Cape Town has mostly congolese, who are more civil and easier to get along with.. Joburg is where most Nigerians are at.
Thats not true. There are plenty Nigerians in capetown as well. I don't elieve thats why its less xenophobic. Might have something to do with less Zulu people there, don't you think? |
REMMEI: Kini mo un wa lo southy..nigba t'ilu gidi wanbe lati lo.My friend I travel there on business, you no read wetin I write. |
I am a frequent traveler to both cities in south africa and continue to notice the overwhelming differences between the two popular cities in South Africa. Anytime I am in capetown, I feel less afraid and hardly am noticed for being "different" aka "makwerekwere". When I mention I am nigerian and here on business, the people including the blacks, coloreds and whites don't usuallly give it a second thought. When I am johanesburg, very different atmosphere, its like I am in automatic competition with the blacks there, like I stole something already. I really believe the ingnorance stems from most Black south africans not travelling extensive enough to really understand international cities and johanesburg is finding hard to come to grips with the reality of what the city is transforming into. Your thoughts? |
somalia11: i gueas all indians are black tooCushitic is a language classification. It cannot be used in comparison to "negroid" which is a cranio-metric anthropological designation. GO BACK TO SCHOOL! |
Number one rule when you are a minority in another country. Never roll out to anywhere alone by yourself. Always roll with a crew. Even if you are only two. Less likely to be targeted. Stanley shouldn't have been rolling alone. |
somalia11: our food is mix of somali, meditranian, indian.lying again. All your food is imported. Anybody that eats authentic somali food will puke! |
somalia11: because somalis go there as refugees mostly and its based on the fact we are a minority in that countryStop lying, they use you as houseboy and taxi drivers! |
Ah you dumba azz. Get the categories in correlation to the anthropological terminology. You used ethno-language designations for the last two. Negroid Aethipoid Caucasoid. GO BACK TO SCHOOL!!! |
lepasharon: wat do somalis eat?I can answer that for you Breakfast : Corn meal flown directly from the good ol USA Lunch : Left over corn meal from breakfast. Dinner : Hashish ! |
Tsweehing. Small pickin feminist ranting. The American you ran to, didn't have the exact same problems. Correct olodo! |
I wouldn't want to claim these skinny looking hungry mofo's in this movie. Damn those buck teeth!! [flash=300,200] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wc1l1DW6IE[/flash] |
^^ I do not dislike AA, I simply am projecting the attitudes I see displayed infront of me. By no means are my statements generalizations of all black people. That would be ridiculous. |
somalia11: i wouldnt be talking about noble features of somalis when you look like a stocky short over grown gorilla with the nostrills of a great ape.skinny somali about to blwon away by them desert storms. Hurry tie um to a tree! HAHAHAHAHAHA! |
KidStranglehold: Aye...I can tell this thread got heated.I can accept the term "black' to reference an ethnicity in an American context I can also accept the term "Black American" to reference an ethnicity within a nationality in relation to say an Igbo-Nigerian. However what I find suspicious in people who try to propagate this agenda is the conspicuous replacement of the this term for "African-American". Its like a Chinese-American or a Korean American running away from the designation "Asian American" lets just call it what it is. Africa as a continent does not have much to offer "black" people in terms of furthering their struggle nor making a lasting imprint in world affairs and because of this they continue to distance themselves from this struggling continent in the guise of claiming mixed ancestry and all kinds of nonsensical arguements. If you ask me I think Afro brazilians and Blacks in South America have more claim to that attitude since they are more integrated into their societies in all aspects more so than the "restricted" AA culture in America. At lest they still recognise their African origins more openly instead coming up with some mumbo jumbo designation to compensate for short comings. |
Jayvarley: I already did. I do not feel AUTOSOMAL DNA test tells me much. I already know I am MOSTLY of Sub Saharan African extraction without the help of DNA Testing. What would impress me is if they could give me a breakdown of the percentages of the African tribes I come from rather than telling me I am 89% Sub Saharan African. What a waste of Money.Sub-saharan Africans share very similar genetic information, therefore it is not so necessary for you to know the exact make up only that it comes from a specific region within the continent. West Africans also mixed up per their local proximity so they aren't as "pure'as you might assume. Y-DNA just gives you the closet male ancestor to give you a good starting point. |
Jayvarley: I have done quite a bit of research on DNA testing. The DNA fest only tells a person a where a tiny percentage of their DNA comes from. So for instance if your Great-great-great-great Grandfather was Yoruba the Y CHROMOSOME would pass on from father to son unchanged for GENERATIONS. The DNA test would be able to tell you this. However it would not tell you where your Grandmothers on your Fathers side came from. As it is only targeting the Y CHROMSOME that MEN Pass on to their sons.Do your research again on AUTOSOMAL DNA. It is a complete test that tells you how much African ancestry you have, not just your Y-DNA or your MTDNA which only traces direct male or female image. In other words if you are 88% African derived DNA, 10% Europe and 2% Native American, by virtue of majority you would cluster with West/central AFricans and your phenotypical expressions would cluster along those lines as well. SHikena! |
they came here willingly and have a culture/s to hold on to. therefore they CAN call themselves Asian esp. considering most of them ARE first generation immigrants.
1.Thats your excuse, as if Asian Americans haven't been here for 100's of years. first generation horse Sh*$T! 2. "black" culture is an extension of a culture that already existed that has strong roots from the so called "mother" country. #. you can hold on to your culture too, cause modern science can now pipoint where it originated from.
perhaps because they are not yellow...? lol
perhaps they very much are ![]()
Black American is the ethnicity but black is the race. American is the Nationality.
You really can't see how nonsensical the above sounds. In other words. African derived culture(brought fort by a mesh of West African cultures. and labeled as "black American" is the ethnicity. At the same time the ethnicity is a race and a nationality at the same time. Go take a DNA test and find out what your original ethnicity is not your made up one. Your origins did not start from a slave ship. |
^^^ Funny how others just like you in the US readily accept the term Asian- American and have no problem with it Wonder why they don't call themsleves Yellow Americans I see Black in America has become an "ethnicity" Jolly good then. I hereby declare myself "not black" based on this definition seeing that I was not born in America nor do I share any orginal language or culture as the "black" ethnic group in America. |
if he does feel that way he is correct because we're not. we are black (for the most part) but we are not african. "african" refers to location.
You guys can't have it both ways when you feel like it. You are "black" in an American context and of African heritage in terms of other aspects of your bio-geographical,cultural and social adaptations. If you lived in Africa, you would not hear the term "black" used very often so what are we supposed to call you then? |
Simple answer; NIGERIANS ARE OVER-RELIGIOUS!!!! |
