manual or automatic depends on the issue with your car,people don't know the difference within both compressor,all that really matters is every car has there compressor capacity either variable controlled by sensor or magnetic controlled.
Some car are designed to run with e.g 1h.p sensor controlled while some are designed with 1/2 h.p all you need is make sure the automatic or manual compressor are the same capacity, there's a template on every compressor for you to know the capacity.
In additional sensor compressor voltage varies isn't stable like the magnetic coil controlled,get a relay to constant the voltage to 12V DC.
1,if you have a contaminated system, automatic compressor can't work again.except you overhaul the system.
2,if your radiator fan speed isn't working properly am sorry automatic compressor won't work.
Because your fan speed is controlled by your ECU(brainbox),which is very hard for so many car owners to believe.
3,the only reason why you can use automatic compressor is if all I mentioned above is fine,because some times due to age or long time use sensor controlled compressor can fail,you can change only the compressor and every thing will be fine or sensor.

Somebody has tampered with the ambient temperature sensor located in frontal area of the vehicle ,look for something like this in front of the condenser ,seems it has been disconnected,just connect it back

The sensor might be sprayed with paint.

It more about the skill level of so called AC technician than the gas .
How many so called -AC technician knows about refilling AC with correct quantity of refrigerant and oil that manufacturers recommend cos most AC guys will refill till they are satisfied that the car is car is cooling well and the obvious fact is that if u refill beyond normal quantity u will introduce liquid refrigerant into the compressor suction side and sludge the compressor and that will spell doom on the AC system .
how many AC technician knows the standard troubleshooting of AC using manifold guage to read the high and low side and diagnosis correctly
How many of then know about correct procedure for evacuation and vacuuming of AC before refilling talkless of owing the machine.
How many AC technician knows about theory of gas pressure temperature relationship and saturation temperature and the application of this quantities in their daily AC work .
So many ignorance on part of the technician that is killing the compressors and pushing the blame on the gas .
How many AC technician knows about the signaling and module to sensor relationship of modern AC system architecture but will convert anything they see to the ancient manual system they understand if they see any modern design they are not familiar with .
All these are minimum criteria to be satisfied before someone can be patronised to fix AC
Or else frustration will be the result .

You are very right most AC technician in nigeria doesn't know how to refill Car AC.
Talk less of knowing what vacuuming a system means.

If you don't have gas analyzing machine there is no why you can identify fake gas,am not in position to start mentioning fake gases.

Check both radiator fan if they are working if yes,refrigerant level is low.

Diagnostic trouble code B1421 Toyota Camry 2008.
Means solar sensor circuit( passenger side).
The solar sensor is installed on the upper side of your dashboard,it detects sun light and controls the air conditioning AUTO mode.
If the sensor is faulty some times when is raining your air conditioning won't work or it might work for some time and stop.

the two are inherently different in design and the engine operating characteristics (for the 2008 i4 engine management system) has been optimized for the VDC compressor. The VDC compressor operation is imperceptible because the refrigerant is always circulating as long as the engine is running. the magic here is that the solenoid (close to the suction side of the compressor) once activated by the ac amplifier creates a pressure differential which then causes the pressure at the discharge side to be higher, hence cooling effect starts. and this operation variably applied until full cooling load is required.

In the case of a compressor lock, the pulley has been designed to break free if the force required to turn the compressor reaches a threshold.

the truth is, the main reason why a solenoid is always wired in series to the compressor clutch is to fool the ac amplifier that all is well with the compressor and its imposed load on the engine, hence allowing a rev-up condition to accommodate additional engine load.. The AC amplifier of such vehicle was never designed to operate with a swash plate, single piston ( or i would say Fixed displacement) compressor with magnetic clutch

In the case of compressor lock don't mean your compressor pulley is broken.
E.g Lexus ES 350 DTC B1422
Open or short in compressor lock sensor circuit.
The compressor uses two sensor VDC sensor and lock sensor with magnetic coil.

I believe in practical not speaking English.
Do you know that the D.C. Voltage that supply the sensor varies.
That is why you need to input a 12V relay when you want to install a manual compressor.

So many car air conditioning are damaged today because of try by error.
All cars model from 2000 upwards A/C are controlled by the ECU.
Air conditioning isn't just only leakage issue sometimes it could be sensor,relay or ECU.

Low side 1.67mpa
So If you are going to use any manual compressed compressor make sure they are of the same capacity.
If not your car engine will be overloaded.

Hello Auto professionals.
My toyota corolla 2006 AC is malfunctioning. The AC has refused to work well Since I refilled the refrigerant (R134a). When switched on it gonna blow cool for a while then blows hot after few miles drive. I would be forced to turn it off. However, If I switch it on again after a while it produces cool air and later blows hot thereafter.
I visited a technician, I was told the AC behaved like that because a substandard refrigerant was used (though i didn't believe that bullcrap). The alleged substandard refrigerant was expelled from the system and filled with acclaimed standard one. Nevertheless the problem still persisted.
I consulted another, he claimed the malfunction was based on too much gas in the system. After the refrigerant reduction. The malfunctioning didn't stop.
The 3rd technician advised the compressor and condenser should be changed for efficient performance....
Now the issue is that I have my doubts with the 3rd technician's claim because I feel nothing is wrong with my compressor. It worked perfectly before i refilled the gas. Besides even when the AC blows hot � i observed the pulley attached to the AC compressor was running as well.

I am really tired of spending without seeing desired result. There is no guarantee that the AC will work well if i change the damn compressor or/and condenser
