Op so sorry about your sad experience. But, you said you will be living the next day that was why i couldn't recommend others to you & moreover, from Dawson (which was were you first lodge) to Iyaro is just #30 & my best friend has a 23 room in Lawani (Lawani is the street after the Cometh Hotel) & you would have just go & meet him or lodge in Cometh Hotel in Iyaro for #2k/night..

I supposed to leave the following day as I wrote in the thread but management mailed me that same night to carry on additional assignment that's what keeps me till today in Benin.

Here's a better offer. How about you get a room for 3 months (9k) instead of spending 2k everyday (60k monthly). You can even spend up to 20k to get a bed, stove, pot and plates to prepare small emergency meals. Let's say your first month you spend 30k, you would have saved yourself 30k. In 6 months, you would have saved yourself over 300k. I am talking about the 2k you would have been spending daily on hotel.

Secondly I don't know why Nigerians are sometimes reluctant to give out information that can make businesses sit up. If you've been having such a terrible experience in this hotel then I suggest you give the name in this post so that people can be aware. It will make the hotel sit up. And where are the authorities that are supposed to conduct regular inspections on these hotels? Maybe they've been bribed to keep kwayet. Nigeria!!

on your second point sir, I purposely withheld the hotel name cos I don't want to spoil their business and don't forget am still lodging here . am a lagosian I have no family or friend in Benin if any of this hotel staff see this thread they will surely know am the one created this thread cos am the oldest lodger here and i complain a lot other people are complaining too. 2 days ago they even spread some of those mattresses in the sun and I heard they fumigate the hotel a month ago don't know if its true . I can only mention the hotel when I leave here.

oga..check your bags, books, clothing and every other items you have on you. There is a good possibility those hitch-hikers (bed bugs) have tagged along with you. You do not want to take those things with you to your house in Lagos.

I know bro, I just discovered 5 mins ago that bedbugs have lot houses under that table now. and that's where I put my bag that contains my files and cloths I know what I will do when I reach Lagos I will fleet my bag andy self and make sure I my file spend the whole day in the sun before I pack it in because I can't imagine seeing bedbug in my house.

they have sucked my blood dry. these things are just too many u see 2 at least in 5 minutes . I can't just try to eat or drink in the room . very disgusting . I have killed almost 1 thousand in since I lodged here.

The following morning I pack my bag and I say goodbye to them. when I reach office I called a colleague and ask him if I can get a cheap hotel of not more than 2k around, the only one he could point at is the same hotel. I leta come out for him that I spent my night there and I narrated my experience to his , he was just laughing and tell.me.its normal because I looked for cheap thing I have to pay the price as well, that even the top managers that have been visiting are lodging in that same hotel. meanwhile my hotel allowance is 4k per night and those ogas is 6k if those big bosses with big cars are spending days in the stinky place to save 4k daily why won't I do the same to save 2k ?

Fellow Nairalanders I have been here for 2 weeks now o. I have changed my room 4 times but still the same experience but me don't sleep on the bed again o .I sleep on the chair and carry my leg on top table lol

...I'm doing this to save 2k ni o. May God help Nigeria o Hardship is a bad experience o.

on my way back to my room the attendant called me and offer me a pack of tissue paper and soap but added something strange to it.....GO 90..lol I was like what's happening but I accept it because I know she knows more than me.

Around 12:15 in the midnight I felt something sucking my body I though is mosquito I slapped it and I feel there is blood in my palm I checked it with my phone light and I confirmed its blood I jump off the bed and on the swiss to see the callous creature that wanted to suck me dry and behold I saw like 20 of BEDBUGS on my white bed sheet fully with blood...my blood? I killed all of them and the bed sheet was full of blood as if I just disflower a virgin .

I allow the bedsheet to dry before I go back to sleep but minutes after another set of bedbug have filled up the mattras , I look at the four corners of the wall and saw many of them also,then I kill them all.

I told her I can't stay in any of those rooms and she said if I have #2k then she will show me the better rooms, these rooms are in 1st and 2nd floor of the hotel. We went there I was not comfortable but the faces of those that occupy the other rooms attracted me , they look well learned and even richer than me I was told most of them have spent 2 to 3 weeks there and they came from Lagos too . the whole 8 rooms in the first floor is occupied and there are 3 rooms vacant in the 2nd floor which I quickly grab even though I see mosquitoes blood all over the wall.

I went back to the reception and pay 2k for a night lodge . The room has a 5 inches Television that's not working again, the fan is dirty and only speed 5 is working, the WC handle has broken and the toilet door is bad, cobweb everywhere, the bedsheet is stained with sperm and there is a lady attachment on the bed ...this shows they just finish playing wrestling on the bed, I beg the attendant to please change the bed sheet and she did that is when I discover that the mattress is old and dirty.

I have no other choice than lodge there for the night, I asked for their bar and she took me downstairs guess what I see in the bar....Many olosho drinking and smoking in the dark side of the bar,I saw an empty seat in one corner of the bar and I decided to sit there to avoid cigarette smoke what I met there pass me walahi... I saw an empty pack of gold circle with some wrap of tissue paper I felt irritated and left asap for another bar outside where I took 2 bottles of Heineken before I came back to spend the wonderful night.

Economy recession has change a lot of rich and average people to poor people.

I was not the type that look for cheap things but the situation of things in the country turns me to another person because I have a lot of bills to pay and ego( money) no enter as it used to enter before.

Month ago I created a thread that I needed a cheap hotel where I can lodge in Benin that was after I have spent like 5days in one of the expensive hotels around Dawson and I was very broke so I needed a hotel that will less than 2k because I still have like 3 more weeks to finish my assignment in Benin .

On that day many Samaritans on Nairaland suggested some cheaper hotel for me and I eventually picked the one that is close to my place of assignment around Akpakpava, when I got to the hotel (name withheld ) I knew I won't enjoy my stay but never expect what am experiencing though. The attendant showed me some rooms for #1500 even dog can not survive if he sleep there talk less of human such person will just suffocate, the smell of sperm and cums plus bedbugs blood are stinky than that of abattior .

I experienced it on 1/4/2014 Warri to Benin when the tire of our Bus bursted in front on trailer also Experience it last 2 weeks along Lagos -Abeokuta experience way when my tire that suppose to expire in 52nd week of 2007 bursted on speed I thank God me and my wife escaped.
