy for Christians to die? How is that for helping Christianity! Take this to any ATM machine and cash it! Tell me how much it is worth. |
Recently, Oritsejafor was called upon not to divide Nigeria, a proof to the logic why such a person can never be Nominated for NOBEL PEACE PRIZE! http://www.punchng.com/news/dont-divide-nigeria-acf-leader-tells-oritsejafor/ |
It comes as a relief when the good hardheartedness of some clerics, with regards to how they mouth and act to create peace on the Nigeria land, has become recognized world-wide, to the extent that they are nominated for the prestigious NOBEL PEACE PRIZE this year[/http://beeafrican.com/pt/Two-Nigerian-clerics-nominated-for-2012-Nobel-Peace-Prize/blog.htm], among the 231 nominees. This must certainly send some alarms to the likes of the much touted and controversial CAN president Ayo Oritsejafor and his apologists when he was not deemed as suitable for such a recognition. I for one, would have loved to see people like the Reverend Hassan Kukah as nominees, so that the people like Oritsejafor can learn lessons in how to go about religious issues in Nigeria. Not that I see Oritsejafor's sometimes unprofessional mouthing of his politically motivated statements as any threats, but people occupying sensitive religious positions in Nigeria need to be reminded from time to time that their tongues are themselves weapons, which if not used rightly, could make the difference between peaceful coexistence and harmony in the polity of religious polarity, or outright call for WAR! His statements often suggest the later. If Christians in Nigeria heed Oritsejafor's unguarded utterances, soon they will be called to arms against their Muslim counterparts. Now that the world has also proved to Oritsejafor that the leadership in the search for peace as demonstrated by Roman Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Onaikan and his Muslim counterpart, The Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar 111 to befit their nomination for a NOBEL prize, may be Oritsejafor will go back into his cocoon and sulk about the need to exercise restraint when he makes public religious statements. http://beeafrican.com/pt/Two-Nigerian-clerics-nominated-for-2012-Nobel-Peace-Prize/blog.htm |
[http://saharareporters.com/comment/reply/18074][/http://saharareporters.com/comment/reply/18074] The first time I read a piece from this individual, I became tempted to check him out, and I was not surprised at what I found out at all (He is a joke alright). With a shallow write-up such as this one, it is confirmed that this Rudolf fella is a complete idiot, and an ignorant one at that. I began reading this very article, following up his argument which seem to be charting a course towards condemning the popular attitude which people hold, that "my religion is better than yours". Childishly and naively, he went through some unnecessary blabbers and rants, citing funny examples to buttress (?) his points, only to end the article regurgitating and swallowing back the very vomit he was trying hard to throw out! What is my justification? Rudolf begins his real criticism of RELIGION on paragraph 3, where he opens..."To understand how helpless we are in the face of this force...". Then on paragraph 8, his childishness graduates into bare-ass stupidity, where he attempts to liken RELIGION TO UNDERDEVELOPMENT; "The tragedy of Africa is that it reached the information age without first passing through the industrial age...". (In other words, those who passed through the industrial age before the information age, like those in the so-called "developed" nations are not religious or what?) Then in his closing remarks, he completely contradicts the very issue which he set out to renounce in the first place; that is, he says "my religion is better than your religion" (Proof? "But I am rooting for science not religion"!). I do not expect any serious minded individual to make any attempts to dissuade him from his belief, correct, preach to, enlighten or even explain to this ignorant individual about how truly wrong he is about everything he wrote. This is because his ignorance is deep-rooted, he is inflicted with a deadly disease, of his own illusions. However, it may do Rudolf some good if he is told how unenlightened he is about simple facts, which he seems to enjoy twisting, in an attempt to advertise his ignorance. It is for this reason I respond to him, to make him aware that we know about this disease of IGNORANCE. A simple cross-check of some personal hypothesis he has tried to advance as a fact in here should suffice, even using the metrics he worships so dearly (science); Hear him in the opening; "The best estimate says that modern man showed up some 200,000 years ago". Someone please tell him that the oldest skeleton of the human ancestor (named ARDI by anthropologists or scientists, if he pleases) was dated to have lived 4.4 million years ago. More interestingly, ARDI was found in AFRICA! So, who's estimates were you referring to, Rudolf, yours? Lastly, Rudolf possess neither the knowledge nor the experience, to write about matters which are so sensitive like the one he just ventured into. Perhaps it would pay him to remain focused on insulting President Jonathan and his PDP thieving crew, which seem to make interesting reading among Nigerians these days (one of the fundamental reasons which has many Nigerians trooping to saharareporters). Rudolf should be advised not to think he can use the protection offered by this social media to insult the beliefs and mentality of over three quarters of the inhabitants of this planet, just for his own personal fun (No one else is laughing). Yes, he has the free will to air his opinions, but should be very mindful of the fact that when he is doing so amid lies, deceit and ignorance, it is completely unacceptable and very unfair. No one begrudges him the choice of SCIENCE over RELIGION (whatever he means by that), but please someone tell him do so with decorum and bearing in mind that he could be hurting and insulting a whole bunch of individuals, probably including his own very parents and siblings. I doubt that the ethics of SCIENCE permit THIS, or do they? |
Bodik, why dont you spend part of that money to learn the rudiments of the trade first? I will advise you look for an established fish farm that is in production year round. Arrange to pay and learn the basics of aquaculture practice for like 6months; which means you will be there when a batch of fingerlings or fries are stocked and reared to grow-outs. During the 6months period, you would learn how to clean the tanks, change the water, monitor water quality, feed the fish and monitor the growth performance of the fish. It is also a good time for you to learn how to keep your log book about fish farm management as it pertains to expenses and how to calculate average cost of a fish. You will also learn about feed formulation, alternative feed ingredients and a host of other little things like fish diseases and emergency procedure when you run into trouble. After all that, you can then decide to start on your own by managing some few fiberglass or plastic tanks of fish in your backyard or anywhere close by first for like 2 or more batches. Once you become confident that you are set to begin on a larger scale, only then will I advise that you develop your plots and build either cement ponds or earthen ponds as the case may be. It all depends on you. I always advise people to take it easy first untill they learn the tricks of the trade before they expand. It is however also posible to start full scale and be successfull, but you have the marketting bit to contend with. It would be dissastrous to have market sized fish and then you are looking for a market to dispose them. I know those market women will eat you raw, once they know you are a novice. Ask some experienced farmers, they will share their experiences with you. Good Luck! May Allah save Nigeria! |
Hello guys, Its about a year since I came on here and posted my impression about the growth in fish farming business in Nigeria. From that time till now, I am very happy with the exchange of ideas and the sustained interest in fish farming in Nigeria. It goes to say that Obasanjo may have been wrong in several other decisions he made when he was president, but banning importation of fresh fish was certainly not one of them, in my opinion. I want to however sound notes of causion to beginers. Some come into the fish farming bussiness with their minds already made up, so they hardly want to get or pay for consultancy, untill all of their initial capital is lost. Some like to run the bussiness cheap and would always pop into fora like this, post a question or two and hope that answers given to them would solve their problems. It is more than that! I have also read where people who keep a pond with 100 fish call themselves fish farmers. It is all good, but we must always try to know what we are doing so that when we offer advise, it will be taken seriously. Without showing off (just setting the records straight), I am a Ph.D student researcher in Aquaculture nutrition in USM Malaysia. I have expertise in fin fish culture, from Catfish through Tilapia to exotic breeds that we are even considering bringing into Nigeria from Malaysia (Bagrid Catfish, Channa striatus, Iridescent shark to mention but a few). I have conducted experiments (and still do) in so many aquaculture systems (Glass aquarium, round fiberglass tanks, rectangular fiberglass tanks, concrete or cement ponds, earthen ponds, canvass tanks) wether in the conventional batch system or recirculatory and have conducted experiments (still do also) with lavae, fries, fingerlings, adult fish and broodstock. I can confidently tell you that every culture system one operates with every type of fish you keep need carefull manipulation, because each is different in its own way. Its all up to you. You need to be PROPERLY INFORMED about what you do or intend to do. As for capital, most people feel that they can just get a bank loan of 2million naira and jump into the trade and VOILA! their capital will tripple in a matter of 6months, OH! NO! It is always better to start on a small scale, learn the trade from the scratch as much as posible, using an old hand in the trade who will mentor you (at an agreed fee anyway) and then gradually expand to the capacity you can handle. It is safer, easier (even though tedious) and more advisable. Better to learn on an already established farm than using your capital to build one (which may not be standard at the begining anyway). As to feeds (this is the trickiest part, it is over 60% of the whole trade), you have to be carefull what you buy as feed or as feed ingredient. Most of the nutrition labels we have on fish feed are nothing but a hoax. I recall here in Malaysia, we had an undergraduate do a re-evaluation of the nutrition labels of about 15 fish feed manufacturers' products. All he did was take 1 kilo sample of the newest batch of fish feed and confirm the proximate composition levels of protein, lipids, energy and vitamins + Minerals. Wallahi only 2 companies had a comparative 90-100% acuracy of what they claimed was in the feed, the rest fell below 50% of their claim!. Now in Malaysia, regulations are stright and penalties stiff but these companies were still cheating, what more of Nigeria? NAFDAC is trying, but they have a compact schedulle, few staff! (Evaluating the number of genuine Pure water manufacturers is enough job for them as it is now, no insults just facts!). For those who plan farming big, power is a consideration (NEPA or PHCN still continue to be a nightmare, diesel and petrol continue to be a problem, both in scarcity and price). Many people are told the LIE that catfish dont need to be aerated (Yes they can survive at the poorest level of dissolved oxygen), but what about their growth? In our lab, we conducted a research (and published in high impact jornals) on the effects of continuous aeration on growth performance for about 5 breed of fish, including catfish and tilapia. Wallahi, there is a significant effect between fish grown with continuous aeration and those without, and this translates into Naira! I always get this passion when I am writting about fish. For those who are interested, there is a catfisfarmersnig forum in Yahoogroups. I am subscribed there, its an open forum so you can come in and lets share ideas and answer your questions. Keep the flag flying. Grab your nets and lets go fishing guys, Nigerians need and deserve more proteins. May Allah save Nigeria! |
Hey Guys, I just wonder if any of you has been in a fix before and neede to call the police in the neighborhood to come to the rescue, did u remember (or even know) a number to call? In other instances, some crime is taking place and u want to help by calling the police and remaining annonymous but where is the number to the nearest police station? There are so many incidents, happenings, assistantce and help you can render if one knew how to call for it, especially now that our GSM operators are bussy celebrating 2,3 or even 4 years of existence. All the promotions and cash prizes to people is nothing, they have made millions from our people and should start showing some seriousness. Well, I was under the impression that it was high time theseGSM operators called themselves together, got their acts together and launched interconectivity to the police, road safety, fire service and all other relevant authorities even if they do not function correctly. Let us come together and agree on a number that every kid can remember (Just like 911 in USA and 999 in Malaysia) so that there will be distress number for everyone to call. I just thought for instance since democracy came back in may 1999 (or so it seems) so 599. What are your thoughts on this?? |
If you once had hope that the state of African universities was ok, or that it was improving or better still, if you have been priding yourself that you are in a great university because your father said UI was good or ABU was great or such other statements like great Ife and so on, then u need to read this research finding and make up your mind. Truth is currently, African Universities lack the wherewithal and facilities to lift the poorest continent (Africa) out of its present comatose position. And it is a known fact that higher education, the type provided by universities is the surest way to lift a country out of poverty. The poverty alleviation (or is it eradication) programs are supposed to be designed in universities as evidences of research would suggest. Here, the case is different. Furthermore, the world universities ranking of 2006 ( http://ed.sjtu.edu.cn/rank/2006/ARWU2006_Top100.htm) shows that no university in Africa is ranked among the first 1000! Alot f the contributions here are a bit sentimental, tribalistic, religiously affiliated and sometimes selfish. I for one has never subscribed to rotational leadership, because I believe that it defeats the main essence of democracy. I mean, why narrow down the search for a true leader to a segment of the country, whereas you can give the electorates a galaxy of choices? It follows therefore that even when it is glaring that the person who the majority of Nigerians view as the potential candidate to rule comes from the South-south, He would not have the chance to be elected because of some stupid rotational stuff? As for wether Buhari or Yaradua, I am of the opinion that who ever we eventually pick should be the one who would deliver us from the twin evils of corruption and mismanagement. The one who would provide sucour to the already impoverished Nigerians, develop our infrastructure and provide an enabling environment for jobs to our teeming youth population. I am looking for a leader who would damn all consequences and jail all the guilty money bags who have contributed in looting our national treasury. The kind of person that would genuinely restore the rule of law, provide security for lives and property and encourage sustainable development. I am also looking for that person who would encourage performance and is prepared to reward it and discourage cheating and corruption and is ready to go to any length to punish offenders, no matter how highlly placed. All the above qualities are rare but not imposible. It is unbelievable that at this stage in our democratic lives, some people still take pleasure to want to think that these qualities are only available to people of their religious extraction, their tribal group or people from their regions. I dont care if it is a GOAT from MARS that acquired a Nigerian identity through the internet who posesses these quualities and is ready to apply it for the good of every one. All I care about is to be able to get the right kind of education, get the right kind of job that suits my qualifications, afford the good things I wish to get and be secure in my country. I want to be proud to be from Nigeria anywhere I go, not to have my baggage scrutinized because I carry a green passport. Until we stop labeling the GOOD LEADER with tribal marks, until it ceases to matter if he is Muslim or christian and several other selfish qualities, we will truelly never see goodness in any of the so called leaders vying for the lucrative position. Right now, I pray that whoever eventually gets elected pocesses all tose qualities I have mentioned and even more! God bless Nigeria. |
A new wave of online sales promotion/marketing is about to hit Nigeria like it has never done before. An opportunity exists for young and old adults in the country to make legitimate money online, without fear of being cheated or being taken for a ride. Many unemployed youth now spend more than 3-5hours online searching for VACANCIES, whearas they can make themselves thousands of Naira in the same time period and with even lesser effort. If you believe that ; success only happens when opportunity meets determination, and that Your progress is only restricted by your own will to risk taking the first step, Then, this is your chance to find out how realistic this can be. Hi guys, I am so impressed by the richness of the contributions of those who have one experience or the other to share, not failing to also applaud the eagerness of willing subscribers which goes to show that this discussion thread is a viable one. Actually, I wanted to be quick to caution those who are lured by the presumpsion that "fish farming is an easy way to make money pronto!" that they need to be watch it. The statement is as true as it is also false based on so many reasons. I am not a pessimist, but I do know that one needs to unnderstand the nitty-grities of every business preposition one intends to invest in. If you understand the basics, there is no gain saying that your success will be more assured as compared to jumping into it as a novice aznd "putting all your eggs in one basket" What is my point? Yea, sure. I have a 3-points guide for you. 1. First, I will advice those who want to go into fish farming to learn all the theories there are to learn, from as many tutors/workshops and practising fish farmers as posible. When you are sure that u have heard from the experts as much as posible, You can then proceed to the second stage. 2. Secondly, convince yourself about which practicing fish-farmer you believe you can trust as your mentor, who posibly should live near you and who can spare time to supervise yours. Pay him if need be, because the more he knows he stands to gain something from you, the more he is willing to help. Then you can begin by investing a little into the bussiness. You can start from the very minimum, the size you can confortably manage, which you are even prepared to loose entirely. This you will manage with supervision from your mentor, learning all practicals and seeing how it contrasts with what is in the theory. 3. Finally, having havested the first batch which was supervised, you could manage another batch partially supervised and then another, then another untill u aare sure you can do it on your own. Once convinced, my brother, you can go full throtle into big time investment, because by this time I can confortably call u an EXPERT ISH FARMER (Dont mind if it is small-scale, medium scale or large-scale). You may wonder why I am saying all these. Yes, I say it because I am a PhD research student of Aquaculture nutrition. I am into research to develop a local alternative feedstuff for tilapia and catfish which is cheaper than what is currently in the market but also as efficient, if not more efficient, so I have all the theoritical/practical information regarding raising/managing farm-grown catfish/tilapia. It is on record that most fish farmers who lost out of the trade did because of poor know-how/orientation at the begining of the trade. This is quite surprising because, like some one rightly pointed out FARM-RAISED FISH is a lucrative business! Properly learnt, I don't think many youth in Nigeria have business complaining about unemployment because currently, the demand for fish in urban areas of Nigeria can only be met about 20%! Good luck guys as your interests in my research area grows, I will pop in from time to time to see how I can respond to other queries of yours as the arise, but meanwhile, don't cut corners! Peace! |
Success is when opportunity meets preparation
I think many of us are talking about how to become RICH!!! The real question was career sucess, strategy or luck? I will surely subscribe to pure strategy, which is a combination of working hard, working smart and being prepared at all times to grab an opportunity when it shows itself. It has to even do with recognizing an opportunity! I hate it when people resign to fate and try to paint the picture of a career sucess depending on pure luck and making it sound as if GOD is wicked. Nothing, I mean NOTHING comes purely by luck! God could try to make you lucky when you buy a bottle of COKE for instance and get a crown cock that fetches you millions while in essence, He may be paying you back for all the hard work you have dedicated your life to, else where. Guys, keep up the hard work, for sure you will succeed, even though LUCKILY!!! |
I like Gbade's 'definitions' of films and home videos. He has allowed both his academic prowess and personnal loathing of the Nigerian movie industry to feature in it prominently. In as much as it is traditional to educate ourselves on topics of mass interest, I believe from time to time, we should allow people know from what point of view we are speaking. I will never risk adding anything else in an attempt to address the question asked, I would rather tag along with Gbade's views, to make myself vulnerable to more attacks from people who always choose to sit on the fence. are u one? |
The hang man's noose hovers precariously over Saddam's head, threatening to choke him to death despite his trial being tagged "questionable " by human rights watch and a call for re-trial. Do you think saddam deserves to die??

This forum is really kool. Mine goes like this, I was to see my in-laws after being away in Benin for like 2years. Every one was telling how much things have changed for me. I now had a bigger car with a driver, my office was much more comfortable, my salary was bigger and stuff like that. Definitely, I had to come home and creat the right impressions to match what guyz arround have been told. So, I bought a pair of cream coloured blazzers and tie to match, skin shoes to go along with and my hair was cut really cute, It was really costly and i must confess I looked Bam in the outfit, when I looked into the mirror. My wife too was pleased with the outfit and my looks. When we got ot my inlaws' house, all the kids were arround me, the look of the car really glamourous and my MR WORLD appearance to go along with it. But guess what, as I squated down to greet my father inlaw (as is the practise in my tradition), my trousers just gave way PAAAAAA! from my crotch to my anus and my boxers just came out clear! Thank God the boxers was a new pair, snow white and shinning, if not it would have been worse. See embarrassment as the whole parlour bursted out laughing. What was supposed to be a lovely encounter turned dissastrous! |
People online or elsewhere are mostly known by their nick names to the extent that sometimes, it is even difficult to remember their actual names. These Nick names have several meanings to those who bear them, have come to mean so many things to those who use them and sometimes follow the owners to their graves. I just want us to share the fun, the intrigues and whatever else is associated with our nick names online. In my case I was to open an e-mail account and was looking for a name that would summarize my three names in one, to fit the e-mail application request. So, I picked the parts of my names written here in capital letters; as in MOhammed aLEEyu PAIKO and came up with MOLEEPAIKO. Even though my classmates back in FGC Warri used to call me MOLEE, its so interesting that people all over the world now know me by the new name and I like it. What do you think, care to share yours?? |

to extort money before they make such endorsements or to frustrate the efforts of such Nigerians who refuse to play the game according to their rules. To this effect, many Nigerians are frustrated from enjoying such scholarships or endorsements, except those that are 'well connected' or financially endowed. This is another reason why Mr Idowu is particularly interested to have NIDO executives who have the blessings of the High commission, even when NIDOMY is registered as a non-governmental organization; another selfish reason.
