azeezbaba:
Alhamdulilahi robil alameen. All praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
Let me start by thanking all the gurus in the house, Morris, Aanowai, Bigfrancis & Idawz et al. I can't thank you all enough.
Visa approved today 22nd October, 2014
Time: 7.30am - Abuja - Window 9 (Although we didn't enter the embassy until some minutes to 10am because I forget my bank statement)
My transcript is as follows:

VO: Good morning (with a lovely smile)
Me & Wife: Good morning (My 15 months old son too struggled to say something)

VO: Pass me your documents
Me: I did (she started typing and she continued typing for like 2 mins)

VO: Where is your school?
Me: North Carolina

VO: Why did you choose the school?
Me: Of all the schools I visited when I was on holiday in the US, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University has the best infrastructure and research facilities and the only one that offers my 1st choice concentration which is Cyber Security.

VO: Who is your sponsor?
Me: Myself

VO: Can I see your statement?
Me: I handed out my statements of account

VO: She looked at the statement carefully, flipping the pages and looking at the transaction history (she did this for like 2 mins)

VO: (She asked my wife to do fingerprint and I followed)

VO: Your visa has been approved (She said so many other things after that, like when we can enter the US, the documents to present at the port of entry but I wasn't listening because I was already overjoyed)

I pray for those going for their visa interviews to meet God's favour. I am really overjoyed now

She didn't ask for GRE, IELTS/TOEFL, Transcript or any other document for that matter apart from my bank statement. It's not by might but by prayer.

Any MSc student going to NC A,&T state uni for spring 2015 here?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 6 by Morris(m): 11:47pm On Oct 01, 2014
opad: Friends, October 31 is deadline for many universities for spring which I intend enrolling for Master's. Most require WES transcript evaluation which I've been processing for about 3 months now, you know how our uni's are. I learnt it would be ready next week, then I'll despatch to DHL straight to WES. Considering the processing times of contacting my Uni etc, October 31 might not be feasible I fear.
I currently have a copy of the transcript addressed to Unilag. Are there Grad schools that accept Scanned transcript addressed to other institution just to get admission. I emailed one of my univ of choice and requested a WES transcript.
Kindly provide any university that accepts scanned ones just for admittance before issuing the I-20 letter.
Thanks.
try north Carolina a &t uni and Colorado school of mines.

lisadem: So sorry to hear about you delay Morris. I have been looking forward to hearing your success story.

Don't be deterred. It could be a blessing in disguise. Apparently, the VO was curious and wanted to know why your company will spend so much on you for 4years. THOUGHT YOU PRACTISED THIS A LOT EVEN ON THIS THREAD.

#lesson: when the VO keeps reiterating a question, be observant as your response is a determinant.

Hope it isn't late for you to reapply. If no, please reapply and practise very well. If yes, email your int'l advisor for possible deferment till Spring (if your school/Dept allows intake for the term)

All da best Morris.
Dear naso ooo dey denied today, my skul will resume on 19th, I jst paid anoda visa fee today I want to book an expedite appointment.

odowetalu: The appointment was for 10:30am at Abuja. I got there by 9:30am. They called in but I didn't hear. When I went to the security they just laughed and told me that I'm quite late and should go inside.

The interview went like this;
VO: goodmorning
ME: good morning sir
VO: why are you going for studies?
ME: told him
VO: asked about my sibilings abroad what they do, where they are, and that knda stuff.
ME: *worried* answered
(He then made fun of me that they won't come back when I said they would because they are citizens)
VO: asked about parents and what they do
ME: told
And that's it I was given one collection slip saying something about visa being approved.
No documents asked.
I want to thank God and all the NL folks that have helped me in one way Or the other.
Congrat bro welcum to U.S

bigfrancis21: It entails the conversion of your transcript from our 5-point scale to the US 4-point scale. Our grades when converted to US 4-point scale has the following grade equivalents, A(4 points), B+(3.5 points), B(3 points), C(2.5 points), C+(2.0 points), and F(0 points). It has no D and E like ours and all your Ds and Es are converted to C and C+ respectively thus adding more points for you to your final CGPA and thus boosting your CGPA. It usually favours many applicants, especially those that had quite a number of Ds and Es in their UG results.

This evaluation is usually required during the application stage. There are two ways to it - either the school converts it themselves or you send it to an external evaluation agency(such as WES) to evaluate first and they then will send it to your prospective school. Not all schools require external evaluation and if your school doesn't mention anything about it, don't bother yourself. Just mail it directly to the school and they'll translate it themselves.

With your CGPA of 2.90, you're likely to land between 2.90 to 3.00 on the 4-point scale, which is still not bad. Quite a number of US schools usually set 2.7/4.0 as their minimum CGPA requirement. I converted a friend's own recently who had 3.12 and his 4-point equivalent was 3.05/4.0.

@You and Other Members Who Might Benefit From This:

If you have a copy of your transcripts and want to translate and have an idea of your result on the 4-point scale, use the steps I've outlined below:

Our A is their A = 4 points on their scale
Our B is their B+ = 3.5 on their scale
C = B = 3.0
D = C+ = 2.5
E = C = 2.0
F = F = 0.

Now, tear out a sheet of paper, and change all the grade points on your transcripts from our 5-point scale to their 4-point scale, multiply each course's grade unit by the new grade point and keep. Where you had an A in a 3 unit course, instead of multiplying by 5 as usual, you multiply by 4. Where you made a B, instead of multiplying by 4 formerly you multiply by 3.5 now. Do this for each course. Your courses credit units still remain the same. Only the grade points will change here. Then sum all total grade points and divide by the total credit units of all courses from first year to final year. The answer will be your gpa on the 4-point scale.

What I just outlined for you is exactly how WES and most US schools convert our transcript to their 4-point equivalent. Below is the conversion scale for Nigeria as obtained from WES's website.
Nice one bro thumb up
