Warn your girl child never to sit on anyone's laps no matter the situation including uncles. Avoid getting dressed in front of your child once he/she is 2years old. Lean to excuse yourself. If you have to hire a house-help please kindly take them for HIV screening to determine their HIV status, properly interview them and make up your mind to treat them well. Never allow any adult refer to your new born as ‘my wife’ or ‘my husband’ Never tempt your husband with your younger sister. Avoid unnecessary familiarity and make sure you take care of your husband by yourself lest you lead him into temptation. Whenever your child goes out to play with friends make sure you look for a way to find out what kind of play they played together because young people now sexually abuse themselves. Never force your child to visit any adult he or she is not comfortable with and also be observant if your child becomes too fond of a particular adult. Once a very lively child suddenly becomes withdrawn you might need to patiently ask a lot of questions from your child If you don't teach your children about sex the society will teach them the wrong values (you can order for parent sexuality education kit) It is always advisable you go through any new material like cartoons you just bought for them before they start seeing it themselves Teach your 3year olds how to wash their private parts properly and warn them never to allow anyone touch those areas and that includes you. Blacklist some materials you think could threaten the sanity of your child (that includes music, movies and musicians) and let them understand the value of standing out of the crowd. Once your child complains about a particular person, don't keep quiet about it. Take up the case and show them you can defend them! Useful info? Pass it on please. |
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A senior commander in Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guard warned that Iran will target U.S. bases in the region in the event of war with Israel, raising the prospect of a broader conflict that would force other countries to get involved, Iranian state television reported Sunday. The comments by Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, who heads the Guard's aerospace division, came amid tension over Iran's nuclear program and Israel's suggestion that it might unilaterally strike Iranian nuclear facilities to scuttle what the United States and its allies believe are efforts to build a bomb. Tehran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. Hajizadeh said no Israeli attack can happen without the support of its most important ally, the United States, making all U.S. military bases a legitimate target. "For this reason, we will enter a confrontation with both parties and will definitely be at war with American bases should a war break out," Hajizadeh said in remarks that were posted on the website of Iran's state Al-Alam TV. U.S. facilities in Bahrain, Qatar and Afghanistan would be targeted, he said. "There will be no neutral country in the region," Hajizadeh said. "To us, these bases are equal to U.S. soil." The U.S. Fifth fleet is based in Bahrain and the U.S. has a heavy military presence in Afghanistan. The Iranian warning appears an attempt to reinforce the potential wider consequences of an attack by Israel. The message is not only intended for Washington, but to its Gulf Arab allies that are fearful of a regional conflict that could disrupt oil shipment and cripple business hubs in places such as Dubai and Qatar's capital Doha. It also comes during a major show of naval power in the Gulf by U.S.-led forces taking part in military exercises, including mine-sweeping drills. The U.S. Navy claims the maneuvers are not directly aimed at Iran, but the West and its regional allies have made clear they would react against attempts by Tehran to carry out threats to try to close critical Gulf oil shipping lanes in retaliation for tighter sanctions. Despite Israeli hints of a military strike, Iran's military commanders believe Israel is unlikely to take unilateral action against Iran. The Guard's top commander, Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, said last week that Iran believes the United States won't attack Iran because its military bases in the Middle East are within the range of Iran's missiles. Iran has also warned that oil shipments through the strategic Strait of Hormuz will be in jeopardy if a war breaks out between Iran and the United States. Iranian officials had previously threatened to close the waterway, the route for a fifth of the world's oil, if there is war. Israel believes that any attack on Iran would likely unleash retaliation in the form of Iranian missiles as well as rocket attacks by Iranian proxies Hezbollah and Hamas on its northern and southern borders. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says international diplomatic efforts and economic sanctions against Iran have failed to deter its nuclear ambitions, and he has urged President Barack Obama to declare "red lines" that would trigger an American attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, coupling his appeals with veiled threats of an Israeli attack. Obama has rejected these calls, saying diplomacy and U.S.-led sanctions must be given more time and that Iran will never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons. American officials have pressed Israel not to attack Iran unilaterally, a move that could set off regional mayhem just ahead of the November election. Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is currently in New York to attend the annual U.N. General Assembly and could seek to use his speech and meetings later this week to highlight the possible risks — including sharply higher oil prices — if military action is taken. source: http://news.yahoo.com/iran-threatens-attacks-us-bases-event-war-143141162.html |

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Los Angeles bank manager was strapped to what appeared to be a bomb on Wednesday and sent into her bank to take out money for two thieves who escaped with the cash, in a scene reminiscent of a Hollywood movie, authorities said. Officials believe the two suspects, who confronted the manager at her home on Tuesday night and forced her to participate in the robbery, fled with the money, Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman, Steve Whitmore, said. "The two men took her to her bank on Wednesday morning, telling her that she had to wear this explosive device," he said. "They strapped on what appeared to be pipe bomb." Following the robbery, a sheriff's arson and explosives team removed the device from the woman and rendered it safe, Whitmore said. Officials did not identify the bank manager. Whitmore said the woman entered the Bank of America branch in east Los Angeles at mid-morning and told her colleagues what was happening before she took the money and threw it out the front doors. The suspects were thought to have taken the money from outside the bank before fleeing in a car described as possibly a white Kia, Whitmore said. He did not say how much money the robbers may have taken. The bank manager, who was described as frantic and crying, was being questioned by detectives. Whitmore said authorities had no further information. He could not provide a description of the suspects. Explosives experts were trying to determine if the device strapped to the bank manager was in fact a bomb. http://news.yahoo.com/bank-manager-forced-part-los-angeles-bank-robbery-201639966.html |

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim has asked all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to respect the nation’s anthem and stop using tattered national flags and Coat of Arms. He also asked all the MDAs and their staff members to honour the country when the national anthem is being played. Anyim, who gave the warning in a circular, which was obtained exclusively by our correspondent last night, said disrespect for national symbols is an offence against the state. The circular said: “It has been observed that some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as public officials are not according the deserved respect to Nigerian National Symbols (Flag, Coat of Arms, National Anthem and the Pledge). “It has therefore become necessary to re-emphasise that it is a civic responsibility of all citizens to show respect to all such National Symbols. “All MDAs are accordingly reminded that the National Symbols are signal of Authority and Instruments of State that should be respected as acts of patriotism and national duty. “For the avoidance of doubt, Section 5 of the Flag and Coat of Arms Ordinance No. 48 of 1960 stipulates that “any person who flies or exhibits the National Flag in a defaced or bad condition shall be guilty of an offence against this Ordinance”. “Similarly, Chapter 2, Section 24 (a) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, enjoins all Nigerians to “respect the National Flag, the National Anthem and the National Pledge. “The purpose of this Circular is, therefore to request all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to henceforth ensure that respect for the National Symbols are sustained and enhanced and to guard against inappropriate (a)Flying tattered/faded/defaced National Flags; (b) Hoisting and flying smaller sized National Flag along with bigger corporate flags; (c )Using the National Flag for trade adverts; (d) Hoisting and flying National Flag at the same height with non-National Flags; (e) Burying a deceased person with the National Flag except when duly entitled; (f) Inappropriate positioning of the Coat of Arms in offices; and (g) Lack of respect when the National Anthem is being played at officials functions “All MDAs are further reminded that the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has enough standard National Flags modern fibre glass poles with accessories Coat-of-Arms and National Anthem to meet their demand. You are therefore, free to contact the agency.” www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/news/59473-disrespect-for-anthem-flag-is-an-offence-against-the-state-says-anyim.html |
Oyo and Osun States’ Governors Abiola Ajimobi and Rauf Aregbesola have appointed former Lagos State Governor and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the Chancellor of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, Oyo State. A statement in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Media, Dr Festus Adedayo, confirmed the appointment. The statement said the choice of Tinubu, a financial expert, accountant and administrator, followed an extensive deliberation between the governments of the two owner-states. I was walking around in a Big Bazar store making shopping, when I saw a Cashier talking to a boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old.. TheCashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't haveenough money to buy this doll. Then the little boy turned to me and asked: ''Uncle, are you sure I don't have enough money?'' I counted his cash and replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy the doll, my dear.'' The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to. 'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much . I wanted to Gift her for her BIRTHDAY. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.' His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God.. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister...'' My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I needher to wait until I come back from the mall.' Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so my sister won't forget me.' 'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.' Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.. I quickly reached for my wallet and said to theboy. 'Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?'' 'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money. The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!' Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked lastnight before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!'' 'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave meenough to buy the doll and a white rose. My mommy loves white roses.' I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started. I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind. Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young woman and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pullthe plug on the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma. Was this the family of the little boy? Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.. I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial. She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever... The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him. Please DO NOT DRINK & DRIVE. |
