Switch cold-turkey to Linux

1 - xubuntu and lubuntu are good.
2. get an additional 4GB ram stick, you need at least 8GB (Remember you are using VSCode).
3. get an SSD drive no matter how cheap 120GB is fine.

Your screen flickering may be a failure waiting to happen. After moving to Linux, see if it persists. If it does, have it checked out. I had an issue with my screen a very long time ago, I have the camera disabled and the issue stopped. (I will never touch another Acer computer ever again)
